Leoni’s in Stockport

We’ve been going to Leonis since it was opened and have always enjoyed the food , drinks and ambience alongside friendly but not overbearing service . We had a celebration there in September and everything was just great , couldn’t fault it at all

Excellent. That sums it up. Service was spot on - not overbearing but always there and no looking for someone when needed. Food was actually served nice and hot on properly warmed plates - why has this become a lost art? Portions were generous and after a hot cup of coffee the bill was a very reasonable £77, although they did add on 10% service charge. I usually leave this, and on this occasion I added more, but personally I prefer it to be left entirely to me. I have often paid a lot more for a much poorer experience, in fact its difficult to get away with any less than that nowadays for 1 starter 2 mains and 1 dessert plus a couple of drinks and coffees.

We booked late and the Leonis team were only too happy to help us find a good time to dine with them. We were a bit late but the entire team were very understanding on our arrival, which was really reassuring. We were seated quickly and we had a great table. The staff couldn’t do enough to make us welcome and to make sure we had a nice experience. The food was superb and they even thought to bring my son’s food before mine as he was hungry! Owen has a lovely evening and I can’t recommend Leonis highly enough as a true local Italian restaurant. Bravo!

Been using this restaurant since Sept 2021 on a regular basis and have never been disappointed. Friendly staff and great food in a lovely setting. Would highly recommend.

I had such high expectations after reading such good reviews. However our meal was dreadful. To start we had scallops and mussles. The scallops came out with burnt bacon on top, we asked if this was right to which we were told its ment to be crispy. It was hard and inedible not crispy. The mussles were ok but very tasteless and served with burnt toast. For mains we ordered the Funghi with chicken and the Pescatore. We had seen photos of the Pescatore on other people reviews, ours was nothing like any photos we had seen. There were 2 mussles and a bit of frozen calamari no other shellfish. The chicken on the Funghi (which I paid nearly £4 extra for) was like chicken out of a frozen bag of already cooked chicken. Both meals were tasteless and inedible. We were never asked if our food was ok or if we would like anything else. The only good thing about our meal was the wine!

Disappointing no crab ravioli. No longer on the menu Truffle parmesan arancini specials starter £9.50 and bland Pizza tunno with caramelised onions …so sweet it was inedible. Peroni zero £5 but ran out after ordering one . Good service etc but wont be coming back

We had this restaurant recommended to us so expected great things. We ordered the seafood sharing platter for two which was very nice and also a tomato garlic bread - both very nice ( although small part of the garlic bread had been burnt underneath) for mains we ordered a “special” of a cod dish but had to return that as it wasn’t hot just warm. The waiters did resolve this very quickly and efficiently with a replacement piping hot dish. In addition my chicken diavola was extremely tasty. Another guest had pasta arriabiata but there seemed too much sauce to be honest. The other guest had a pasta dish but it had a sauce covering the bread base which made it rather sloppy. We also ordered some zucchini fries which were really tasty and fresh. In addition we had some ordinary fries. The service was excellent and couldn’t be faulted. The setting is very nice and I would have liked to have given them 5 stars but they fell down with the food side.

Very noisy due to music too loud so people have to speak loud to be heard. Food not the tastiest £4 for 4 prawns 😳 no lemon in lemon cheesecake, Panna cotta taste like soap. Very disappointed as had heard good reviews before coming.

The staff and atmosphere were lovely, however the food was bland and luke warm. Has the potential to be a great restaurant however the food was really disappointing. Won’t be returning.

Terrible customer service and an incredibly rude and nasty waiter on arrival. We had been assured, when booking, that a certain table would be reserved. When we arrived it was taken, despite many other free tables. The waiter who ‘greeted’ us (Fabio) didn’t even apologise and was incredibly rude and dismissive. The food was mediocre at best and vastly overpriced. We won’t be eating there again.

Nice bright restaurant, seated quickly, service attentive & efficient but not over the top. We were there early evening for a birthday treat. I was a little underwhelmed by the food to be honest, I was expecting to be blown away & I wasn't. Sorry I think it's a little bit style over substance, but definitely understand why people like it, it's a lovely place to sit, especially on a sunny day.

Booked for a Saturday afternoon for a bridal shower for 12 people. Very attentive, didn’t mind us having bridal attire and balloons etc on the table. Excellent food & good value for money. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Had late lunch yesterday, 22nd December to celebrate a birthday. Looked like we just missed the lunchtime rush so didn't have to wait for anything. I had mussels to start in tomato sauce which was lovely, my wife had scallops which she devoured. For my main I had Steak Rossini (med) very nice indeed, my wife went for the Lobster risotto and loved it, all washed down with a bottle of red. Would highly recommend

My fiancé and I went for a date night meal Fri Dec 16th and we are very fortunate that this is in our neighbourhood. For starters I had Salsiccia con spinaci and my other half chose the oysters. We didn't wait long and had only just started on the bottle of house red wine which was lovely too. For the main I had 8oz steak with pepper sauce med well and my fiancé chose smoked salmon pizza. Both plates were so nice we couldn't resist but try each others which makes us want to go again in a hurry, to try them for ourselves. The staff are genuine charming Italian and are attentive and polite. The food was gorgeous and we feel very lucky to have this nearby. Its highly recommended, a decent ambiance and cosy venue. We just been for a dinner after their restaurant refurbishment and I can say that this venue looks very at the top of the Game with other well known in the Manchester area . We were out for a fish dinner date and everything was fresh & tasty !! Wine selection was very good and we will return for sure 👌 Highly recommend

Friendly service, but very cold restaurant. Starter of garlic bread and tomato tasted of no garlic. In fact, all the food felt thin and under-seasoned. Paying extra for prawns meant three prawns. And the Parmesan didn’t taste fresh nor did it add flavour. We left most of our mains, but nobody questioned the half-full plates. Having waited a couple of years to try it’s unlikely we’ll be back. Shame

My wife picked this restaurant at random off the internet, a very good judge of eateries, great food, great attentive service. A little noisy but a good atmosphere.

Visited Leoni's tonight with 4 friend's I understand that resturants get busy over a weekend.. but surely that's what freezers are for? No- Meatballs Ribs Tempura Prawns 1 of the steaks Fudge cake Profiteroles basically what we actually booked for..and it was only 6.30pm! Also..the meatballs were still written on the board...and I think we should of been told about the lack of items before we ordered drinks etc The food we had was lovley..but felt let down tbh I'll stick with Avanti in future..never had a problem there!!

After few months of mysery we went to Leonis again. I'm a big fan of Italian cousine and I can honestly say that they know how to deliver very authentic experience. Fantastic food ( I had seafood pasta) and service from Daniel and William. Everything topped up with a bottle of Gavi and it's like being on holiday again. To say that Leoni's Restaurant is a lovely restaurant is an understatement.Everything from the service to the food is very good.We had a seafood platter as a starter followed by a half lobster dish and a very rich chocolate cake.I. And THE CHOCOLATE CAKE ❤️❤️❤️ So rich!The staff was very friendly and helpful, and very understanding, to say the least. Food was bland and overpriced in my opinion- the garlic bread was tasteless and dry. The pizza vases were thick and stodgy. I had prawn pasta which was okay but needed something to add texture. Wouldn’t recommend.

Very disappointed that we got put in the gazebo it’s just not good enough. I don’t understand why they feel it’s ok to put customers in that. The rain was dripping all down the sides. First time visiting today for a mid-day meal. Attentive and polite staff and a m spacious yet atmospheric outdoor seating area. Everything went smoothly from booking to paying. I thought maybe since the prices were slightly lower than I expected, that the quality might lack - but I had the seafood linguine and my partner had the lobster pasta and both were really delicious. The seafood was perfectly cooked and not chewy and the sauce was great. I deffo recommend the garlic bread, half cheese half tomato.

Wonderful food and excellent customer service. Visited today 30th April with my husband, daughter, son in law and their children 4 and 2 months. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was authentic and delicious. Good wine menu choice and not expensive. They went above and beyond to ensure we had a fabulous meal and provided excellent customer service when one off us spilled their dessert. I would highly recommend this local restaurant.

Went for meal here on Thursday 15th April, the service was excellent & they were always there if you needed anything. Their covid special measures were spot on. But the food was amazing, I had the linguine pescatore which is a mixed shell fish pasta dish. It’s one of the best meals I’ve had, definitely in my top ten ever. I couldn’t recommend this restaurant enough & I’m already booked in for Sunday with friends & Wednesday with family.

We have been to Leonis a lot but haven’t left a review until now. Every time we go the food has been great and so has the service. We usually go with our young son and the staff are so nice with him. The seafood risotto and tiramisu are my usuals !

Perfect authentic Italian in every way . The service and atmosphere all outstanding. Myself and my husband ordered a selection of starters and specials all of which were perfectly cooked and equally delicious. The Waiters and waitresses knowledge and service made this a lovely afternoon dining experience Cannot recommend this place enough. Cannot wait to return soon !

I have to say I was really dissapointed with the food in here , a limp bland Bruschetta starter and a tasteless cheese garlick bread , my Sea Bass main was two limp cuts swimming in some sort of sauce and surrounded by unnecessary salad it was pretty grim and the potatoes and spinach that accommodated it were bland as well.

We booked a lunchtime table for food and drinks, our first venture out after lockdown and we were so pleased to have chosen Leoni's. The level of care, hygiene and social distancing was imacculate. Crisp white tablecloths and Prosecco the colour of gold were a sight for sore eyes in the bright and airy restaurant. Ribs and scallops starters were so tasty, and generous servings. For mains we had Diavola pizza cooked to crisp perfection; seafood linguine so deep in flavour with lots of different types of fish. Lemon cheesecake and Limoncella to finish made this the best meal in Heaton Moor for a very long time. Thank you to everyone at Leoni's, we will definitely see you again soon ❤

Difficult to find an Italian restaurant that does pasta, pizza and fish / meat equally well. Leoni’s hits the mark. Pizzas are done right with a pleasant crust (not too salty or heavy) and the specials board is always varied. Good Italian cooking from a friendly bunch. Decent wine list. Useful to have this place literally on the doorstep. I’d give them an even more favourable review if they put the Menebrea tap back behind the bar (although they still have a good selection of Italian draught beers). Casual feel in the week but a pleasant non-stuffy sense of occasion on the weekends.

On arriving we were greeted and shown to our table. However that's when it all went wrong. The waiter who was stone faced literally placed our menus on top of the plates on the table and walked away; at this point we hadn't even taken our coats off and sat down. We eventually ordered our food and when the starter arrived (Bruschetta) it was soggy, we then waited 45 mins for our main courses (only a pasta dish and a pizza, not exactly a complex meal) with no apologies for the wait. I had to ask for pepper as there wasn't any on the table and we weren't offered any. The waiter wasn't welcoming at all and when we asked for the bill - surprise we got in within 10 seconds! Customers dirty plates/glasses were stacked high on the bar (and that's no exaggeration) rather than taken back to the kitchen. This really gave a bad impression for any customers coming into the restaurant. I'm no restaurant snob but this was poor to say the least. In addition, the lighting in the foyer was warm but in the restaurant area it was bright white giving it a cold atmosphere, however that matched the vibe from the waiter. Needless to say we won't be returning.

These premises seem to change hands every couple of years but we decided to give the latest incumbents a try. The place is still the same layout but has had a bit of a makeover and the decor is pretty welcoming. The service was very attentive and the food very good. The price is a little on the high side but a good evening was had by all.

We have been customers of Leoni's since it opening on the 12thDec 2018It's something we really look forward to and we have always experienced truly exceptional food, service and atmosphere. This New Years Eve has not disappointed us, in fact, it was the best ever and we're looking forward to many more visits in 2020.Thank you to all the Leoni's team and best wishes for the new year.

Having dined at places such as San Carlo, Piccolinos and others I found Leoni`s to be on par with these but much better value for money. Will definitely be returning, the steak was amazing!

Visited today lunchtime for the 1st time. We were a bit apprehensive as there were no other diners but staff were welcoming. Offered 2 menus, a light lunch & an a la carte.Plenty of choice on the lunch menu but we decided to order from the main. Prices about what I would expect for decent High St Italian. We shared a bruschetta starter and both ordered the lobster ravioli. Both courses well presented and the ravioli was delicious. Still no other diners so atmosphere a bit flat but it was a wet Wednesday in Stockport! Bill with soft drinks and coffee £48 so not cheap but have paid more for far worse food. Would visit again but maybe in the evening.

had a lovely meal last week first time to Leonis but can say the quality is the same if not better than San Carlo's in Manchester (and cheaper!) Ordered the prosecco which was very nice whilst looking at the menu which had loads to choose from.The mixed seafood was done very well and came with mussels and other shellfish.Had an italian red wine which also was fantastic shared a dessert (was so full!) good portion sizes and all fresh ingredients, very freindly staff and service also, will definitely return!

Saturday night dinner with granddaughter we had brushetta with mixed topping the one with mushroom topping was like a brick really burned when I pointed it out to head waiter he took it into kitchen no apologies or reimbursement for main I had sword fish my granddaughter had lobster which were average for the high price doubt if I would return

Visited Leoni's for the third time last week, and had a delicious lunch. The food is lovely, and the staff are delightful. We are so lucky to have such a good Italian restaurant just a short walk away.

good food but why do you have to pay for ALL sides, like vegetables normally included at other restaurants. Also the staff are a bit too patronising-non stop Italian even in italy if they know you're english they stick to english.Every time I ordered the homemade cheescake they have run out, even dining at 6:30pm not at the end of night.

Visited leonis for a farewell meal for my sons leaving for university. Lovely greeting, nice surroundings and great starters. However, waited ages for our main meals and when they arrived one of them was nothing like the description on the menu; a plate of dry lamb chops with no advertised sauce and no side dish of fries. We asked where sauce and fries were and were acknowledged with utter disregard. The sauce and fries came ten minutes later when meal was cold. ( menu- costolette d’agnello) Although there was little understanding of our disappointment , including two highly unpleasant waitresses, we were slightly reimbursed on the bill.

Visited for the first time for an anniversary dinner

What a fab fab fab little place. I have visited here a couple of times and will be making my way back for sure. As a passionate meat eater there was plenty to choose from, however my other half is a vegetarian. Leonis and the staff were very accommodating in providing us with vegetarian options and wow, it tasted good. The seafood is fresh, the pasta is fresh and more importantly it tastes gooooood!!! Get yourself to Leonis, you wont be disappointed.

Went on a Wednesday evening and it was nicely busy but too much so. Had excellent food and would have given it 5 stars if they had had more vegetarian options. They were inadequate given how easy it is to make interesting vegetarian options. Pizza marguerita? You can do better.

The lighter lunch option was plenty filling and seemed like good value. The restaurant is nicely furnished inside. Service was efficient. Worth a try.

We went for a midweek family birthday meal and overall it was lovely. Staff very attentive and friendly. Couple of things that I thought were that the child portions of pasta were on the small side. Our 9 year old felt it was a very small portion. Also, prices slightly on the high side. Very nice place though and enjoyed it.

The reviews on this site are mixed, but word of mouth was positive, so we decided to give Leoni's a try and had dinner here on a midweek night when the restaurant wasn't too busy. And we had a very nice meal with very good and attentive service - and we would definitely return. We had a bottle of the valpolicella ripasso for which the big wine glasses were brought to the table, and which accompanied my veal with spaghetti in a delicious tomato sauce and the pasta with Tuscan spiced sausage and pecorino cheese, and a tomato and onion salad - the tomatoes were a little bland which was a shame. Coffees to finish and the bill came to around £70, most of which were the drinks!

We have been here a few times since it has been taken over and i cant rave about it enough! The food is exellent and the staff are superb! Friendly, attentive, funny and personal. They anticipated our needs and worked at just the right pace. Not too fast and definitely not slow. It can get really busy so expect a but of a wait and you pretty much have to book in advance but to me this is a good sign and great to have somewhere like this in Heaton Moor Village that we can walk to and don't have to go far for a lovely evening meal out! To top it all off a cheeky limoncello from your favourite waiter at the end of the meal will do it for anybody

Friendly staff and good atmosphere on Sunday night gave reasons for optimism. Sadly all let down by the food. Bruschetta starter was ok albeit soggy although things went down from there. Portions disconcertingly huge but largely tasteless. Didn’t stay for pudding. Price on high side for pizza and pasta restaurant. Pizza Express would have been a better option which is a real shame. Wouldn’t return or recommend. Sorry.

Visited here on a Friday evening for a celebratory dinner and we had an absolutely lovely night. The food was incredible, from the starters right through to the desserts. The wait staff were attentive, polite and a little bit cheeky; all of which added value to our experience. They even deboned the fish at the table-side which was a classy touch. Would definitely recommend Leoni’s and can’t wait to return.

I live locally and decided to give this place a try with my mum and sister and was not disappointed, the best Italian food I've had in the UK and the carbonara is to die for! Loved it so much I dragged my boyfriend there the next day (who isn't a fan of Italian) who also loved it!

What a fabulous eating experience. The quality of service, food and atmosphere was first class, and the portion size exceeded expectations.

Very dissapointed, the food was mediocre, and overpriced, also service was poor. We went for a birthday meal.and won't be going back

Came in for lunch on Sunday, with two young children and the staff could were so accommodating and friendly. Baby changing is very clean and there is even a child’s loo seat fitting. The food was great, very fresh and well cooked definitely on par with Picollinos. Will return with pleasure!

We asked the waiter for water, he said still or sparkling, we said tap, he brought a bottle of still water, which cost £3.95. Such a liberty.

Visited for the first time yesterday for lunch with family. Was really looking forward to it given the good reviews, and a good Italian is just what is needed locally.

We had a lovely lunch here with Family on Monday the staff were very helpful and friendly ..It seems to be all on one level and have disable toilets which is good .the are highly recommended xxx

C est de très loin le meilleur restaurant italien dans lequel j ai mangé nous étions 6 avec cinq plats différents et c est l'unanimité c est très très bon.le personnel est agréable et très acceuullant, rien a dire ! FORZA ITALIA!

Just had a pizza and a couple of beers,and glasses of house wine for less than £30. Good food and beer,my wife was please,nice relaxed atmosphere for saturday afternoon. We will be back.

Went to Leonis for my boyfriends birthday. The staff were lovely, genuinely wanted to serve you and very helpful!

The first time I went to Leoni’s I enjoyed the food and service very much so I decided to go again with my partner. Once again the food was delicious , the service was great and the atmosphere was pleasant. The restaurant was very busy but the waiters were still very attentive. Will definitely be coming back in the future!
