Le Rendez-Vous in Cardiff

This was by far the best baguette shop in Cardiff. I visited around 5 times on Wednesdays last year after rediscovering the place (I had been a customer years earlier when I worked in Cardiff city centre). Everything was as good as I remembered, and the ambiance was great, good staff, faultless food and drinks. I’m only very sorry I didn’t visit more often when I had the chance, absolutely heartbroken it has gone. During those few visits, I got to remember a few faces and noticed repeat customers, it genuinely seemed like a friendly place and I hope those regulars have been able to find somewhere just as nice to go.

One visit, quick snack as I awaited a late arrival. Late arrival found the cafe so that was a plus. I rarely eat out in Cardiff as I live here but this was the alternative to staring into shop windows!

This cafe has fast become our go to for a drink and a snack when in Cardiff - it is well situated, there always seems to be a table availble for us, no matter how busy it looks, the menu is varied and delicious, and staff are always friendly and attentive. Keep up the good work

We popped in for a light lunch and coffee. There was a nice atmosphere to the place and even though it was busy, the spacing was organised in such a way that you didn't feel hemmed in. My latte was very smooth and flavoursome. I also had a coronation chicken with salad baguette. My wife had the cheese and ham toasties with a cappuccino. Everything was fresh, tasty and of good quality. The meat in my baguette was a good quality chicken, none of this cheap chewy stuff you get elsewhere. Not the cheapest place, we spent approx £15. But you get what you pay for. I will definetly go again.

Mi amigo y yo fuimos a visitar las cafeterías de Cardiff en nuestros descansos para almorzar cuando pudimos, y tratamos de encontrar el mejor café en Cardiff. Le Rendez: Vous no fue el peor café que he tenido en Cardiff de ninguna manera, pero la ubicación es definitivamente el principal punto de venta. El Americano era perfectamente normal, y el Flat White demasiado débil, aunque el tamaño de una regular era más grande que algunos cafés grandes que he probado. Estaba muy ocupado, pero la clientela era muy específica y la mayoría estaba allí para almorzar (lo que para mirar era quizás aún más carente de brillo). En general, hay opciones mucho mejores no muy lejos, por lo que si buscas un buen café, probablemente puedas hacerlo mejor.

Called in for a breakfast roll (brown seeded) and wife had scrambled eggs on brown toast. Service was really good and this is quite a popular place. No issues in recommending. Nice and relaxed half an hour pit stop.

Most food was tasty except my daughter ordered goats cheeseand spinach panini which came laden with chilli sauce which was not mentioned on the menu therefore she was unable to eat she had bitten into it before realising

First visited this place last week,had coffee outside and watched the people passing.Lovely atmosphere,all spoiled by the most awful cup of coffee.Ordered two flat white coffees,not cheap £5.80,waited nearly 10 minutes and the coffee was bitter and only Luke warm,had to add sugar to make it drinkable. Though,it had to be a one off,no it was not!.Today we went inside and again two coffees,once again the wait was not acceptable,think our coffees were left possibly standing for a good while before being served?they again were bitter and not very warm,will not be back. Pleasant inside,novelty lights in the form of teapots and coffee pots.Chairs very heavy to move.

I pop in every weekend for a cuppa and a sarnie..clean, tidy and nice food..try it..friendly staff and pretty quick service

Very very disappointed looked appealing. Until food arrived, Jacket potato inedible no side salad. Cheese toastier dry and rock hard. Don’t waste your time and money unsatisfactory response from manager and very rude

I have been having coffee and snacks here for many years. They give consistently high quality service at fair prices. Diolch yn fair iawn.

Fed four for £20, all the food was nice as was the tea/coffee. Only let down was the person on the till forgot to add a couple of things to the order so we had to wait for them. Didn't really take away from it all though. Would return.

I've eaten hear several times and yet again had a very tasty ham baguette. Staff are friendly and they are not stingy on the filling. Must try their paninis next time.

Lovely place to have a snack, on a break from shopping. Staff are always very friendly, good seating area outside and inside. My personal favourites are the BLT Baguettes and the hot cheese and ham croissants. The croissants often run out at early lunchtime TIP! Go by late morning and pay and order them for later.

Went to Cardiff for the day and stopped for a meal with my Godmother. I have been staying with her and her husband for a week as a break after the death of my mother. We enjoyed the Jacket Potatoes and fruit juice and cup of tea.

Myself and my wife went in for a bacon sarnie this morning. Very good prompt service..sandwich was lovely...place was clean..and eleven quid for 2 bacon sandwiches and a pot of tea for two I thought was reasonable. HAPPY DAYS.

We had paninis. There's not much choice for vegetarians. Food was nice enough, but not a proper squashed down panini. Side salad was tiny, but then it was only a snack.

We stopped here for breakfast and I had a vagartarin Pannini It was nice and I would visit again next time I'm in Cardiff.

Popped in with my mate when we were shopping. Ordered a bacon baguette and a soft drink. Everything was quick and we had our food in no time. Staff were nice and friendly and served us quickly

I often pop in here when in cardiff for a cuppa and rest while shopping. Yesterday I stopped for cardiff and had a tea and a slice of honeycombe tiffin. The tea was excellent, however the tiffin was stale and the only honeycomb was that sprinkled on the top. It was awful. very disappointed. This suggests that they keep food hanging round till they sell it rather than take note o how long it has been in store. I make tiffin occasionally and know it can keep well in an airtight container for a week so this must have been around longer than that or left out uncovered.

El café era el mejor que he tenido durante un tiempo muy largo, y me aseguraron que dijeron que el personal este también. Si alguna vez vuelvo a cardiff, dejo aquí un poco más de tiempo.

Friendly and efficient staff. Food freshly prepared and brought to the table. Nice setting for lunch, coffee stop or snack! Will go back.

Fui con mi familia en un momento bastante tranquilo, pero tuve que esperar una eternidad para té y batidos para ser traído. No fueron llevados hasta que nos fuimos y les preguntó cuánto tiempo tardaría. El helado 'batidos' no contenía helado y chocolate uno parecía muy fina. Cuando pregunté si había helado en la batidos, el camarero nos dijo que sí, pero quizás una cantidad muy pequeña y luego entramos. Sin duda no será ir aquí

Visited here many times over the years. Baguettes excellent BUT filling today was the most meagre salad filling we have ever had. Some shredded lettuce with 3 see through slices of cucumber and 1 slice of tomatoe (cut into 2 halves) in a whole baquette, a little pathetic we thought. Obviously portions cut back but not the price. Disappointing, and told the portions had been cut back to maintain the price, however £4.20 we think warrants at least a couple more slices of tomatoe and see through cucumber.The coffee here is delicious as long as they don't forget to serve you!

We had a lovely lunch at Le Rendez-vous today. The service was acceptable and the waitress was very pleasant. They have gluten free options too. Would definitely go here again.

Popped in on a Sunday afternoon for a BLT baguette and Latte, welcomed break after what seemed like hours shopping. Prices are competitive to other places in town but what I find here is that the food and drink quality are superb. The atmosphere is relaxed and you don't feel pushed to eat and drink up quickly to make way for another customer.

Great tea, sligthly expensive for a tea bag but worth the money for being served in a desinged mug. I would've been more satisfied by a staff who hadn't made me feel like I cut them off at the first impression.But great service at the end coming with a large smile. I could come back with friends.

We usually pop in on a Saturday morning for a toasted sandwhich and hot drink. We are always greeted with a smile. Service is extremely efficient and the food never disappoints. Le Rendezvous-Vous has become a firm favourite with us. Enjoy the banter too.

When in Cardiff I cant stay away from this place. The baguettes are the best in town and the service always comes with a smile. This Saturday I took my daughter who has a number of allergies and once again the staff stepped up. Not only did the lady serving us listen she made a fresh sandwich in front of us avoiding any chance of my daughter eating something she shouldn't. The place has a nice buzz and the coffee is good. I'm yet to have a bad experience and would recommend the baguettes to anyone wanting a quick bite.

Not a good experience, waited and waited until we had to chase, tea for 3 in one large pot but a thimble of milk...coffee ok. With independents galore in Cardiff offering interesting, quirky and exciting pit stops they need to be much better than this to survive the mid term.

I have been here many many times, baguettes and paninis have always been spot on. Unfortunately yesterday was not the case. Cheese and ham panini cheese not melted what little cheese there was, bread stale and not toasted properly chewing for ages very dry as not much cheese and the small salad they put on the side drenched in water... why bother. Coffee and hot chocolate both luke warm It is definitely making me think never again and I am a regular!! Such a shame

I have read all reviews and I fusee I must have caught them on a bad day. We popped in there on Saturday afternoon for a quick snack and a coffee. No complaints about the food of price but the staff were so slow and it took an age for the food to arrive. One of the coffee ding arrive so I asked where it was and they checked the tab and it was missing. I paid for the coffee which was def ordered but not put through. This also took an age to come and when it did it was Luke warm. As we had been there over an hour I just left it and put it down to a bad choice. I can see that most of your reviews are glowing regarding quick service but this definitely wasn't the case for me. Sorry to be negative but hope it helps you improve the service in future. regards Mike.

We visited here bank holiday Monday over Easter, before returning to Plymouth. Lovely staff, comfy seating and fresh coffee, cake and Sandwich. Very happy

Daughter and I stopped here for a hot drink on a cold Cardiff morning. Good efficient service. Superb hot choc and flat white coffee. Delicious caramel shortcake. Comfy chairs and daffodils on the table. Welcoming atmosphere. What more could you ask for?

This is one place we pop into for a quick lunch when shopping in Cardiff, it's clean, cosy and the atmosphere is always friendly. The staff are particularly efficient and courteous and nothing is too much trouble. Although it gets a bit busy around the lunch time period we usually manage to find a table and the service is quick so it's no hassle.The lovely baguettes and paninis are freshly made as are all the items on the menu, all very reasonably priced as is the tea and coffee. It's always a pleasure to eat here and we'd definitely recommend you pay a visit when needing a spot of lunch in Cardiff.

They cater almost for everyone. Always fresh and can cater for Coeliacs (Gluten Free). It is like a family run business, always clean and have both an indoor area and outside area.

We pooped in for lunch - coffees and pigs in blankets ciabattas. Very fast service and very tasty. We sat outside in the arcade area. £14.95 seemed reasonable.

Not being a fan of the run of the mill chains with poor tasting bland coffee this place makes a refreshing change. They take pride in sourcing good quality coffee from local coffee roasters and it shows. Staff are friendly, prices are reasonable and the food is great.

Always a good selection of sandwiches/baguettes freshly made and whenever I have been there staff are always happy and willing to help. I once visited with my fussy eater niece and they were brilliant. Its a bonus that you can pop in for a glass of wine after shopping! Would definatley recommend.

Fresh baguettes made to order, decent tea and coffee. Great place for lunch with a good sized outdoor area for the summer. Often busy so the wait, particularly the queue to order, can be long but the food is better than the chain coffee shops. The service is generally ok, nothing to write home about (they don't smile much) but serviceable.

Popped in here while I was visiting Cardiff for work.Great choice of snacks & fillings.Service was good but they brought my panini & I had a bit of a wait before I received my drink.Nicely decorated with an outdoor seating option.Really enjoyed their cheesecake!
