Saab's Grill in Oadby and Wigston

Food was nice but small portions. Service was average. Wait times were unacceptable and staff unapologetic for that. We won't be returning

Average food , small portions, pleasant initial waitress , rude and unapologetic waitress/owner who addressed the unacceptable wait times. Our experience echoes that in previous reviews about rude service and long wait times in not a hugely busy restaurant. We won't be returning.

The food was delicious, and the pilli pilli chips were just perfect. The Pricing is reasonable; the garlic rice was the best I have ever had, and I loved the masala sauce. The beef was just ideally cooked.

The starters where below average portion of paneer was very small. we then waited a long while so had to summon the waitress who didn’t clear the table, so we sat after starters looking at our dirty plates. We then ordered our mains; the mains took at least 45 minutes to come, and the place was quiet. after eating the mains, it was bland, and the sauces used looked to be used in all the veggie dishes! I had the chicken biryani which was bland and flavourless with dry chicken. The paneer was watery and sweet with no flavour at all. After we finished, we could not wait to leave to be honest and even when we left after paying a bill of £76 which I felt robbed by the waitress didn’t even come over and thank us and say goodbye. Don’t bother visit this restaurant, there are much better places save your money!

Great food! Mix Sizzler was fresh, good quality & full of flavour! Lamb curry was tender & spiced well! The owner is fantastic & staff are friendly & attentive! Highly recommend!

The food is of top quality and at the right price, service is always good, nothing is too much trouble. The atmosphere is to our taste nice and relaxed, so we can sit and talk. When it's busy the atmosphere changes slightly - so good to hear people talking and laughing rather than looking down into a mobile phone. Don't hesitate, book a table and enjoy a very relaxing meal, we have tried most of the main courses on the menu and all are equally good as each other if one were to be picked as a favourite then Chicken Tikka Karahi is my go to main course the chapati, naan, rice etc.....just choose your favourite and you are on to a winner of a dinner.

The food was very delicious, fhe prices were very fair, and the portions were relatively large. Our family of 3, ate for around 53£, afterwhich we were very full.

Meal was nice but waited 1.5 hours and only 6 in the restaurant.Also selling a glass of rose wine which was only 5% alcohol,Eden falls strawberry and lime £3-75 bottle and there serving it at £3-75 a glass.disgraceful has normal rose is 13%.Used to love it in there but there priorities are takeaways.won’t be visiting again has there ripping the public off.

Fabulous food last night and great service from 2 young waitresses and I presume the owner. We left feeling very satisfied and the prices are very reasonable. Highly recommend a prawn dish, my korma was packed full of prawns and they had so much flavour. Definitely get a naan too, they were soft and delicious.

Saabs has excellent reviews so I decided to get my sister and her husband a meal voucher for Christmas. They live in Wigston about a mile from Saabs, I am in Cheltenham. How to get the voucher delivered? The Manager solved this instantly - he would deliver the voucher personally to their door, check their names and wish them Happy Christmas. 12/10 for service thank you. Next time I visit Wigston I know where I am dining out - Saabs.

All we wanted was a nice Indian meal..... We went in to a empty restaurant and the Manager / Owner didn't seem to want to give us a table he said they were busy.....we were there for 1 hour and only 2 other tables came in...... Food was OK Waitress Emily was the best thing in there.... Such a shame so we will not recommend or be back. Will give our money to someone who wants it....

I have eaten in and had takeaways from Saabs Grill many many times. The service is great and the food is amazing would highly recommend to anyone who enjoys a curry I even travel from Broughton Astley to Wigston for a takeaway

First time coming here, and I couldn’t fault the place, staff and service was great and the food was so tasty. I’m a garlic fan and the garlic rice and the garlic Naan is absolutely amazing. Definitely recommend dining in.

Booked a table for 2, for 8pm, we actually left at 10pm after taking 90 minutes to receive our dinner, the restaurant wasn't that busy, food was OK, but we won't be visiting or recommending saabs grill, ridiculous amount of time to receive your food

Lovely piping hot food. Cannot fault this restaurant, it’s the third time I have had a take away and each time they have been great.

A spare of the moment visit with an school friend, we popped in originally for a take out but seeing they had enough room to cater, we dined in. The service was excellent, the prices were reasonable and most importantly the food was delicious!

Beautiful food, lovely staff unsure as to what the below review is talking about with the owner as I've met him multiple times and he is lovely!! Butter chicken and salt and chilli chips is my absolute favourite! We've used the function room before for my birthday and had an amazing time and felt truly looked after by the staff at Saabs Grill. Infact I think I might just place an order for my Friday night takeaway 🤣😋

The staff at Saab’s are brilliant, the food is to die for, nothing is too much trouble. Unfortunately we can only do takeaway as my wife’s guide dog has retired, but when he was a working dog, we were always made very welcome.

Wow still after all these years still does not disappoint. Always said this is one of the best Indian restaurants i have been too, the favour in each dish is what sets it apart. Also the fact as there is so many options, not just the same old menu that every curry house has. Haven’t been for a while but honestly cannot wait to go again. I am always recommending it to friends and family. Always a lovely touch when the owner greets you with a massive smile and remembers you from previous visits. Already planning my next trip to Leicester just so i can go again. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Visited Saabs grill with my family on a Saturday night. First and foremast, it has to be said that the service and staff in this restaurant are the absolute worst - I honestly have never seen anything like it and couldn’t believe what I was hearing. Firstly, there were 6 of us and we were given a table in the direct sunlight so we couldn’t see our menus or see each other. One of my cousins experiences severe migraines and sitting in the sunlight could aggrevate this. Appreciate that the staff can’t change the lighting and the situation but when we complained, we were told by the main waitress “sorry nothing we can do” and “feel free to leave”. She also then said “feel free to pay for your drinks and leave”. There were no apologies or any attempt to help us - just sheer rudeness. After this, we waited 25 mins for a waitress to come over and take our order. We ordered two plain rices (which was repeated and confirmed by another waitress). When the rice came out, it was vegetable rice which contains nuts. We told them we ordered plain rice ans we’re effectively told that we’re lying. The lady said “you said plain rice, that’s why I repeated your order”. Disgusting - we don’t eat the vegetable rice as it has nuts and one of the girls is allergic - again no apology. The worst part of this horrific evening was dealing with the waiter / owner - not sure who he was. I was talking to my cousin quietly about the service and how bad he’s been and be overheard. Firstly he shouldn’t be over hearing our conversations as it was private. He then came over and said “there’s the door If you don’t like the service” and “were busy enough without you so feel free to go”. Never in my life have I ever been spoken to by anyone like this. I thought this was bang out to order. We are paying customers (£80 bill) and to be spoken to in this manner before our food comes out was frankly disgusting. We’re business owners ourself and we’ve never spoken to any customer like that no matter how in the wrong they are. Food was slow, ordered salad and it didn’t come out, emptt bottles were left for ages even when we asked for them to be cleared. I could go on. Food was bland, service was slow, staff were horrible, I could go on. Save yourself some money but more importantly tkme and don’t visit this restaurant. They do not care about their customers.

Ordered a take away-lamb Karahi chicken bhuna tandoori roti and Jeera rice. Portion size was good but the lamb meat was off, it was bad smell. Chicken bhuna was not made in bhuna sauce but a normal gravy which was bland. First time used them but a very bad experience. I wished I would have tasted before they were closed or I would have taken back.,The time we had our meal they were closed.

Ordered takeaway and baffled how they have such a high rating. Roti was inedible, keema naan was a cheap doner in a premade bread, chicken in the mixed grill was ancient and went in the bin. Pilli pilli chips looked like they had been dug straight from the ground and didn't taste much better. Poppadoms were the best bit which says a lot about a place but even the chutneys were the lowest quality. Curry was OK, 3star at best but the rest let it down. Will never order from here again.

Good service, the food came out all together as we requested, food was good would highly recommend. Only problem is parking is not great ended up driving around for 15 minutes looking for somewhere to park.

Ordered a take away pilau rice garlic chilli chicken plenty of chicken nice kick too it but unfortunately the amount of water circling my plate was unreal had to drain plate of but meal became a soggy mess , couldn’t fault the naan bread poppadoms and condiments ,excess water either came from the rice or the curry itself certainly put me off from maybe ordering again could be a genuine mistake not sure so I’ll give miss

Have ordered a few times from here during lockdown. The food is always nice, especially the mixed grill. Although I do prefer the fresh naans when you dine in, so am looking forward to my next visit. I like the relaxed atmosphere

Clean,friendly staff and quite tasty food

Food was ordered for a take away. Was waiting when we got there so a positive. Food was OK but was very underspiced for the strength of curry ordered. Food was tasty though. However, the reason this is a 3 star is due to the big dirty hair found in my chicken madras. I could not finish the meal as was disgusted. What a shame

Ordered veg jalfrezi and It was horrid. The curry was dirty green colour and tasted like coriander chutney put in boiled veg....not nice. Paneer and mogo sizzler was tasteless too. Will not be going there again.

Absolutely loved the food here. It's been a pain trying to find a decent Indian restaurant in Leicester that doesn't serve halal food. Fortunately after doing some research I stumbled across this gem. Food was amazing as was the service provided. I booked a table for 2 on a Saturday evening but I probably could have just walked in. Wasn't to busy which amazes me as the butter chicken and chilli Paneer was easily some of the best we've ever had. Would 100% recommend this if you're looking for a delicious non halal experience!

My second visit to Saab's in the last couple of months. Once again the food was perfect - tender lamb, tasty chicken and flavours to die for.

very dirty place had dinner last night. to start cutlery was dirty and when we complained they didn't like it. ordered paneer tikka which was sweet with coconut powder and had a stappler pin or some metal in it when complained the guy said its very common stapplers are every where and may be metal from the washing brush which is normal. not a safe place to eat with family and children. Wife had couple of vomits straight after. Staff could be more helpful on a quite day as only we were there in the restaurent.

We had a dinner there tonight and had a metal pin in the food and wife had a vomit straight after and the owner said its normal it can be from the stapler or wire not accepted.

Has a private function room, was excellent food and drink. Provided a buffet and really looked after us. Food kept on coming and coming. Everything was clean plates, glasses, floor, bar, toilets etc.... Look forward to the next family do we have.

Super friendly service and the owner is great if you need to make adjustments to your order.

Really great food all around, but the star of the show was the chili garlic paneer. Absolutely incredible. You could probably put that chili garlic sauce on an old shoe and enjoy it. An absolute must to try.

Placed order at 5.30 to be advised (via Just Eat ) that delivery would be 6.20 ish - food arrived on time however x 2 starters ordered were barely warm ( not a good start ) called restaurant and advised that food has just been cooked as only opened at 5,30 and should not be warm should be hot - baring in mind if food was cooked at 5.30 my delivery was made at 6,20 and only 0.3 miles away.Lady spoke to had bad restaurant service , no apology given , will not be using them again , Onion bhaji looked like it had been cooked , reheated several times to say the least.

We were greatly impressed with Saab's Grill; the staff were very helpful and friendly. As this was our first visit to an Indian restaurant, we were fully informed of the ingredients in each dish as one of our party has food in tolerances. We were also told how the food was prepared and cooked. We had a pleasant experience here and we would highly recommend this restaurant

Food was a disgrace, Where do I start, Fish pakora over cooked Prawns served straight out the freezer probably defrosted under hot water and served, ( very tough and rubbery) Then when they ask the generic question is everything ok with your food, and I raised my compliant he said so you not eating it , I replied sorry no!! His response was your are not welcome here get out, Hahaha the man is a joke, please do not eat here you and your family and friends will become ill, If you need any proof please look at his finger nails

After reading reviews we chose Saabs to go to for my birthday meal, we were not disappointed. The welcome and atmosphere was very friendly and relaxed, the food was very good, especially the sizzler starter. Highly recommended and a return is on the cards
