Castle St Townhouse in Liverpool

Another of the many fine finds for food in Liverpool central. We tried it for breakfast first, they blew us away. French toast is French toast, unless you have it here. Apart from an oversized portion, it was melt in your mouth good. My wife had an equally great Eggs Benedict. So, we started off with the right choice, ably assisted by Joe who, over visits, became attached, in a positive way. Brunch on a Sunday with friends was an equally great Sunday Roast selection which did not disappoint, but again oversized portions, served equally well by Ella. I wanted to try a typical full Liverpool breakfast, so we ventured back again, way too much wonderful food, eyes bigger than my belly. Did I say that this became our end of the evening bar, Old Fashion and Cosmopolitan's made by Gareth and also Sebastian rounded out our evenings. We will come here the next time we visit Liverpool.

Great bar, didn't sample the food as we had eaten over the road, but the service was excellent and the drinks were very good also... The setting is stunning and we love this place...

Fantastic breakfast with tremendous service from Dylan, Faz & Lottie. A group of 8 of us enjoyed various offerings and all of us loved what we’ve had and have all agreed to return tomorrow! Not often 8 of us going out and speaking highly of what we enjoyed.

We had an amazing breakfast and later on popped in for coffee and cake. The staff were really friendly, food was great and thanks to Dylan for his hospitality. Will visit again when we’re next in this amazing city!

We visited on Sunday 6th of October for lunch and really enjoyed it. The staff were really friendly and it was great service all round, in particular our server Lottie! We all really enjoyed our food and thought the decor inside was lovely. You felt like you were out for a nice meal but the prices were very reasonable!

What a gorgeous place. Been meaning to come for months and finally got here and was well worth the wait. We had the 3 course Sunday lunch (£21.50pp). Was amazing value for money, enjoyed every last bite. Lottie and Dylan were our servers, mainly Lottie, they were very pleasant and attentive but not overboard and were happy to discuss the menu and have conversation with us. Have already recommended to family and friends and cannot wait to go back, hopefully a bit later when live music is on (after 2pm).

We ate here for Sunday lunch the other day. It's one of the best roasts I’ve ever eaten. Great location. Lovely atmosphere with a really good singer. Thank you for looking after us, we will be back on our next visit to Liverpool.

I was here on Sunday afternoon and it was of my best ever experiences I have had in any restaurant in the UK. The price was literally unbelievable for a 3 course meal (21.50). The lovely Irish lad was so genuine and helped with every request. Next time I'm back in liverpool I will definitely be back thank u so much to everyone at castle street townhouse!

Booked a table for 6 on Sunday and we had the 3 course Sunday meal. The service by the staff was excellent. The food you couldn't fault it. We had a brilliant afternoon and would recommend the Townhouse to anyone. Will be definitely calling again.

Gorgeous decor (like a posh hotel eatery) lovely and friendly staff and excellent service from start to finish. We were made to feel so welcome by the staff and they were really professional and efficient. The breakfast we had was lovely and very reasonably priced. Everything about this place is absolutely spot on and I would 100% recommend!

We came here as a last minute lunch decision for our anniversary. All of the servers were really friendly, we had a lovely quiet little table and then after our food came out they surprised us with 2 cocktails - I explained that I dont drink but we really appreciated the gesture, within 2 minutes she was back with non alcoholic cocktails for us to cheers! Really was a lovely surprise, after our meal they then came over with another surprise of a brownie and ice cream to share ! It was honestly such a lovely, unexpected experience, all of the staff really went above and beyond. The food was absolutely incredible, as well as the drinks. You really can't go wrong here! We will definitely be back, I'd highly recommend for anyone who passes through Castle Street <3

A masterclass in when great service kicks in when mistakes are made. We stopped for breakfast, it was a busy Saturday morning. Our delicious food arrived, but unfortunately our drinks were forgotten. After asking a different member of staff to the one who initially served us for an update on the drinks, our original server came over. He started with an apology, put his hands up, said "I'm really sorry guys, this one's my fault". We could see the place was busy so we weren't that bothered, but his handling was really worthy of giving him much deserved praise. Our drinks followed, and they were knocked off the bill too. He bent over backwards to get our drinks to us pronto, again apologised and was able to chitchat to us once the place became less busy. An absolute asset to the business, great food, sincere and friendly staff, we'll be back for sure

First time visit to this place and the Club Ciabattas were so delicious and very filling. Staff member Chloe was very attentive and gave a great service throughout. The atmosphere was chilled and comfortable. Highly recommend

Castle St Townhouse @ Liverpool, UK Atmosphere: Posh and polished interior converted from an older building. Service: Staff are knowledgeable, courteous and attentive. They are able to provide good recommendations. Food: Ordered the half townhouse which consists of a sausage, a bacon, scrambled eggs (for me), beans, a hash brown, black pudding, a mushroom, a tomato and a slice of toast. Paired it with a cup of cappuccino. Simply put everything was delicious together. Atmosphere: Chic and refined interior housed in an old building. Service: The staff is competent, courteous and attentive. They are able to provide good recommendations. Meal: I ordered the half townhouse which consists of sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs (for me), beans, hash brown, black pudding , a mushroom, a tomato and a slice of toast. I accompanied it with a cup of cappuccino. In short, everything was delicious together.

We dropped in for brunch on Monday. The outside seated area was busy, more comfortable, and cooler inside. We were quickly seated and brought a pitcher of cold water while we browsed the menu. I went for the steak and eggs which was cooked just how I like it. My partner decided on eggs hollandaise with bacon, again, cooked and presented very well. The service was quick and friendly. Overall, a good brunch experience.

Fabulous food and service. The staff are all extremely well trained, friendly, helpful and clearly enjoy working at CST. We loved it so much we went back twice!! Throughly recommended

We waited for more than 15 minutes for a table for breakfast. Whilst 4 other couples were shown straight to a table with no reservation. Unsatisfactory service.

Castle St Townhouse Stopped for brunch at the English Restaurant in Liverpool, but before noon there aren't many food options to choose from. But the drinks are complete!! Relax, there's not enough food and enough drinks. Almost everything is delicious. But if you go very late There will be a lot of food out of stock. Prices are medium, not very expensive. #TravellingAsACouple

Came here for the first time, honestly was so disappointed we encountered a staff member that was quite rude, (not all are just one of the people we interacted with) the food is overpriced and not a brilliant portion. Really disappointed as I’ve heard good things. Probably Won’t be coming back.

Popped in mid afternoon for a couple of drinks. A lovely old bank building now a most comfortable bar to enjoy a social. We didn't eat but my Guinness and the girls Pinot Grigio blush went down well and the service from staff was friendly and welcoming so whether you're a local or visitor highly recommend.

OMG had the most amazing belated mother day today with my mum, mum in-law and sister in-law. Mazz was the best host he couldn't do enough for us and the Liv music that started after 3 was a lovely extra. The food was lovely and plenty of prosecco.

As first time visitors of the lovely city called Liverpool we hadn’t the foggiest idea of where we’d go for breakfast. Walked around the city hungry, no phone service at the time to find a decent place we stumbled upon Castle St Townhouse thinking “This place will be as good as any.” only to find out it was better than any. From the good food to the lovely and friendly people serving us. Everything was absolutely top notch. Immediately asking us if we’re alright and if we have any allergies was a massive plus for us and made us feel very welcome. We’re not the biggest fans of breakfast but I do love me some typical English breakfast (eggs, bacon, beans, sausages and all that) and this was probably the best food we had during our whole stay in Liverpool. The apple juice we ordered was very fresh and definitely the best I’ve ever had. Keep doing what you’re doing. Next time we’re in Liverpool there will be no if, buts or maybe’s about where we eat. We’ll run straight to you!

Went with friends for bottomless brunch. This was my first time at Castle St Townhouse, had boss time . Food was nice and prosecco fresh. Would recommend this place.

I paid £34.10 for a glass of merlot; a pint of lager, half a pint of Cider and a diet coke. WHAT A RIP-OFF!

I'd say we visit here pretty regularly, but I prefer it a bit earlier in the evening as it can get pretty busy and the bar area is a bit tight. The service from most of the bar staff is fast and efficient (one or two though are more interested in looking cool and chatting to girls at the bar). There's a decent range of beers and obviously loads of cocktails etc. Last time I had a zero alcohol lager it wasn't great (erdinger) but I've not ordered one since so may have a better selection now. When ordering short drinks you get a proper glass for single measures, which is actually unusual round these ways, so it's nice if you're just wanting to have a relaxing drink and not get too drunk. Pricey place though, even more so than most in the area, but it's a good bar with usually decent music. Just pick and choose who you go to to get served!

Went in when it was reasonably busy (4th March 23), there was a small space with seats between the front window and the bar. The doorman watched as we queued at the bar and paid for a reasonably expensive round of drinks. We then sat down and then got told we were 'in the way', I explained that there was nowhere else to go as it was so busy, I was l told by the doorman in a patronising way that he didn't care and to 'just get out of the way' weirdly though we were in the corner and not in anybody's way? I was disgusted with the way I was spoken to and immediately left, leaving my friends and my full drink behind, will never go back.

Good Food at a reasonable price and a nice ambience too. Just that the waitress could have been a little bit better than throwing the bill at our table.

We were staying in a hotel on the same street and decided to pop in for lunch on our last day in Liverpool. Once we got there we were told that breakfast was on till 1pm, lunch started at 1pm - which wasn’t what we wanted but we decided to stay for breakfast as we had a train to catch. The decor was nice, the place was clean. The customer service started good, we got seated quickly and our order was taken quickly too. It wasn’t very busy, I’d say 4 tables were occupied by small groups. Once we got our food, we had to ask for missing cutlery, nobody came back to ask how our food was, nobody came back to take another drinks order. Most of the staff were at the back of the restaurant chatting. I ordered the eggs florentine but it was missing the eggs. Not sure how that’s possible but once I managed to get hold of someone, they just served me eggs on the side. Not ideal as that’s not what i ordered and as my bf started eating, I had to wait to find out what was going on. Out of curiosity, I asked (politely) what happened and all I got was ‘I don’t know, the chef was confused’. They tried to charge us £55 for a disaster meal, ignored and to chase them around for a little service. The lady made me feel like a burden for asking and made me feel like it was my fault. It even got to the point where my bf had to go up to the desk and make payment even though we asked to pay several times. I can understand if it was busy, but it wasn’t and they had plenty of staff! I wouldn’t return, which is a shame because my bf enjoyed his breakfast.

We were over for a game and found this place by accident, and what a find! Had a few drinks on the Saturday evening, nice chilled out bar. Good tunes and just a great atmosphere - staff are class. Some random guy recommended the brekkie, so we said we'd try it the following morning before the flight. Absolute great brekkie! Couldn't believe how they transformed in place in a matter of hours. They cook the brekkie fresh as well, but worth the wait! Good coffee too. Hats off guys, see ye next time we're over!

I visited the townhouse with a group of family and friends to celebrate a 60th birthday. The staff were extremely accommodating, arranging for our group of 15 to sit together, and the waitress was out of this world. Friendly, efficient, and really helpful, she made our time there the best it could be. We had the Bottomless Brunch, the bubbles flowed freely, and the food was great, with excellent portion sizes. Thanks to all the staff at the Castle Street Town House.

The "manager" didn't want to give us a table because there wasn't and had half an empty restaurant. A garbage of a place. I don't recommend it. And the manager is inep.

Stopped in for breakfast today. The restaurant is clean and comfortable seating. Food was delicious and lovely coffee. Staff were very nice and took the time to have a chat. Definitely will eat here again.

It has two steps. I asked inside if they had a wheelchair ramp, for my wife who is in a wheelchair. The staff inside said no. This venue is therefore not accessible to wheelchair users. It needs to purchase a ramp as it is a legal requirement under the equality act.

Lovely location and great food, beautiful presentation and it tasted amazing. They were doing 50% off food as well. Lovely decor which gives an upmarket feel and the staff were incredibly professional and polite.

Expensive place, for what it is... 1pt lager and 1 G&T (single) just under £18.00...and the gin was served in a hot glass... very strong smell of cooking/cabbage pervaded the whole place.... possibly deemed trendy, but we would not return. Left after the one drink and went elsewhere as there is lots of choice in the area.

Great pub for young ones to get the party started , great atmosphere, good music , gets quite full so makes it uncomfortable at times . Barman very friendly . Good place to go if your young but make sure you have enough money as drinks are very very expensive .

Had a lovely breakfast here last saturday after a heavy night on the town. The food was superb and served in next to no time, the staff are friendly and the prices were ok, decent atmosphere so all round a great experience, highly recommended.

This is a great place to have a drink and the staff in the restaurant are polite and accommodating but let down by the kitchen. TBH the food was very poor. We opted for a Sunday dinner which was not well cooked. The roast beef was tough and the vegetables were limited and portion size was small. At £17.50 it should have been better.

Ordered 2 meals and 1 kids meal, drinks arrived quick, 30-40 mins later no food had arrived. 3 tables who came after had already been served so I asked the staff they said it had been reordered (I assume this means we had been forgotten) which happens I understand. When the food finally arrives the child meal didn't. We never said anything as said child was restless anyway. When the bill came the childs meal was on there. I asked for it to be removed as it never arrived to which I got questioned on whether I ordered it together etc. I got a weak apology and nothing more. On the other hand our food and drinks were very nice.

Recommend the roast dinner here, it's really nice. The pasta main meal is also lovely. Portion sizes are really good too. The staff were brilliant and a credit to the restaurant. Also, the live artist on a Sunday adds so much to the experience. Will definitely be back...

Popped in on the off chance of getting a table. Ordered two full breakfasts. Lovely food, especially the sausages. Also provided with water at the table. However, we weren't given any glasses for the water, and the waitress couldn't answer simple questions such as what time the breakfast menu was available to, and what the soup of the day was. So maybe a little more attention to detail from the staff, otherwise they were very friendly. Nice atmosphere.

Bottomless brunch was fabulous! The food was surprisingly good (usually at these things the focus is the ‘bottomless’ bit). Our drinks were constantly being topped up and the staff were friendly and attentive. I’d definitely go back…I’d like to try some more of the menu, it looked great.

Sat on the patio and enjoy people watching in the Hometown of The Beatles with 1977-79 "disco music" like a soundtrack to a live existential urban landscape was almost surreal. The Mocha was great and "Donna Summer" the funkiest!
