Lees Spice Lounge in Oldham

Good quality food, eaten here many times and always enjoy.

We dine at this restaurant frequently. Also have a family meal here every Christmas eve. No complaints about service or food but was very disappointed today to find we were charged £14.25 for 3 soft drinks. When we questioned the bill we were told a pint of coke and a pint of lime and soda are £4.75 each. A pint of beer is only £5.50. This is extortionate. My daughter works in 2 pubs. They charge £1 or £1.50 for the lime and soda and £3 for a pint of coke. I didnt leave a tip and in future i will be drinking either alcohol or tap water. Forget dry January! I feel robbed.

Went on Christmas Eve party of 11, food ok , service terrible table booked for 7pm waited 1 hour for papadoms, then 1 hour for starter and 1hour for main meal also had to keep asking for drinks, asked for the bill 5 times, won't be returning !

Great food not cheap but worth paying for good quality, great tasting curry. Good sized meals feed 2 adults with rice definitely recommend. Great free function room upstairs too for get together without worrying the kids will disturb other diners 😊 Oct 2024 ... been using this place for years very happy but then me and my daughter had severe food poisoning from here 100% she was sick an hour after eating and I shared the chicken rogan josh with her but had less than she did and I had sickness and the other end for a week. We were both severely poorly and even a week after still felt queasy. I complained to the restaurant but had no response. I reported to local council environmental health. Not been since. Very disappointed.

Love the Spice Lounge have been going for 6 years now and never had a bad meal we eat in and also have a delivery.

Had a take away and the chicken tikka pieces was like jelly had a really bad stomach this morning

Best Asian food I've had, and I don't even like Asian food! I can't handle spice at all, and usually brown people say that the food isn't spicy when it completely is! If you don't like spice, get the chicken tikka korma. Thank me later.

Every time we visit this restaurant it never disappoints. The menu choice has all the standards of other Indian restaurants but with so many unusual additions and recipes. The service is excellent and I can’t think why I’d now go anywhere else.

Always used to use Lees Tandoori over the road but it seems to have gone downhill. Been using Spice Lounge for some time now without any issues. With a food outlet consistency should be a priority the food tomorrow should be the same as it was the last time you visited.

Had a delicious take away from here last night. Mix starter, poppadoms, madras, haltering, rice and naan. Food was perfect, tender meat in the starters and mains and the spice levels were spot on. Thanks for throwing in extra poppadoms and chutneys to those ordered - always appreciate when places do this. Clean plates all round afterwards, highly recommend. Great to have such top notch curry in our part of the world.

Eaten at this restaurant on multiple occasions and always enjoyed the food with never a problem. The staff are always very friendly. Also when ordering a takeaway and living in a 3-mile radius the food arrives promptly and piping hot. Delivered drivers are some of the nicest people I’ve met and very well-mannered. 10/10 from me spice lounge.

Me and my partner came here and ordered the chicken tikka karahi and onion bhajis. The food was delicious and staff were very friendly! Would reccomend.

Could not fault the food & the service was very quick although we did book a table in advance, which is usually recommended. Only down side was staff clearing plates while people were still eating starters (leaning over people instead of waiting for the entire party to finish the course) & then hover as we got asked 3 times if everything was OK with the mains! Also the booths are quite uncomfortable. Would definitely try again, although probably for the takeaway instead of dining in.

I have tried Indian dishes in other restaurants. This one is one of the best. Despite the fact that the restaurant is not big, the service is of the highest quality. very tasty cuisine and good service. we will be back again!

Lovely meal with friends in a quiet, ambient atmosphere. Service excellent and the food second to none. I had the lamb shank which was absolutely magnificent. My wife had the chicken pasanda which was delicious. A vegetable dopiaza and a chicken tikka for our friends. Really first class sundries and one of the best Indian meals I can recall. Highly recommended.

Really busy tonight a testament to how popular this small Indian restaurant really is. And yet again they provide an excellent meal. Here, will always be my favourite. The lees spice lounge never dissapoints. As usual a great meal. Quick takeaway service, order spot on and hot.

Lovely food 😋 I mean delicious! good delivery time 🙂 use regularly. They left one dip of the order this time so I called so they could sort me out next time, within 10 mins they sent the sauce I was missing, 2 extra starters & papadums. Great place

Pretty Poor visit. There was decorations left up from previous functions. The soft drinks were flat. The service took a lot longer than expected. I nearly slipped and broke my neck in the toilets (no wet floor sign). The food was adequate, I've easily had better and cheaper elsewhere. I was charged for drinks that should have been included. Overall, very poor.

As per Google recommendation, we travelled from West Yorkshire to pick up a takeaway...Best I've ever tasted! My wife & I had a different order each and our food was equally delicious. Really polite staff. Restaurant looked busy which is always a good sign. This has become our new 'local' 😋😊 ★★★★★

A nice midweek treat Indian tapas

My first visit to Lees Spice Lounge on friend’s recommendation. We met with them and were sceptical but all our fears were allayed. A busy and vibrant restaurant…always a good sign. Very welcoming staff. A comprehensive menu and really exceptional food. Sadly they don’t serve Lassi or take Amex but apart from that, 1st class.

A stalwart in the local Lees community. Exceptional service and the quality of the food is always spot on. I have dined here numerous times over the last 5 years and every single time you are greeted by the warm and friendly staff. The range and selection of food available is great and includes many of the Indian / Bangladeshi and Pakistani classics, alongside some chef recommendations and specials. They also offer sizzling platters which always catch eyes of other diners when they are sent out from the kitchen. My personal favourite from here is the South Indian Garlic. A truly exceptional dish that is perfect every time. My only slight complain would be the drinks, if you are drinking alcoholic drinks you will be fine as they offer bottled beer, draught larger and a selection of wine. However, they do not have draught soft drinks. It all comes from bottles and so is sometimes flat or on it’s way out, which can be disappointing. The interior could also probably be expanded or modernised and I’m sure it would maybe attract people from further afield. But it is by no means shabby inside. This place is great for dining in or takeaway. Overall I would highly recommend if you are from the local area.

We ordered a take away delivery and unlike past takeaway deliveries we have had it wasn’t really up to scratch, the Chicken Tikka had shrunk in size quite a lot, the Madras sauce was not hot enough and the poppadoms had been stood for ages and we’re not fresh. Will try somewhere else next time.

Sat waiting for starter ie poppadoms for the last 35 mins service is poor.

Fantastic food and service at very reasonable prices

Me and my family are regulars and now have considered never coming back. We had a home delivery. Everything was fine, ordering and then payed, we had been told it would take half an hour until our food arrived. ONE HOUR LATER our food came and half of it was missing and what had remained had gone cold. When we called the lounge and asked the manager why half of our food was not there his response was “ oh, we are really busy tonight “ NOT OUR PROBLEM MATE! WE PAYED FOR THE FOOD AND YOU GAVE US HALF AND COLD FOOD. Sorry but who can remember to put in three mint dips but NO POPADOMS! Being busy should not affect your reading skills and your ability to pack food into a bag. if you were short staffed I would understand but this!!!! Expectations have been lowered drastically now. The owner didn’t even offer a refund for the food. I sincerely hope no one else ordering here as a similar problem.

For all the years I have been going here tonight's experience was not the best. Although I can understand the increase in prices with Covid and inflation at the moment, the service overall was not good. This is the 2nd time in the last month that I have ordered Lamb Tikka Nepali, to find that I have been given Chicken Tikka Nepali. When I raised it with the head waiter, he didn't seem to care and just walked off. Come on Lees Spice Lounge your better than that. Don't let your standards drop.

After having excellent takeaways from here in the past, the last 2 have been poor, especially the 1 ordered last night. The onion bhajis were rock hard, certainly not fresh, meat dishes didnt taste fresh ended up throwing the whole lot in the bin, tasted as though warmed up food in the microwave from the night before, £31 for 2 people money wasted. Prices gone up, standards gone down, very upset that I was served this substandard food and will have too look elsewhere now.

Lees Spice Lounge is by far the best Indian restaurant in Oldham. Been there well over 100 times and never had a bad experience. Staff are always friendly and attentive. The food is so good. It’s a pleasure to work your way through the menu trying all the different curries. My current favourite (and the one in the photo) is Naga Jal-Fry - with a keema naan bread. Be sure to phone ahead for a table at weekend, because it’s not surprising that they get very busy.

Better than expected. Lovely food at a good price.

My lady and i Fancied a nice takeaway last weekend. After much friendly debate i gave in and agreed that we would (as we were passing almost outside) try a nice pizza accompanied by a selection of sauces. We both agreed that this was our best choice. Very tasty good flavours and average price range. I would recommend any to give "Spice lounge" a try wether your passing through or trying to decide. Spice lounge wont let you down.. the queue inside was a bit long so a phone in order might be best for some..

Warm welcome, great atmosphere and fantastic food.

Very poor, have enjoyed eating in the restaurant before lockdown so was really looking forward to our takeaway, however starters poor..onion bhajis overcooked, Muchley Buran uninspired, Speciality Thawi was tough meat in a tomato not balti sauce, no spice/heat whatsoever, Handi again dull and too tomato, ? same sauce used? Pilau rice lumpy, Garlin nan passable, and price charged was higher than advertised.

Even when totally busy due to the lock down all I can say is AWESOME Thankyou xxx

The best bit about this place is there always consistent in what they provide & the customer service is at a higher standard then other places they out the customer first is what I like and how it should be. Overall they get a 4 star rating due to personal experience within the restaurant in hygiene.

The service really is fantastic at the Spice Lounge, serving a wide menu with great chef's specialities.

As Indian restaurants go this place is OK, the service isn't the best but adequate there are better curry restaurants within the area, this place is OK but just that

Order a take away veg starter cold, chicken biryani cold no taste and chicken very over done all went in the bin wont be ordering again

We recently ditched our old takeaway after poor service and food. We were recommended the Spice Lounge by friends and were not disappointed. The tandoori mixed grill was fresh, tasty and was accompanied by a great salad and naan. The problem with some takeaways is that they taste fake but everything about the Spice Lounge was real. My wife had tandoori lamb chops and stated they were the best she's had in years. The whole takeaway was about the spice rather than the heat of too much chilli or food dyes. Great food. Will use again and recommend.

A.M.A.Z.I.N.G you will be hard pressed to find a better tasting curry house anywhere on the north west, always great and always consistent!

Last few visits were great everything perfect meal spot on my favourite Indian by far and delivery always good too and the staff are wonderful too always friendly and know exactly what I want and how I like my food cooked. I never get ill from eating here that’s more than I can say for other places. Everything is clean I highly recommend eating here ! They do very well with serving a larger group too. Hopefully will order my Christmas Eve delivery as last year it was fantastic and have no doubt they won’t disappoint me this year Happy eating at my favourite India!

Based on take away for two people. Garlic nans were cool, soggy and had no/very little flavour of garlic. Onion bhaji were dried out. Main course was ok but nothing special. Also a bit expensive.

Last visit on 27th September not as good as a lot of previous visits but still ok. As the food was a bit oily for us and by nan bread wasn’t up to the normal standard either and the meals didn’t sit well on the stomach as we were all poorly after that visit but still going again today Saturday Oct. 5th so hopefully the high standard, which it usually always is,will return. saying that it is my favourite restaurant and normally the food is spot on m. The staff are very really lovely and aim to please. One blip out of many visits is not bad as mainly it’s a high consistent standard !

We went on Saturday and had not previously booked a table but were immediately accommodated. The restaurant itself is very tastefully decorated and looks very clean. The waiter attended us immediately and tool our order for drinks and meals. The drinks prices are very reasonable for a restaurant. The food arrived and it was delicious. Good size servings. A really enjoyable evening. We will definitely return .

We have been having takeaways for many years from the Spice lounge,we’ve always commented on order confirmation it’s less than 3 miles but tonight we’ve been charged £3 extra delivery . The driver checked on his phone 2.7 miles he rang the restaurant and they decided it was 3.5 miles ,the driver was told to take £25 & next time it would be an extra £3 for delivery. We rang the restaurant to question the price they couldn’t be bothered when we said we would take our business elsewhere & post on trip advisor. They offer free delivery on 3 miles radius on their menu,the Spice lounge can’t be bothered to honour that . We have noticed price increases but always stayed loyal even if though the food isn’t always worth the extra restaurant take away price.
