Fantastic food and service been many time.. its not cheapest its worth visiting every so often as special visit list..

All l can say is great place to dine

Lovely owners and well trained employees. Food is delicious and you really won’t get anything like it elsewhere. However, it is very expensive for an Indian restaurant and you don’t get much for your money. Have been coming as a regular for years and noticed smaller portions and less meat. Will still come back but probably not as often as it is can easily add up at £20 for a special curry. Spent £80 between two people with drinks and got a starter, and a main and side each.

Me and my partner went here after waiting for dinner after the reviews were outstanding. Firstly be skeptical with these reviews, they were rushing to get us gone even though it was empty, the rice and curry were tasteless, and a little overpriced. Honestly ready meals are tastier

Always guaranteed great service and food

Always made to feel very welcome and special when we visit Desi Lounge. Great food and attentive staff and owner, Shorcat ( not sure of spelling of name) gave us gift of a very large triple malt whisky at end of meal.

We ordered a takeaway last week and it was awful! For 4 popadoms, a portion of onion bhajis, (2), 3 mains, 3 rice and a peshwari nan, it cost £69!! Wtaf??? TAKE AWAY THAT WE HAD TO COLLECT!! My husband’s plate was swimming in water, the rice had no taste whatsoever! My Rogan josh had no flavour at all! My son’s vegan curry was also tasteless!! I regret to say I will never step foot in here or order a takeaway again!!

Went for Xmas day. Still one of the best places around, food is great and the service is perfect..

Have used this restaurant for over 30 years and always found food and service to be excellent. However, on my recent visit my lamb, Rogan Josh contained vegetables and a very small amount of meat. Happy for prices to go up, but do not expect the quality to go down. Extremely sad if this is the way forward.

Lovely restaurant. The manager is very attentive & the staff is well mannered and professional. Not cheap, but the food is excellent, hot and plentiful. Our meal for 2 came to £45 which included the pickle tray, main course and a bottle of Cobra each.

Fantastic food, can’t fault it. Service is excellent. Always top pint of Cobra on tap. Been many times and it’s always been spot on, won’t go anywhere else in the area for a curry. *****

Visited this restaurant on Saturday for the first time. I ordered the prawn Korma which was very plain and looked more like a tin of yellow soup with the smallest prawns I've ever seen in an Indian curry. The garlic nann was not nice,all cut up,very greasy and undercooked. I have had many Indian meals and cook my own,and this unfortunately was the worse I've had. The waiters were also quite cheeky and not at all witty like they thought they were. I would not recommend this restaurant.

Absolutely stunning food and a huge choice of dishes on the menu. The Desi Murgh and Lamb Nihari are divine. Fantastic ambience and a really nice vibe. You can see why people go back time and time again. Fabulous hospitality and all the staff go above and beyond to look after you. Excellent service all around. Consistently good food under the watchful eye of the owner and his wife and attentive staff. A very good and wide ranging menu and if you have difficulty making your mind up the owner is happy to make suggestions.

Service and staff was nice. Didn't allow me to refund what was recommended and the curry lacked flavour (I am desi man)

Always excellent service, superb, fresh food. Can’t fault it. Been going here for the last few years every month or so. The team always welcome you with a warm smile, the food is never greasy like similar restaurants nearby. Always fresh and always tasty.

Food was ok, curries were quite nice but lamb was dry and inedible. I personally felt it was a little overpriced for what was served but the staff are friendly. It's a pretty restaurant, nice atmosphere overall.

Been here a couple of times in the last 3mths - both times were excellent - the staff really looked after us and the food was 1st class. Will be returning soon.

Food and service amazing. I highly recommend. The naan bread is divine. I tried the Desi special this time and was not disappointed. All the food here is always good.

Friendly welcome, seated straight away. We arrived about 10 minutes before the rest of our party and our drinks order was taken immediately. As soon as the rest of our party arrived, drinks order was taken at once and we were also asked did we want popodoms etc. popodoms arrived with spiced onion, mango chutney, yoghurt and mint dip plus a fresh herb tomatoes and onion dip, which was delicious. Two of our party wanted curries that were specific to their tastes and the waiter gave their wishes to the chefs and they both said their curries were fantastic. The rest of us ordered specials off the menu and they were all excellent. The Peshawari Nan was knock out good. The chilli paneer started was superb. 10 out of 10. If we are ever in the area again, we would revisit.

Staff are so friendly and welcoming and the food is always amazing.

We first came here the day it opened or very shortly after about 10-15 years ago and was not impressed, we have recently been back a couple of times and it was better than I remember, but still nothing special. The place is fine and does what it says on the tin, the food is very pedestrian, my go to tester dish of lamb Madras was ok and all in all the food was ok, quite clean tasting, but no highlights. Is there any reason we would not go back - no, but I have been steadily not eating Asian food as much for a while now and this restaurant would not make me change my mind.

The food here was absolutely outstanding. It was soo good! The staff was very friendly and funny. The restaurant was very fancy and very pretty. The service was okay, overall, i recommend this restaurant!

we was looking for somewhere where we had not been before and stumbled across desi lounge and friends recommend it when we mentioned we was going. Great friendly staff and very knowledgable. loved the banter from the manager and the owner helped my wife down the steps leaving as she was on crutches. Beautiful food, great atmosphere and we highly recommend it to all our friends. next time we will get a taxi so I can have a drink.

Visited here with family a couple of weeks ago and the food and service were both fantastic.

This place serves the best food on the planet bar non. The lamb nihari is the tastiest dish I've ever had. The staff are wonderful and the owners are the best I've ever met. I love this place ❤️

My first time dining here the restaurant is beautiful inside and the staff friendly and attentive but for me the food wasn't to my liking my karahi was bland my peshwari to to sweet and my friends tikka massala didnt taste right so for me I found it expensive. I dont mind paying alot but when I enjoy the food. Oh it was lovely you bringing the cake out and singing but the sparkler wasn't lit

I recently celebrated my 80th birthday along with my family 22 in total they all said the meal was excellent (varied) the service was first class and the staff are very friendly i would recommend the desi lounge to one and all

Great food from a locally favourite restaurant. Consistently good service, pleasant recently refurbished interior, and a great selection of authentic dishes. Too much choice to recommend individual dishes; however, the haandi and aloo bukhara dishes are really good, as are the herbal naan. Lovely restaurant, great service, great food, lovely staff & owner. Highly recommended!

The food here is really good quality. The restaurant itself is a nice place to eat. The bar island is a nice centre piece to the restaurant. When we visited it was a Thursday night so it wasn't very busy. We would highly recommend you check this indian out you won't be disappointed

Visited on a business trip on a Wednesday evening, hotel recommended. It was busy at 7.30pm a great sign. Excellent flavours and food spice was spot on. Really enjoyed the special recommendations.

I never leave reviews this is the 1st one I’ve ever wrote but I feel this place deserves one! The nicest curry about and great people! The lamb Nihari is the best curry I’ve ever tasted top quality lamb every time that melts in your mouth and the sauce just leaves your mouth watering!

We've been regular customers for years & introduced our kids (now grown) to this restaurant over 25 yrs ago at it's original home before moving to it's current location & name change. Always a warm welcome by the owner. Nothing is too much trouble. Food is fabulous & all sauces prepared on site to give a true authentic taste with flavours of the regions.

We’d driven past a few times so thought we’d try this place. We received a lovely welcome and were shown to a table away from the main section of the restaurant near the toilets. This was strange as there were plenty of free tables there. It didn’t bother us at first but as the evening wore on we did feel slightly abandoned. The good and of course most important part was the food. We shared a tasty chicken bhuna starter, then enjoyed a lamb handi, which wasn’t anywhere near as ‘hot’ as requested, nevertheless tender and well presented in its own pot. The star dish was the Tandoori Mixed Grill, brought to the table with a flourish on a sizzling hot plate. The lamb chops were divine, as were the chicken tikka and fish. Never sure about the kebab but the rest made up for it. Sides of Tarka Dall and Spinach were shared. Had a couple of beers and a decent Merlot house red. The big issue was the (dis)organisation of the service. Throughout the evening we were served by a total of 6 different people. This meant that no individual was looking after us, nobody came and asked how things were (not really 'hot') and at the end of the evening, when we wanted the bill, we had to virtually shout to the two ladies having a laugh at the bar. This surely wouldn’t work if they were full. We will come again, but we’ll order really hot food and ask to be seated in the main part of the restaurant.

Again our curries were superb. I ask the chef to make me a chefs special which isn’t on the menu which is never too much hassle for them. We’ve tried every curry restaurant in Oldham & some of the best rated Curry Restaurant's in Manchester & we are yet to find a better restaurant. Service 10/10. Food 10/10 & a great family own it.

Hands down the best place for delicious food. The chilli Paneer, best I've ever had!! The service is impeccable and staff the nicest you can encounter! My fav place to eat!!

A very welcoming restaurant from the started, greeted and seated within a short time.Drinks and order taken while we chat , the space between the table gives you your own space to chat with out being over heardDecor very pleasing.Starters arriving very quick and served piping hot.The main meal for the eight of us had no complaints.Will be revisiting

After sheilding for do long, going back to work getting covid , having a major flare up of arthritis I couldn't see how to start living again.I was very anxious about eating out and meeting a friend but I needn't have been.I love the Desi lounge and upto now had to have take out food while shielding etc.Tonight I met up with a friend had awesome food as always and the wine was fantastic.service was amazing just ad it was thank you so much xxx

We have been dining in this superb restaurant for years now and often dined in the previous restaurant they had years ago on Rochdale Road, Collyhurst Manchester.I can honestly say you will not be disappointed, the food is beautiful, not the usual run of of the mill cuisine found in other restaurants. The Desi special is delicious as is the lamb Nahari, cooked to pefecrion every time. Staff are friendly and very attentive. Highly recommended.

My only regret is that Desi Lounge is on my doorstep and we have never tried before. Just picked up a takeaway and it was amazing. I am still eating it now as I type but had to write a review. Best Indian in Manchester I have never been to a better one. Will 100% be back in person for a sit down meal in 2022!

Good quality, good service, but pricey

We had a reservation at another indian and had to wait 30 mins so we walked away and aftwr driving to another indian to be turned away and the when we got here they got us straight to the table. They joked and had a good laugh with us. The team were so friendly and had good recommendations on what to have. The cocktails were amazing. Definitely going again and id highly recommend anyone looking for a nice family friendly restaurant. Perfect for date night too. Not a boring moment there with the staff.
