Black Horse Pub in Liverpool

Staying near by for 2 nights so had a few beers ,nice to see a busy pub,keith and Caz

No service, no staff, had to walk out to the Glebe and was served immediately by efficient polite staff.

I haven't been in for a while so it was nice to come back in today to be greeted like I haven't been away. Staff are always lovely and I can have a laugh with them. Drinks always nice and cold and I honestly cannot fault this pub. It's my favourite pub on county road.

I came in today with my partner for good Friday and the food was lovely. We both had fish and chips and couldn't fault anything at all. The staff were lovely and friendly, food was lovely and we had a really pleasant afternoon.

Nearly two hours wait for food is absolutely shocking when it was empty We ordered our drinks first had to re ask for the hot drinks because he just did not do them After 45 minutes wait like we were originally told we waited another 15 then asked how long we had to wait to be told another 25 minutes and got told in future how about booking before hand because there is other people here as well All food came out The pies were microwaved pies not freshly made Gravy was freezing cold Peas were also stone cold And on all the meals we had chips and YES we did count them all they were between 6-8 chips on each plate In the mean time we had joys of hearing and listening to smashing coming from bar/kitchen area Not one member of staffed smiled while serving it looked like it was a effort to serve anybody who attended the bar Not a warm welcome to number of people who want food and drinks in the pub

The food is generally good in here, however we came for our tea last Tuesday and waited 45 mins for 2 meals. We came again tonight and were told it was an hours wait for food. It weren’t particularly busy on either of these evenings. Thought it was a really long time to wait for pie and chips at 6.30pm.

Food was gorgeous was worth the wait 😁

Had a little bit of a wait, and it's a fairly nondescript standard pub, but the drink was pretty damn cheap for what I had.....a big double gin and tonic.

I visited with four friends looking for a bite to eat after checking out of our Airbnb. We arrived at about 11.50am and were told by a staff member that we'd have to wait outside until the pub opened at midday. On one hand, fair enough, but given the weather I fail to see what harm it would have done to let us in to sit at a table until they were ready to serve. When we were let in, we spent a good ten minutes looking at the food menus. Only at that point did a staff member ask us if we were looking to order food, and then she told us that they weren't serving food to the public until 2pm because they had a Christmas booking in for lunch. The staff clearly would have known they weren't going to be serving food when they opened, and given they knew we were waiting outside, simply asking us if we were looking to eat at the very start would have saved us both standing outside in the cold and let us find somewhere else. Would not recommend, which is a shame because it looks like a nice pub from the outside.

Went in here whilst staying nearby and was not disappointed. Greene king pubs are often hit and Miss but this was ok with good food. It is a local’s pub and Everton supporters pub and that made it a good atmosphere. The food is cheap and cheerful but quite decent tbh.

Still the best pub on the road coming to this pub long time good staff great food on Saturday Sunday night Disco night.

Annoying that away fans go here nowadays, but service is fast, beer garden is lovely too, big screen in beer garden for football.

Love the black horse. It's literally like my second home. I come in for a nice quiet pint and something to eat and its lovely. The staff are all really friendly and I've made some brilliant friendships with the afternoon staff. Thank you for always being so welcome and putting up with me haha.

Good prices on food and drinks. The place is a little rough. Not ideal for families but, great place for friends to enjoy a pint and watch the match

We had a lovely time at the Black Horse. Food was great, came out quite quickly and all meals were really tasty. we had a build your own burger and children meals, really great for value. Staff were great. they were friendly and helpful and accommodating to the kids. we regularly go for food and a couple of cocktails when out on a night out and we will defienlty be back for dinner.

Easily best pub for EFC matchday

We visited the Black Horse while staying in Liverpool visiting family. Loved it! Staff helpful and friendly. Locals very warm and welcoming. Great food and beer. Can't wait to visit again.

I went in with my family which we where told the kitchen was closed so I asked the girl why it was close she said the kitchen member was on his break 😳 they only have 1 kitchen staff??? We where there for at least 1 hour and a half but in that time they turned away alot of trade in my opinion not away to run a pub I've worked in the trade along time as a manager and this pub used to be great but now I'm surprised it's still open. My baby was getting a bit restless at this time they did open the kitchen my wife asked a member of bat staff if we can have a portion of beans for the baby just so she would be OK till we got home he said he will tell the kitchen staff to but a rush on it we where still waiting another 25 minutes. We then got up and left but not before my wife complained to the member of bar staff and the manageress was sitting at the end of the bar rapping cutlery and she never said a word to my wife not even a sorry. I will never step foot in there again.

Looks much nicer with the makeover. Not to sure about the Everton theme especially with the club moving away but that part can easily be altered. Not sure about the 45 min wait for a very small bowl of lukewarm chips today, on a Monday.

The food was really good and so were the young girls behind the bar. You can tell a good pub by how happy the staff are to serve you and have a bit of banter. My friends were visiting from Glasgow and insisted we go back again. Thank you all for a wonderful evening. The Black Horse puts other Greene King pubs to shame. Much appreciated. Scott COYB

Nice place for a drink staff very friendly

Visited on a week day afternoon. Quiet pub but food was good.

Cannot recommend the black horse enough. The staff are amazing and I just want to say a massive thank you to each and every one of you. You all always go above and beyond and the other day when I brought my family member in who has disabilities, Saun was amazing with him. I couldn't ask for any more from my local. Thank you.

Brilliant beer garden with huge screen showing sports, food & drink prices aren't bad. Friday & Saturday after 8pm there is a Dj loads of young ones having a ball. Good mix of age groups, every one really friendly the staff are lovely too.

Cannot rate this pub enough. It's like my second family. My dog recently passed and the staff were great with me. Consoled me and had a good talk with me and bayley even bought me a drink after his shift. Thank you so much use really are amazing and always go out your for me

Just a must visit if you are staying in Liverpool. Bailey and our boy Posh Mike are just absolute legends and provided the most incredible service through multiple visits during our stay. Unrivalled hospitality and truly the best staff. Hot food, cold pints, and a great atmosphere. Don’t miss it.

went in the afternoon to ask about children coming in got told in before 6 outfor7 got there at 5.20 only to be told kids out by 6 absolutely disgraceful they haven't a clue telling everyone wont go back the again

Best place ever. Good staff, brilliant management can’t complain. Great atmosphere. Best night I’ve ever had in my night been coming now for about 15 years. Never been a dull night since I’ve been coming. Local pub to me which is the best one I’ve been to over the years. You won’t have a bad night here. Quiz night on a Wednesday is a must go too. They let kids in too till around 7 o’clock at night aswell. The locals are so nice everyone gets one with eachother.

I have drank in the Horse for many years and it has always been a great friendly place to drink. It can get very busy at times but the staff and the management are always a friendly, happy and helpful group who go out their way to assist. 👍

Cannot thank the staff enough in the black horse. I come in most days for a quiet pint and a natter with staff, they are always really nice and polite and actually took my breath away the other day when it was my birthday and they surprised me with some cake and a few pints that the staff had chipped in for. Cannot thank use enough. I love my local and would never think of going anywhere else.

Very good food staff are very friendly and helpful and a good atmosphere. Can watch horse races, football and well worth coming to this pub.

The place was quiet not a handful of people were eating or finished their meals I ordered drinks and asked them to be put on the tab as I was going to order food the barman said I had to pay for them so I did so. A short time later I went to order food from a barmaid as I started to order she told me there was a 30+ wait for food..no apology for the delay for food..so we finished our drinks and left. Why didn't the first person who served me drinks who I asked about food inform me there was a delay on the food to avoid our disappointment of looking forward to the meals as we were going through the menu... I could fully understand this if the place was busy but it was far from it

I come in on a regular basis to have my tea with my family and it’s always really nice. It’s a lovely pub to have a catch up with friends and family and the meals are good quality. We look forward to coming in again

I came in on Wednesday for the quiz and me and my family really enjoyed it. It was a right laugh. We didn’t win but will definitely be coming back again as Kev was really good. We had our tea before hand which was lovely. We all really enjoyed the meals made by mark. See you next week.

I came in on Saturday for drinks after Everton’s epic win and the pub was buzzing. Everyone was in good spirits, the staff were lovely, cannot fault anything. If you’re looking for somewhere to go for pre/post match drinks I would deffo recommend the black horse. See you for the next match

Beautiful meal. Came for a family meal out to celebrate a birthday. We had a warm welcome as soon as we walked through the door. Staff had good knowledge of the local ales and beers. Menu was extensive with lots to choose from. Food beautifully presented with lovely flavour.
