Lavender kitchen in Reigate and Banstead

It’s such a shame as the food is really good, there is just one waitress (the main lady), who is so rude. I had been there before and she had given an snarky remark when I had asked for the second time for the bill. I thought it might have been a one off and went back to give it another go. She seems to get annoyed about people coming in with kids and buggies and the last time we went in for lunch, she was just not very nice at all and made me feel very uncomfortable. I will not be going back.

Food was great but the lady serving was so so rude. Zero customer service, rude not just to us but other customers too. I wanted to walk out but had kids with me and my elderly mum with me so couldn’t really leave. Asked to change a fried egg to scrambled egg, it said on the menu that you can change to scrambled, but when I asked the lady replied ‘that’s extra egg’. I said ok, what does that mean. She replied ‘that’s extra egg’. I again said sorry but what does that mean, extra charge or we can’t switch to scrambler or we have to have a fried egg and also an extra scrambled egg? Her reply was ‘yes’. At this point my daughter on verge of tears said don’t worry about the scrambled egg. It was so rude and confusing. Lady didn’t smile once. I don’t mind paying extra for scrambled egg but I’m no clearer on how we would go about getting scrambled egg over fried egg!!! Sounds so minor but was all so bizarre an exchange! Other things happened too that made the visit a sad one, over which table we were sat at plus us asking for a side on a breakfast to be on a seperate plate because a child didn’t like it, which was greeted like we were the biggest pain ever. The lady was so unwelcoming and just plain rude. A real shame as the food was actually really good.

Disappointing! I have been here before and even remember them when they had a cafe in Carshalton. We arrived as a family party of 5 for brunch. Ordered all our food which was good. Then ordered some coffee and tea afterwards. The lady owner came to take our beverage order. I asked for a cup of tea (my second as I had ordered one before the brunch and this came with a small biscotti biscuit). The tea and coffee arrived but my tea was without a biscuit. I pleasantly asked her if I could have a biscuit as I thought it had been forgotten. She rudely said “No, you only get one biscuit” then she walked away. I honestly thought she was joking and was waiting for her to come back with one. But no she didn’t come back. She had been SERIOUS, I was only allowed one tiny biscuit with my first cup of tea. Unbelievable customer relations ! However from other reviews I’ve read she is pretty rude and flippant with her customers so perhaps unsurprising. We spent £85 on the brunch and unfortunately her churlish attitude has ensured that that’s the last time we visit and all my friends will be informed too.

Warm welcome on opening the door, ordered promptly & without a hitch…. The jacket potato with coleslaw & cheese came plentiful with a lovely fresh side salad. Had coffee & soft drinks. Great atmosphere & all staff very friendly & polite & can’t do enough for you. Would definitely return.
