I went there with my partner for lunch. I ordered the fish and chips, the food was very well cooked and of good quality. The problem was the portion size, it consisted of a small piece of fish not very much larger than a fish finger, maybe a dozen or so chips and a minescule portion of peas. It was so small it didn't even come on a regular sized plate. It was served on an oval dish of some sort, I actually thought I had been given a childs portion by mistake. I realise times are hard for the leisure industries, but that was ridiculous. Won't be back.

Stayed here for the weekend since we had a wedding in the area. If you want to sleep AVOID this place at all costs!!! We were warned there was entertainment on later on the Friday night but we were not told that it was right below our room and we’d literally be vibrating until 12:30am. The staff starting work at 7am let guests know they were in as they were shouting to one another constantly! A hotel would simply not behave like this. The breakfast was only just edible and the Room hadn’t had a hoover run over it for goodness knows how long but half the previous guests snacks were still all over it! Do not recommend!!

We received a groupon voucher as a Christmas present for Laurelbank and had no problem using it . Bed , breakfast and evening dinner .Our room was lovely and clean and the food was great with fab portions . Staff were very attentive and nothing was a problem . The locals were very welcoming and friendly . There was a live singer Saturday night and she was brilliant and kept the guests entertained. Only downside was our room was right above the function hall where something was on so it was a bit noisy in the room but music finished about 12 so we managed to get a sleep .Would def return here again .

My wife and I visited this establishment recently for the first time in a few years.Having re-visited all we can say to anyone listening is to avoid this venue and we have now reluctantly agreed that it is highly unlikely that we will be back .No social distancing behind the bar .The owner is robbing both the Government and the diners with pathetic small portions of poor food. Should be withdrawn from the nationwide scheme for ripping everybody off big time. Disgraceful.

Had pre booked and taking advantage of government subsidised meals. Excellent service from friendly staff. We both had fillet steak. Quality and quantity of meal was excellent. Down side is that dining area is shared with bar patrons. Very noisy group seated in bar area and this detracted from the ambiance of the dining experience. This is something which MUST be addressed if the hotel wants to portray an upmarket and pleasant dining experience. Will certainly be back.

Ordered from their menu which stated 2 courses for £10. When the bill came they decided to charge full price for those two courses because according to them, that discount did not apply due to the government scheme to pay for half of the meal. The manager patted me on the back condescendingly, totally ignoring social distancing rules and my personal safety. If the management are going to take part in "Eat out to help out" they need to at least understand the terms and conditions. If they say 2 courses will cost £10 then it will cost £10 regardless of the fact that the government is picking up half of the tab.It is perfectly reasonable if they decide to suspend that offer during the period of the government scheme but if they fail to inform their customers and present them with a menu containing that deal then that is what the cost of the meal is.We waited over 40 minutes from being seated until our starter arrived. The main meal arrived within a more acceptable timeframe. There were no condiments and upon asking for them they provided empty condiment bottles. On asking again for condiments which were not empty they filled the salt and left other empty bottles. I gave up at that point asking. The meal itself was of average, albeit acceptable quality.

Decided to meet friends for dinner for the first time since shielding for me. The poor service was evident as soon as we went in. My friend had a 2 year old who was placed in a high chair at our table - this table was a high table with bar stools at it - therefore her child couldn’t even be seen! We ordered drinks which took 20 minutes to arrive. When they came we ordered food... the starters took about an hour to arrive. They arrived with no apology about the lateness. Our mains then arrived an hour and a half later, with items missing. When we questioned the items missing, it was just a case of “we have run out”. There was no replacement offered and again, no apologies. We had to ask for a child’s drink 3 times before it arrived and other drinks that we reordered never arrived but they still appeared in our bill. The food itself was of a very poor quality; the portions were small and the meals were lukewarm. Overall a very disappointing experience and I will not be returning or recommend.

I certainly wasn’t impressed with this eating establishment.

We recently enjoyed our parents anniversary party in the function area of this hotel. It was absolutely beautiful the decor of the hotel exceeds most function halls or function room for the cost. We had a big party and we had a meal with it and the use of the function room came free with this it was absolutely fantastic value. The staff were very nice the bar and waiting staff were pleasant and patient and worked well to keep the whole thing flowing nicely and one lady in particular was great at coordinating things with us and orchestrating a plan for executing the surprise element of the party. This was an example of her going above and beyond and we greatly appreciated the gesture. Unfortunately I didn't get her name but she will know who she is. She was helping during the day too with setting up. The food was very enjoyable with a vegetarian option which I enjoyed. Thanks LaurelBank for a great party great night great food. I recommend this hotel for any of your special occasions coming up. Markinch is a really nice town too.

A group of us have started going here on the first friday of the month for the karaoke night. It is great fun and the guy 'steve' who is the operator is a great laugh. The place is busy and everyone is up singing and dancing all night. Prices arent bad either. The bar staff need to smile a bit, none of them have cracked a smile on any occasion I have been there. Service isnt too quick either, the bar staff often stand talking at one end of the bar while there are a few people waiting to be served a the other!Like the atmosphere on the karaoke nights tho. Booked this restaurant for a Father's Day meal lunch & was very disappointed with the poor quality of food, I was surprised to find the restaurant almost empty when we arrived at 1-00pm on a Sunday afternoon, but the poor quality of food explained why' low quality pub food and not as described on the menu ? Apparently we had been given the wrong menu !! Desserts were the worst I have experienced.. Ordered Turkish delight Eton mess which consisted of something resembling angel delight with chunks of Turkish delight which was totally in edible and was as far removed from an Eton mess as possible, 2 of us ordered Sticky Toffee pudding which is virtually impossible to get wrong but not surprisingly they managed to mess this up as well, pudding was cold in the centre and had a very untoffee pudding flavour to it ,Desserts were removed from the bill as none of them were eaten.I will not be returning to this restaurant again & would certainly not recommend it to anyone.

Tasty and plentiful, the evening "Meal Deal" at under £20.00 for 2 people was a true bargain. The starters of home made soup and garlic mushrooms on ciabatta bread were both delicious, as were the main courses of scampi + trimmings and rump steak + trimmings. The house white wine was an excellent choice, delightfully zesty and well chilled. Would highly recommend a visit to sample the chef's prowess, without breaking the bank.

We visited here for the steak night in September 2013. Meal was good value and steak was nice. Service was a bit slow in places but they were busy given it is a popular evening. The only criticism I would have is that staff member kept delivering drinks to the table by holding the rim of the glass, bit unhygienic if you ask me. The choice was little 3 choices for each course, with no vegetarian option. The food was almost thrown at you as staff were busy - certainly not service with a smile. the tables were crammed and uncomfortable with too many on one, and the food was small portions and thoroughly disgusting, tasteless - 2 frozen roast potatoes, cold veg dry meat. I never would recommend this hotel. Very poor and not worth £30 per head. Unfortunately it had to be paid in advance.

Went here on a Sunday afternoon when staying near. My husband had an all day breakfast which was fine, i had " mac cheese, a favorite" they said on the menu. I got boiled pasta with what i can only describe as rubber cheese in a lump on top which looked as if it had a fork run over the top in attempt to spread the cheese over the pasta. Never in my life have a had macaroni cheese like this, does the cook even know what it should look like, i don't think they do. Macaroni is one of the easiest things to make. Place was nice, service a bit slow too, I will not be back, i would worry what other meals they would serve when they don't even know what macaroni is.!!

Took my elderly in-laws, wife and two teen children here as it was within comfortable driving distance for the oldies. The restaurant itself is a pub-style type and decor was fine, place was clean. It didn't take long to take our orders for food and drinks, drinks were served quickly.Food took 40 minutes - we hadn't even ordered a starter - 40 mins! If the food had been good or the restaurant had been busy, then I would have understood - but neither was the case. Mac & cheese looked like packet "cheesy pasta", med rare steak came well-done and was very chewy, steak pie pastry was burnt and the meat & gravy inside was dry, the croutons with the ceasar salad were greasy rectangles of fried bread. The chips were good, so was the blue cheese sauce that was ordered with the steak.Pud was a frozen solid affair, not something to be proud of - tasted good once it had thawed out after 15 mins (only one pud ordered and just as well really). To sum up: poor food, poor value, will certainly not be back.

This is a review of the restaurant only. I cannot comment on the hotel.Went here for a meal two weeks ago and the greeting was far from friendly. It was a really warm night but when we asked our server to open a window or door, he did so reluctantly. Our drinks arrived but there was a 15 minute wait before he turned to take our food order. We only ordered main courses but I had to ask someone to check on our order since the was no sign of it after a 55 minute wait. The place wasn't particularly busy and there seemed to be plenty staff but the disorganisation was more than evident. When the dishes arrived, one of the main courses was totally inedible ( veg stroganoff- absolutely DISGUSTING unless you are partial to a tub of sweetened cream with a chopped green pepper in it served on a bed of over cooked rice). We did complain and the manager did come over to discuss the situation but at no point did he apologise. This was the same guy who didn't want to open the door for us. His managerial skills are non-existant and I have formally complained about this horrendous experience. In short, the Laurelbank should not be resting on their laurels given that there are other eating establishments in the village. Don't waste your hard earned cash here.

Not one of my better dining experiences, went a few years back when it was first refurbished and the meal was one of the worst I have ever had so had never been back but my friends and I were looking for some place for a quick meal before heading to another venue in the vicinity so gave it the benefit of the doubt, its a nice laid out restaurant but a bit airy with draughts blowing in from all exit doors and windows it seems, we were given 3 separate menus (after we had to ask for them), wasn't very busy but the service was incredibly slow and the staff all seemed a bit disinterested and unco-ordinated, the food was okay (an improvement on last time) but nothing to rave about and wouldn't rush to go back, such a shame as there are few good eating places in the area but it is now part of a chain and lacks the personal touch.

Pleasant staff and varied menu. Food was slow to be delivered. Thai vegetable curry was not what it should have been: it was spicy veg with a thick, sickly, double cream sauce and white rice to go. Will prob go back, but will have simpler choice. They shouldn't try to add things to the menu if they can't do them properly. Staff were pleasant and rest if the party enjoyed their food which was simpler fare, so ok for pub grub.

Visited this lunchtime with service users. Food was ok although 2 of the baked potatoes were very small with hardly any filling, the 3 filled rolls all good, no complaints. The issue arose when it came to paying, quite disorganised. The gentleman became visibly stressed, struggled to find the price of most items. We needed individual receipts + as the till didn't print these, they needed to be hand written, he didn't know what to do + when he asked for help he was told "he's busy" + "I've not a clue, sorry", there was a woman standing close by who looked like she could've helped but didn't. I made eye contact a couple of times but she just let him muddle on through. I ended up saying to him to forget about the receipts and I would do them myself on return to work. He was so anxious, really felt for him. He needed support + didn't get any. Wasn't a pleasant experience. I've worked with adults with additional support needs for nearly 20 years + have an autistic stepson. I'm all for places like Sensoriale but please support the staff to be the best that they can be.

We went here for a cup of tea as it is dog friendly. That was a big plus. However you can only seem to order via the screen opposite the counter and this was not easy with lots of people milling around. We found seats towards the back and the lighting was poor which was probably just as well as it felt slightly grubby. My husband wanted to use the toilet and said it was filthy and certainly the queue of people waiting to use the one toilet would not have allowed a clean. Overall not somewhere I would return to as a parent of a student.

Excellent. I wasn't expecting much considering it's a supermarket cafe but my breakfast was perfectly cooked. The hashbrowns and tastie scone where a real highlight. I got the big breakfast and a latte. The cost came to just under £12. Not bad compared to the other cafés in Dunfermline. Ladies who are serving are friendly, polite and very accommodating. The coffee is real, vibe in so comfy and cosy. You forget you are in the middle of the shop. I went during the summer holidays, so the were lot's of lovely families. Only con. The is only two people working in quite a large cafe. The serve is quick still. But they really should have more help. It's within walking distance of the high street and bus station. Overall very please. Will be back very soon.
