When my wife was unhappy with the ham quiche (three minute pieces of ham), I mentioned it to a staff member, but she did not seem bothered. She told me to email, but after two attempts and no reply, I went in and explained to a male member of staff. He assured me that my messages would be attended to but I still heard nothing. No matter how good the food may be, the customer service is non-existent. I will not visit Le Petit Prince again.

Petit Prince Wimborne : not so good. We ordered food at the counter, it was busy and took a few minutes. Ordered two different soups plus a savoury croissant and drinks. Coffee arrived first, spilt, no comment from staff. About 30 minutes later our food arrived. Both soups were the same as the kitchen had run out of one flavour. Staff did not tell us and brought the same soup which was the one containing meat. Staff did not know which soup it was. Ordered cakes afterwards. Flavour was ok but not as good as they should have been and Petit Prince is s capable of ! Overall a disappointing visit unfortunately.

A great local venue- quality, freshly prepared food and good coffee. Lots of space to meet with friends or catch up on work. This place is an asset to Wimborne.

Looks nice from the outside and a good selection of above average looking cakes. Went to till to order where 3 front of house were behind counter. All moved away with no acknowledgement or hello be with you in a moment type greeting. No smiles. Ordered coffee from a really miserable waitress no thank you just “ill bring it over”. Could not use card reader as previous customers receipt was on there obscuring the scanner. This was removed and just scrumpled up. Checked my copy - merchant copy given- showing full account no so GDPR needs urgently reviewing. My table had just been cleared but not wiped so sat down to someone elses crumbs snd spills. Came away disappointed and worried! Wont be back.

On a quiet Sunday afternoon I wasn’t acknowledged at the counter, staff can’t even be bothered to look up and say hello. I’m not sure why they think they’re there but it certainly isn’t to serve customers. They’re rude and dismissive, unfriendly and clearly dislike being interrupted in their chats with one another. I ordered a coffee and a quiche, stating clearly which quiche (out of a choice of only two) I wanted. After 20 minutes I was brought my order but it was the wrong quiche. The staff all seem as miserable as sin when they have to have any interaction - I expect this lovely place will close soon as most of the reviewers seem to be voting with their feet - me too 😢

Arrived, table was dirty, 5 members of staff behind counter, asked for a cloth and lady said she’d do it but left the table wet but politely explained it’ll take time to dry. I then asked another member of staff for cloth to dry it which he bought over. £3 for a fizzy drink but had to ask for a glass. I think the service could be vastly improved.

Went here for early breakfast with family, food and coffee good. Service was poor, unfriendly, no smiling at all. Also if you go early take a coat, freezing, no heating on. The owners clearly pay no attention to the many bad reviews on here, and have nothing to improve. Unless they improve I think this will soon be an empty shop. It's a shame as this used to be really good.

Popped in to buy some cakes. Two girls behind the counter - one by the till, one at the other end. Nobody else at all in the shop half of this business. Both girls had heads turned and didn't look at us. We select what we want from the chiller - still not a glance. We wait - now we're one to one and a half minutes in to standing at the counter with not a glance from either staff - one of whom casually passes a remark to the other. One now looks at us and says 'go to the till to place your order' - seemingly helpful but in reality blindingly rude. We shuffle to the till. Girl keeps head turned and carries on assembling a cake box (nobody waiting for it!) and does not offer any recognition we are there. At least 30 seconds more pass - my wife and I look at each other and silently decide that's it. We walk. I look back as I open the door - not a glance from the staff! This is the second consecutive visit we have been 'dissed'. Last time in, we ordered coffees and a croissant - to be warmed. Coffees came - we drank, as we finished I caught an eye and asked after the croissant - 'oh I forgot to put the order through - it'll only be 5 minutes'. I asked for my money back. The chap behind the counter then gave me the take-out price back when I paid to eat in. I corrected him - he didn't even know his own prices! Le Petit Price Wimborne has been our go-to coffee shop for years - we're voting with our feet now. A shame - products great, but to get them you have to negotiate through a layer of utterly unmotivated, unhelpful and rude staff .....

The coffee is actually quite good here but on the last few visits, the service has got worse each time. They can’t seem to cope with any type of queue and literally stop servicing by wandering off to do anything else. The customer interaction, when you finally do get served, is pretty bad. I’ve been simply looked at without any interaction and on a separate occasion, told to “go and wait somewhere”. Finally, on a day where there was a small queue, I was told that there was currently a 15min wait for a takeaway coffee.

I was worried when this place expanded but I’ve been proved wrong. The biggest compliment I can say is that it feels like they expanded years ago rather than just a few months back. The whole place has a happy, vibrant and bustling atmosphere! The product speaks for itself, with delicious pastries and coffee. The staff are also funny, helpful and very friendly! My only complaint is trying to find a table! Well done Petit Prince Wimborne!

The man that served me with his checkered shirt, was the rudest person I’ve ever encountered. Didn’t smile and was blunt. I watched as I waited for my coffee and noticed he was the same with everyone else. None of them seemed to smile or look remotely happy to be working there. Last time I visited the atmosphere was completely different. The coffee I ordered was burnt and the milk had gone off. Used to recommend this place and left feeling uncomfortable.

Really disappointed. I've been looking forward to visiting a Petit Prince for a long time and was delighted when we first walked in. Service was just abysmal. Not sure if it was short staffing or lack of training or just 1 member of staff causing problems but there were lots of mistakes made and half our lunch didn't arrive with the rest. After being told everything would be brought to our table we waited in the queue again for sugar for our coffees to be told they were on the shelf behind us... Probably lack of observation on our part but surprised to not be sugar cubes instead of little paper sachets. Just a very deflating experience overall despite the food and coffee being quite delicious. Will probably return to Cloisters over the road instead.

First time here for a friends catch up and lunch, nice place and food nice. Only complaint is the waiting to get served, they seem to do everything from the one till, eating in and serving the shop! Not sure the wait is worth it, maybe they should look into this, I heard the next table mentioning similar especially as it appears the shop has doubled in size recently and they seemed to be frequent visitors.

What a fabulous place! Popped in spontaneously for breakfast as staying near Wimborne and enjoyed it so much we went back the next day. Spoilt for choice from the lovely the things on offer but finally decided on the Little Prince’s favourite breakfast ( bacon/ peanut butter toasted sandwich) , breakfast croissant ( ham, Emmental and basil) and Demi baguette with butter and jam which were all delicious. Great coffee and tea too. Loved the decor and we were only sorry we didn’t have a chance to sample the amazing cakes that were on offer. Would definitely go back again and recommend it to any friends who were visiting the area. If we lived nearby we would be there all the time!

I was however disappointed with the smoky unventalated interior, and felt I needed to change my clothes after leaving as all could smell was cooked bacon, I also noticed it to be dusty and in need of a good clean, and maybe some fresh paint, I get the shabby chic look but that doesn't mean not clean and I'm afraid I've been put off going back.

First time in this Wimborne outlet. Have been in the Westbourne one several times & always been impressed. However, the Wimborne outlet needs improvement. The inside is the same “shabby chic/mismatched tables & chairs” The bread & food is just as good. The main trouble is that the staff working didn’t have a clue what they were doing. Food & drinks were ordered at food counter. We waited & waited for sandwich, husband noted several ready at service counter, so after a while went up & spoke to the cook who indicated which was his & he took it back to table. Other people ended up doing the same !!! The sandwich was different to what he’d ordered but was what was written on his order. The final bizarre thing was that we’d asked for 1 takeaway sausage roll, somehow we were given 2. Food & drink good. But seriously the staff working Sunday didn’t have a clue what they were doing.

After an exciting wedding dress fitting my family dropped in for lunch. After seeing that there were no tables we asked the staff for anyway else nearby. Popping into two other cafes and having no luck, there was eventually space for us on a table at the back. The table barely sat four people but a spare two seater table was right next to it so we pushed them together. The table was right at the back in the corner and not in anyone’s way. I had an elderly member of my family with me as well who has mobility issues. Once sat down a staff member came up to us and we were rudely informed that the “furniture” is not allowed to be moved in the cafe and we had to move it back. We were all in absolute shock that we were not able to sit as a 6 together even though they knew from the beginning how many of us needed to be catered for. When asked why the two tables (practically next to each other any way) couldn’t be put together, we were simply told it was “management’s orders”. Another staff member came over and explained that they would have to access the shelf to the left (which had 6/7 reusable coffee flask which were clearly to be purchased) and the black board which was behind in case they needed to change the menu (keep in mind there was a bench across the entirety of that wall for customers to sit at and so there would have been no easy access for staff any way!). We got up to leave when they eventually allowed us to stay with the warning of them having to access these two areas (which of course they didn’t). A member of the party became physically upset by the interaction and were put off ordering any food. The food itself was very tasty but the customer service dampened the entire experience and we will not be passing by them any time soon. As someone who has spent time in the catering world, front of house staff can really make or break a place. Such a shame.

A friend & I (of a certain age) with my toddler Granddaughter visited this shop & purchased some cakes to take away. Good job we did because the young female shop assistants treated us with irritation & impatience. One of them informed us that the shop would be closing in 15 minutes & we could only have take away purchases. In our haste to be of no further inconvenience to them, we hurried out of the shop, negotiating the difficult doorway with a toddler & pushchair (whilst the assistants watched us struggle). Consequently we left behind the boxes of rather expensive cakes but did not realise this until we arrived at the car. My 80-year old friend had to return to retrieve them as I have mobility problems. It was a rather unfortunate end to our afternoon out & we shall not be returning there or to other branches. A smile & everyday common courtesy costs nothing but can be the making of a business.

Went for a light lunch today to Le Petit Prince. Beautiful facade with fresh bread and pastries as you walk in. Staff were warm and friendly and ordering was super easy and straightforward. We went for a New York sandwich which had thick cut pastrami, pickles, and melted Emmental with mustard. The other sandwich was Le Petit Prince Toastie with chorizo, bacon, tomatoes and pesto. The sandwiches were great, though the amount of mustard in the New York one was a little overpowering. The disappointing part was the homemade lemonade and lime. It tasted like water that had spent a week looking at a lemon from a distance. Thought the £2.30 price tag for it was a bit extortionate. Would recommend Le Petit Prince for lunch and will definitely be going back to pick up some bread.

Wildlife spotting includes Heron; Ducks; Brown Trout & (best of all - in my humble opinion) Otters!!Within the garden their own salad stuff & veg are grown to use in the menu.Very aware of the environment: Wooden furniture in the garden & no plastic in sight!! Very supportive of Wimborne Town, getting Highly Commended for the garden in its 1st year.SO WHY does the Council want to close the garden at the end of August ‘cos of their bizarre planning rules? Ridiculous if you ask me! Perfect quiet outside space to show off the Town’s beautiful clean river; show Wimborne off at its best during the Summer months when people luv alfresco dining. People will stay in Town longer & probably spend more pennies I could keep going but you’ll get bored: So go try out yourselves & support Wimborne Le Petit Prince. We have always enjoyed Le Petit Prince in Wimborne. As the inside seating is cramped and not very comfortable this has usually been as a take-away or a coffee sat outside on the pavement. It is so much better now that the back garden is open. Very pleasant comfy seating and a sun trap. No longer the need to take-away, we can now enjoy the pastries, cakes and coffee on the premises. The only down side is the access to the garden through the inside and the fact that that it is not very well sign posted.

Having lived in Westbourne for many years with Le Petit Prince there being an absolute favourite and ‘go to’ place we decided to pay the Wimborne one a visit in passing. The garden out the back is totally delightful and children are welcomed. Hours have clearly been poured in to it and they grow there own veggies etc. It’s a lovely place to sit and much easier if you have children. In walking into the cafe you pass the chef cooking - Becky I think. She was so lovely and welcoming and easy. We then had a lovely chat with the owner whilst sitting in the garden too and found out about the history of the place and about the garden she has created. We loved chatting to her. I can’t recommend the sandwiches highly enough - they are different and unique and really delicious. The sausage rolls and cakes are also yummy, as are the cinnamon rolls/swirls. My experience of this place is not at all like a couple of the reviews on here. We are huge fans and I will return again and again both to Wimborne and Westbourne. PLEASE come to Southbourne!

Had an excellent breakfast - croissants are always delicious and the coffee is great. Saw the new garden today and it looks great. Staff are always very friendly and service consistently good. A wonderful cafe with excellent products and the best croissants this side of France in my humble opinion!

visited this with family and friends. First two time was just for take out, the girls there did not want to great or actually smile, almost like everyone was a bother, apart from talking to others working. Third time was meeting my mother for coffee. We asked how to get to the garden when Rudely told that it’s round the back but don’t order unless you have a table and turned her back. We did find a table outside and I went inside to order. I work in customer service so was trying to be light hearted with the lady who took my order and she just could not of been more in bothered to speak to me, this just angered me. When our hot drinks were brought out to us, my mother needed sugar for her coffee. We asked and again told yeah it’s over on the stand on the side and off she walked. There was no sugar or actual spoons and had to ask a chef for some help while the two girls stood at the front. This is sadly our last time visiting the wimborne branch, I love to support small businesses, it’s really sad to see. The quality of food is dry as well, compared to another small bakery we go to a lot in pokesdown

Visited this cafe with my daughter a week last Wednesday, it was only because I had reviewed it on TripAdvisor and suggested meeting my daughter there as it sounded lovely with a garden overlooking the river. On arriving I asked the assistant was there a garden as it is not clearly marked, you just feel that you are walking into the kitchen. She was not particularly helpful but pointed and said yes there was. We took ourselves down an alleyway and arrived in a little garden. Found ourselves a table and my daughter went back inside to order coffee and cakes. When the girl brought them to our table, we asked for spoons and she pointed to a dresser, no teaspoons so she gave us dessert spoons, we then asked if there was any suger, again none, and she just pointed to a table with people sitting at it and said they had the suger, so we went and asked if it was OK to take the sugar. I wouldn't have minded if they were busy, but it was very quiet, the staff seemed completely disinterested, even on leaving, I said goodbye and thank you. And there were members of staff in the kitchen doing nothing. I think there is a lack of management, and there are so many good eateries in Wimborne with friendly staff who want to help. Shame really as the menu for sandwiches on the wall in the garden looked yummy.Talking to a friend this week, she had had the same experience, as was brought luke warm coffee, and when she asked for hot coffee they came back with the same coffee.Again completely disinterested.

I have always loved the Petit Prince for their fabulous bread/cakes and the best bacon and peanut butter sandwich but this week we sat in the garden and what a treat! So peaceful and beautifully tended. Such a brilliant use of the space surrounded by gorgeous flowers and their amazing veg beds.

Me and my friend visited here with our babies in 2 pushchairs and were made to feel like an inconvenience. The cafe was quiet so we could have been easily accommodated. We left immediately and went to a different cafe where we were made to feel very welcomed.

You’d normally have to cross the Channel to find a Boulanger & Master Patissier but there’s one on our doorstep at Le Petit Prince! Michael’s patisserie is divine and is the best by miles in Dorset. Now the garden is open you can enjoy freshly prepared food and excellent coffee by the riverside. What a wonderful place to spend some time & enjoy delicious food. The sourdough bread is superb & disappears by lunchtime so get in early so that you can enjoy it

We only popped in for a coffee but really liked this place. There is a lovely walled garden at the rear where you can relax with a view of the river. The food menu looked spot on so we will eat next time we visit.

I have been a regular visitor to Le Petit Prince (PP) for several years, mainly as a means of recovering the lost calories from my preceding visits to the gym. The ambience reflects the name. Taking its design roughly from Renee's cafe in 'Allo Allo', but short of the opportunity to play cards or Boules, this is a cafe with flair and a consistently good offering, mercifully protected from the singing of Edith Artois. The menu extends from the delicious and artistic patisserie, the artisan bakery and the quick and imaginative snacks, all of which are quite probably far too healthy at my age. All of this managed and presented by a pleasant and welcoming staff who can remember my name and order when I forget it.And now...Now, the premises have extended to a newly-worked garden eating venue, and a vegetable patch, in sight of the river. This is a green patch in the centre of the built environment of the town. All is under the close scrutiny of the Planning Department (Herr Flick?) to ensure that the change can be accepted by the citizens in the near locality. No sign of the Boules yet though. I always feel comfortable and welcome at PP. Perhaps I should take the whole place home.

Came in today for a coffee and breakfast, chose Petit Prince as the garden had just opened and the sun was shining! Was not disappointed at all! So lovely to be able to sit outside and have a coffee, quite a rarity for Wimborne! Garden was beautiful, coffee delicious, staff friendly and welcoming, what’s not to love!

If you want bread that is better than usually supermarket offering then this is the place to go. If you want coffee and breakfast, or a snack then this is also above average, albeit a bit short of space

Came here for coffee and a sandwich today with my mum. The ladies serving were blunt and unfriendly as soon as we spoke to them. The lady we spoke to at the till made us feel in a rush to place an order as I tried to read the menu above on the wall. We ordered our drinks in a rush and then I decided I wanted to change my hot chai latte into an iced chai latte 2mins after sitting down. My mum asked for me and received a blunt no as it was already done. I obliged as it was ready, tasted it to find it only just warm and with so little taste of the spices it tasted like soap. By this time with only being in the shop for 15mins we felt so uncomfortable I didn’t want tcomplain as I didn’t think it would be receivedwell, and it wasn’t. I asked if I could have a cappuccino instead as this drink wasn’t very warm and didn’t taste nice. The lady then pushed me to tell her why it didn’t taste right, I told her it reminded me of dish soap. She then took the drink and turned away to the coffee machine. When the cappuccino arrived it was in a small cup and did not fit the criteria of a cappuccino as there was barely any foamed milk and again not hot. I didn’t want to ask again as we already felt unwelcome enough. The positives: lovely decor and appearance, delicious smell of fresh bread when you walk in, reasonable prices, and The ‘Petit Prince Toastie’ was delicious! The staff need some training on customer service and how to deal with customer complaints.

The Petit Prince in Wimborne is the place for coffee, not bitter like a lot of coffee outlets. Pleasant staff. Pavement seating on a sunny day is a bonus. Tried the Lemon Provencale bread last week, excellent. Makes brilliant flavoured toast.

Came across this little cafe whilst looking for a snack lunch. The window looked interesting with lots of lovely rustic bread. A lovely smiley waitress took our order. We chose soup which was delicious with generous chunks of crusty bread. The coffee was piping hot. We will definately be returning.

My daughter and I recently went to the Petit Prince for a light lunch. I had quiche and my daughter a variety of sandwich, both served with a nice fresh salad, which we both enjoyed. Afterwards I went to the counter to pay and when I returned to the table to collect my coat and bags two other customers were already taking over our table, and we felt almost pushed out. We were then asked on our way out if we had paid, by the waitress who two minutes before had taken my money, and although she quickly remembered it rather spoilt, what had been up till then, a nice experience.

Waitress took our order then dashed over to 4 people who arrived after us who were clearly family. Took their order chatted away with them. Sorted their drinks, their food arrived she joined them. While we waited and waited. Another waitress came over and asked if we wanted to order, I said we already had and said the waitress sitting with her family had taken our order. The second waitress apologised and said it hadn't been put on system so we had to reorder. Shame as good food but disinterested young staff.

This place is always busy, a good sign of a good cup of coffee, well made. The bread is also good (but eat quickly, it does not keep). They do great little amaretto biscuits for a quick bite and the food is generous and cooked to order.

Called in on a Monday afternoon and found a table right by the service counter. The sign says that they offer table service so we waited and waited and waited and waited. There were two staff serving but they were behind the counter sorting out crockery but didn’t acknowledge our presence. A man went to the counter to pay his bill so they served him.A woman came in and went to the counter to get something to take away and they served her. They didn’t even say anything like ‘we will be with you in a minute’ they just basically ignored us so we left.I don’t understand how this place has such good reviews and I equally can’t understand when someone walks into a cafe that if you don’t even acknowledge their presence or value the business they bring that this is a long term strategy for the business to survive. They must be operating on the leaking bucket philosophy that there is enough business pouring in the top that it doesn’t matter what falls out the bottom.Won’t ever bother to go back as there are plenty of other places willing to serve. Went to cafe Aroma instead and the service was excellent and the staff enthusiastic and grateful for our business, after all it is customers who pay their wages!

Popped in on a wet day and received a friendly welcome and the lady behind the counter said she'd bring my coffee over. It was pretty full but I quite like sharing a communal table and there was a trestle type table available. The cakes and sandwiches look stunning but I refrained (trying to be good)! The coffee was lovely and smooth and very hot. Although it was busy it was relaxing and if I hadn't;t a long cycle ride ahead of me I'd have stayed longer. Toilets are lovely and clean but mind your bum! There's a big crack on the loo seat... When you go to the loo make sure you follow the arrows or you might end up in a strange and wonderful mythical land!!!

Not the correct food bought to table, when queried, the waiter was rather rude and said he was 'only the messenger! Correct food came later no apologies from him. Later, went to use the toilets, now porter loos. Filthy, we left and found another place we were able to use!!
