Legend - Deli in Southend-on-Sea

I ordered from here for the first time today. My neighbour recommended them to me, I’d never heard of them before !? So we ordered a roast ( beef ) and the big kahuna burger with fries, wings and macaroni cheese. Very happy, just disappointed that I didn’t know about these guys before! Will definitely be ordering again in the near future. If you’ve not tried these before then you’re missing out big time!

Have used Legend Deli many a time for the Sunday roasts. Slightly disappointed with the pork today as the crackling was soft. Also mentioned to the lovely delivery lady that I’d paid for a tip with the order, which she then tells me they don’t actually receive the tips. As a former delivery driver this is most unfair and very misleading.

We ordered the adults roast and one for our child today and it was excellent. The food arrived spot on the booked time slot and it was pipping hot when it came. The portions were generous and the quality of food superb. Highly recommend.

My wife brought me here for my birthday meal after reading great reviews and it did not disappoint. The woman there (who I believe is one of the owners) was really lovely and accommodating and the food was outstanding. Super eclectic menu choice but it all works well together. Will defo be coming back to try the roast!

My youngest daughter and I shared a rotisserie roast for 4 (my eldest refused) But nothing went to waste as I had it for dinner the following night. The portions were great the food itself was tasty and satisfying. I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to have one. I have told loads of people so hope you get loads more business buy still have plenty left for me! 😁

Stumbled upon this little gem, the photos online looked so good we decided to try a takeaway. I ordered the bacon cheese smash burger and my husband ordered the big kahuna (and it was very big!) We both loved our burgers, they were so tasty, well filled and juicy. We also got the Korean chicken wings and really enjoyed the flavours. The lady in the restaurant called us just before our order was ready and she was polite and friendly when i picked it up. Would definitely recommend... already thinking of what to order next time!

We ordered a roast from Legend Deli and it was such a let down. We’ve really enjoyed their burgers before so was excited to try the roast. The delivery slot was 5-6pm and it turned up closer to 7… then the quality of the food was awful. The potatoes had zero flavour and tasted like aeroplane food, and the beef was tough and dry. Unfortunately we won’t be ordering from here again.

Order this as a takeaway with my partner! Amazing experience, delivery was super quick and the food was piping hot! Food quality was incredible, everything was cooked perfectly, seasoned really well and tasted amazing! Straight 10 out of 10. Absolutely incredible.

Due to some COVID issues we decided to try Legends Xmas dinner delivery. We had used them many times before for Burgers etc so we knew the quality was high. We ordered on-line, quick and easy with a very competitive price for four people. The meals arrived on time with clear instructions. Easy to cook on the day and wow! Huge portions, quality meats and veg and lovely, tasty desserts. We couldn’t, manage to eat it all! Fabulous value. We would highly recommend them and would definitely use again. Thank you Legends.

We ordered from their website to tonight and got a Jerk and BBQ Nan Wrap, Korean Nugz and Chunky Chips. The food was excellent and really generous portions. Highly recommended!

Had a takeaway delivered from Legend Deli this evening. Portions were huge and the burger and fries were delicious. Couldn’t fault the food, we both went for the bacon & cheese burger. I’ve had burgers from other restaurants in the area and they aren’t up to the standards at Legend Deli. Food arrived nice and hot and 20 mins earlier than estimated. (I did warm mine up, but it would have been perfectly edible at the temperature it arrived) Next time I order I’ll be sure to try the naan wrap!

Absolutely stunning takeaway, foods hot and super fresh! Portions are epic and we felt full for days after! Totally recommend the chicken! Turf and turf is immense!!

I posted this on the Just Eat site but will repost it here again to warn people. I am very gullible when it comes to food and don't mind mistakes or mess-ups, but the quality of the food here is despicable. The burger was worse than what you get for £2 at a chicken shop. Mac and Cheese was chunky and a spoonful of pesto was slapped on top. Chicken "nugz" were bad quality and had a fatty texture to it. The wrap was incredibly plain and was again not at all worth the price. If this was a very cheap takeaway place i'd be okay with what gets served, but this is embarrassing. £50 was spent on this meal and I would say it wasn't even worth 10. Me and my partner went a little extra because we had something to celebrate. Now we just feel cheated out of our money. Will never order from this horrid place again.

Just had a delivery from Legend Deli and it was outstanding. Burgers amazing, Mac and cheese was to die for! Piping hot, top quality ingredients and an excellent website. First time we've used them and can't wait to order again. The menu is vast and varied too. Fantastic!!

We have just had the most amazing roast delivered. I would highly recommend, the food was gorgeous and so much of it! Unlike others we have tried during lockdown, it was piping hot when it arrived!

We ordered the New Years Day roast for 2 people and it was incredible; excellent portion size and delicious food. The roast arrived lovely and warm and you get a selection of 3 meats, along with vegetables, a yorkshire, stuffing and more. We could have done with a bit more gravy but maybe that was just us being greedy. Would highly recommend and would definitely order again.

Legend Deli has always been a superb local small business. Its a restaurant / cafe that has a great menu and fantastic quality food. We had a take away delivered tonight a souvlaki, a smash burger kebab, chicken tenders and chicken fried halloumi fries. All were delicious, very generous portions.Happy to confirm their new location has not at all impacted their quality. Will be ordering again.

The food is outstanding here. Worth every penny. The brisket was soooo good. Brilliant burgers with large gherkins. Would defiantly recommend you give this place a go you will be pleasently surprised 👍

I’m a regular of Legend’s awesome Sunday roast delivery service. It is second to none. Carvery sized portions with gourmet flavours dropped to your door. The potatoes and gravy are outstanding. The meat is always succulent. Legend’s steak burgers are also melt in the mouth delicious. Top food, top people. 10/10

We have had two deliveries during this lockdown and cannot fault - totally amazing one of the best and will continue - had eaten previously in the restaurant so knew the quality - would totally recommend

Having had lunch here 3/4 times over the past few years we were very pleased that they started to deliver. We have now had Sunday lunch the past 3 weeks, all delivered at different times to 3 different addresses. Food had been outstanding. Always hot and extremely tasty. We truly hope that this situation will be the making of Legend Deli and they can go from strength to strength once we are back to “normal”. We can’t thank you enough, I can’t wait for Monday mornings now when we can preorder for the next week!!!

Delivery ordered, turned up really quickly and was absolutely delicious!! I had the big kahuna burger and my wife the Parmo chicken burger. These are premium quality burgers and are worthy of that. Chips were upgraded to house fries which were fluffy on the inside like a good roast potato. I can recommend this place wholeheartedly!!

I say 'secret' but really, anyone who loves food and lives in Southend knows this place. The reason is simple: interesting, original, tasty food is guaranteed. There's good reason this place is booked out so often, and it's to be found in the unpretentious focus on delivering great food at a price that would be at least double if you were sitting in a 'trendy' Shoreditch eatery. The ever evolving menu serves up some really interesting combinations you'd not see elsewhere alongside great versions of more traditional bistro style food. Bring your own bottle policy makes for well priced but excellent dining. Service with a smile, you can tell they have a passion for the food they create - I always end up chatting about some of the latest creations.

We had another Sunday lunch delivered. Honestly this could become a regular habit! If you are after a nourishing, well cooked Sunday lunch delivered to your door then why are you still reading this and not ordering / booking it now! Friendly delivery driver. Delivered well within the delivery window. If you want to arrange a treat for someone who perhaps is recuperating this is nourishing food literally on a plate. Recommended.

Really fantastic food and fantastic service. Was recommended by a family member and glad I went ahead and ordered! I’m vegetarian so I get the vegan option and my partner eats meat so he has plenty of options available. Lovely, delicious roasts with so many flavours. Only thing I just need to mention is the vegan roast has a little too many vegetables. I never finish them as there’s too many! The food is fantastic however and the delivery service is great. Please keep up the fantastic service!

i don't have take aways all that often, so when i do, I try to go for something good and a bit different. This was 1st time ordering thru the app (had just just eat before but prefer to avoid them having to pay commission to just eat) - had the roast service before which was amazing. I pre ordered a few hours in advance and the order arrived right on time and lovely and hot - excellent friendly service.

Ordered a "roast with the most" with extra stuffing and pigs in blankets yesterday. So much food for two people and all tasted amazing!!!!

Stumbled upon this gorgeous hidden gem a few years ago & visit whenever we’re in Southend. I’m vegetarian, he isn’t & this is perfect for both of us. Friendliest staff, wonderful fresh tasty food, good portions, amazing art work and fair prices. What more could you ask for? We’ve only had breakfast or lunch here, must aim for a dinner date soon

Been a fan of this place for a while and many great meals, so we thought we would give the delivery a try.

Me and my Mrs have been eating here for years and the food is off the scale!! If you want gourmet style food here’s your place! Massive stacked out sandwiches that you find nowhere else.. just take a look at the specials board and you will lose time trying to decide, however whatever you decide you will be left coming back for more (not on the same day because the dishes are soooo filling) well done guys

First time at Legend Deli, we went for a work meal, Jo seated us straight away. Very warming atmosphere it’s very homey.

Well what can I say about this little gem of a place that hasn’t all ready been said. We have visited the restaurant and dined in the evening and the food was great the choice on the menu is surprising different what a breath of fresh air. We were there on the night they started just eat and they had a few teething issues but watch out for this I’m sure they are going to bounce back in style. We have also had the pleasure of the roast dinner delivery service and it was faultless all the food was piping hot and delicious and so much of it too very impressed all round. I’m actually looking forward to trying their lunch menu. A big thank you to all the staff and chef and also Julie our waitress on the evening what a lovely place. Thank you all very much

Well, who would have thought that ticked away down a side street off Southend high street would be this hidden gem of a cafe?

Let me tell you, this place is amazing, I don’t usually like roast dinners but me and my partner opted to get one delivered (first time from legend deli) and it may have been the best meal I’ve had in VERY long time, the meat was so tender the gravy was amazing, potatoes were cooked to perfection, all the veg was absolutely beautiful so beautiful in fact that the little one in my wife’s belly was kicking away the whole meal so they even have my unborns approval, smashing food, smashing service GIVE THIS PLACE A TRY! Great food and great work!

Good food, well priced, and delicious. Reminiscent of Eastern cuisine and was varied and delicious. Opportunity to sit outside if weather permits and the inside decor is quirky and interesting. The staff are quick and friendly, the food is imaginatively plated and nothing disappointed.

What a quirky, friendly,very well priced, deli. The food was delicious and the menu SO interesting and different and the service so good. It is cozy but lots of outdoor seating for warmer drier days. I am looking forward to a return visit as soon as possible.

Jay and Jo cooked for us at our wedding and it was only right to come and see them for an anniversary meal and amazing as always I would say this restaurant is a hidden gem food is by far the best in southend!!!! If you haven't already tried get down there now can not recommended these guys enough x

Legendeli was an absolute delight to eat in this Saturday! we were a group of 5, one vegetarian toddler and one fussy 7 year old. the food was fresh and tasty, home cooked yumminess. the manager was friendly, helpful, answered all questions and her customer service was ON POINT! Please please please open up another one near where I live do I can eat there every day!

Food superb and Tsasiki really good, BUT chips at £3.75 a portion which is tiny and lots of salad and rice does not make up for cost. Not enough flat bread. Only had a small so the extra £2 for large may have been better. Partner said her meal was very good as well. Do not expect to pay a delivery charge for over £20 order. Will I bother again? Maybe in the restaurant but not on delivery again, as £22.25 for 2 take outs is dearer than I think is equitable.

Outstanding fresh food that will leave you planning your next meal/takeaway. The roast dinners are absolutely amazing and take away the stress of cooking for a big family on a Sunday and then tackling a mountain of washing up, they are always delivered piping hot and packed full of flavour and the best ingredients, my Sundays are infinitely less stressful when we use the Roastery service. We decided to try the latest burger and kebab service on the new website and we thought both were absolutely delicious. There is a lot of burger competition in the town but this wins hands down, cooked to perfection and so fresh, love the oozy cheese and fresh brioche bap - amazing!! The kebabs are on another level and you can see just how much work has gone into each dish and also how much pride is taken in the cooking and serving the most appetizing food possible. Very talented chefs ! Thank you so much !

Friendly, lovely service and very tasty food. A great choice of differently flavoured meats/kebabs. Masaman beef was delicious. Only criticism is if it says spicy please make it spicy and perhaps a few too many things on one plate. Overall very good 😀

We went with two children and the only problem is the toilet, is small there is not a changer room for them. Food and personal was amazing, they also have veggie option for most of things. Definitely I recommend this place.

I've eaten here a few times now and they always serve consistently fab food. I've eaten both the meat dishes and the vegan dishes. Both equally tasty. It's a small restaurant with lots of character. I enjoy eating here.

A hidden gem with some outside seating for those sunny afternoons. The chicken breast burgers were fantastic and the cheese sauce was so good. We also had the hand cut chips that makes a change from the normal frozen type.

We was looking for somewhere different lunch we found the legend deli of the main high street. We were greeted with a lady called jo we asked to see the menu which she came out with and sat down on a seat outside . Great menu lots of choices we had chicken wraps with a yoguart dressing and a small salad absolutly fab then ended with cofee and a light drink for my daughter . Service was great ! Will be going back soon

This is my second visit to the legend deli and the food is absolutely out of this world. The service is quick and the staff are very friendly. We came at the busiest lunch hour and our service was still incredible. The food was absolutely delicious and I will most defenitaly be back again to enjoy another meal from there mouth watering menu. Thanks guys

I had jerk halloumi salad and the flavours were amazing. My partner had the Caesar Salad and the chicken had a really tasty crispy mild spicy coating. My friend really enjoyed her turf and turf and my Dad said it was the best souvlaki he's ever had. Pop up Street food, but on a plate with a knife and fork and a nice place to sit. Service 1st class. Thank you so much for fitting us in tonight. The pork belly starter was quite simply the most amazingly delicious dish and the Korean chicken I had to follow came a close second. The lady on the table next to me had the slow cooked lamb which looked incredible so I'll be back just as soon as I can to have that next time !

The food was absolutely delicious, came out quick and hot, and the menu is so varied and extensive it took me ages to choose. This is one of my favourite places to go, the food is absolutely insane. From steak to vegan ramen and so many things in between that you couldn’t even think about, this place basically had it all.

Visited today for lunch and what a complete joy! Definitely recommend the #parma burger. Delicious chicken and sauce on a brioche bun. Served with perfectly salted chip shop chips. Staff were great. Definitely will be back.

We stumbled across this excellent eatery and it was the highlight of our day trip. Freshly cooked homemade food, great food, loved the fusion vibe. Julie was an awesome host. Top top service- she even booked us into the local escape rooms.

I visited Legend Deli for a group meal on Friday night. I was so impressed. The food was spectacular to look at and was delicious to eat catering for all tastes. The service was outstanding - nothing was too much trouble. Excellent value for money. I thoroughly recommend this restaurant, it is so worth a visit and I look forward to going back.

Legend deli were fantastic tonight! I went many times when they first opened and I worked locally, but i haven’t been for a couple of years now - I was not disappointed on my return though! There was a party of about 12 of us which is difficult I know. Everyone’s drunk, no one knows what they’ve ordered in advance and the waiting staff have to work twice as hard and stay polite, which they most certainly did! Under busy circumstances, our waitress was amazing. The food was quality - really tasty. I had the jerk pork belly to start, and cod for main. I also had half the ramen with crispy chicken as a main too - all dishes were really tasty and filling. Great value, great food and lovely place. The staff were so friendly. Will definitely go again! Came here with 2 friends after hearing some good reviews and we were not disappointed. A large variety of burgers and other dishes which all looked amazing. I had the Viet Cong burger and it was delicious. We will definitely be back to try the other dishes. Our waitress was very friendly too!

So today was our 1st visit to legend-deli, wow ... fresh and tasty food, there was so much to tempt us, deciding was hard but eventually we made up our minds, would highly recommend the turf and turf .. we will be returning over and over to try the menu, will be ordering a roast for Sunday delivery too.

Food and service were brilliant! There's such a great variety of meals and they're very adaptable for fussy eaters like me. They even brought me a cheesecake with a candle in for my birthday.

Excellent food and service. Had the turf and turf burger and was stuffed half way through. But still managed to pinch some of the free dessert with a candle they brought my sister for her birthday!

What can I say but wow! The food was delicious. Can recommend the Turkish delight salad. One of the best salads I've ever had.

When you work all the time and literally craving a roast and just want to go home, mmmmm what to do? Hint to friends who don’t get the hint, go out but you don’t want to or find this place. So I’ve eaten in the establishment and was quite impressed with that. Was ecstatic to see they delivered roasts and after reading reviews, I thought I’d give it ago. This was all over Facebook messenger, literally had a look then asked what I had to do, response straight off, which was easy you just say what you want, contact number, address and say how you want to pay!. So anyway ordered the roast with the most and delivery slot and I was not disappointed, came in my allocated time, was so much food I’ll order smaller next time because I could of probably fed another and was amazing all mouth watering and just lush. Will order again without a single doubt!

Taste sensation, right on time, total satisfaction. After eating there a couple of times, I expected big things...and they delivered, quite literally. Great idea, and greatly received. So much flavour...left feeling like Oliver Twist-wanting more 🤲
