Rude to customers and to their staff, no respect for women whatsoever! I asked them not to add too much spice to my kebab because im pregnant and what they did is put TONS of it and I tried to explain I can't take that much he got mad and told me to go look for somewhere else because im "giving him a headache"?! What a misogynistic! Avoid at all costs! I could tell how abusively they talk to their staff as well!

We went in on a whim and it changed our lives! I haven't had a lamb shawarma wrapthis good in over a decade since I moved to the UK. Best shawarma anywhere north of the mediterranean. The bread was perfect, the sauces delicious and the vegetables fresh. Excellent service, friendly staff, clean shop and affordable prices. I can't wait to go back!

To be honest, one of the best Shawarma wrap I've ever ate in Edinburgh. Good amount of mixed meat, mixed souces with spicy kick, vegs. Full of flavour, full of taste! Reasonable price. Highly recommended place.

Many years ago, when I was in Damascus, I had the most delicious falafel sandwiches from street vendors. I’ve never had falafel that even comes close to that. Until now. This place really do the most fantastic falafel sandwich, totally authentic to the Middle East. The place is clean, well run, and the food truly delicious. You can’t go wrong.

Went in for lunch. Staff were pretty neutral. Ordered the BBQ chicken wrap. The chicken was pretty bland, the only flavour was from the garlic and chilli sauce. If you are advertising something as BBQ, you expect a BBQ taste, either with the marinade or the cooking over charcoals, they have an electric grill and no marinade on the chicken, so no BBQ taste, a case of false advertising. Cost was £11, for wrap and can of soft drink, bit pricey for a wrap. Definitely not recommended.

The mixed vegetarian wrap was absolutely delicious - generous portion for a very reasonable price, lovely fried cheese (hallloumi) and tasty falafel. The salad items inside the wrap are fresh and crunchy. I got chilli sauce and garlic sauce with it which gave it a great kick. Veggie options can sometimes be boring but not here! Very happy, will be back

Nice guys working there but probably the worst shawarma on Leith Walk. Had at least three bites where there was so much fat/gristle I couldn’t chew through the meat - isn’t the point of slow cooking something on a rotisserie that you avoid that? The only excuse I can think of is that they’re using super low quality cuts of lamb. Maybe ok if you’re really drunk and want something late at night otherwise there are several better options nearby

I popped in on Saturday night, at about 10pm and tried to order a chicken fatayer. I've never had that before and still haven't. My experience with Leith Shawarma got off to a rocky start as they told me I could only have a lamb shawarma wrap. The chicken and everything else had sold out. I was third in line and I guess the other two people had managed to order the last of the chips, because they both picked up large orders of generous piles of carved meat, chips and wraps. I was jealous. After a few minutes of waiting the preparation on my lamb shawarma wrap started. The wrap looked good and more like a skinny naan than a tortilla wrap. I had everything on it and worried that would cut into my meat allowance. I'm glad to say, it didn't. So, here's the good news; my lamb shawarma wrap was large and delicious. The wrap was wonderfully light, yet filling. The lamb was tasty, fresh and carved expertly. There's a generous amount and not swamped with the veggies. I will and would come back here but I'm not sure I'd walk past other good Shawarma venues. If they continue to sell out of core menu items a full hour before closing then that'll be both frustrating and a good sign, meaning Leith Shawarma is keeping things fresh and being popular. [March 24 update - happened in again, still good enough and clean]

Easy the best Shwarma we ever had Mixed option gives you in my opinion the best experience. Lamb great! Flavoursome, nice charring on that. Chicken nice and juicy. They don’t overload it with salad and sauces. Just a right ratio. For 10£ in current world it’s a great value too. Will be coming back very often from now on Keep it up boys!!

Stopped in after a day out at the Rugby, we ordered the chicken wrap and the mixed chicken and lamb pizza which was just what we needed. Would definitely come back for food again.

I tell everyone about the halloumi wraps from here. Watching the halloumi be deep fried and the naan be cooked - its like being in a much better version of Subway! When I get one of these its such a great treat. If you like halloumi wraps, you've got to try one from here!

Disappointing, overpriced, frustratingly stingy. Chicken wrap - see photo :( Did i order the kids portion for adult price? Why even bother boxing it in a box double its size? Meat "Ftayer" option is actually a greasy cheese pizza with some "very few" old burnt cuts - see picture. Want a much much better shawarma? Go to nearby Slemany grillhouse. You're welcome. You want a regular shish, chips or grill? Go to Leith best kebab house. Pfffttt. There should be a ban on using Shawarma name on disappointing wraps. Edit Jan 2024, or 8 months later: From 2 to 4 stars Looks like they listened to all the feedback and there was an improvement in quality, taste and portion size. I wouldn't recommend the meat Shawerma as it is usually more chewy fat than meat.

I’m a person of consistency. I have my regular places. So it took a number of whiskies and a closed kitchen late one Friday night at mother superior for me to try the new shawarma place up leith walk. I don’t remember much that night but I remember feeling great the next day. That is key. Food that makes you feel good after eating it. I have been back for lunch a number of times and i have to say it’s delicious, generous serving sizes, and consistent. Prices are on point. Today, whilst waiting for my order I was given a sample of the chicken on a fork and him saying “you have to try this”. This is not an unnoticed gesture. It helps with the anticipation when you’re starving. It also shows that the staff are proud of what they are serving. The place is also the cleanest facility on this side of the Mississippi. Immaculate. The knives are sharp, the staff are very friendly and fast, they will suggest things to the indecisive, and the ingredients are fresh. I will go here at least once a week until the end of days. Top tip: get there right when they open for that crispy cooked meat on the vertical rotisserie. The halloumi wrap is a great vegetarian option that won’t disappoint the carnivore who doesn’t want a food coma when there is still work to be done after lunch.

It's good enough - the shawarma is good, and hefty meals. The main problem I have with the place is that it's too pricey. £9 for a wrap and £2 for a small canned drink. Put me off a little. Good food but to go back for those prices I'm not sure.

Yet another overpriced, underwhelming 'fancy' kebab shop, kebab meat is cheap as is salad bread and white sauce but put them together and hey presto 12 to 15 quids worth, what? All about profit not about being in any way unique, food comes in a slightly nicer box and the shop looks clean i guess however as a close neighbour of this shop I'm disappointed.. I was hoping for better..

I went today to have a mixed shawarma, which costs £10. Was it worth? No!!! I specially told them not to put BBQ sauce but they only put it instead of mayo, garlic mayo and ketchup. I don't know whether it was to provocate me. They wouldn't change or replace it. While eating my food, they (staff members) were continuously reminding me to clean my table and put all the waste papers in the box beside the counter. I don't understand how such establishments and arrogant staff members with such horrible service are allowed to continue in such a beautiful city like Edinburgh. Please train your staff members to be polite to all customers without discrimination. In addition, please provide a wash basin or restroom (for health and safety reasons). I wouldn't recommend this shop to those who wish to eat good shawarma or kebab. Please try some other shop or restaurant, if you can.
