Excellent place for a mid afternoon stop after exploring Liverpool. Only 1 vegan cake option though!

Too busy,hectic at the reception desk. Had to wait even though booked in advance. Service slow, food just about warm. Sent it back so the person I was with had finished eating by the time I got my food. Didn't think bread was sourdough as stated on menu. It tasted like fried bread but the waiter said it was not.

All four of us had the scrambled eggs on toast. It was supposed to be three eggs but two of the portions were much smaller than the other two and they brought my friend a steak knife to cut her sourdough toast because she saw her struggling to cut it with an ordinary knife. She gave up on the end and left it. Eggs were nice though

A busy Sunday lunchtime, a warm welcome for one, super roast dinner although I'd have enjoyed the beef more had it have been sliced more thinly (personal preference). Lovely G&T. Staff were lovely and helpful. Would always return on my next visit!

This place has such a fun chilled vibe which was great, and Bold Street is a great location! I had ordered the Huevos Rotos, it was a generous portion, nothing exceptional, but it was a good dish. My Chai Latte was weak in strength sadly, although it was presented well. The service was lovely and I would return and try out some of their other dishes, if I am ever back in Liverpool!

Booked in here for first date day meal following the birth of our son, having done the same after our daughter was born a few years back. Apart from the wait to be seated when there were a large number of empty tables ready to be used the service was good. Once seated drinks and food orders taken quickly. Coffees arrived very quickly and food shortly after. Neither disappoint and make up for the wait at the start. One salt and pepper chicken burger and one steak baguette went down a treat. Would recommend. Repeat customer and will be returning again!

Ordered scrambled egg on toast, the egg was really greasy and soggy tasted awful the toast wasps so ate a bit but just paid and left

Visited this great restaurant today, the food was excellent, Chicken Katsu burger with fries and a cup of good coffee. My wife had the sweet potato and Feta salad, very nice. The staff were very helpful, as my granddaughter has an intolerance to certain foods. We were not rushed even though the place was busy { which is a good sign }. This restaurant deserves a mention as it offers value for money and has the needs of its customers at the heart of the business. We are planning another visit very soon. Well done to all the staff including those in back of house.

Large family group had Sunday dinner - food was excellent - service excellent. I’m a fussy foodie trust me this is spot on.

Great service and lovely food but it was incredibly loud in there. It was difficult to hear what our group were saying. We didn't know before we went that it was Spotify Friday (which we all agreed should have been called SpotiFriday). The music was great but just too loud. Personal opinion though...

Good service, disappointing breakfast. Not much flavour to the English Breakfast.

Tea and coffee was really nice, service was good but the food was subpar to say the least. Last time I came was a few months ago and I don’t remember the food being this disappointing. My girlfriend got the Lebanese stew and it tasted quite bland. The kid’s chicken burger was tough and dry, and could not be finished. Any kids meal should be easy to eat but this really was not the case. We sent this back and weren’t charged for it, a complimentary dessert was given to us which was a good move from the serving staff. My own burger, the vegan burger, was genuinely smaller than the kids burger had 1 slice of tomato on it, 1 leaf of lettuce, no crispy onions as stated in the menu, and was dry as well. I would have got a better vegan burger for half the price at McDonald’s.

Delicious roast dinners! Kaddy was so helpful and made our experience memorable. I highly recommend this restaurant to everyone

English breakfast and pancakes, well served and simply delicious. The vegetarian options are as scrumptious as the other ones. Even though it is better to book in advance, it is absolutely worth queueing. Lovely staff, helpful and smiley. Many thanks!

Ordered the salt and pepper buttermilk chicken starter as lunch. Absolutely gorgeous and the right portion. Love it here so relaxed.

Can't comment about the food as went in today with my young baby, given a nice seat by the window but forgotten about by the team. When flagged waiter down and asked for flat white, forgotten about again so walked out. 30 minutes without any service. This is the second time I have been forgotten about here, starting to get a complex.

Great selection of teas. Lovely place to meet for a coffee and cake. Can sometimes take a while to get served but always worth a trip

Service was terrible we waited nearly half an hour for a coffee after waiting 20 mins to even be served. Waitress was frustrated when we asked to be served. The drink came with marshmallows on a stick that left splinters in my mouth. Drink was nice but not worth the rude staff and time waisted waiting.

Good British restaurant especially for brunch. It’s on the man strip so it can get very crowded with wait times but well worth it. Don’t expect fast service but that adds to the allure. My first time trying beans on toast/full English. It was great.

Absolute shite. Sent back food 2 times, it was missing items and then was freezing cold. Seriously understaffed. Lady who was working was literally running around trying to keep up. Really disappointed and would advise you go somewhere else if you want a service that doesn’t leave you highly disappointed at the end.

Great porridge, lovely fresh tea

Been a while since I have been but it's seems to have lost its cozyness, it's arty flare. Couldn't see the sandwich and soup which was a staple. Hate the marble tables and chairs. Felt like a school diner. Had the burger.... If you fancy a burger go to honest burger across the road.

Me and my family came here for Sunday breakfast quite early whilst it was snowing in town. Had a nice little buzz about the place even. The service was great, and the food even better, 1st time eating here surprisingly, but certainly won't be the last

Normally have had a nice experience Leaf but today seemed to have been a bit of exception which is such a shame. Took just myself in for some lunch and it was just okay, normally the standard is a lot better, I ordered the eggs Florentine and the Hollandaise sauce wasn't the best and I had one slightly overdone poached egg. I never mentioned this as I was too hungry. Couldn't fault the speed of which it came out though. But my main bug bare was the service, apart from one waitress who knocked my cappuccino off the bill after it took a while for me to receive it. But numerous times I tried to get the attention of the other staff members to pay the bill, the last time I finally caught the attention of a waitress to get the bill but still never received it until I then had to go bar and pay it myself. It wasn't particularly busy either, just thought the staff, bar the one who greeted me at the entrance and to my table, could've been more attentive and friendly for that matter. Overall, just felt the experience was not up to par as normal and thought it was best highlighting it in this review. Don't think I'll come back for a while to this particular Leaf as it's marred my experience of it sadly.

Bland food, poor service so sadly rated as mediocre at best....

Impeccable selection of teas, prompt service & very gorgeous aesthetic. Smoked salmon with scrambled eggs did not disappoint. Will definitely return on my next Liverpool trip!

Went for Xmas lunch with colleagues. Service was interminably slow and borderline unfriendly. Supervisor was very apologetic at the end, but this could not save the disappointing day.

Had my Christmas dinner here with work colleagues. Food was excellent, atmosphere was brilliant with some live music throughout the night. Waiter staff were very friendly and helpful, would definitely return.

A lovely gem of gastro bar / restaurant, Had a Christmas lunch here as was excellent, Food was cooked very well with some lovely staff as 10 out of 10. Overall excellent all round.

We visited Leaf last night and I just wanted to recommend this place, we had our work Christmas party there last night and the staff were absolutely fabulous, they were really friendly and made our whole experience extremely pleasurable. I must also mention that the food was delicious and really tasty. A great dining experience, well done and a massive thank you.

A fantastic space with a little contemporary feel to it. The staff are fantastic, courteous and polite. I had a pot of tea with the handcrafted sausage roll with the ginger tomato sauce. I can only say that it is amazing. So big and flavourful and filling. I could live here. It's all great.

Really gone down hill... Greeted by clearly stressed staff this evening, only two working the full restaurant. Surrounding tables piled with dirty crockery for most of the time we were there. Large squid was very over cooked and rubbery, rice salad dry and mostly raw onion. Falafel flatbread was also too dry. Could have made better at home for half the price. Food arrived before drinks. Remember Leaf being a place of rustic, good quality and affordable food with very friendly service. Won't be returning 👎🏻

Very disappointed - waited to be seated for 20 minutes & another 25 minutes reading the menu - got up walked out and no never complained because there was no one to complain to - poor

The disgusting treatment of a French band by a man called PJ Smith, at your venue on Tuesday. This man was swearing and making accusations about the bands relatives, stirring up the audience in a xenophobic manner against the French. He was unprofessional, the whole evening nearly resulted in violence because of the atmosphere created by this Smith character. Absolutely sickening. What a welcome to Liverpool the so called home of music. Shameful.

Very noisey place. Uncomfortable sests. Food good. I had burger, friend had crispy calamari. Wouldn't return.

Visited for a client lunch, and atmosphere was great - busy with a bustle but not overwhelming for lunchtime there were still some tables free. A good selection of options for food and drinks - drinks menu was huge for non alcoholic and alcoholic drinks. Food was great, served as the right temperature and good portion sizes, however I'd say service could be quite slow. It took a while to get the waitresses to recognise we were looking to place an order each time and felt they were actively always looking away until we had to keep flagging them down - great for that they weren't always interrupting conversation but when we're actually looking to order it wasnt so great. There was a mistake on the drinks order which they let us know after and didn't charge for, but otherwise it's a good spot, I just wouldn't mark it as a place for a quick turnaround lunch.

Lovely english breakfast and the tea was really good. It felt a tiny bit crowded but I suppose it's a popular place. The staff was exceptional, you could tell they are a great team.

Went here for a dating social event. Nothing special, I found the architecture to be boring & dated. Drink prices were okay, if you get spirits nope .

Overall a three star visit. The lady at the front has good service. Food only deserve a 2stars, despite being a famous brunch restaurant. Egg royale is very disappointing. The choice of egg is not good. This is obviously the cheapest egg on the market, it is incredibly small,the egg yolk is incredibly watery, and the colour should be golden instead of pale yellow!! Only 1 sourdough served, i have had 2 in other famous brunch place. Hollandaise sauce is bland and not thick enough, overall a disappointment. English breakfast is average, I mean how worst could it be for food u just bought them from supplier and pan fried it? Yea, the bacon is extremely salty. And getting the bills is just too slow, had to inform the staff twice for around 10 mins. I wouldnt have paid for service charge but luckily they dont charge.

we came here last night with 2 foreign language assistants who have never been to liverpool before. we came to leaf because i’ve been multiple times and really enjoyed it. last night i felt so let down and embarrassed. on arrival we were greeted with not very happy faces, telling us the booking wasn’t on the system. they then sat us down begrudgingly and we already felt not welcome. we all ordered a drink, and whilst one of the girls was asking about the vegetarian options she was given blunt responses, followed by an earring falling out on the table infront of her, with no apology, and the waitress continued to fiddle with her ear whilst talking. anyone who works in hospitality knows that messing with jewellry infront of customers can be seen as highly unhygienic. we then waited for food, enjoyed the drinks and the food was then served. we were asked if we’d like any condiments or anymore drinks, the servers couldn’t even look us in the eyes, and none of them smiled at all through the whole time we were there. food was delicious as always but still we continued not to feel welcome. we were then told that they usually close at 6:30, we came at 7:15, and weren’t expecting a table (still not an excuse to give bad service). people may see this as an unreasonable review and reaction, but for the first time in a long time i do feel massively let down. i work in hospitality, i have done for 5 years. i know how frustrating it is to have a last minute table come in and order food. but you’re there and you’re hired to provide a service, no matter how frustrating or tired you may be, it’s the way hospitality works. it’s how businesses make their money, it’s how your wages get paid. we had no idea you were going to be closed, and if you were, the booking should’ve been rejected. maybe if you’re thinking of booking here, go on a busier night where the staff look willing to do their job and you don’t feel unwelcome the entire time

Amazing staff, lovely food and drink. I will definitely be back. These pictures are from their monthly pudding club which I would 10000% recommend. We’ve been quite a few times now and are still surprised by the amazing atmosphere, different teas (which is my favourite) and different desserts. Coming here is always a great night and is one of my favourite places.

We arrived at 8.15, asked for a table for dinner and ordered a bottle of wine. We started drinking the wine and were then told the kitchen had closed early. We spoke to the manager about this and he couldn’t have been more helpful. We ended up staying for dinner: the food was delicious and the ambience lovely too, great live music and a beautifully lit space. Thank you.

Nice environment inside but my steak sandwich was quite literally cremated, despite having been offered it “pink”. Chips were not fresh and very bendy. Nice for drinks but couldn’t recommend for food. Service was pretty slow and unfriendly too

We came here as the restaurant looks so nice. There were lots of empty tables but took so long to be seated. We explained my Mum was gluten free and they left a book of ingredients on our table with no explanation of what my Mum could order. To say the service is slow is an understatement. We waited ages for our drinks and food. My Mum's gluten free sandwich was dry, no butter and tasteless. We then waited so long for the bill I had to go up to the bar to pay. There are so many wonderful, quirky places to get here so I would most definitely NOT recommend Leaf.

Had our wedding celebration at LEAF on Bold Street - it was an absolute pleasure dealing with the staff from start to finish, particularly the Events Manager Chris. Despite inheriting our booking from a previous contact who had left the company, Chris was across all of the detail from the outset, including complex room changes and AV requirements. We chose the canapes, Good Times Buffet and Late Night Bites - there was so much food and everyone commented that it was great. Alina, Mark and Matty were all brilliant. Thoroughly recommend LEAF for your special occasion!

Tried leaf for the first time today. Did not have the food so cannot comment on the food. However, we were shown quite quickly to our table but it did take quite awhile for someone to take our order. Myself and my partner ordered two teas which both arrived warmish so had to drink it quick to prevent it from getting cold which I found to be the case towards the end. Also, a staff member was quite rude when we asked for the bill as my partner requested for the check which was responded to with a snarky comment by the waiter. Would not recommend but would recommend moose coffee for a much friendlier and nicer experience.

Don't get the pancakes, they looked mouldy inside - thankfully they were removed from the bill. Full english breakfast was nice.

We didn't have any food at Leaf, but enjoyed a couple chais. While the atmosphere is wonderful, great music and decor, the staff were a bit all over the place. People were serving the same tables or not serving them at all.

One of my all time faves. Always find myself coming back here, either to get some writing done or catch up with friends. Talia was super attentive & lovely :)

Been here a few times. Food good. But today waited 55mins for scrambled egg and salmon. Nobody approached us to ask if we needed another drink or to keep us informed. Looked like another pair of hands on front and in kitchen needed. Felt sorry for front of house as usual calm replaced by hectic. Manager should have 1. Apologised for delay for those already waiting . 2 manage expectationsons for customers entering.... great to see you but just so you know a delay on food. I just hope they get back to good placeand wish them all the best but today not good.

Was a great choice for Sunday roast. I had a beef one and was absolutely happy, probably the best I’ve tried. And teas are great. Loved chilli and ginger roibos. However, not fully working toilets when you are so busy is not the best practice :(

We visited as a table of 8 around 7.15pm. Amplified live music (although great) was very loud, making it difficult to talk - it would be better if it was more acoustic at that time of night. Service was poor, took 15 mins and having to go up and ask the bar to get served. Despite it not being that busy and seemingly a lot of staff on. Food was ok, although steak was tough and cold - but they did refund that. Then our plates were not cleared and we weren’t offered any more drinks until we asked for the bill at 9pm. We would have had desserts if we were asked. It’s a beautifully decorated place with a nice atmosphere. So much potential.

Incredible food! Expect a wait but it's well worth it. The team are rushed off their feet so it can take a while for them to clear tables and take orders. I'll definitely be back! I also loved the lady on the front desk - so funny and frank about the time delay so we were able to just chill and enjoy the atmosphere while we waited

There are always brilliant live events here. Great range of drinks, plus beforehand you can get tasty food downstairs.

Walked in, greeted quickly and shown to a table. Then completely ignored. Watched staff arguing. My wife walked up to the bar and tried to order. Barman said nothing and drank from a straw. Staff had back to my wife until she said excuse me and then was told we would be served at the table. Two staff walked over still arguing. Then cleaned another table and walked away. We walked out. Shocking service or lack of it! Never again.

We had late (4pm) Sunday lunch for 10 of us here. Good friendly service. Good menu choices available. Busy, is a popular venue for different age groups. As we were paying in groups, they have an innovative way of taking payment. They bring the total bill up on screen, then take off what you have had and you pay then for this only. It worked very well and quite quick to do, provided of course you can remember exactly what you ordered!! Leaf is in Bold St Liverpool. Update as on 01/09/24. Still very good service and we all really enjoyed the "Scouse" on the menu, which 5 of the 7 of us chose!

This was a return visit as we previously enjoyed the food and atmosphere. I ordered the big breakfast, its such a shame they don't swop items as i ended up leaving the tomato and black pudding. The food was cooked perfectly and the granary toast was delicious, my only criticism the food was not hot it was just warm, i was that hungry i just ate it. I felt the prices were a tad high end, but we were treating ourselves due to an anniversary. I would definitely re visit as the food tasted great. Staff were very pleasant too.

Stopped in after some thrifting in nearby shops, unfortunately it wasn't for us. Perhaps we came on a bad day but the service was very slow. We waited 20 minutes for the bill which was quite expensive. Also had better eggs benedict if we are being honest, the poached eggs were solid in the middle, not the usual runny texture you'd expect with eggs benedict. The pancakes were tasty but very sweet and doughy so we did not finish them. Perhaps our own fault for ordering such a sweet breakfast. Seems like a great spot, hopefully just caught on a bad day.

Food was very good; iced tea was substandard, especially for a tea shop. We were rushed by the service staff, they gave us about 3 minutes to look at the menu. However, this also conveniently meant that the food was fast out of the kitchen.

i don’t usually leave reviews, but me and my mum were really excited to try leaf, as we were massive fans and regular visitors of ‘the garden by leaf’ in FACT before it closed. but we were massively disappointed by this place. ignored for ages by the staff - definitely weren’t enough staff on. even when they were nearby, they didn’t acknowledge us (would’ve been nice for them to say they’ll be with us soon when they made eye contact with us from next to us - we had been waiting to order for 10 mins, exc the time we took deciding what to order). even when they served us, it was unfriendly and nonchalant. food was nice, but the rigatoni was really spicy and we didn’t have much water between us - only to then realise as we were leaving, that there was a water dispenser. they could have told us about that? we also asked for a jug of water, and yet we weren’t given one despite other table’s having a jug. there were also fruit flies all over our food? we understand that it happens but it was unsanitary as there were so many. overall, unenjoyable and we won’t be returning. completely baffled by all of the positive reviews.

My best friend and I went to LEAF for brunch on Sunday, and as usual it was just a lovely experience. An incredible menu with loads of vegetarian choice, a friendly and warm atmosphere and the service was brilliant. Our server, Kate, could not have been more patient with my picky tea taste - as a huge tea drinker I know exactly what I want! - but Kate spent so much time ferrying various teas back and forth for me to smell! Kate was so smiley and really made our experience. We will undoubtedly be back!

Came down to the restaurant to eat, we were working as suppliers for an event upstairs, so had pre booked food so we could eat before we had to be back working the event. 3 of us had the burger. For some reason, mine was incredibly salty and totally inedible. I raised this with the waitress, who advised me that she didn’t know what it was supposed to taste like as she was vegan. Not sure that’s the correct reaction to a customers complaint, or how that’s helpful in any way. I was offered a replacement meal which I was told would’ve taken 5 mins (not very reassuring) but as the event on the first floor had started, I didn’t really have time to wait so left hungry and somewhat perplexed. The other guys burgers were ok, they tried mine and agreed the salt levels were frankly ridiculous. Beer was good. Ambience was good.
