The best carbonara I’ve ever had. All meals lovely and friendly staff. Pizza dough cooked to perfection

Great food, which was enhanced by the Wonderful atmosphere . Staff wonderful. Stairs maybe a little steep, but loads of parking.

My husband and I had the worst Italian meal we’ve ever had at an Italian restaurant. The Minestrone soup was utterly tasteless and full of tinned vegetables. Awful. The calamari with chilli and garlic had no chilli and no garlic. Just the same tomato liquid as the soup. Totally bland. Then 2 pizzas which were supposed to be the same,were entirely different. One was like shoe leather and totally inedible. If I was the chef,I would be ashamed to serve such low standard food. Hardly surprising the restaurant was virtually empty. A thoroughly disappointing evening.

Staff so welcoming and attentive without being obtrusive. Food is well cooked, beautifully presented with a great choice of something to suit everyone’s taste. My wife says lobster ravioli is to die for while I can thoroughly recommend the fillet with pepper sauce. Don’t miss the espresso dessert if you are a coffee lover. This was not my first visit and it certainly will not be my last.

This is a fantastic restaurant. I've been numerous times with the whole family or just the wife. I have never been disappointed.The food is fantastic, the staff are very friendly and the atmosphere is always pleasant and welcoming.We go back time and again, we keep saying we should try somewhere new, but we don't want to be disappointed by going elsewhere.

We picked up a takeaway from here for 5 people. Lovely staff and the Italian owner took time to chat with us and tell us his story. Food was great and we’ll definitely be coming back

My wife and I and also my daughter son in law and children often go to this lovely local restaurant, the food is great equalled only by the friendly staff who tend to your every need. I highly recommend a visit to this fabulous little restaurant.

Went for early dinner with relatives over from the states who are staying in Boldon. Tried Leonardos for the first time and hugely impressed. Very welcoming, we have 4 year olds and and restaurant is very family accommodating. Good menu, plenty of choice, excellent happy hour deals and a specials board.Food was first glass, we had pizza’s, pasta and I went for beef stroganoff which was delicious. Very friendly staff, nice atmosphere. Will definitely be back and highly recommend to others.

We have been a visitor to this restaurant for many years and experienced wonderful service and good quality food and spent thousands of pounds in the process. Our last experience ,however,was very , very disappointing .

If you're looking for excellent Italian food without any song and dance, this probably isn't the place for you! Firstly, the pizzas and pastas are not 'right.' The pizza base is spongy and bread-like with the wrong taste. The other ingredients were fresh and ok, but didn't add up to a real Italian style pizza. The pasta was cooked well, but the sauce was bland and lacked anything special. Leonardos is modern, clean and nice, no issues there, nor with the fact that it is above a pub.

I’ve been here quite a few times with friends and family and although it’s changed hands; the food is still as delicious as it has always been, if not better. I have never found a fault except for eating too much!!

We’ve been to this restaurant several times and it’s always been very good. Food is excellent staff are friendly and it’s reasonably priced. The restaurant has recently started opening on a Sunday until 8pm so we popped in. The food on this occasion was excellent. As I’ve said it’s always very good but possibly because the restaurant was quiet it was exceptionally good. I would highly recommend it.

I am lucky to live close to this excellent Italian restaurant. It is a family run business and they always make you feel most welcome. They always have a specials board available, as well as the normal menu. Also a good choice of Italian wines.

This was our second visit in three years and was for a special occasion, our sons 30th birthday. The menu is so varied and the choice and quality of food is superb. The Italian staff are friendly and attentive. The ambience is cosy and warm. Absolutely fantastic.

Leonardos is a very good restaurant its in a great location, great food and very friendly staff. We were offered a bruschetta free of charge and at the end of the meal we were offered a liquor. I had chicken Milanese and it was the best that I have eaten for a long time (delicious ) I would definitely recommend a visit to leonardos

Came here a year after our last visit here, the staff were all brilliant especially Marcello singing popular Italian songs and a happy birthday song to one of the guests. My partner is vegetarian and had plenty options to choose from. I myself had the lobster and t-bone steak for main. Beautiful steak. Will definitely call again!

We went for my Dads Birthday and I had the deep fried white bait for starter and Ravioli with lobster meat and tiger prawns For my main! Both courses were amazing, really enjoyed it and I've found my new favourite Italian Restaurant!

Lovely family restaurant, good food and excellent service. The restaurant is relaxing and cosy without feeling cramp.

An intimate setting but I didn't find it cramped or uncomfortable at all. It had an authentic feel and I think the comments about it looking like "someone's living room" are greatly exaggerated. I couldn't fault the food and the complimentary bruschetta was a nice bonus. Waiters were very polite and knew exactly what they were serving. The owner, Marcello provided hilarious banter and a "floor show" all night and I didn't find him at all intrusive. He added a touch of fun to the atmosphere and the dining experience. Overall a great evening and I can't wait to go back.

We came here on whim on our way to a 40th birthday party. I am so please we did. The food was excellent and the staff were so lovely especially Marcello. He was an absolute delight!We will definitely be coming back and next time we will bring our family.

We came here for the first time on a busy Saturday night, booking in advance as we'd heard good reviews. It's a higgledy piggledy layout but I think that adds to the charm of the place. We were given a complementary starter of bruschetta while checked out the menu & the specials board. We both chose from the specials board of scallops baked with baby prawns & king prawns & chozio in the spicy tomato sauce both excellent. We then had the fillet steak with a truffle sauce & lovely brown chips. My husband had monkfish with mussels & king prawns in a spicy tomato broth with wedges of bread & brown chips. He said it was tremendous but couldn't manage any chips because the fish was so good. We had a bottle of rose & some complementary amaretto & a Lemon sorbet to finish all for £76. Really good food with a friendly atmosphere at reasonable prices we will definitely return

Leonardo's Boldon - We dined as a party of six adults and one child. Most of us had two courses and our son had a garlic bread with cheese ( a toddler favourite) Our bill included a bottle of wine, couple of glasses of wine and soft drinks for £115. The staff were so good with our two year old son, they gave him plenty of attention. High fives all round from him lovely family restaurant. My food was beef stroganoff and warm parma ham and mozzarella. See photos.

Went to Leonardos last night for mother-in-laws birthday meal and was excellent as always. First class service and food. The staff are very attentive and friendly. Been 3/4 times now and love it. Wouldn't hesitate in returning.

We dined at Leonardo's in April as a birthday celebration, the couple we were with are regulars, but this was our first visit. Although it is a small restaurant, it does not feel cramped, in fact I prefer a "snug" restaurant, rather than those that appear like a school dining room.I would highly recommend Leonardo's and here is why :-1) Friendly warm welcome on arrival, the staff are genuinely friendly.2) Table was well laid out with a complimentary bowl of olives which my fellow diners said were delicious, but after having a traumatic experience when I was coerced into eating an olive by my geography teacher in 1970 when olive oil was something you put in your ear, it makes shudder to see people eat them. There was a delicious complimentary plate of bruschetta that was full of flavour.3) Menus were provided and drinks order taken within 5 to 10 minutes of our arrival.4) Our waiter politely asked after 10 to 15 minutes if we were ready to order, He was helpful in explaining dishes and giving recommendations.5) Our first course arrived after about 10 minutes, I had squid in a chilli and tomato sauce - fabulous, decent quantity of squid and sauce was just spicy enough cause a little perspiration on the brow.6) For my main course I had Pollo Gorby, chicken breast and prawns in a mushroom, brandy and cream sauce, served with rustic chips. The chicken was moist and tender and sauce smooth and rich, and full of flavour. Excellent!7) Feeling full I chose lemon sorbet for dessert, the sorbet was served inside a hollowed out frozen lemon. Just sharp enough and a great dessert to finish a meal.8) My fellow diners were all delight with their food and service.9) Some reviewers have said the waiters were perhaps a little over zealous, but could not fault them. Friendly and attentive to our requirements.All in all an excellent evening. I thought the timeliness of the serving of our meal was just right. Hard to fault.

Above the pub but easy to find and easy parking. Friendly, helpful staff, excellent food. Party of nine were able to sit together without feeling squashed, around £20/£25 a head including all drinks and most of us had three courses.

It was time to meet up with a couple of friends, and we wanted a restaurant that was placed near to where people lived and could get too without too much travelling. So we booked a table for 6 at Leonardo's in East Boldon. I have been before and knew that it was 'class in a glass'!! Got sat down on time drinks came quickly and the menu and specials were pointed out. I love sea food as does most of our group and so the scallops and and Calamari with King prawns were two favorites. The scallops are in three shell dishes and accompanied with prawns in a light Italian sauce. Fab! I had Sea Bass for my mains apparently the pasta dish with lobster filling, was terrific and my tempura King prawns and Calamari was just first class. Lightly cooked and deep fried in a delicate batter, excellent. What I like about the place is the welcome and genuine friendliness of all the staff. Marcello is a lovely chap and is the owner. He is quintessential Italian and revells in the enjoyment you have in their food. This is not an easy place to fine in East Boldon and is opposite the Gray orse if thats any help. It is worth the effort to find this restaurant and I would recommend it for it's quality friendliness and willingness to provide you with what ever you want. Go as soon as possible however they are not available on Easter Sunday. Great night out

We have visited this restaurant many times and never been dissappointed. We visited tonight and the welcome was excellent together with the food which has a wide menu together with a board of special starters and mains which are very reasonably priced. I had the lamb special which was delicious and very tender. If you are anywhere near West Boldon give it a try and you won't be dissappointed.

My family and I visit this restaurant regularly! The staff are all very friendly and there is always a pleasant atmosphere. Yes the restaurant is small, however i don't feel that is something that is detrimental to our dining experience. If anything the intimate venue allows for a more personal experience. One staff member in particularly, a legendary older man is hilarious! Again not everyone's cup of tea but it's nice to see a place and staff that have a bit of craic and character. Food is of a good standard and very reasonably priced! Yes the car park is small and fits only a few cars in, but due to its location many customer like to walk to the venue from their home and enjoy a glass of the restaurants fine wine! Nice to see a place doing well! Also I would like to add mistakes happen in all work environments but it's how they are dealt with that makes the difference. In my experience the staff here have always delivered a great service! Def give this place a try!!!

Love this Italian! Food is always gorgeous, great value for money and staff are so friendly. Book in advance as it's very popular and we often struggle to get a table if we turn up on a Friday or Saturday without a booking.

I've visited Leonardos a few times now and it never disappoints. Italians is my favourite food so I have been to a LOT of Italians. The waiting staff are so friendly and always make sure you feel welcome. Service is fast and food is always served quickly. Unlike a few reviews I've read I've never been given the wrong drinks and I'm sure if they were asked they would change them straight away. This restraint is above a pub where you have to climb stairs but if you don't like the fact you have to climb stairs don't go, don't complain about it. Food is well priced and there is a large menu with a specials board. I would not hesitate to return to Leonardos

I have eaten in Leonardo's three times now. The food is delicious and the service is absolutely first class. I was surprised to read a review which pulled the whole place to pieces {apart from the food} The restaurant is what it is!! Yes it is upstairs and yes the stairs are quite narrow etc etc etc so if I had a problem with that I simply wouldn't go again because it would be unsuitable for me - I certainly wouldn't write an essay on Trip Advisor bad mouthing a great Italian Restaurant.

This restaurant is above a pub which is almost the upstairs of a house. The main seating area is in the 'living room/bedroom' and you are practically sitting on top of the tables around you as they have squeezed as many tables in as possible. Also isn't ideal when the window into the kitchen is directly beside your table and the workers are hovering around you at all times. I honestly felt the most uncomfortable I have ever felt while eating in a restaurant because of the manager (I assume) and how close he was standing to my table at all times watching me and my partner eat. All I wanted to do was leave. From what I remember the food wasn't bad. However, I will NOT be returning.

Visited with my husband on Saturday evening, great atmosphere and friendly attentive staff. The choice of food is great with specials on a board. Prices are good and the portions good too. A hidden gem. Only down side is it isn't disabled friendly as there are 2 flights of stairs.Worth a visit

So Italian is my favourite cuisine, over the years we have tried countless places in the North East. Narrowed it down to about 5 places that we visit frequently that I would say are spot on. Obviously the food has to be good but service is also a must for me. We visit Mamma Italia (I think it's now known as Pascal at Ashbrooke) now and then, the Sister restaurant to this one in Sunderland. We finally got round to trying Leonardo's out. We weren't disappointed! The service was very attentive and not too fast or slow. Food was delicious and the restaurant itself is quite quirky. The atmosphere was very relaxed and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We will definitely be back!

Well we did not want to return after our last visit, however our friends booked the table so we went ahead with the visit!!! (Might I add that our friends were not the same ones who had a very disappointing first visit due to the waiter who did not get our drinks right all night!!!) So a second bite at the cherry for leonardos and I will review it as I do with all the places I visit!! The restaurant is very small almost as if it was the upstairs living accommodation to the wheatsheaf pub which is directly under the restaurant, the car park is very small and only fits 6 or 7 cars in when busy and is a logistical nightmare to get out of depending on how other customers have parked! There are steps leading up to the restaurant and a further two flights of steep staircase to climb before getting into the restaurant and the staircase is also narrow so beware anyone who can't climb stairs as this would not be suitable for you!! Although the pub underneath is noisy and the music is loud you can't hear this once you are in the restaurant! The decor is very dated but nonetheless it's very clean, the toilets are in need of updating and my wife said it was freezing when she visited the toilets!! Once seated in the restaurant it is quite small and doesn't hold many customers before it's full and claustrophobic but the space has been utilised as best it can be given the floor space in this restaurant! The majority of customers appear to be regulars as they are greeted differently to customers like us who are clearly not regulars, which is fair enough but makes customers like us feel like intruders which is not good!! However as we said last time the food is lovely and I had steak as I did on my last visit and I had no complaints and my wife had lobster ravioli which she said was beautiful and our other friends just had pasta dishes and no complaints there either so our compliments to the chef please!! Our biggest problem last time was the tall waiter whom my wife believed was called zaberdeen or sabdin who got our drinks wrong all night and was quite ignorant to the point of vacant!! Well he is still working here and although our drinks were not wrong all night like last time he got our last two rounds mixed up (which like before we did not want to make a fuss as they were busy) and the last one totally wrong when we asked for Amaretto we got limoncello!!!!!!! sounds nothing like what we asked for but because it was complimentary we thought it would be wrong to complain but I do feel like this needs to be brought to the managements attention, as he's consistently not good at his job I am afraid to say!! He takes far too long to get the drinks when you ask in the first place which puts you off wanting another one! However I must say that the older staff which you have are an asset to the restaurant as they were always smiling and very accommodating which is a nice plus to add to our very disappointing first visit!! However my colleague and friend who attended on Thursday evening said he had witnessed the waiter in question leave the toilet without washing his hands then proceeded to serve drinks which to be honest didn't surprise me but was extremely bad hygiene on his behalf, and I am aware that this is something management cannot monitor and would not have been made aware of, however this is definitely information I would like to know about my staff, given this establishment seems to be very good on hygiene! I would hope that this information is something which you appreciate was brought to your attention to address!! We would have put a higher rating if it hadn't been for the tall waiter who's name we previously mentioned!!! Food very good but due to the issues raised the waiter let the visit down again which is a shame

Can't fault a thing, visited with my partner and the staff could not do enough for us. Had starters, mains and coffees and the food was delicious, perfectly cooked and can't wait to go back again. Reasonable prices and a lovely little restaurant with attentive staff!

We came here for the first time last night and was not disappointed. We hadn't booked a table and as it was slightly busy we thought they would not be able to accommodate us. However we were seated straight away. I think I'd book in the future to be on the safe side. We ordered pollo casa and penne mamma for our mains and they were very tasty. You could taste all the flavours as described on the menu and the portion sizes were decent. The chips that came with the chicken were spot on, probably one of the best homemade chips I have had in a long time. Staff were very pleasant and friendly. Would definitely return.

I was in with my wife and our friends I had steak and prawns which were beautiful the only thing that let our visit down was the young lad serving the drinks he appeared vacant most of the night which may explain why he never got our drinks correct which spoilt the night as we are too polite to make a fuss which spoilt the evening as half of us were not drinking the drinks we wanted! maybe he doesn't understand English??? Therefore maybe he should learn some but because of this we will not be returning, my wife believes she heard his name as zabateen!!! It's a shame we won't be returning as the food was nice just the other service we received was not ☹️

Visited for lunch today after reading good reviews,felt rather disappointed with the surroundings more like eating lunch in someone's living room as opposed to a restaurant,service ok but disappointing menu,and the free glass of wine advertised online with every main course did not materialise!!!in my opinion the Italian kitchen and Bellini's are much nicer!!!

The food was average the salmon had a funny taste not like the fresh salmon I usually have in my home town! I suffered with an upset stomach and I am 100% it was this food!!!! The waiting staff were young and inexperienced and at times looked miserable and my wife asked for a drink 5 times off the tall miserable looking waiter and he just looked through her like she wasn't even there!!!!! Very rude and overall made it a very uncomfortable and very forgettable experience and I certainly won't be recommending to anyone in future!!! AVOID!!!!!!!!!!!

This little gem is hidden above the Wheatsheaf pub in West Boldon. A wonderful place to eat but not for the less mobile - the restaurant is situated at the top of quite a narrow, shallow staircase. Upstairs the restaurant is divided up between what was, presumably, the rooms of the home in times past. This gives it a cosy, quirky feel. It gets full quickly (we saw people turned away) so please always prebook. The menu is lovely and just a little different - yes there is calamari on the starter menu, but this is not battered or fried - rather it is served, 'bare' in a sauce and was beautifully cooked, not rubbery or chewy at all. There was pizza and there was pasta too. Our party had freshly made lobster ravioli, and the parcels were full of beautiful white meat. There are other dishes of all kinds. My chicken in orange sauce was wonderful and really did just melt in the mouth. The Nutella tiramisu also went down extremely well. Service was quick, food was fresh, incredibly tasty and really well priced - 3 starters, 3 mains, 1 dessert, 2 beers and 1 soft drink came to around £55 - less than £20 a head. We would highly recommend this restaurant and cannot wait to go back.

Went to Leonardos for the first time at the weekend, lovely atmosphere, great food and lovely friendly staff. Will definately return.

We decided to visit after my son had been there for Sunday lunch. There were olives on the table and a free appetiser of bruschetta. I had garlic mushrooms with mains of lobster ravioli and penne siciliano. The staff were attentive and the atmosphere was very good. I would certainly recommend dining here.

I visited this restaurant many moons ago under previous management/ownership and it was very quiet and atmosphere less. I was really surprised to walk in mid week to a very busy, bustling and well presented restaurant with great ambience . The staff are characters and go above and beyond the norm. Definitely recommend it.

Visited Leonardos after a recommendation and had a really good night out. The place was full and buzzing when we arrived and there was an immediate sense of people enjoying this restaurant. The place is not massive so booking suggested. From the start the staff were really well organised and friendly, and the menu choice was excellent. The specials board offered some interesting new dishes and overall we were impressed by the range of food offered. Everything seemed reasonably priced and we thought it was good value.Leonardos provided bruchetta while we were waiting for our starters and bread rolls to accompany the meal. All the food was delicious particularly the Tiramisu which is a house speciality and the best we have tasted.We will be going back as this is now our favourite local Italian!

4 of us visited, 2 had the steak, / had chicken......it was lovely!!! Table came with complimentary olives which were amazing, we paid for a top up! Sides of chips and veg were excellent! Staff were great.We will definitely be back!

This is a very nice watering hole with good food and very very friendly staff. On the small size, but is still worth a visit as the staff make you feel welcome.

This is a truly special Italian restaurant due to the service provided by Marcello and the rest of the staff. The food is excellent and the chefs often come out of the kitchen to say hello and goodbye. I highly recommend this place, especially to couples.

We visited for a early teatime meal and loved it. Have heard nothing but good reviews so thought it was time we visited. The food was amazing, staff were all very nice and friendly. Setting was lovely too. Even came away with a doggy bag as the kids couldn't finish their food. Very reasonably priced. We will be back.

Visited last Thursday with my girlfriend. Lovely little restaurant was made to feel welcome straight away by staff. Was given complimentary snacks to start nice little touch. Then starters and main were served very quickly looked and taste great with complimentary sambuca at end. Will definitely come back here as reasonably priced as well.

We were recommended Leonardos a while ago by friends,however we didn't get round to making a visit until yesterday (Sunday).From the moment you enter the restaurant you feel a fantastic welcoming atmosphere.The staff are second to none,both polite and proffesional.Then the food, got to be the best Sunday lunch in the area,for both quality choice and quantity.All in all very impressed and we will be back.We will certainly recommend Leonardos to both familly and friends. Had a beautiful meal for mine and my dads joint birthday. The staff are very friendly, made us feel at home and were excellent with my baby sister. Food was delicious, the only down side was waiting 10 minutes everything we ordered a drink. But over all very nice, we'll be back soon.

Following a friends recommendation, Leonardo's most definitely didn't disappoint! We had homemade meatballs and the king scallop special as starters, both were delicious followed by 'penne mamma' - (chicken arrabbiata) and fillet steak with king prawns in a cream, garlic & brandy sauce, cooked perfectly as I'd asked - blue. To finish - an amazing tiramisu! The staff were welcoming and very friendly as well as efficient too! We will be returning!!

The food and service in Leonardos is second to none, lovely Italian food, but one of my favourites is their mixed grill, WOW!!!! The staff are so welcoming and friendly, have been many times as a couple and also with family for special occasions, never been disappointed .

Visited this restaurant few years ago , wasn't great then , however , have revisited , in the last month , on the recommendation of a very good friend , this is an excellent Italian restaurant , great food , great service , influenced by the great Marcelo .

Third time we've been here to this lovely hidden gem, Marcello is a great host,very friendly along with his excellent staff, the food here is top quality, well worth a visit time and time again. Said it before and I'll say it again, we will be back very soon

They have never failed to produce fantastic food and a friendly service. We also came here for Christmas day lunch and again we could not pick faults in the service or food. Definitely a highly recommended restaurant.

I visit this restaurant regularly. The food is consistently good with great prices. Service is very friendly and family owned. There is also free parking outside the restaurant and other bars nearby. I see so much potential when I visit this restaurant and business. It is good but it could be amazing with a few small sophisticated changes. For example how the menu and special board is presented. It looks old fashioned (for example compared to somewhere like Jamie Oliver's Italian or Romanos) and also a little ragged. Other suggestions for improvements are to the layout of the seating areas. But don't let this put you off. The food is good, the place is clean and definitely worth a visit if you are looking for tasty traditional Italian food.

First time to Leonardo's and had an amazing time! Recommended by a friend, incredible atmosphere and staff were fantastic. Marchello is made for front of house. Food is fantastic and would give 10/10. We love you Marchello and Sabatino!

Visited for happy hour on Tuesday evening, Once again we thoroughly enjoyed our meal, and the staff as always are a joy,Two Stagioni pizzas, Half Pizza and Chips, Side of Chips, Garlic Bread to share, two lovely pints of San Miguel, Two cokes and a bill of only £34,Pizzas were delicious, can't fault this place, my son Ben will be back for his job when he gets a bit older!Thanks again for a lovely early evening out.

Visited recently with family and all enjoyed our meal. Very much a family feel to the restaurant, excellent service. Unexpectedly visited during happy hour as well so prices were very good.

Mid week meal with family very nice. Restaurant busy and food hot and tasty. Mixture if starters and mains from both the standard menu an the specials board. Can't complain everything very nice

Lovely friendly restaurant, with fantastic food... But what makes this as special is Marcelo this guy is a legend I Couldn't recommend this place enough.

We eat here a lot a it's our favourite place for consistently great food. Staff are fantastic and the atmosphere is just right. They cook great seafood dishes and if you are on a budget they have a happy hour for cheap Pasta and Pizza. always best to book as it's quite a busy place nowadays.

Staff are absolutely top class, food is phenomenal and always fresh. Probably the best italian I've ever ate at.

have visited here a good few times and we are always impressed. the menu is very good and always well cooked. the staff are excellent( maybe a touch too over attentive) but we can live with that and i suppose it,s better that service is this way as opposed to the blase could,nt give a monkeys type of attitude

My sister lives near by and we often go there for family meals out.Her two children describe Leonardos as their all time favourite restaurant. The staff friendly, attentive and efficient. The food is so also outstanding.Worth a visit

Visited this restaurant for Sunday lunch. Very impressed from beginning to end. Lovely decor and friendly welcome. Cosy surroundings and spotlessly clean.Opted for Roast Beef and Yorkshire Pudding. Very large helping of beef and giant yorkshire pudding. Good selection of vegetables also well cooked. Really enjoyed and was so full couldn't eat a desert. Will definitely visit again.

Amazing food and service would highly recommend a visit. Not expensive however food quality is very high. Loved it and will be going again.

Decided to chance an early table mid week - we were luck to get a table for two.Hubby had prawns n salmon and potatoes skins to start . Hubby's chicken was perfect and my lasagne was the best I have ever had at Leonardos - the reason why ? more mince meat :) veg as usual was perfect.We both thoroughly enjoyed our meal

As always my favourite place to go, Sunday dinner is amazing and for 3 courses the offer is real value for money, why anyone would go to somewhere like a toby is beyond me! Really looking forward to returning with friends on the 13th for Sunday dinner and again on 19th for birthday meal (if I didn't go to family for Christmas I would be going here)

This was our second visit to this restaurant and again we were very pleased with the service, the quality of the food, the friendliness of the staff and the layout of the dining area. We liked the fact that olives and bread were on each table which you can have whilst perusing the menu. We will return and would recommend a visit.

Gorgeous food, friendly attentive staff; listening to the waiter who lists 'the specials' always cracks me up! First time we went it felt like we were old friends! Very reasonable prices and great range of dishes including vegetarian. Only thing I'd bear in mind is a request not to be seated at the 'contingency' table ... a table wedged in near the bar all on its own where you're kind of cut off from the rest of the restaurant, and staff are constantly squeezing past with drink orders. Our own fault for booking last minute though.

A beautiful restaurant in west Boldon. The food was gorgeous and the service was superb. We can't wait to return. We would definitely recommend.

First time at this restaurant - will definitely go again. Food was delicious, staff very friendly and welcoming. Lots of lovely little touches were brilliant ie water jug provided on table, bread and olives on table (not charged), complementary bruschetta served which was delicious, complementary baileys / limoncella. Atmosphere was great - warm and welcoming. Table a little small for three people - but we managed fine. Overall a lovely restaurant - will definitely be going back !

This was the second time we have visited this restaurant. My partner was not keen to go back because she felt rushed on the first visit. Unfortunately we felt exactly the same this time. The staff are very welcoming and friendly however they are constantly at the table, often different staff asking the same question. It felt like an exercise in how quickly to get us seated, served and to pay the bill. After saying we didn't want a dessert the bill was produced within minutes!! The food is tasty however we would not go back, we like to feel relaxed whilst having a meal.

The place has a nice feel but the staff are at your table every few minutes. My husband and I had different chicken dishes and both found the meat tasteless. Mine was chicken in a brandy and cream sauce with mushrooms and prawns but in fact they were tiny shrimps and the sauce left a lot to be desired. The desserts however were lovely.

The food was very good the staff were extremely nice and tentative ,the atmosphere was relaxed and the surroundings are clean and chic. It's nice to see olives and bread on the table so many places now charge for this. Our starters were hot and tasty as were our mains everything had a fresh just made feel look and taste. The portion sizes are generous and the food is not drowned in sauce as is so many Italian restaurants. Price wise not bad but not silly cheap where you get fed rubbish.A nice relaxed place to eat and socialise.
