Le Sandwich in Brighton and Hove

Since the new owner took over I’ve become a regular - the sandwiches are so nice and with *so* much filling, they’re such good value compared to most places. The owner is really friendly and accommodating and I can usually park outside.

Located a one minute walk from my house the location is perfect. My husband works from home occasionally and enjoys getting his lunch from here. Friendly staff and lots of yummy food options. Recommended.

sandwich shop on busy road with no parking,its small but a lot to choose from,specials on board,soups-pulled pork etc.nice but pricey nearly a fiver for breakfast roll.

Hadn’t been here for a number of months as it wasn’t really a place worth visiting unless I needed a quick stop and my usual weren’t open. But...when we walked in....wow what a change. An immediate warm feeling. Obviously change of ownership which they confirmed was about 8 weeks ago. I had a ham salad roll while my wife had a chicken salad wrap. Both were scrumptious, moist and crisp. Definitely worth the stop and in fact we’d agreed that we would even walk the 20 minutes from our place of work to visit Le sandwich, and to get some exercise! So good luck with the business and we love you. We can’t afford to eat there everyday but will defiantly pop along for our weekly treat. Phil & Sallie

I work opposite and had stopped using La Sandwich under the old management. Now we have the lovely Ayisha who is bubbly, friendly and really customer focused. The food is really good and well priced too. Worth visiting because you will enjoy your lunch/breakfast here 😀

Went into the shop around 12:40, asking for a bacon and egg bap, expecting the shop to be like most other cafes. The woman responded sharply and rudely "we don't fry anything after 12". This was confusing as her associate accepted my friend's order of a breakfast baguette(which is also only served before 12) was accepted without question. After repeating herself she checked with her associate who was preparing my friend's baguette. The associate said my order was allowed, but the girl again repeated herself as a 'reminder'. My request for the egg to be hard fried was evidently ignored, as i discovered when the soft runny yolk burst all over uniform. I was half tempted to walk out the door and tell her not to bother. It was not worth £4 either. The woman lacked an ounce of politeness or etiquette. Save your money and go anywhere else. This is the fourth time we have bought food from here and every time we have they have been rude and impolite, not listening to our orders properly.

Popped in as was in the area with a friend, for a large cup of tea and an equally large sandwich each. We didnt have to wait long for our freshly prepared food and sat in the window reading the paper while watching the regulars buying their lunches. Sausage for him, advacardo and brie for me. Set us up nicely for the rest of the day.

First time my friend and I visited we was driving along Portland road and spotted this little place it was Saturday afternoon and the shop was closing at 2 and we arrived 1.45 but the lady who served us well..... 5* for her so welcoming and friendly and said we could sit in even though they would be closing as she would be pottering about cleaning if that was ok .... we both had toasted sandwiches served with a garnish salad and it was lovely just what we needed on a very cold bitter Saturday afternoon reasonable prices and good quality food with such amazing service Look forward to visiting you again Thank you

Le Sandwich is a place what I would highly recommend. There's a wide range of fresh and really tasty food, including home-made savoury snacks, from sausage rolls to scotch eggs. It's all, including coffees and other drinks, well-priced; such good value.

I've been to this place many times and now the last few weeks has gone really down hill. The food tastes as if it's been there for days not fresh at all and the chicken in my chicken mayo sandwich was pink inside! YUCK! Gave me a dodgy tummy! I will never visit again which is a shame as it's the closest to my work for lunch time. I guess I will take a packed lunch from now on. I will recommend if you were walking by there....keep walking!

We had our first turkey, stuffing and cranberry sandwiches near Christmas time and they were the best we've ever had. They are packed with filling and fresh cut bread. We've repeated the order since. We now come along for a 'treat' every now and again as we live nearby. Staff seem really nice and both the shop and food look impeccable.

Always a delight with fabulous sandwiches hot savouries coffee teas cold drinks very bijou but great for a quick stop to warm.

My partner and I popped in for a bite of lunch with our son and we were so pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere, friendly service and great value and quality food. Staff were very sweet with our son and we will definitely be returning regularly.

I took a friend for a coffee and a bite to eat. My first complaint would be: a) Staff not at counter to serve: i had to wait 5mins to even be noticed in an empty shop.b) Service was very slow and the lady who served me was quite unfriendly.c) No gloves were used to make my bacon sandwich and I did not even see her wash them.d) The coffee I ordered was very 'chemical' tasting.Overall a very disappointed customer.

We have regularly gone in here for a quick lunch and coffee, recently we have been put off by the scruffy old gent who appears to stand in the shop or behind counter (he has never served us so maybe he is a relative). The shop used to stand out from else where due to the chirpy bubbly staff but our last few visits we have had our sandwiches rushed and sloppy and service is like something off faulty towers. Definately standards slipping no wonder its usually empty.

Such a shame for this business.Normally amazing sandwiches and coffee. During my last visit it seems as if this place has gone down hill fast.I sometimes order for my colleagues as we work nearby. The order was rushed, butter in lumps on the bread, dry bacon and unfortunately now I will have to try the sandwich shop down the road (pickles) for future service.

I ordered a latte to go,but instead i received an americano. Floor and counters looked dirty.My first impression of this place was not very good.

Popped in here for breakfast to get a bacon sandwich and a coffee and decided to upgrade to a full English as it all looked really nice. It's very clean and all the fillings look really fresh and good quality ingredients - nothing looks like it's been kept from the day before. The bread is fantastic which is really important in a sandwich shop. It's freshly baked, very very thick sliced and equally good quality whether you want brown/farmhouse/baguette etc. I was slightly gutted when my amazing looking toast turned up with spread on not real butter though!The breakfast itself was pretty good. This place really strikes me as more of a sandwich shop than a cafe, so it's maybe not fair to judge it against the places that cook all day. The reheated bacon was dry and onion rings are not hash browns (which it was supposed to come with), but overall it was tasty enough and it's a huge portion for very little money. There are a couple of small tables outside and room for 3 people to sit at most indoors so It's more of a take-away than a sit-in place.Scotch eggs and other snacks and cakes all looked delicious although I didn't try them.It's fantastic value for money (sandwiches around £3 ish depending on filling, cooked breakfast £6) and for takeaway sandwiches I think you'd struggle to find better around the area.

I often pop in for coffee and pick up "a little something" on the go during my work hours.Can't fault the food ,whatever type of sandwich,baguette or simple roll I choose it 's great everytime. Above all whether really busy or in less of a rush service is exemplary with a nice smile and time to chat.

Came across this lovely sandwich/coffee shop! I had an amazing sandwich (freshly made to order) and a homemade scotch egg (best I've tasted!) Cheerful and pleasant staff, will definitely be returning soon.

Went to visit some friends in portslade and found Le sandwich,staff were very welcoming and food was very nice. Would definitely go again ☕️

So pleased to find this lovely little sandwich place so close to my new work place ......how wrong I was .... Small batch coffee my favourite !! It was awful -chemical tasting -milk burnt my lip -service was slow -lunch break almost over by the time I was served .... Found staffs idol gossip rather off-putting too -not for me thus shan't be returning -shall advise rest of my office to do the same

What a lovely place you are made welcome service is great and latte is one of the best I have tasted . You don't have to wait long to be served.

Very disappointed with the service and saff were rude and uncooperative.Just a basic cheese and tomato sandwich seemed to cause them more trouble than it was worth. The 2 women stunk of cigarettes and didn't wear protective gloves when making the sandwich. The coffee was cold and tasteless. Certainly not value for money.The premises looked like they needed updating and a good clean. Will not be visiting again or recommending to others, best get yourself a sandwich from Tesco or Sainsbury and save yourself a fortune.

Doing some work in the Hove area, called in to Le Sandwich to grab a bite and must say that its one of the best sandwich shops I've been in to date. Great staff, great food. Will definatly be returning.

Quality is hard to come by nowadays but this place is definitely quality! Very clean, very modern, the staff are super friendly and Steve the owner is just an outright great guy!

Popped in foe a sandwich and coffee at lunch time. Served by 2 excellent staff who constructed two great sandwiches, on a meatball and one a bacon cheese and jalapeño sandwich. Both were excellent on lovely bread. Good small batch coffee. Great friendly staff. One of the best sandwich bars I have been to. Go see for yourself.

Great fast freshly made sandwiches with a smile and the price is similar to an M&S sandwich but fresher, much nicer bread options.

Visited here yesterday and was seriously disappointed, having been here several times previously i was very surprised at how badly downhill this place has gone. Sadly I won't be returning.

Have started venturing out to nearby cafes and the like for my lunch breaks and came across this gem today.The reviews are right on the money, the bread is lovely and I'm not a huge bread fan. Sandwiches are huge, generously filled and very reasonably priced. Designed and decorated well inside and looks clean and neat.Great selection of veggie options which I was impressed with so that's a big plus.Only thing I would say is the loyalty stamp card should really include food and not just coffee in my personal opinion but that's hardly a minus. Otherwise great cafe, highly recommend.

Great selection of meat, fish and veggie sarnies. Always tasty ingredients, deeply filled. Granary bread is to die for, soft and chewy bread. Also a selection of salads, with a 'salad box' option to make your own up. Homemade cakes and snacks, Salty Dog crisps and a drinks fridge with fizzy, juices and other norms. If you're passing and fancy a bite to eat - highly recommended. Prices are impressively low, with sarnies from £2.40 or so.

My wife and I popped into this new establishment a few days ago, first impression is how clean it is, and the warm welcome we received! After deciding what to order (very reasonable prices) we had a short wait and dug into our deep filled sandwiches followed by a couple of coffee Mocha's and home made cakes. Our honest opinion is that you simply cant fault this place, we will become regulars as Im sure will most people who visit, well done to the owner from bringing this to the area.

What a gorgeous little sandwich shop come café takes the every day boring day to day things away as you feel as if you may be in france , great coffee yummy cakes and amazing sandwiches we love to pop in on a Saturday to ,to buy yummy local made bread A++ all the way try it for your self x

I have been here every week since it opened, and I have tried quite a few sandwiches, they have a very large choice to choose from :) my favorite sandwich is the chicken, chorizo, melted mozzarella, plum tomato and rocket!!!!!!!! It's so nice trust me lol. The Banoffee Pie is really nice too :)

I found Le sandwich on a whim on the way home from work. The first thing that struck me was the cleanness of the whole shop. The service was excellent, from taking my order to telling me to take a seat and it would be with me shortly. I have been back several times and it's a real gem. Great for relaxing outside and for a faultless level of service. Go there.... You must!!

I have visited Le Sandwich Coffee Shop on several occasions since it opened back in May and can honestly say that me and my colleagues in my office love the place.The quality of the food is second to none and the friendly service is truly delightful, myself and colleagues come here almost every day for lunch.I have the BLT without fail.Over the past weeks I have got to known the staff and the owner reasonably we'll as they are always interested in engaging with their customers.I have read the negative feedback from an apparent customer who visited in June and I can say it is rubbish as it clearly displays someone who is disgruntled and does not know what they are taking about however it is very detailed so ask the question how they know so much.....?The Coffee Shop serves a lot of local businesses who rave about the quality of the food the the excellent service they deliver.They are also displaying a high hygiene rating and was also reviewed by the Argus with an excellent piece on the Coffee Shop.All reviews are based on ones personal experience but I do suggest if ever you are in Hove go to Portland Road and treat yourself to a memorable experience that will bring you back for more and tell your friends.

Ignore the last comment, it's ridiculous I grab lunch from here on a very regular basis ever since it opened and I'm addicted the their sandwiches and salads. I'm happy to pay the price I do as I feel I am getting my money's worth along with great customer service! I highly recommend ! .....also the bread is delicious
