Had an enjoyable lunch on day visit to Ilkley. Staff cheerful and pleasant

Lovely restaurant serving modern bistro food. Bright and open dining area. The staff were friendly and efficient. Good selection on the menu, some vegetarian options.

Having decided on the day to go out for food, and without a reservation, we managed to walk in and be seated straight away in the dining room. I visited with DH for a Sunday lunch which was priced at £16.95 for a choice of half a roast chicken, roast beef, pork medallions or a vegetarian option (I cannot remember exactly what it was). Both meals came stacked with a large Yorkshire pudding on the top, underneath there were roasted potatoes, carrots and tender stem broccoli and a small amount of red wine gravy. I had to ask for extra gravy as the Yorkshire pudding was completely dry. We didn't have to wait too long for the food to arrive and I must say I thoroughly enjoyed my juicy roast chicken. DH had asked if the roast beef was served rare, and if so, could the waitress ask for his to be more on the well done side. This was no problem and he received several thick slices with a very small amount of fat attached. The waitress brought a little jug of regular gravy which we shared. We had a glass of lime and soda each with ice. We were not charged for the extra gravy, even though the menu stated you could purchase a Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes or gravy for an extra charge of £1 per item. When we received the bill it came with a 10% service charge already applied. It was just over £40 for the meal. Highly recommended was very tasty and good quality food.

When visiting the bistro, the first thing you will be greeted with is a sign, saying “we do not accept American Express”. Somebody may then shuffle over and ask if they can help you and then unenthusiastically show you to your seat. We had a reservation for 6 o’clock and were served our main meal at 7:30 pm. The restaurant was not busy. Every time we wanted a drink or some water, we had to either go up to the bar or call somebody over to take an order. Not once did anyone come to see if there was anything we might need. We would’ve stayed and had a third course, but had to wait so long for the very simple two main courses we decided we couldn’t be bothered. When we came to pay the young manager, didn’t ask if We had enjoyed our evening. The restaurant wasn’t that busy, we were ignored during the meal during which the green haired waitress and the male Manager dried cutlery noisily at the back of the restaurant! Unprofessional, very average food and expensive drinks. If the staff had been a bit more alive we would have overlooked the delay but they just weren’t interested. Buck your ideas up Bistot Pierre your staff are rude and a disgrace to the establishment. We will not be back nor will we recommend the restaurant. We encourage diners to go to one of the other hostelries Ilkley has to offer or if you have time to travel The Sportsman’s Arms at Wath is outstanding!

We popped in for lunch and was very impressed with the quality of the food that was a lunchtime special. I had a salmon and cod fishcake which was nicely presented with a poached egg on top and husband had a cottage pie. We decided to go back the following evening for dinner. Husband had a burger which he said was the best burger he ever had and I had a risotto which had so many flavours which complimented each other. The creme brulee was absolutely delicious too. Compliments to Mario the chef for the beautiful food and to James who was very professional and made our visit a memorable occasion.

Food was really good, flavoursome and value for money. Cost of drinks was ridiculous and twice the cost of pub prices. When I questioned the price of the drinks the reply was ‘we don’t price the drinks mate’!! The female staff were helpful and polite. The male, not sure if he was the manager was unprofessional and a little arrogant and aggressive. We have eaten at Pierre’s several times and always enjoyed the food and the service but this is the last time we will set foot in the place due to the attitude of said staff member.

Nice meal, good selection, service good. Usually have tables available. I think that the mushroom starter has been modified and is not as good as it used to be.

Attached to the Alexander Hotel in Central Ilkley this bistro offers fine French food in relaxing surroundings with lots of special offers. Open all day inc lunch. Handy for shops, public transport and local walks and attractions. Public car park nearby

Stopped for a lead up to Christmas meal with my parents. The food was of a very high standard at a very reasonable price. The gentleman that served us was very pleasant and professional. I would definitely recommend and I would love to visit again. I haven't rated the rooms because I've never seen them 🙂

Excellent flavours and beautifully presented food. The service was a little slow and even though we called to confirm earlier in the day, they couldn't find our booking. They did find a table for us in the end though.

I have just popped into this restaurant for a quick breakfast. I ordered Eggs Royale. The Hollandaise sauce was enough to sink a battleship and was stone cold, thus making the eggs similarly cold. The "brioche" was also stone cold, so the taste and experience was awful. It is a long time since I have visited this restaurant and now I realise why. Back then I ordered Eggs Benedict and the eggs arrived scrambled. When I notified the waitress that the eggs should have been poached, she went to ask the chef, and came back and told me that "no they should be scrambled!" Really. The only positive was that when I mentioned how awful the food was, the cost was deducted from my bill!!

French bistro value for money on classic dishes!

We went for Brunch this morning. Good service, great breakfast. The only disappointment was the Greek Yogurt and granola with fruit posset. It was more like granola with a teaspoon of yogurt at the bottom. Very disappointed. I did ask for more yogurt and I was given a bowl full. Pity it wasn't right to start with.

Only used the excellent restaurant.

Our noon meal was excellent. We had the Bread Board for a starter and the Coq au Vin and the Moroccan Vegetable Tagine as our meal. Service was friendly and quick. The entire staff helped with all customers and gave attentive service to all. We will return!

As an aspiring member of Club Bistrot Pierre, it was my great pleasure to travel 200 miles from London to BP Ilkley. We stayed in the Hotel and dined in the restaurant at every conceivable opportunity. There are those who say fine French cuisine is difficult to find in West Yorkshire, but an exception is in Ilkley. Merci, merci beaucoup

Went to the Bistro today with friends for a meal. The Waiter ( I presume) was very rude to me about my Garlic intolerance! He stated why come to a French Restaurant when you can't eat garlic!! Good luck on that one with our Menu!! I didn't reply as I was embarrassed and didn't want to upset my friends who had recommended here! All i actually wanted to do was leave!!! Then when I got home we'd been overcharged!!! Luckily my friend has sorted that out for us. I for one will NEVER return. If you want to be insulted obviously it's the in place to go!!! 🤣🤣🤣

A junior member of staff was left struggling, unsupervised and unsupported behind the bar with awful quality drinks being poured and left by customers, us icluded. The staff member was as helpful as possible. We watched 4 people leave due to no stock of drinks. We were going to book to eat the following night, as the bar area is dog friendly, but will definitely not return.

Good kids menu, good beers, good service.

Great food with good service. We received good recommendations from the front of house about food menu to order. We enjoyed the food and definitely come back again.

Service was so slow and all 3 staff were rude and miserable. Not a good first impression. 1 member spent the whole time cleaning tables but everywhere else (windowsills) were very very dusty! We were left waiting at the door, the waitress walkes straight past us 3 times. Other diners (2 parties) had to walk away from their tables to find staff to get a top up of their drinks or ask for the bill. Food was satisfactory. Hair on plate. Barely any bacon as most of it was fat. Hollandaise sauce on Eggs Royale was sour. Just as we were leaving, all 3 staff were sitting chatting at a table when people still needed serving. We visited Sat 8th July 2023 at 10.45 until 11.30 Would never visit again

Been for food not for the hotel. Lovely place for food, been a few times and it's never disappointed. When we've been it's not really busy, I feel people miss this within the town. Great food and not expensive.

Lamp shank was tough and virtually inedible, staff did not ask if we enjoyed meal I wonder why? Although our other dishes were ok. Not the standard I expect of one of my favourite restaurants

Me and my daughter went for afternoon tea and then a few cocktails in the bar 2 for £12 really well made cocktails. The food was amazing staff friendly and professional. Will definitely be back next time with my husband xx Thankyou for a very enjoyable afternoon

Warm welcome. Magnificent menu. Sauvignon blanc and Ilkley Brewery Joshua Jane bitter. Messiuers et mesdames c'est magnifique. Reyt magnifique. Turned out to be one of the Menu Gastronomique evenings - what a revelation! Perfect meal and perfect pints. Merci beaucoup.

Called in yesterday with the wife after a local hike so not dressed the best but no one cared and the service was lovely as was the food defo will return

Good spot. Good pub next door. Nice and simple with a good service.

Good service by helpful staff, especially when the later train to Ilkley delayed us. We all 3 enjoyed our varied selections from the menu. Very good value Dine for £10 each offer in January, Monday to Friday & a bottle of Cuvee 94 for £15. The Crescent Hotel is an impressive building in the centre of Ilkley. Bistrot Pierre is on the ground floor. Very busy on the Friday afternoon.

Lovely French bistro in one of the most amazing historical buildings in Ilkley. Friendly service and great food.

Nice Christmas menu. Mushroom Starter and Boeuf Bourguinon, delightful. However the dessert was truly disappointing. I pre ordered the Ice Cream Selection and was sorry to find out there were only two scoops of very cheap tasting ice cream and sorbet. A let down, frankly.

Didn't visit the restaurant but did visit the bar, what a huge disappointment that was, the guys behind the bar, when they weren't sitting with their friends, had as much charisma as a Brussel Sprout, my friends and I felt like an inconvenience in wanting to drink in their pub as we were interrupting their time with friends, god help them in January.

Went for breakfast this morning. Lovely as always - had the eggs Benedict and friend had full English. Have had dinner here on a couple of occasions too and will definitely keep coming back.

Fantastic food, went for 3 course fixed price menu for £23, superb value. Everything delicious and came out quick. Staff very attentive. Shame we don't live in the area as would be back more often as we miss pierres in Harrogate.

I would say I gave this 2 stars only because some of younger staff are very polite and helpful. I had only just come back to this restaurant after one or two more vegetarian options as the last menu was poor. Today I was left disappointed. We ordered drinks and then ordered food 5 mins later. By the time our starter came we still had not received our drinks and with the soup starter it took a few minutes for the bread to come meaning we had already started our food. Upon getting our main there were four of us, two plates came hot and two of others came quite cold. We sent it back and by time it came back the other two in the party were half way through meal. I ordered the treacle sponge and I would say mine tasted quite burnt. When our plates were collected we expressed that the meal was not great and got no real recognition of our disappointment. When the bill came not only had they not offered any reduction they also added a staff tip ‘reportedly automatic’. We paid for the meal but did not feel additional cost reflect experience so that was not paid. I am a regular so I hope things will improve but I won’t rush back.

Great food. It wasn't busy when I was there - but I told that almost all the tables were reserved.

Tasty stylish food and the lunch specials are great value too!

We waited 25 minutes for our starters then were told that the waitress had forgotten to press "Send" on the online ordering system! So it was 50 minutes before we ate. If we hadn't drawn it to her attention we would still be waiting... The food was delicious when it arrived. I expected the wait staff to offer more by way of compensation for spoiling a special birthday occasion (3 out of 5 of us received a free drink whilst waiting and nothing else was said) and was dismayed to see them sweeping up around people still seated. All in all a disappointing evening and not what we had expected.

First time I'd been and I must say the food was lovely. I enjoyed every bit of it. The service was great. The atmosphere was quiet but it was through the day I went. So can't complain. Only thing I don't like is how they are now adding a service charge onto the bill which is optional but some people may not read the small print to know this. Seems alot of places are doing it. Definitely worth a visit if you like good food and to treat yourself once in a while.

Arrived very early for lunch so had coffee in the restaurant before the 3 course lunch. Good bistro type of food, nicely presented, very tasty and good value especially considering it included a large glass of a very pleasant house wine. The service was excellent, young Zach extremely helpful, the maitre d' was first class. A very good choice for a simple lunch in lovely surroundings.

Dining at the Bistrot Pierre was a very pleasant experience with its colourful decor, friendly staff and laid back atmosphere. My roast pork dinner was attractively presented and tasted delectable, I highly recommend the Bistrot Pierre as being one of the finest restaurants in Wharfedale.

Sunday roast was perfect. Pot au chocolate was the bomb 😋 service great. Definitely coming back.

Very quiet as well disorganized, only ordered two coffees which came lukewarm after quite a long wait. Second time visiting one good and one not so good. Won't be going back as there are better options in town.

Always loved this restaurant! Unfortunately my recent visit was slightly disappointing as the portion sizes were noticeably smaller but the same price. Great staff and service and lovely setting/ atmosphere.

The food is good, however, the portion size is tiny! I could have eaten my meal about 4 times over it was so small. Sadly, for the price of the food, I don't think its worth the money to come back to not feel like you've had a meal.

Fabulous lunch at Bistrot Pierre. We chose from the Prix Fixe Menu which is amazing value. The food and service were excellent! Would highly recommend.

Pleasant staff and excellent late lunch

Lovely Breakfast experience with delicious food & friendly staff. We called day ahead to enquire about accessibility for father with zimmer & made reservations for 10am. Breakfast is served until 11. There is nice outdoor seating available. It was a very quiet time on the Wednesday we visited. Perfect for our family to eat and chat. 70-80s music was fun to hear as background. The decor is lovely, very comfortable and had a relaxing feel. Menu was perfect size & all were easily satisfied with Full English, hot drink & juice included. Eggs Benedict was scrumptious. Brioche w Bacon piled high pleased both boys. Cappuccino & Hot chocolate were just right. Staff helped set up a loyalty card whilst settling the bill for future dining. The toilets are down in basement level - clean and well maintained with luxurious hand soap & luxury loo roll - Quite impressed. It is a sign that this establishment & management shows highest respect to their customers. Look forward to trying another meal & an overnight in the hotel in the future.

Without a doubt the best 3 course meal I have ever had, fresh, perfect portion size, well presented, very good menu and super tasty, everything done to perfection. Would highly recommended to everyone.

The wife and I visited last night. Excellent service and beautifully cooked food! Will definitely be back! Ham and cheese croquettes to start and then I had the fillet steak (medium rare) with truffle frites. Beautifully cooked and tasted wonderful. The peppercorn and brandy sauce was a nice accompaniment to the meat but wasn’t needed as the meat tasted that good on its own. Nice to find another local spot for a decent cooked piece of meat!

We had lunch at Pierre’s as we do frequently on a Saturday afternoon the food wasn’t quite as good as usual but we were all quite happy with our chosen dishes. The service however was quite bad, our young waitress really didn’t want to be there and made it quite obvious that it was took much trouble to wait on us, there was no sign of an acting manager so the staff stood around avoiding work, I won’t go into detail but it was bad! I think we will find somewhere else to eat in future which is a shame.

We were booked on a Tuesday evening, which turned out to be gastro night. Food was great, six courses for £25, fantastic value, but I think the kitchen and staff were a bit overwhelmed by the number of diners. Had a long wait for dinner, but staff did their best and were friendly and helpful. Would have given more stars if there had been a couple of extra staff on duty...

Steak frite was done perfectly, but it was the crème brûlée which really stole the show; absolutely stunning! Starters were very tasty too, everything beautifully presented and service excellent, definitely recommended, especially with the prix fixe offering excellent value for money.

Great service, lovely meals, not too busy.

We ate here regularly - the food is good and there was a decent selection for everyone (even the fussy eaters in the family). Recently the service has declined massively, this was our third bad experience. Despite the restaurant being VERY quiet and there being 3 staff front of house, service was slow, Items missed, we had to call waiters over to take drinks/ food order and had to repeatedly ask for condiments and other items and then wait and wait some more! It was painful and quite embarrassing. The staff working were just stood around talking and laughing and missed any cues you’d expect from restaurant staff. Sadly it will be our last visit - even some of the food was disappointing- the peas in the kids meals were still frozen and then. returned after being microwaved and placed in front of a 3 year old scolding hot - the same with the kids desserts - with no regard for safety. The coffee was vile. It’s such a shame - we will find an alternative for our family meals.

Food is good but service extremely poor, and slow, despite the restaurant being almost completely empty. Staff can be seen stood around chatting instead of doing their job, everything just took forever, orders taken incorrectly, and waiters and manager either took ages or completely forgot to deal with our very simple requests. Disappointing as we used to come every Sunday, now we hardly ever come and probably won’t ever come again after yesterdays experience.

Lovely place, food & prices very reasonable. Only given 4 stars as there was something not right, maybe it was just that it was empty. Sure we will return - their cream tea looks fantastic but you need to order ahead.

Good for evening dining. Not quite as impressed by the breakfast - the food was OK, but they repeatedly got my order order wrong.

Sadly, Ilkley’s Bistro Pierre has gone downhill since new management has taken over. We visited yesterday with a party of 9. We were seated with menus then immediately forgotten about, drinks had to be requested, as did the initial food order, I had to request our plates to be cleared & I then requested the desert menu, then only 1 desert menu was presented for 9 customers. Finally, the bill was incorrect, the £50 deposit I had paid had not been deducted and I had been charged for the lamb that I had ordered but was later notified was actually ‘not available’. This was my Mum’s 80th birthday dinner, she chose the steak frites, her preference for years, it was so gristly she couldn’t cut through it. However, my food, when it arrived, was delicious, despite being given the incorrect cutlery. It was primarily the service that was diabolical. Throughout the evening we were served by a variety of what appeared to be high school students, clearly none of which had been trained in their roles. I’m sure these young people did their best but BP either need to review their staff training, review their employment strategy or hire a new manager, because something isn’t working there. Disappointing.

Service slow,disorganised and haphazard. Had to keep finding staff for menus and to take our orders. Then to ask when we would be served. Finally chasing so.eone for the bill which when it arrived was incorrect. The whole experience lasted two and a half hours,6pm to 8.3o pm.

Visiting Ilkley for the first time and settled on Bistrot Pierre for lunch - good choice. Excellent kitchen and despite limited taps, their ales are very good. Special thanks to the staff. Despite appearing to be short staffed, the front of house folks are very efficient and there was no undue waiting or delays in my service. Recommended.
