I go to Layali Lounge on a fairly regular basis and love the shisha there; I would highly recommend the Pomegranate flavour! It's one of the handful of places in London that DO NOT use that horrible easy-light circular coal but used cubed coal which doesn't seep into the tobacco.I find the service to be fairly decent. But they need to improve their food if I'm to be honest. Their starters and wraps come out a little colder than room temperature and the same can be said about their hot chips. I don't think I'm being pedantic when I say I prefer my hot chips to be hot! That being said, the wine is delicious and very decently priced. My girlfriend and I always get the South Australian wine for £15.All in all, great shisha and wine. Mediocre food though.Only come here if you fancy a smoke.

The staff were friendly however I did notice one male staff in particular had no customer service skills at all - he did not seem welcoming and could do with a bit more smiling. We were seated by the side of the lounge area and minutes into being seated droplets of water came pouring down from the top of the building and it was not a pleasant experience. I would only come here for the Shisha. It was an average night.

I went to this restaurant as its close to Clapham high street and I was going out there afterwards , I read a few reviews before coming and was a bit hesitant the truth is do not bother coming here if you don't smoke shisha , the establishment is purely based around that its not the place you would have a sit down meal at. (its also VERY cold inside a lot warmer outside due to the heaters) The food if you want nibbles or a wrap is average nothing special nothing to complain about , only thing I did find strange was that two of the people I was dining with ordered the same meal and only one meal came out , the waitress said the chef was struggling cooking the chicken so she couldn't bring a second meal out which was very odd. The alcoholic drinks had a large variety , they should have a happy hour or discounted drinks as the prices were a bit steep for what was actually being made. I enjoyed myself here as there was a large group of us and they were able to accommodate us all , I'm glad I didn't base my whole night around this place as I would have been disappointed. They also have a belly dancer which was a nice surprise.

The chef even spoke to us about the food and told us about his experience which was a lovely touch. We had the guy in charge of the sheesha constantly checking we were ok and checked that we were happy with our sheesha. We were also given blankets and left really happy. Good attentive staff, good atmosphere and lovely touches. I also brought my husband here earlier this month and he loved it too. The next time I visit London I will be back here again.

I'm a big fan of Lebanese food, my partner is Middle Eastern so he's very familiar with the dishes also, however neither of us were impressed with the food served in Layali Lounge. The wraps were served cold, sides were very bland and lacked in taste. The fresh juices were tiny, and unfortunately the customer service was very slow. When we requested for our order to be taken after having our menu's closed for almost ten minutes it seemed like they were doing us a favour. The only factor that saves Layali Lounge is I have visited in the past exclusively for shisha and tea, in which I did enjoy myself. The outside area is kept nice and warm, the shisha is good quality and the restaurant itself is decorated tastefully.

I have been looking forward to trying this place as I love Lebanese food. We stopped by today for lunch... This is my first review for Tripadvisor and I was compelled to write it because we had such a bad experience. There was no one in the restaurant so you'd think that it would be nice and quiet. When we sat down they put the volume on the music up so loud we had to ask them to turn it down. The waiters were shouting at each other arguing about someone not saying goodbye the previous night. The waiter advised they had just "changed their menu" i.e. what that really meant was put all the prices up in the last 24 hours (which tbh I don't mind too much if the food is good). We ordered drinks. I ordered mango juice. Despite the menu saying quite clearly 'freshly squeezed' it was out of a carton. I asked the waiter/guy running the floor/owner and he just shrugged explaining he doesn't know why it says 'freshly squeezed' when the only fresh juice they have is orange!! The menu was clearly old - and this was a weird response - so we should've left then! When our food arrived it was cold. I saw our chips sitting on the side for a good ten minutes before the rest of the food came out. We ordered two shawarma sandwiches and they were beyond ordinary.I could go on but you catch my drift... Avoid this place for food and service. It might be ok for shisha.

This is the only place I have ever been to where they appear not to want your money. We went on a Saturday night after dinner for Hookah and drinks. When we arrived, it was already 11.30, and they close at 12.30. There were 8 of us, one of whom was pregnant. We were all ordering drinks, but we really only wanted two hookah between us, with one of us being pregnant and another a non smoker. They insisted that as there were 8 of us, we had to take 4 hookah. Considering it was an hour before they closed, and they had plenty of space, we thought this was a bit ridiculous. I understand it's policy, and you would want to enforce that policy if you were busy and had a queue of people waiting to come in, but at that time of night, they weren't getting any more customers and we were still going to spend a decent amount.Eventually they agreed to give us just 3 hookah, we asked for 1 to be herbal, but they didn't have any herbal left, so we said we only wanted two. Bear in mind that we had already ordered £50 worth of drinks at this point. They then said that since we weren't taking 3 hookah, they couldn't give us the two that were already ready and we should just stay for drinks only. Absolutely bizarre. Anyway, in the end we ended up taking three, and they took so long to bring them that we only had about 30 min to smoke them, during which time they didn't once come over to check the coals or anything.I would absolutely avoid this place and would certainly not recommend it.

I went there with a friend and we were given a table within 10 minutes; the table was a bed. As we wanted to eat we asked if we could go to another table so we could eat comfortably. This was agreed by the waiter and we were escorted to our new table. Just as we were getting ready to order our food and shisha, we were told we were no longer allowed to sit there as they need the table for a bigger party. We were asked to move seats and go and eat inside and wait for a table - again- to smoke our shisha. Astonished by the customer service we requested to speak to the manager. The managers customer service was twice as bad. He gave us an ultimatum, we either had to move table or we will not get served. In the end we decided to leave the lounge as the customer service was beyond appauling. I was a regular customer at layali lounge, however having this bad experience has put me off. After living just down the road from the restaurant for over 6 months, this was the first time we had been in to eat and I will definitely be going back. We both had the midweek special offer (starter and main for £9.95) and a drink, the overall cost was just over £20 – which is great value for London!! Prefect for a mid-week treat! The weather was nice and we sat outside to eat, the wait staff were attentive and we were served very quickly. There was a nice chilled atmosphere and a mixture of people in eating, drinking and smoking shisha. The food was delicious, I had the chicken kebab and grilled halloumi with Lebanese rice (super tasty) and the portion was a good size, it was freshly cooked and great value. We didn’t have any shisha whilst we were there but I will definitely be going back for another chilled evening to try more of the menu and enjoy the lovely atmosphere!

This was by far one of the worst experiences i've had. The food arrived almost 2hours late , and this caused severe delays to the nights plans. Unable to smoke sheesha. Not only did all the food arrive late , when we turned to complain/enquire , we were given excuses like we had arrived late and the chef was a newbie. Not good enough at all , but once the food arrived , it tasted at best under average anyway. Definitely one place to avoid if you're visiting for the food, and as for the shisha , if you order to do shisha by 7pm expect to start your actual shisha session by 9pm , i think that its a universal thing where they make you wait 2 hours till you get what you're paying for

The manager tried to blame us for coming in late when this doesn't affect the time that we ordered! I have visited this place before around same time last year and although the visit was short and consisted only of a round of sheesha I was decently impressed with the comfort of the seats. Last week it was a friends birthday so i suggested we go for sheesha and warm drinks. I like to go out for sheesha once a month with my husband family or friends but am always dissapointed as normal sheesha cafes seat u on rickety chairs an tables with no comfort whatsoever, sometimes having 2 patrons on one table so the next door couple can hear everythign you are saying and you might as well dine with them. Layali cafe has an amazing outdoor seating area where u can dine also. The seats are so comfortable, they provide you with heaters and blankets and you can relax and hang out with friends. we were there for a good 4 hours we ordered 2 rounds of sheesha mint tea and a couple of wraps with chips and all the food was yummy fresh and tasty with good presentation. when mentioned to the manager we were there for a friends birthday they provided a slice of their chocolate and honey cake with a tea light which was lovley!all good but i must say prices are a bit on the steep side so we cant go as often as we want to!Keep up the good work guys - your outdoor seating is the best I've seen in a sheesha cafe in London so thumbs up!

We've eaten here a few times and each time have found it okay, but nothing really special. It's never been really busy when we've been there, during the week and at weekends, so the atmosphere can sometimes feel a bit flat to be honest, compared to some other restaurants in Clapham. During our most recent visit, we tried the two course evening special, which you can get during the week. It's good value, compared to the regular menu, as long as you like the choices they give.We had the stuffed vine leaves and the hummus to start. The portions were a reasonable size. The hummus seemed th better value, as it came with a lot of Lebanese bread. We then had the chicken shawarma and the okra for the mains, one with salad and one with Lebanese rice. These were both very nice, although the okra did seem rather mushy and overlooked. I ordered a cocktail and had to wait over 15 minutes for it to arrive, but had to remind them of my order. Apparently, the only person who knew how to make it was on the phone - not that they bothered to tell me this. Not impressed by the service overall. The waitress was friendly enough, but the general impression was of everyone being rather offhand. Added to this was the 10% service charge that we hadn't really been expecting. So, it's a reasonable place, but not quite in the first rank of restaurants in Clapham.

I came here with 3 of my friends, for what we thought would be a great evening, but we were mistaken. Upon arrival, all seemed good, we were greeted at the entrance, shown to our table and given blankets (as we were planning on dinning outside). Having picked our food and ordered shisha we were perfectly settled. A party of six arrived sometime after and we were told by the waiters to move into another seating area (which was cold and wet - it was raining) as this was a party of six and they had wanted our particular seating (no booking, literally just rocked up and took our seats). After protesting with the waiters, the manager was called out, he came to us and said in these exact words 'this is my restaurant and I want you to move so these people can sit here'. Cheeky is not the word to describe his tone, never in my entire life have I experienced anything like it. Needless to say, we left.

My friends told me about this place so I decided to come with my girlfriend at first we were greeted and we wanted to sit outside but it was busy so we were told to wait inside until a table became available can’t complain as it was a Friday night we had a few cocktails inside while we waited and the lovely waitress came over and told us our table was ready outside so when seated outside we were recommended new flavors of shisha which weren't on the menu by nice shisha guy, the food was great I had the fish but had to be careful of the bones, they even also had entertainment it started off with a singer and then belly dancer after. Then it was normal music which was mix of Arabic and English interesting selection for everybody to enjoy. I will definitely coming back here with friends.

I visited Layali recently with some friends and were excited as we had heard good things about the food and atmosphere. My girlfriend and her mates visited Layali 2 weeks prior and were extremely happy with the service and mentioned that they had 2 lovely waitresses who were very chatty, smiley and actually spoke english! On this occassion we were greeted by a man who was busy serving coal and rushed over. It then took around 15 minutes for the waitress to come over who was stood at the door busy talking to her colleague in a different language! As she came over and served us she was extremely moody, rude and quite frankly unpleasant. Our food then took a while to arrive and when we complained she was very unsympathetic and just looked like she would rather be at home. I have never experienced service like this before and definitely will not be returning!

The first time I visited during early evening, the restaurant was empty indoors but food was pleasant. The second time I visited with a few friends... Food was not special but again pleasant. We wanted to book a table outdoors for sheesha but they refused to provide just one between 4. We explained that only 2 wanted a sheesha but they were not willing. Not quite sure this is the approach I would take if I owned the venue.

Went to Layali lounge for a meal for my friends birthday and was extremely pleased with the overall service. They were quick to seat us and gave a welcoming greeting, when we sat down the general look/feel of the inside eating area was very clean and was well decorated. We were served quickly even with a number of other customers both inside and out. The food was fresh and was one of the best meals we have had, we all thoroughly enjoyed it! Definitely a high recommendation and would most certainly go back again!

Friendly and courteous welcome as we walked in, and the manner of staff was very pleasant. The food was well cooked and presented and was much more then I can eat. We asked to be seated outside after the meal, and the staff were very helpful moving our bags and drinks. The shisha was the best I ever tasted with exquisite flavours I have never seen before, and to top it up they also had my favourite beer on tap peroni! We shall look forward to eating at Layali lounge again when we are next in clapham. Overall food and service is perfect no need for a reservation would recommend.

After reading the reviews for layali lounge- a group of 5 girls on a friday night decided to give it a try for food and shisha.. Well where do I start??!!* booking the table: this was done over the phone we asked to book a table inside for food and outside for shisha.. Was told 2 times on the phone that its strictly cash only (so we prepared for that) and even though the outside wasn't busy they took 10 mins to seat us outside after we did book. * on arrival: we was 10 mins early - wasn't busy at all- staff again before we was seated was told its cash only again to then be seated with 3 different waitresses to tell us AGAIN that its CASH ONLY.* service: extremely slow took 20 mins for 2 cocktails and rest being soft drinks- shisha took long as well as our drinks for that asked for a coffee and hot chocolate which took 35 mins by then we said to cancel the order as we was leaving to then offer it to us for free for the slow service after asking 3 times where they were!!! * food: we ordered shawarma a standard wrap with chicken or lamb which again took over 30 mins when we were the only ones inside eating!! Extremely poor service and staff weren't friendly.. Which didn't even taste that great the meat was too chewy and the wrap wasn't filled enough- i've tasted much better lebanese food.*shisha: slow service and found the shisha burnt out too quick.. The staff weren't onky round changing the coal we had to ask a few times.Overall non of us were happy it was just terrible from start to end.. Won't be going again and will NOT be recommending to anyone. And seriously do not know who has written the reviews before but its just unbelievable.. !!!

I came here for dinner and drinks and my first thought was actually the patio area outside and the smell of some lovely shisha that drew us in!I must say I didn't think the inside of the restaurant was as nice as the patio area out.The food is good. Not mind blowing but you certainly get a good feed. I ordered the 'baby chicken' which was in fact a full sized normal chicken pretty much! It was served with rice and various sauces which all went down very well. The waiting staff very friendly, only criticism is they play garage music in the restaurant pretty loud which I think is an odd choice!Overall though for food, service, price I would visit again.

Have been here loads of times now. The food is fantastic - whether you want a full meal, a snack or just to chill out with a drink. Service is great and it's very good value. Love the music, the ambience and the mint tea is brilliant. great for vegetarians too.If it's your first visit, I'd recommend the mix platter - there is a vegetarian or meat choice

This place is fantastic. I arrived around 9pm and wanted 3 things: something to eat, something to drink, and some relaxed hookah with friends and Layali Lounge delivered on all 3 fronts: great food (I had shish taouk main), a glass of wine, and amazingKiwi Breeze shisha on an outdoor open terrace.staff was friendly and the service was attentive.

Came here with friends and sat outside. The scenery is grim but the staff are very friendly and more than make up for the location on a main road opposite a council block. The food is great- definitely can't complain about quantity or quality. I had the haloumi wrap which was very good. We ordered houmus to share and the bread it came with was fresh from the oven. We were entertained for a while by a belly dancer which was really fun and my friends greatly enjoyed the shisha. Would return and would be a great place for a cheap and cheerful party.

Lebanese food would normally not be my food of choice so I was slightly unsure how I would like this restaurant but it was absolutely gorgeous. Starters, main course and wine - delicious. The food tastes so fresh. Portions are the perfect size and you do not come away overly full. Price is very very reasonable for the quality of food. My only reservation was the service. While we weren't in a rush and were out to enjoy a relaxed night it did not bother me but the staffed seems very busy and at times it was difficult to get anyones attention. I am going back again soon and really hope the experience will be just as lovely!!

My first experience at this place was one i would rather forget. Nothing was explained regarding the pricing of deals which resulted in me paying a charge I shouldn't have paid. When I asked the waiter he lied to his manager and said he had informed me, then had the cheek to charge me for service charge an forced me to pay it when I wasn't pleased with the service, also the food has no taste and the drinks are watered down I am very disappointed as a customer. Also as I walked out he smirked at me in a cheeky manor. Very disappointed as it has ruined my mood for the day. They do not put their customers first very upset with the service. I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

I took my sister here to celebrate her fantastic gcse results. I had the mixed grill and my sister the shish touk. Both good portions and average prices for Labenese food. We also had the fruity smoothies and falafel, very yummy. And of course the night was finished with double apple shisha and a cuppucino. Shisha wa very good and coffee great! The only down side was that they advertise live belly dancing/ entertainment on a friday and saturday but there was none! Would have been nice to add a little atmosphere.

We had a great night last night for my partner's birthday! We had arranged to reserve an area outside for 20 ppl and wanted something special. We went in last week and met with Deepa who made excellent suggestions for some mezze. I got there early to decorate and the area looked great! Nice couches, plenty of table space and we could have balloons and decorations to give it a nice birthday touch. The staff were great! Very attentive and friendly. The mezze was the big surprise! The food was AMAZING! Deepa knows her business. Everyone had loads and couldn't stop trying all the different delicacies. The hummus was incredible, the salads were exceptional and the kibbeh and soujouk were gobbled up quickly. After dinner, we had shisha and everyone had different ones. All of them exceptional and the staff knew their shisha skills. They kept going for hours! Ah...then the unexpected belly dancer entertained us and got the whole party up for a bit of a belly dance. Hilarity ensued...A TOP night and one we will never forget. My only suggestion for improvement in the men's toilet. There is only one and the wait to get in was a bit long and the hand dryer simply didn't work. Certainly didn't take away from the magic of the evening! We were lucky to have a warm summer night but even if it isn't, they have canopied the area and put in sufficient heating so it is comfortable any time of the year!

Came for a girl catch up here on a warm Friday night. The entrance and whole look of the place is very classy and relaxing with subtle Arabic music playing in the background. We decided to take a pew in the outside seating lounge as it was a warm night but to honest even if it was a bit cooler I would recommend sitting outside as there are many heaters to keep you warm.We chatted away over wine, wraps and some chicken wings as nibbles which were really tasty. The shisha was very nice, it last a few hours and the staff there are so attentive with everything from food, drinks through to changing the coal on the shisha. The kitchen is open till around midnight and I would definitely recommend booking on a friday/saturday night if you want to smoke shisha as the outside lounge gets filled up. I would say this a nice spot for any occasion, birthday, date chilling with friends or family.

I went to this restaurant after a bithday party at a nearby pub not expecting much. I was pleasantly surprised to find a vibrant outdoor sitting area with good heating (blankets also available) and tasty shishas to puff on for some added character. The food (Lebanese) was superb - very fresh and well presented and service was attentive but not intrusive. The young owners came by for a chat and were very nice as well.Definitely recommended for a night out with friends especially if you like to sit outside (even in winter). We didn't really spend time inside so I am not sure what it is like there.

I've been to Layali Lounge last weekend with my family and absolutely loved it! I am originally from Lebanon and all I can say is that this is the best Lebanese in London. Not only are the ingredients fresh but their cooking simply draws out the traditional flavors- Tabouleh and Soujouk tasted just like the ones my grandma used to cook!!! hmm... al makan 7elow :) Staff was very polite and friendly, always happy to help choosing the dishes. The meat is Halal and they have a wide choice of virgin cocktails as well as the other non-alcoholic drinks such as freshly squeezed juices and smoothies. I already look for another visit there Inch'Allah :)

What a shame , a great little bar tucked away by Waterloo station . I’ve been coming here for years , but the service has absolutely nosedived. It’s service with a grudge. I stood in the little bar at the front waiting to be served, the male server was clearly unhappy I didn’t walk into the other room to be served , it was 2.55 on a Saturday and he was unhappy as he has to close down the bar for 5.00pm - welcome to the hole in the wall. If you don’t serve in that bar - put a sign up. Lots of people walked in , waited and left. He had time to retire to the kitchen to chat and play on his phone. Really sad to write a review like this because it should be a welcoming and hidden gem

Have been a regular at the tankard for years as an IWM employee. Awful experience this evening, having booked a space for 20 weeks ago (and confirmed) to be told on arrival we had just a small table. The area we were shoved out of then occupied by dinner guests who caused a huge fuss by us being ‘in the way’ and upset several of our party. Manager (?) couldn’t care less and referred me to ‘bookings office in Scotland’! Dreadful treatment for long time paying patrons. Will be taking our business elsewhere.
