We tried this restaurant the first time and it was a big disappointment. Hygiene is 1/5, we had to clean our plates. The ceiling and the lights had spider webs, yuck!. All the food tasted the SAME!!, and the portions were not even filling for kids. The waiter was very very rude. I would not recommend anyone this restaurant.

AVOID! Food hygiene has dropped to 1/5 and so has their customer service. Ordered online on their website and it took nearly 2 hours to arrive. I contacted them to cancel this order and refund me. The order was cancelled their end and I was told a manager will call me to sort out the refund. Nobody called me back and upon speaking to them today the manager said he will not be refunding the money and when I asked for his name he said it was 'boss'. Just shows what a joke of an establishment this actually is. Again please avoid and save your money. I'm lucky I've paid on credit card and can claim this back through my bank!

Ordered takeaway as we had one a couple of months ago and it was okay. Poppadoms and pickles were fine, starter’s okay but bland. Unfortunately the mains were disgusting - none of the ingredients that were supposed to be added, nasty tough chicken in all dishes, we threw most of it away but we all had a bad night with indigestion and sickness. Shame, but we won’t b returning.

Takeaway meal - starters very good, main course terrible, chicken tikka was tough and chewy, sauces not as described on the menu. Threw it all away. Shame because our last meal from here was brilliant. Perhaps the chef had an off day but all of the family had sickness during the night.

We had fond memories of Leeja Palace and it was always the go to restaurant for a special occasion. Fast forward many years and it feels similar..but different. The welcome and poppadoms were great. Sharing mixed platter at 13 quid was really lacking enough meat for two people. The mains were ok but easily finished all the meat. We all had Lamb and to be fair it was pretty good all round. £96 bill for a family of 4 seems expensive, especially when it's bring your own alcohol. Also was shocked to hear that the latest hygiene rating was 1 out of 5 🙃 It was OK but Tipu Sultan over the road is cheaper and much better quality food.

Firstly, the place is clean and the staff are friendly. The order was exactly what we ordered and the food was ready on time. Sadly the food was devoid of flavour. As someone else pointed out quite rightly there wasn't even enough salt on some dishes (but the tarka daal and tandoori chicken were over salty). My wife's tandoori chicken had no trace of ginger or corriander on it and my Methi chicken had zero fenugreek. Bland beyond belief.

We’ve ordered take away twice before and the food was acceptable, but not great. I’d never dream of eating in as it’s void of any character let alone charm. We only returned as our favourite curry house didn’t appear to be open and we wanted curry. The gentleman serving us appears to be lovely but his English is lacking and this makes a task of ordering but it was the food this time round, bland, it wasn’t even seasoned with enough salt let alone spices. My wife’s lamb was mostly fat. We won’t be returning and giving them out money. If your looking a unauthentic curry with no depth of flavour in an equally unauthentic setting with no character or redeeming qualities, this will be right up your street!

We have been to the Leeja a number of times over the years and it has generally been unremarkable. However, following the latest reopening, the quality of the food is so much better. The decor is nice and the staff provide a pleasant and efficient service. Of course, the most important aspect for a restaurant is its food and the improvement is marked. The quality is now excellent. It’s worthwhile pointing out in advance that the restaurant no longer serves alcoholic drinks - it is a ‘bring your own’ establishment. Soft drinks can be purchased. Overall, great value.

We purchased 2 pints of Coca Cola with ice which were poured out of a large bottle so they were flat. When we got the bill we found that we were charged £3.50 EACH for these. So we paid £7.00 for Coke out of one big bottle that would have cost just over £1 in the supermarket. When we are paying so much for a Coke we don't understand why they can't use cans or small bottles which would be a better drink. The Cokes were for our grandson while we had a bottle of wine so it wasn't as though we were trying to penny pinch and just have water with our meal. Restaurants should avoid using the large bottles of Coke because the problem is the drink is usually flat as often they are left from one day to the next having been opened.

Having eaten here a couple of times on weekdays and found the food delicious, I decided to bring a friend on a Saturday evening. The restaurant was about half full, with a large table of about 14 seated shortly after we arrived. The food was nothing like what I had tasted during my previous two visits (in the last couple of months). The chicken in my curry was pre sliced, dry and tasteless. The sauce, was bland, lacked any kind of flavour and had no taste of the promised fenugreek. The onion bhaji were also of poor quality and tasted like they had been not been freshly cooked. I did not want to make a fuss in front of my friend and so I went up to the desk to pay the bill. I politey explained my disappointment and was met with a shrug and promise to, 'mention it to the chef'. I suggested that this didn't help me this evening with my bill of £57, but I was again met with an attitude of disinterest. I will not be going back and suggest they stop carving radish to garnish their dishes and concentrate on making them taste like something worth paying for.

The quality of the food was brilliant but we were very disappointed with the service. Mine and my husband's plates were cleared from the table whilst our daughter was still eating. The waiter then came back to the table on two occasions to ask if my daughter had finished. In the end we just said she was and they took her plate while she was still eating her naan bread. Although not acceptable, this behaviour could have been excusable if the restaurant had been busy. However, at 6ish on a Sunday evening it was the exact opposite of busy and the actions of the waiter were rude and rushed us to finish our food and get out.

To be super nit picky though, i was told that the bottled cider could have been colder - no such problem with the Kingfisher - and why if you order a Balti the plain Nan can't be upgraded without having to buy a second Nan. Apart from that it would have been 5 stars.

So booked this place as i've been past a couple of time and wanted to give it a try. Ordered a tikka platter and prawn puri for starters which was fairly standard, nothing wow but not horrible either, however seemed to take quite a while to arrive. While waiting one of the waiters accidently smashed a glass but didn't have any haste at all to clear the broken shards from the floor, infact he had a smug grin accross his face and all the waiters carried on as normal, diners were having to step over the glass some of which were wearing high heels and long dresses so a major health and safety hazard. Me and my friend were only just speaking about about the way they managed that incident and the same waiter spilled drinks all over himself and the floor while on his way to serve them at a table, yet again there was no kind of haste in him to sort it out, instead stepped over the spillage to make another drink, finally the mop was in action but not a single 'warning wet floor' sign in sight! The mains arrived, lamb karahi and chicken biryani which was okay, and i'd ordered two rounds of J20 and my friend had ordered a ginger ale. We were done eating pretty quickly because the food wasn't really to our taste. We asked for the bill and were just quering about the way the drinks had been itemised, which was explained and we were told we had been given a discount which was nice but the words used were "it's normally such and such price but I gave you a discount so stop moaning or i'll charge you more" definitely not the way to speak to your customers.Won't be visiting again and will not reccommend others to visit either.

We have been using the Leeja since it opened years ago. Whether as a couple, family or group of friends we have never been let down. The menu is varied and interesting with some distinctive Leeja flavours. The staff are very friendly and they have a good wine list. My most frequent visit was a family birthday affair and we chose The Leeja because we knew we wouldn't be disappointed.

We have eaten here regularly and it never fails to disappoint. The staff are extremely friendly and welcoming and the service is always efficient yet relaxed. The menu offers a great choice of Indian food and we particularly enjoy their Chicken shashlik starter and the Lamb sylheti or the tikka masala for main. The restaurant has a pleasant location overlooking Oadby village and there is plenty of parking just behind. The restaurant also offers excellent promotions on certain evenings. We always have an excellent curry and we're looking forward to returning soon!

We have visited this restaurant numerous times. Always an excellent curry and Tuesdays and Thursdays have an excellent two mains for the price of one deal.

Used these many times before and the food is usually pretty good, we ordered a takeaway tonight and the delivery was very fast, but the killer for me was I asked the delivery driver to shut my front "gate" now he opened it to come in and left it open when he left even though I had just given him a "tip" and asked him nicely to close the gate on your way out. How ignorant and disrespectful is that! take my friendly tip and not care a jot about my request, well the menu is in the bin, my good friends who use this establishment are disgusted and we both will not use this service/restaurant again, we have eaten here endless times but never again.

We went on a Sunday evening. The service was excellent and the food delicious. I have been to many places to eat curry in Leicester, but this is now one of my favourites.
