Lewis's Coffee Shop in Lancaster

We were recommended to go to Lewisi's as the coffee and cake was very good, so we did. On arrival, we noticed that the menus were splashed with tea / coffee? stains, and looked as if they hadn't been wiped in a long time. We let that go. We decided what we wanted, and I went up to the counter. The server was attending to a lady, so I waited in line. As something to do, I was watching the server. While making up the lady's order, she wiped her nose on the back of her hand, and kept going with the order. She then needed /wanted something that was in a sink, 3/4 full of standing water. She took things out of the sink, then I saw her drying her hands on a cloth, not a towel, that was beside the sink. At that point, I decided that I'd seen enough, and we left. So, as good as the reviews are, I didn't get to try their coffee and cake, and I never will, as I won't be back.

Moved to the area about a year ago and enjoyed coming to this cafe with my partner. Coffee is good and food is ok. Dog friendly business which is a bonus. However recently far too many mistakes keep cropping up. Had a long wait for a breakfast after my partner had waited a while then eaten hers and mine hadn’t arrived. Also had one where I was missing hash browns off the breakfast. Spoke to staff who said would rectify. I had easily finished the rest of my breakfast, before the missing items arrived to be told my hash browns had kept being given to other orders. So they had repeatedly cooked them and put them on other breakfasts! I have also had a breakfast missing black pudding and upon asking been told they didn’t have any, why didn’t they mention that and why charge us full price? Final straw was a recent visit. Partner ordered two traditional breakfasts and a full English. Only one traditional and full English were brought to us. Fortunately upon checking we hadn’t been charged but by then no point waiting. Shame as I liked it here but will sadly give other establishments a try from now on as far too many errors happening

Treated ourselves to a 3 scoop waffle cone on my birthday. I chose 2 scoops of salted caramel and 1 vanilla. I was surprised it was all white as the caramel is usually much darker. It tasted nice but not amazing. Has the biscoff sauce on the top which was scrummy Ok place, bit hectic with single mums and toddlers and prams , screaming kids and toys all over the floor, oh plus lots of loud yapping dogs !!! But when you want ice cream I guess you have to block all that out !! Staff were very pleasant

I must have walked past this place about a million times in the 41 years I’ve lived in Morecambe, I can’t remember the last time I time I went in, maybe 1992… not sure why. Consider me converted, my daughter said she’d take me for lunch as she’d visited recently and really rated it. The place was packed at 12.45 on a Thursday lunchtime. Service was so friendly and the menu has some really interesting choices. We both plumped for the Cumberland sausage, cheese and chutney ciabatta which came with fresh salad and home made slaw. It was absolutely delicious as was the Jasmine and Lime iced tea which would be wonderfully refreshing on a hot summers day (when we get one). We decided to share some cake to takeout which was Courgette and some other veg that escapes me but it was fabulous and moist. I’ll be back for more.

Best ice -cream parlour in Morecambe. My husband and myself love the black cherry. There's big pieces of cherry and the taste is amazing. The sundaes look delicious and my grandsons agree they are. There's also a large menu of hot snacks and meals and meal deals for children as well as for adults. The prices are reasonable and the food is gorgeous.

Had 3 visits here over a few days while visiting Morecombe, had food and coffees. Nice place dog friendly and staff really helpful. We recommend a visit here when in the area . Across from the Eric morecombe statue so worth a visit for drinks, food or ice cream. Great choice and good price

I have visited Lewis in morecambe for years when visiting and always get the best service and good food and excellent ice cream. Just wondering ,has it changed management, as I was always able to use Wi-Fi while in the cafe, but this time when I asked for Wi-Fi password I was told no Wi-Fi. Only a small comment, I will continue to support them .

We came in for a drink and cake as a family. My son had an ice cream and it was presented beautifully as was our drinks and cakes! There is a little wooden kitchen and book shelf with books which my 5 year old loved. Really good options to eat, would definitely come back.

Me and my mum Lea (were regulars) come here a few times a week each week. The staff are extra nice really polite and friendly and easy to get on with and the food is just perfect beautifully laid out and done to satisfaction even with allergies and cater for vegans, gluten free and even lactose intolerance. Best place in Morecambe by far.

We’ve just finished a delicious breakfast here at Lewis’s and I would go as far to say it was the nicest breakfast I’ve ever eaten! The staff are so friendly and clearly passionate about their business. The cafe has a lovely view and has a very good selection. We both had tea and cake and the only negative was the slice of cake was tiny and we thought it was expensive for what it was. Cakes were tasty and service friendly though

If you're in Morecambe, come here. The food is delicious, with a wide variety of creatively-filled foccacias and ciabattas, a few more substantial dishes, and the very best English breakfast I've ever had anywhere. And awesome-looking cakes, ice creams and sweet treats that I'm always too full to try. Staff are friendly, unhurried and always have a smile, even when they're super-busy. Beautiful views over the bay to the lake district. Fabulous little cafe.

This is the best cafe anywhere either for your breakfast lunch or just a snack I can guarantee you won't get a better cup of coffee anywhere and the staff are brilliant you can even take dogs in as I take my spaniel in everyday either at breakfast time or lunch time

Went for breakfast , place was very busy for a Monday morning! Breakfast was very good , we both had it and we had large , as wasn’t much difference in price ! Upgraded drinks for a pound to hot chocolate, as you get tea , coffee and orange with the breakfast! 😇😎 food was served quick and hot ! Toast was good bread not your basic bread ! Sausages were good quality ! Friend said there scrambled egg was good 👍 . Large breakfast had black pudding which was a plus for me ! Mushrooms were good ! Good breakfast and would go back !

Looked nice on outside but once inside it felt unwelcoming and cold. The staff weren’t really the friendliest, we ordered and food arrived, it was ok but pricey for what we had. Stars given for its location but sadly the service and substance let it down.

Popped in for some lickable frozen yoghurt for the dog. Got presented with a rock solid block of yoghurt that had clearly melted and been refrozen. It was all shardy. Waited for it to melt but my labrador refused to eat it. And he never refuses to eat anything. Give it a taste and it's sour. Ugh. See picture for evidence of disappointed dog.

Went in with wife and two small tired children. Staff were great and welcoming. Great selection on toys and books to help keep the kids entertained. Staff were more than accommodating. Whilst meeting up with old friends who were visiting from Australia, we went into Lewis’s for a spot of lunch. It’s the first time I had been in for food since it changed hands. We ordered a flatbread, ciabatta, and bacon roll, two teas, and a frappe. The lady taking the order was pleasant enough but was being distracted a lot by the male member of staff behind the counter so the drinks took a while to make considering two people were making them. When I took the drinks to the table, we noticed that one of the cups had in grained stains, and the saucers were even worse. Not only that but the milk jug had a large crack in it, and was also stained. Cracked and chipped crockery need to be thrown away and replaced as they can harbour germs. Food was ok but a little on the pricy side and no option to deviate at all from the menu. The ciabatta was fairly large so I asked if I could have an alternative filling in the smaller flat bread that I thought would suit my smaller appetite but was told they couldn’t do that as what was on display was what they had. This did suggest to me that they were perhaps pre-prepared. I’ve been in for a coffee since the refurb which was nice but sadly, the stained and cracked crockery has put me off returning

We ordered the Everest sundae, 8 scoops of ice cream, all different flavours (something to please everyone), 5 toppings and 3 sauces. A treat for the family on the last day of the holiday. When the staff member brought it to the table she said ‘here’s your sundae with 2 scoops of chocolate, vanilla, strawberry and cookies and cream. Brownie pieces, sprinkles, strawberries and banana and chocolate sauce’. I didn’t take in what she’d said as the kids were amazed at the ice cream sundae in front of them. It wasn’t until we were eating and realised favourite flavours were missing. Where was the salted caramel, mint choc chip, raspberry ripple and banoffe ice creams? Where was the fudge pieces and strawberry and toffee sauces? I checked the menu. It didn’t mention that you’d only get a selection of what was listed in the description. Or that the staff member would choose which flavours you’d get (we wouldn’t have chosen the ones we were given). It was the last day of our holiday and we didn’t want the hassle of bringing this to the staff’s attention. The kids just wanted ice cream, and we had a long drive home. This review is for future customers to make sure they ask which flavours they’d like and for the cafe to check with customers which flavours they’d prefer.

This was a perfect lunch on a day trip to the seaside. We had an olive bruschetta with Brie and vegetables, it came toasted with homemade coleslaw and dressed salad. My son had a pepperoni and chicken toasted and came with the same. We tried the coffee, an amazing bubblegum milkshake and a giant meringue with ice cream. Our dog also loved her frozen yoghurt! We will definitely be back. All with a view of the sea and and the Eric Morecambe statue. The staff were so friendly too. Loved it. Thank you.

I live in Morecambe, with my wife, and have been frequenting Lewis's Ice cream & Coffee shop a number of times, but quite often recently. It is situated on the promenade area of central Morecambe. The food is excellent, as is the service. You are always made very welcome by the staff, who attend to your every need. The place is spacious and very clean. Their breakfasts are excellent as is their ice cream deserts, which you can indulge yourself🍨. They have various toasted items, homemade soup of the day, and sandwiches! They serve cold and hot drinks. This wonderful establishment is ideal for locals and visitors to Morecambe. It truly deserves its accolades, especially the one from TripAdvisor. I thoroughly recommend the place.

Oh my goodness. The knickerbocker glory is art. I'd have eaten another. Alas, my wife wouldn't let me, as the kids had finished their ice creams, and I'm diabetic. They had loads of other lunch bites stuff on their menu as well, like the potted shrimps, scones, cakes etc, it all looked lovely, and the staff were fantastic. We can't wait to be back.

Been going here over the years, it’s gone downhill recently. I’d not been in for 18 months after a similar experience. Today I needed a quick bite to eat so gave it a try again. Could be a really nice retro cafe if it wasn’t for the filthy carpet tiles and peeling wallpaper. Staff unfamiliar with menu ie asked for something off the specials board and server looked at me like I had two heads.Random people popping behind the counter and chatting to staff while I was trying to get served. Menu limited. Dessert was not served with the famous Lewis ice cream. Staff were brusque in manner.Basically if you like over priced nuked and toasted foods and service with a scowl in a run down venue this is the one.

Walked in to what we thought was a calm atmosphere to be greeted quite abruptly by the staff serving. Food was terrible, cold and not very eye catching. Staff need to learn customer service. Also saw tables being cleared but not being wiped which isn’t hygienic for the next people using the table. No sign of even having a kitchen all made in view of the customers. Half the menu wasn’t even available to order. What’s the point in having a cafe with a menu if your not going to serve the food on the menu. Definitely won’t be returning. One of the most poorly run cafes we have ever attended. Good luck for future customers!

Stopped at Morecambe seafront when coming back from The Lakes as we wanted to see the sea. Weather was rubbish so we popped in for a coffee and a cake. Unfortunately the coffee machine was broken so we had to settle for just a normal coffee with milk. Cakes were alright although the egg custard tart tasted a bit like scrambled eggs, so didn’t finish it. The place looked like the time has stopped some 30 years ago, but not necessarily in a good way. Looks old, outdated and needs a fresh touch.

We called into Lewis's on a windy rainy Sunday afternoon, there didn't seem to be anywhere else open so we popped in.First impressions it could do with a lick of paint to brighten it up a bit. Lass on the counter was chatting to other members of staff whilst I trying to give our order.We then waited 30 mins for our order - toast, bacon sarnie and a panini. The place wasn't busy.Seems to have good reviews but we didn't have the same experience unfortunately.

My husband had the fish and chips, excellent! I had the jacket potato with prawns which had an huge amount of prawns on a lovely jacket. Real coffee. The girls were a scream so friendly and attentive couldn't do enough for you. What a great place. When in Morecambe will visit again. Thanks girls you were great and so was the food.

Visited again as we always do when visiting Morecambe and met the owner after 26 years ago from working with him, still a handsome bugger, coffee excellent, food looked great and freshly prepared and very good prices, simple menu but that's what you want, not frozen, well worth a visit, didn't get offered a "Toasted T-Cake"??? or "Malted Coffee" ?????

Probably 40 years on and it’s the same as I always remembered it. Ice cream sundaes and knickerbockerglories. It’s not a fancy venue and in truth it’s a little dated but had many happy memories here and in some ways it’s nice to see it’s still the same

Visited with family and ordered the sundaes. Service was slow but the sundaes made up for it. They were great looking and tasting! Cafe is central location and has plenty of seating.

This spacious cafe is in an excellent location on the promenade. The milky coffee was delicious. We popped back later for ice creams which were reasonably priced and good sized scoops

One of those morning when you run out of milk for tea and nothing in for breakfast! No problem, have a walk into town and pick somewhere. Never visited Lewis's before but had heard nice things about it. Gave it a try, wasn't disappointed in the slightest. I had cheese on toast with beans and hubby had a lovely crispy bacon bun accompanied by a tea and a flat white. Great, speedy service at a very reasonable price. We may have just found our new go to breakfast spot!

We stopped here on our way to IOM ferry it’s good to find old fashioned places instead of the usual chain coffee shops. Friendly staff good selection on menu fresh cream cakes and good coffee prices are reasonable.

Lovely place for various ice creams, cakes, snacks, tea, coffee, hot chocolate and soft drinks. Nice and clean and the service was excellent. The staff are really friendly and the items are reasonably priced. The shop is based right on the sea front and nicely decorated inside.

If you ever visit Morecambe you can't go home without visiting Lewis's! The ice cream is delicious and there are lots of varieties. The staff are extremely friendly and chatty as well as patient when I take a while choosing which fantastic ice cream to devour!

The best thing about Lewis’s is there full English Breafasts and frothy coffees. Service slow. Orders are often wrong. I think it best if you order and then go back later, but worth it.

Having been asked by friends to see if their favourite ice cream parlour was still there - and finding it was - we decided to sample the wares and were not disappointed.

We always have to call in when we have our Granddaughter, she absolutely loves the Sausage Sandwich, we always enjoy the Coffee and tea cakes . You are always made welcome by all the staff , we have never had any cause to complain , great cafe.
