Went again last week , great food , great service, kids love it , dad loves it , like the praying facility. spicy chilli handi lamb and lamb chops are great

It was such a great experience, just need to change the quantity of food it should be in big dishes.

I had a fantastic experience at this Pakistani-Indian restaurant! The food was absolutely amazing—full of authentic flavors and perfectly cooked. The staff was very friendly and attentive, making the whole dining experience even better. Great value for money as well. I 100% recommend this place to anyone looking for delicious South Asian cuisine!

Best food all over leicester !! Nihari was like "Delhi 6" so soft !! Budget food !!

Staff wasn’t very welcoming. There was an angry face on young lady who took the order. 10 mins after taking the order she came to us and said we have to take starters and main course together because we are closing at 11. Even though it was 22.20 yet.

Hy!!! We had a wedding ceremony in Tipu Sultan Leicester on last Sunday!. It was a Nikkah ceremony and we were confused to chose the venue. So we made a bold decision and we selected non-native restaurant. As we are arabs so we were un-awared of things. There was guy whose name Gohar. Smart guy. He served us very professionally. He pushed him to do many things at a same time. But he kept his calm . He was very gentle. And managed everything in a good way. He was being assisted by a girl . They both done a good job. But Gohar was very nice and gentle!! See you again Gohar

Very good food. Came as a quick stop after passing through the city and stopped for a cheeky curry. The lamb karahi was very tender and flavoursome . The butter chicken was nice but like most restaurants, a little too much tomato and not enough cream and butter! The tandoor roti was lovely and soft, a great little hint of smokiness from the charr. Pilau rice soft, fluffy and pillowy well seasoned rice. Service was a little lacking at times and there were some long delays where drinks were forgotten. However, that's being said. The portions and price are great and our waitress was very helpful when present Would recommend to anyone passing by and will be happy to return on my next passing through.

Food is definitely lovely in here. But the service which we received was really ridiculous!!!! There was a waitress with glasses and usually in a ponytail Preksha I guess her name is, Even after calling out a number of times, she will ignore and make really weird faces to the customers and is really very rude. Reluctant to even serve the customers properly. It is really bad for your restaurant to have such staff and would you would be loosing the customers!!!!!!

got a fine of £60 for parking while eating at restaurant, parking attendance or the receptionist didn't even mention about the new parking restrictions. not happy at all.

Better than Birmingham Tipu Sultan

Spent £120 on food bills. Had stomach ache all day. Service wasn't good..now £60 parking fine to pay. Rang the restaurant and they need proof..what a joke!!

This was my first visit at Tipu Sultan in Leicester. My starter wasn’t the best. Lamb Chops were good and it had flavours and taste to it. Grill Veg was not worth the price neither those vegetables used worse the grill Veg dish. Tipu Sultan uses high spice level, let them know if you want dishes low or medium spice level. Chilli Mogo, it has less mogo and more sliced onion but it had some taste. Chilli Paneer: The paneer dish was slightly better, but it could use more flavor. It would also benefit from being a bit crispier on the outside while remaining soft on the inside, with a finishing touch of spring onion garnish. Papari Chaat: Yogurt and Pomegranate did the best job. It was good, try once if you haven’t yet or it’s your first visit. You like sweet and sour you will love it. Paneer Makhani: I knew it comes cream ok too, and expected a bit sweet but not too much. It was over sweet. No further comments. Note: Tipu’s major dishes are prepared with only 2 people in mind, if you are in a group consider ordering more. French fries 🍟: Crispy and freshly fried. It was good. Green Tandoori Chicken: Well cooked, good flavours only 3 pieces per portion. It should come with green or red sauce for chicken but it comes with Mix Salad 🥗 King prawn Dish also had 4-5 piece of prawns over £15 but it had good taste. Overpriced for size you will receive. Chicken Handi: Best Dish, can serve 2-3 people and best to try with the Naan bread. Full of flavour, chicken was also well cooked. Everyone liked it. You must try this dish. Finally, Chicken Biryani (Off the bone) - it were missing Sultan’a flavour. It was plain but matching Tipu’s restaurant match. I have eaten in Birmingham few times, taste over there and on in Leicester. Huge difference.

Went with my friends 2 weeks ago, today I received a parking fine of £60 for parking on their car park! What a joke.

Lovely evening meal and desert, service is always good, served today by Sristi and Subhadra who were very lovely, courteous and all round superb, food was nice, kids had a good time, put some heating in the loo's its like going from madras to antartica.

Had arranged for a pre booked table on the 18th January 2025. I’m a very regular customer here, must spend at least £150 per week here. As soon as arrived we were seated to our table, once the rest of our guests arrived, the restaurant suffered an all out power cut. Fair enough, these things happen. But as the chefs were still using the tandoor and grill, and no extractor fans were working, the entire inside became an indoor bbq. The carbon monoxide levels were bad, couldn’t breathe. Guest had asthma and we had to leave. We asked for some water but after 15 minutes nothing, it’s a shame I had to drop this review.

Been here twice and venue is beautiful. I loved the falooda but would have been nice if they had kulfi falooda on the menu too. Food choices were great however the Papri chaat was not as great as I'd hoped. I found it quite bland. And the lamb curry and haryali murgi both were over salted. My husband also thought the same so it wasn't just to my taste. So.it was a bit i of a disappointment.

I have been to the Birmingham branch and this time visited the Leicester branch. Great place and great service, too. Highly recommend. Not great picture, but the food was great.

I was in tipu sultan on boxing day for dinner I parked my car parking area. Today they send me 60 pounds parking ticket i am unhappy about this service. I strongly recommend if anybody go there carefully parking your car . He ruptured your pocket. I pay this ticket but I will never go there again.

Authentic flavours mixed with pleasing atmosphere was this place. The food was true to its name and we loved everything we ordered. It was delicious and quite swift in getting to us as well. However, the service could have been a bit more friendly the lady servers were very attentive and polite but one of the male server was very rude in demeanour and it was easy to witness his attitude in serving us. Anyways if you would like to eat some hearty Indian food this is a must try place.

Planned to meet my friends in Leicester and selected this restaurant. The ambiance and service were nice but the food was a complete let down. No dish including mutton or chicken had the authentic aroma and taste. Would never recommend if you are a desi food lover. After-all we all go to such places for the best food.

From the moment I arrived, I was warmly welcomed and promptly guided to my table. The staff presented the menu courteously and allowed ample time for me to make my selections without feeling rushed. Preksha, an attentive and highly professional stewardess, stood out for her exceptional service. She patiently listened to our preferences, offered excellent starter recommendations, and ensured that the service was seamless throughout the meal. The team’s attention to cleanliness was notable, as they maintained a tidy environment even during our meal. I find lamb chops to be the best, and the Karahi Gosht was also quite good. The restaurant's one of my favourites in the UK.

Food good. But, after ordering and collecting takeaway food, was fined £100 for overstaying in car park by 4 minutes having failed to notice and comply with parking regulations which had only just been introduced. Dreadful way to treat customers. Will not return and suggest other customers do not bother either.

Absolutely disgusting treatment of loyal Long standing customers. We went to pick up takeaway food- the staff did not inform us of the new car park registration system and we were fined £100 . This just shows how little they value and respect their customers. When we wrote to the owner/ manager they didn’t even have the decency to reply! Please avoid this restaurant- it’s a huge scam!

Location was quite nice, food was okay. I found the appetizers were really good, I found the biryani a miss and the beef curry a bit tough to chew. Otherwise plenty of options on the menu.

tipu sultan never disappoints me . the peshwari gosht , paya, nihari , magaz are so amazing cooked to perfection and optimum spicy. highly recommended for pakistani cuisine lovers

Food was delicious as always. the lamb chops so soft and tender. Both curries the lamb and tiger prawn cooked so well. Could not fault it, on a Friday night to get that level of consistency with food is a true credit to the cooking. This will now become our place to always order authentic Indian food from.

Lovely place the food and ambience was spot on. Our experience was ruined by the manager. We travelled from really far and wanted to have a good experience. We ordered £100 worth of food altogether but the mutton karahi was very spicy even though we ordered medium. We told the waiter that it's really spicy despite us ordering medium and we couldn't eat it. Then the manager came with his explanation and made the simple situation worse. Lol the guy started by saying I am going to go and taste it and decide whether it's hot or medium. Then he said I'm not stupid, to which I replied saying mate no one said you are. Let's be civilised. He mentioned he had 14 years of hospitality experience which is good but if your customer services skills are this bad then I think you need to review your experience. He later came and apologised for his behaviour but our experience was already ruined. Now the positives everything but the above. Went for a private party food was amazing, service was fast, lovely decor. The only thing that let it down was hygiene. There was a hair in my butter chicken & the bowls they gave dessert in were dirty. At first I thought it was a stain but i could scrap it off with my knife, things like this really put me off, other then that really good.

Definitely missing somethings. Only 3 pieces of Salmon no skewers stick. But clearly the pieces were on a skewer stick ( had holes in each piece). The box looked half empty which alerted me a piece of Salmon was missing. Only salad w /it no rice.

16th November 2024 my mother in laws birthday so we travelled up to spend time with her.We decided to try Tipu Sultian as the menu looked great. Biggest mistake we have made in a long time. When it was delivered food was warm.i had the buttered chicken which is my absolute favourite.But from the 1st mouth full I felt something was not right. It was more like a curry...extremely hot not the way a buttered chicken is ment to be. Then boom with in an hour I was vomiting so violently and it lasted all night. I take it that they put so much hot spice in the food to hide the rancid chicken in there food.As for their samosas I think they need to go back to school and learn how to make one.

The food was really good and delicious. I ordered the chicken Hyderabadi Handi. The service was absolutely horrible. The lady kept forgetting to bring stuff to our table, when asked to bring something, they would provide us with the wrong amount. The food was delayed quite a lot and we had to repeatedly ask them when the food is coming. I’m shocked as I usually don’t get bad experience here but this time was not good.

I really enjoy going to Tipu. There's parking, the restaurant has plenty of seats and the food is really nice. A bit too spicy for me but they were kind enough to give plain yoghurt! Very pretty too.

Been here a few times before so had an idea of what to order. The establishment is still a beautiful venue to dine in but taste of food has been compromised unfortunately. Not sure if they're trying to save money or the chefs were off but our curries weren't much better than what I've had at home. Mango lassi and desserts were amazing, 10/10 for the mango lassi.

Visited this resturant for a birthday celebration with a party of 13 people. The initial service was slow with no one coming to ask for drinks etc until prompted but the food came out quite quickly. The non veg dishes were all delicious and the veg dishes were cooked to a good standard. Had to ask several times for the waiters to clear the table from used dishes etc before bringing out our fancy birthday cake. That part was frustrating but overall we had a nice time and might visit again for the non veg good variety

Delicious food, ambience was great and hospitality and service is superb. Must try and a go to restaurant for the people who love Indian food.

Overall we were really happy with the food and delivery service, but it would be helpful if you could give an indication of how late the delivery will be in the text message notification that is sent.

Love this restaurant, excellent food especially their classics - butter chicken and chicken tikka masala. The ambience is very good, soft Bollywood music played in the background. Very good appetizers as well, I’d recommend the samosa chaat and chili paneer. Competent service always and good seating.

I always tend to end up doing occasional parties at tipu Sultan , it's well decorated and the food is amazing.

We were delighted to dine in Tipu Sultan at Oadby (Leicester). The gourmet was delicious and served gracefully by Samia (the waitress). The chef Talib Hussain had done a great job by preparing the dishes to our tastes. A most enjoyable experience at a restaurant worthy of its reputation and name. Nice restaurant and food is decent, but be warned it appears only “selected” members are allowed to park in the car park even though there are spaces you will be told by the obnoxious car park attendant to park elsewhere?l!!

We had a lovely time dining at Tipusultan. The food was absolutely delicious, with each dish bursting with flavor and perfectly cooked. From appetizers to desserts, every bite was a treat. What truly stood out, though, was the exceptional service we received from Samiya. She was incredibly helpful and attentive throughout our meal, making sure we had everything we needed and going out of her way to ensure our experience was perfect. Her warm and friendly demeanor made us feel welcome and well cared for. Overall, it was a fantastic dining experience, and we will definitely be returning. Thank you to Samiya and the rest of the staff for making our visit so enjoyable!

We visited today as a family of 12 with 2 young children’s upon arriving we asked for a menu and had to wait 10 minutes for it to get to us. The retseraunt was almost empty with several waiters stood around the till area in huddles. We ordered starters and our mains - first came the starters, which came out lukewarm and then came the real tragedy of the evening TWO HOURS AFTER THIS and seeing several tables come, eat and leave- no signs of our mains. We asked a waiter several times who just said “il check” but never did. Upon my husband being stern and explaining it’s been two hours they then reluctantly brought out- STONE COLD curry’s- and I mean COLD the oil on the top had a film over it! It had been sat for that long, we told the waiter who said- ok. And continued putting the cold food onto the table! This is now 2.5hrs from your arrival 12 of us. We called the manager who blamed the man who makes the naans (sir we didn’t even get to the naans so don’t try that) and did very little to fix the issue- simply said to wait and he will reheat the frozen curry’s!!! Needless to say we did not wait and left. 0 STARS IF IT WAS POSSIBLE THIS PLACE IS A CATASTROPHE!!! AVOID AVOID AVOID

Dishes that were not marked as spicy on the menu were very spicy. It's disappointing when you order butter chicken for the kids, and they can't eat it. Quality of food is good, the portions were normal...

Delicious food, big portions, well worth the money. Delivery was earlier than expected.

Went twice there to have dinner. Staters served alongwith main course, even asked to deliver early before main course. Planning to have dinner after 9pm is not the right choice. No offering of normal water even. Paneer Tikka, Grill Veg is not even worth trying it, though Dal Makhni and Paneer with Mushroom was good.

Amazing place to dine out in, unfortunately the food didn't match the ambience and place. Value was good but lacking in quality. Wauw factor of the place was missing in the food.

Came here as a group of 12. I have an allergy to chilli which I made clear and had over a five minute discussion about. They then bought over complementary poppadoms just for me and the three people sat next to me whilst everyone else had to pay. My mint yoghurt was the only one that had chilli in and when my curry was bought out it contained chilli (which I was told it wouldn't). Told them about it and they said there's nothing we can do. Because of this and only my mint yoghurt having chilli in it I think they did it on purpose to set of my allergies. If you have allergies avoid this place not only will they ignore it but they added that ingredient into my food unnecessarily.

We had gohar as our server he was new to the job but did absolutely amazing!! Great service and extremely welcoming and he’s really the best, hope to see him again ! Thank you Gohar 😊

****not recommend for wedding reception *** They will charge you £30+ per person for A slow and 3rd class service . They will give you under quality food (too many onions a tomatoes lurking around in curry ) They will not give you refills . If an item finishes they will blame the guests that they have over eaten or drank the full cup of tea- instead of half or quarter . 3/10 service . Just a waste of time . Duty manager was rude , arrogant as if he is doing us a favour . Better options available .
