Booked at short notice for dinner. Was busy when we arrived but food was quick to arrive. I had the onion Bhaji as a starter and was probably the best I’ve ever had. The curry sauce was so nice I had some more on my main course which was the pie. My wife had the steak which was a little over cooked for her liking but she was offered a replacement straight away. Food was lovely, service was excellent and the owner is lovely. Been before and will definitely be going again.

Cant keep away, we went on Thursday and had a delightful meal yet again. I had the biggest Barnsley chop ever (confess I took some of it home and had it in a sandwich later) Hubbie had lovely home made soup and the steak pie which had crumbly pastry and lots of filling. Succumbed to the treacle pudding Oh heaven! The wine is very reasonably priced and the service is always excellent.

I’m not usually a Tripadvisor user but felt I needed to leave my feedback as I was very pleasantly surprised when I ate here with 5 of my friends for my birthday which my girlfriend booked as a surprise. Many of us opted for the Barnsley chop which was the best iv had, my girlfriend isn’t keen on meat straight off the bone so after asking a waitress the chef was more than happy to take it off the bone for her. One of our friends is fussy too and wanted Jacket potato with her sirloin steak and again it wasn’t a problem. Wasn’t going to have desserts as we felt ready to bust but the manager/owner said we could take our time in deciding so after another pint or so we felt like we could squeeze another course in and I’m so happy we did because the chocolate brownie was amazing!! Couldn’t make my mind up between custard or ice cream with it so I told the waitress to make a choice for me and to my surprise she fetched a brownie with both custard AND ice cream which I thought was such a nice thing to do…. Even got a little candle in and the staff sang happy birthday to me which iv heard is a popular thing at le bistro and as embarrassed as I was it was still a nice little touch. Overall great little find, beautiful food, friendly and helpful staff…. A lovely night spent with good friends and good food

Menu choice was very limited and fixed a £30 for Saturday nights. Way over priced for what you got. Meat selection for starter was such a small portion and the cheese was a slither. The portion of desert which anywhere else we would have shared was so small you would never have been able to share. We ordered a bottle of wine and it was just plonked on the table. No pouring a little for you to taste. Very, very disappointing. The chairs are so uncomfortable. The whole experience which cost us over £80 was poor. Definitely would not return and would not recommend. The staff just didn’t feel like they wanted to be there. The veg dish that was served with each meal contained one potato.

Visited here on a Saturday night, positives first - plenty of staff and warm welcome. Set menu was £30pp which is rather expensive for what you get. Ordered the king prawn starter, duck for main and choc orange fudge cake for dessert. Unfortunately the prawns hadn't been cleaned and its fine if it's the old one thats been missed by mistake, but not all four. It seemed that this dish wasn't prepared properly. I informed the lovely waitress and she was v apologetic. The main - duck with one piece of pak choi came with the standard small side order of vegetables-come on chef, cauliflower cheese and New potatoes served with a Chinese dish? The dessert was nice. Some tables were very squashed together and I was very surprised and I think the other customers too, to be told wine wasn't served by the glass. Had to wave at the waiting staff twice to ask for drinks too. Over the years I've dined here a few times but I think it's stuck in a time warp and not in a good way. So unfortunately I won't be returning due to the lack of attention to detail.

I'm a barnsley girl and this place has always had a fantastic reputation yet this is my first visit. I was keen to take my partner and family for his birthday and eager to finally try our local speciality the Barnsley chop. We made our order and fully appreciated the change in service due to covid-19 restrictions. The starter was good and I eagerly waited for my lamb. Unfortunately I was presented with a rack of lamb instead, but it was a huge piece of meat and i must have looked perplexed as to how I was going to tackle it. The waitress asked if I wanted it taking off the bone and I said yes please. Unfortunately, again, it came back to me in bite sized pieces and I was even more disappointed, I'm 58 not 6.The whole meal tasted divine and I thought was fairly good value but the shine was taken off my night. I probably wouldn't return as we have so many fabulous restaurants in our area and I'll be trying those out.

I am writing a review having submitted a complaint and not even getting a response from the restaurant !! .......Party of 15 Sunday lunch. It all started going wrong immediately some of the party arrived a little early at 2.15pm to bring in a cake as a surprise and were told that the booking was for 2.30pm so they were not allowed in ! So they went back out and sat in the car until 2.30 when the majority of the party arrived. We all entered the restaurant to be told that there was a delay due to them having a power cut , and we may be waiting 10 mins or so. This in itself was a farce as there is nowhere to wait at all and there were people trying to leave and squeeze past us in the entrance hall. The lady in charge was quite curt with us asking us to move etc. as if we shouldn’t be standing there. The alternative would have been standing outside on a chilly rainy January afternoon !!We eventually were seated at around 2.55pm with a half unset table and chairs missing at some of the place settings. Just as we sat down the remaining 2 of our party arrived who had been caught in traffic. We had pre ordered the food and the starters came out around 3.30pm as ordered and were fine( if a little late !) We then waited until around 4.20pm for the main courses to arrive. Most of these were very disappointing and my nephews lamb dish was fatty, tough and also very small sized as were most of the meals. See photo attached ) The pies were around 3 inches square ! The Yorkshire puddings were burnt and appeared to have been kept warm for a couple of hours and the roast potatoes and vegetables were very bland. The gravy didn’t taste home made either. We did eat the meals as we were all very hungry. My niece went to the lady who appeared to be in charge or the maitre d and told her that we were very disappointed especially with being out for my 60th birthday and wanting it to be a special day for me. The lady came into the restaurant where we were sitting and I can only describe her as rude as she proceeded to say “this lady has just told me you are all unhappy with your meals but you all appear to have eaten them “ ! My nephew said “we were all hungry but doesn’t mean we enjoyed it just because we have eaten it !” She said we should have asked for alternatives at which point my niece commented that we had waited so long we didn’t want to wait any longer. The lady then said “ well 2 of you didn’t even arrive on time “ ! I was unbelievably shocked by this and I said “ to be fair we had literally just got seated as they arrived “. I just think the customer service was atrocious and we proceeded to tell her that. She did say “ I’ll sort something for you” and did bring out a bottle of Prosecco. We ordered desserts and they were ok. When we came to pay the bill you had knocked the price down to £10.95per head which was less than the advertised £18.95 so we did appreciate that and I told the lady that. I just think that the whole experience is one that I won’t forget and for the wrong reasons. I don’t know whether the problems we encountered were due to the earlier power cut, the fact that we were on a late sitting ....or for whatever reason but I think we would have been able to cope with it all better had the lady not been so rude. Whatever happened to treating the customers right ? Two stars have been given due to the complimentary bottle of prosecco and reduction in price but the food and service alone would have been one star.

We visited this friendly little restaurant at the suggestion of friends. The six of us enjoyed a lovely evening. We ate from the menu of three courses for £30.... and it was really good value. The men each had the Barnsley Chop and we ladies all had different meals, ranging from fish to steak and chicken. Each one was a generous portion, piping hot and excellent quality food. The serving staff were polite and efficient. The Maitre D did her job brilliantly - attentive without being intrusive. The place was full, some couples, some families, some groups of friends, so a good mix of clientele, nobody rushed us and we felt welcome and valued as customers. The atmosphere was buzzing but not noisy. The menu was classic and not fancy or pretentious, which suited us all perfectly. All in all a lovely night with friends. The only thing I wasn’t keen on was the plastic table cloths, but they’re really understandable from a business point of view..... less laundry means you can keep your costs down, which in turn keeps your customers coming through the door. We’re already planning a return, soon.

A party of 14 of us visited Le Bistro in Wentworth on Saturday 14th December at 9pm for our Christmas meal. The food was lovely, but the service was diabolical. Our party arrived at 8.50 pm to be advised our table would not be ready for around 20 minutes, so we waited by the door and the staff advised us we could not purchase a drink until we were seated. Half an hour later we seated at our table, which was laid out with a table at each, therefore, we were not sat opposite our spouse. A further 20 minutes passed and we had to ask for someone to take our drinks orders. The starters arrived prior to our drinks. The staff were run off their feet and the service was absolutely shocking. I would never return to Le Bistro as a large party, as they are clearly not used to dealing with large parties. However, on the plus side, the food was delicious.

i live and work in the village , and it takes me a lot of bad service to write a review like this- we had friends from plymouth up tonight and as we had such a nice experience last time they came to see us, we booked again in our local bistro, 5 mins walk away from our house. The food was lovely, but the 2 people who served us were horrendous - the man with the blond hair and beard was dreadful, asked for a drinks order then walked away half way through the order, and the waitress with dark hair who served us last, never spoke or acknowledged us or our order , just wrote it down and walked away!! dreadful dreadful service - i won't be back ever again, and i won't recommend rude disrespectful service . I'm sorry but juveniles like those should not be employed . i will will wait for the new restaurant in the garden centre , or stick to my local george and dragon in future - le bistro , you have a problem with rubbish staff, you need to sort this , as its going to harm you

Quaint little village is Wentworth. Not the cheapest! But we’ll worth it. And the Bistro. If you can book in your lucky. Why? It’s so popular. Food is amazing. Set 1. 2. Or 3 course menu. And so are the staff. The lady owner. Oops I’ve forgotten her name . She is an amazing owner.

We were booked in at 7pm for a surprise 60th Birthday meal and the atmosphere was lovely; most of us ordered from the Summer set menu (three courses for £16.95) and the food was absolutely delicious - hot, tasty and for a big party, served quickly. The owners were very accommodating, even setting out tables outside for us all to sit together for an after-dinner drink in the evening warmth. My Auntie had a gorgeous birthday get together - thank you Le Bistro - we'll be back soon!

I went here with my partner on a Friday evening. We booked for 8.30 pm . On arrival there was just 1 table of 4 in there fi using there desserts. The food was well cooked and tasty as always unfortunately there was absolutely no atmosphere and we felt very rushed. From entering at 8.30pm we had finished our meal and paid by 9.10pm. Felt as if we they just wanted us to out of the place!

Had lunch with a party of friends this week. The menu is very varied and there is an excellent choice. Between us, we had six different items from the menu and no-one was disappointed. The service was excellent and the atmosphere is really relaxing. Because the weather was so nice, we asked if we could have coffee in the garden and a large table was set up for us. Lovely, friendly staff. Definitely will be visiting again.

Two main meals of pork loin. At the start of the meal we were asked if everything was ok by the owner. At that point it was. But I was unable to eat all the loin as it was a mass of stringy sinew at 3/4 way through.

I have already written a Review for Le Bistro, and I have to say it was not particularly good, but after reading recent reviews, which were positive we decided to give it another go. Unfortunately once again our experience was poor. The seating was very cramped, my Husband had to stand up and remove his chair from the table every time I needed to leave My mains option which was Mushroom and Spinach Ravioli, was missed by the Chef, so I had to wait for it to be served ( the Waitress did offer to take everyone's meal back and serve it when mine was ready but they were already eating and I did not want them to have to stop and wait for me). When my meal arrived I was not at all impressed, the Ravioli to me tasted shop bought and there was no Spinach, in the dish at all. My Father In Law, ordered Roast lamb, which he found to be difficult to eat as it was mainly fat and gristle. In their defense my Husband also ordered Lamb, and he did enjoy his. We ordered Cheesecake for dessert which was still frozen. In my opinion the Restaurants main aim was to serve as many meals as possible to tables which were so cramped, If the meals were cooked well I would accept that due to the fact that it was Easter Sunday, but the quality of the food was very poor, so in my mind inexcusable. When we were leaving people were queuing outside waiting to be seated, I am amazed so many people want to eat somewhere where the food is poor and the seating is so uncomfortable.

Went to Le Bistro with my mum and her best friend Jane whilst I was back from Australia visiting family. We had the 3 courses for the price of 2 lunch. The food was amazing and the chef even made me a special crumble even though it wasn't on the menu that day as I really wanted a yummy crumble before I headed back to Australia. It was amazing! A wonderful place with great service. Highly recommended.

Not an extensive menu but more interesting than most places. The evening was fairly quiet but can get a little cramped when busy. The music volume was perfect playing an unobtrusive collection of songs. The greeting, politeness and efficiency of the staff was exceptional. My starter of fishcake and sauce was delicious, followed by an equally impressive pork loin in pepper sauce. Potatoes and vegetables were fine. My complementary dessert of cheesecake was tasty, although the base was a little soggy for my taste. A good choice of reasonably priced wines were available. The meal was rounded off with tea and coffee (not quite as hot as my partner would have liked). The portion sizes were ideal for three courses although we did need a short break between main and dessert. Not a crumb was left on either of our plates after our meals.

After promising ourselves to go here for sometime we finally booked. First impression was that it smelled like a butchers & was cold. Disappointing single vegetarian option on the main set menu but they did offer others that were equally disappointing. We both ordered the cheese & tomato tart. This was good but the side salad was thrown on, cheap iceburge lettuce & rock hard tomatoes straight from fridge. The balsamic dressing should be less as it overpowered everything. Soup was standard, sorbet was shop bought. I had duck breast with plum sauce & ginger with a cooked to death piece of pak Choi. The sides of cauliflower, broccoli, potatoes & carrots did not go with this dish. I expected Asian greens but I should have asked as I would’ve chosen something else. The poached salmon was overpowered by the gallon of cheese sauce & side service of veg tasteless. Sticky toffee pudding resembled the dome shape you can readily buy from shops/wholesalers. Brownie & ice cream OK. Overall it’s not worth the money & will not be returning or recommending.

We ordered fishcake & cranberry Wensleydale tart, Fishcake was a bit stodgy, not up to usual high standard. tart delicous . Sorbet was a good palate cleanser. Pork fillet was tender, mustard mash a bit dry. Chicken with prawns ok, but sauce a bit claggy.

Went for lunch today with my wife, daughter and son in law. The waiting staff were good, but the food was very disappointing. The soup starter was really nice to be fair, the main course of poached haddock was not available, so I had cod and chips instead. The fish was possibly the worst I have ever had, even from takeaways. The batter was well and truly cooked, being dark brown and one end of the fish seemed OK. However, when I opened it up I was faced with grey meat that was soaked in oil or water or both, which formed a sort of sludge. I stopped eating at this point. The mushy peas were stodgy and were also left. The chips ( I am not a fan of fat chips), tasted of nothing and most were also left. My daughter had chicken, which she reported later was very dry. The sticky toffee pudding was a major disappointment for both my wife and daughter, and the lemon tart I had for dessert was distinctly average, and definitely resembled a bought in product. We have enjoyed good meals at Le Bistro before, so either the chef has changed or he/she has become completely demoralized with the job. Fortunately, we know of several local eateries that do consistently better than this so we will be giving Le Bistro a miss for the foreseeable future. I'm not big on complaining but I mentioned the problems with the fish to the waiter (the amount of food left also told its own story), but nobody came to enquire further or to offer an apology or explanation, so I decided to post this review. At least two of our party later felt slightly unwell (slight stomach upset)
