The service was phenomenal however the food was mediocre. The food was inconsistent in terms of its cook and the seasoning was not controlled. Really disappointing especially for what you pay!!

We enjoyed a fabulous evening at the Latymer for our 10th wedding anniversary. The atmosphere was warm and friendly, all staff welcomed us with enthusiasm. The tasting menu was an exquisite surprise and we thoroughly enjoyed the wine pairings so thoughtfully paired by sommelier Gabriel, who was happily put on the spot to recommend further accompaniment. All staff ensured that it was a wonderful choice for our special evening, many thanks!

Lovely food and experience. Could have been elevated if there was a additional personalisation, given they asked what the occasion was. Other than that, what was advertised was perfect and the dessert was a perfect closer.

One star for the food purely for the fact we had no choice over what we ate (they forced you to have a surprise discovery menu). I think when you're spending 700 pounds on a dinner for two you should have a choice (or you should be informed upon booking that they only serve one set menu). As a result we ended up with two courses that we just did not enjoy (sweetbreads and a course with foie gras which I morally do not agree with and would never have chosen). So we ended up spending a lot of money for courses we didn't enjoy. Once the waiters saw we didn't eat the sweet breads they reluctantly offered to make another course but then said it would mess with the timings of everything else so we could tell it would have been a huge inconvenience if we had said yes. So we didn't bother! The cooking itself was great but it showed the arrogance of the restaurant dictating to customers what to eat (and sure it made the chef's life much easier only focussing on one set menu rather than giving customers more choice) So not customer orientated at all!

We came here for our wedding anniversary and left rather disappointed. I do have a severe allergy to some fish and that was accommodated, we appreciated that. What we didn't expect was no menu at the start to see what we might even be eating and no choice either till after the dish was put down and not eaten. I can't eat runny eggs as it gives me an upset stomach and one dish had a poached quails egg. If I'd have known this in advance I'd have mentioned that I can't eat it and opted for something else. I ate it hoping that I'd be OK as the egg was smaller than a hens egg. In short, I wasn't. Another course with foie gras, which again, I morally don't eat. So an expensive ingredient going to waste. We had a pea dish with sweetbread. Again, I have a mild intolerance to peas and don't eat sweet bread. When the waiter returned it was then that he offered another dish, which would slow the kitchen down but they could look into it. If they really wanted to accommodate customers wishes and preferences this could have been done so with a glance at the menu at the start. As it was having to pause service to swerve and make another dish with no notice seemed like a hassle so we didn't take it. The deserts were both lactose heavy. Which again, I would not opt to order but had to eat some of it as it was infront of me. As it was, with the runny egg, peas and dairy deserts I ended up on thr toilet about 10 times at the end of dinner which totally ruined our evening. As my wife said in the other post, if we'd have had the menu up front we could have picked out 4 of the 6 dishes as something I couldn't or would prefer not to eat. Convenience of the chef in the name of culinary art apparently trumps happiness of the customer. If we had known at time of booking that there was a 'my way or the highway' approach to our 700 quid dinner we would definitely not have booked. We will definitely not return.

The Pancreas was microwaved. Embarrassing. We paid extra for top-ups such as Wagyu beef and Caviar. Was it Caviar though? We couldn’t tell. Caviar has a strong taste. It was completely overwhelmed by the sauce. Disappointing and annoyed. When we tried to make staff aware, they seemed too afraid to give the chef honest feedback. Cabernet Sauvignon from Australia. Not impressed. Costs: Tasting menu: £175 Wine pairing: £135 Wagyu: £60 (50g, natural/not recommend) Caviar: £70 (Do NOT recommend) Service charge: 15% or £150 Total: £900 We have had better Michelin star dinners for half the price. Won’t be coming back for any extra’s. If we do, it will be for the tasting menu only and we’ll order our own bottle of wine. The only reason this restaurant has a Michelin star is because of the hotel.

Disappointing. Service and ambiance were fine; the wine was good quality but dispensed in small quantities. Sadly the kitchen simply does not match what many other Michelin one star restaurants do in terms of creativity. We had a succession of small delicious morsels that needed much more than quails eggs and gold leaf to create a memorable experience. In addition the blanket 13.5% service charge makes everything unrealistically expensive.

Only our second visit to a Michelin starred restaurant, as the first one was underwhelming. Latymer however was an absolutely fantastic experience. My wife and I went for the 6 course tasting menu and the food was absolutely fantastic, with the scallop dish my personal highlight. We also had the wine pairing which was a great choice and the superb sommelier talked us through each glass. As it was a special occasion we upgraded to the Wagyu beef and it really was melt in the mouth. The only slight disappointment were the desserts, definitely not in the same league as all the other courses, but a wonderful cheese board with a port ended the evening on a high for us. The restaurant itself has an elegant, without being stuffy, atmosphere and each and every one of the service staff were excellent, knowledgable, and above all friendly and welcoming. Definitely recommend for a special night out

Superb is all I can say. Perfect service, food was glorious. We took my mum for Mother’s Day and it was a real treat. At about £75 a head for 4 courses, this was a steal because they add little bites at the start and towards the end which feels like extra courses. Overall, thoroughly recommend! Only thing I would say, is that the decor when you first walk in with the carpet, the chairs, cushions have no style whatsoever. I think it needs a refurb!

We stayed at Pennyhill Park for my 60th birthday and the 6 course tasting menu was a special treat. The food was original, surprising and sometimes theatrical. We didn't stretch to the wine pairing, but asked for a white and red recommendation which were both superb. The staff were attentive and friendly (particularly Shiju and Sergio) and were able to answer all our questions about the food and wine, including giving us a history of the Anjou Pigeon. The restaurant is intimate and beautifully designed. Would definitely recommend. Thanks to Steve and your team for a wonderful evening :)

We visited for the tasting lunch as a group of four. When we arrived at Pennyhill we were early so asked to go for pre dinner drinks. We were directed to the bar, rather than walked through. We had to physically move chairs to the table we wanted to sit at ourselves as there weren’t enough. We had to ask for the drinks menu then had to ask for someone to take our order. No one offered to take our jackets. Drinks then took so long that we asked for them to be brought straight to the restaurant. Once we were in Latymer it was a different story as the service was great and food was lavish. Overall it just lacked the little courtesies that warrant a four or five star rating. The hotel left the restaurant lacking.

There is a reason why they received a michelin star! The food is simply amazing and the service is by far one of the best I've experienced. They say to allow 3 hours for the taster menu however we were there for 3 1/2 and every minute was worth while. For those who enjoy taster menus this one should be on the list! We had the surprise menu where you did not know what would be served beforehand, it added another dimension to the entire meal. The server ran through everything they served up and for the special courses the chef personally ran through it - again another touch to add to the theatre of the evening. It isn't cheap however nor should it be, for what you get you will not be disappointed. I would personally like to praise the entire staff, every one was professional, approachable and accommodating throughout the entire night. Thank you all P.s - their bread was phenomenal! I know its only bread however it is freshly made there and is soft with a satisfying crust and it is served with butter and a green "butter like" spread (not too sure what it was but it tasted soo good!). We did see other tables not bother with the bread, and I guess rightly so as the rest of the food was amazing, but even then it is worth giving it a try!

There's a reason this place has a Michelin star, and it lives up to the hype. Absolutely delicious food, impeccable service and wine matching to support was perfect throughout. I had the vegetarian options whilst my partner had non-seafood, all of which was catered to with no fuss. We wondered if there was going to be enough food, given the sizes of the dishes but actually both left feeling completely full. Word of warning: this might have been due to the mid-meal bread offering, but I wasn't complaining given the butter (herb infused or not!) was unbelievable. The wine pairing was great and you could tell the sommeliers were knowledgeable and entirely passionate. At about £130pp plus £95pp for wine pairing, this isn't a cheap night, but if you act as though this is a delicious treat you won't be disappointed at all. Special shout out to Saroshe (think that's how you spell his name!) as our attentive, funny, knowledgeable and incredibly professional waiter - thank you for ensuring our evening was special! 👏🏻

Disappointed. First, they couldn't find our booking and I had to show them on my phone that I indeed booked and paid the deposit. Thankfully, it wasn't fully booked and they were able to give us a table. We had a 6 course menu. First four were outstanding, the two starters were excellent and so were the two main courses. But then came the disappointments which ruined the evening for my wife. The first dessert was mediocre, rather refreshing but nothing special and wouldn't want another one. Worst was the last dessert. It was sour and bitter. It just didn't work and we both forced ourselves to eat as much as we could but couldn't finish half of it. We also looked at three other tables and at all those tables the three couples also left most of that dessert on the plate. I gave feedback to the waiter who only said he'll pass it on. My wife really craved for something sweet in the end and we didn't get anything else. We've just been to a simple local restaurant today and at the end of the meal they gave us complimentary chocolate and some orange jelly. My wife said "even here you get this and I really wanted something like this at the Latymer." At the Latymer I paid £338 for two people (and we only had two alcoholic drinks each) and hearing my wife saying that makes me really want to tell people to avoid the Latymer. It was also my wife's birthday when we went to the Latymer, so it's even more disappointing that our experience wasn't great.

Having enjoyed the latymer on several occasions previously, we were intrigued to see what it would be like under new head chef Steve Smith. In short, it did not disappoint at all and was a fantastic meal. Just from the quality of the amuse bouche (the cheese and truffle balls were to die for) and the bread, you could tell we were in for a treat. Menu wise there is a great a la carte option where you can go for up to 4 courses or else there is the full tasting menu too. We opted for the 4 courses and they were all absolutely delicious - the scallop dish was probably one of the best scallop dishes I’ve ever had, and the strawberry dessert was so inventive too. Service was attentive, friendly, and on point the entire meal. Overall one of the best fine dining places I’ve been for a while and would be shocked if their Michelin star wasn’t affirmed again in the next guide if our experience is anything to go by. It's not big which I liked as it meant it wasn't very noisy inside. The food was really good and my partner commented that it was better than a couple of two michelin star restaurants he'd been to. They had little cards on the table to explain where some of the ingredients were from and this was a really nice touch. We also had a flight of wine which paired wonderfully with the food. The tasting menu was reasonably priced. We had a cheese course added on and tried some cheeses we'd never had before which were great. I would give the food 3 stars but put in context with the cost, the overall experience merits 1 or 2. Were it not for the bread and a chocolate dessert, the meal itself would have left me hungry. The dishes were bite sized, some of the combinations of ingredients did not work, the ingredients themselves were fairly low cost so i can’t justify the price, the pairing wines were nothing special, no dish or taste stood out as memorable. Pretentious disguising something ordinary, didnt deliver at all. And too expensive for a 1 michelin in any case, though how it maintains this is a mystery. Went for the 7 course dinner menu, the food was good but for the amount paid, we were expecting a lot more. Charging £13.50pp for a "cheese course" which consisted of only one cheese (a cheddar), thought was a bit odd and £5 for an Americano, which was just a Nespresso coffee pod. The wine was exceptional and the staff were very attentive and laid back which added to the overall experience. I wouldn't be rushing back though. Nothing short of exceptional dining, we tried Michael Wignall's taster menu, which was a work of art complimented with perfect execution, it made for a thrilling experience on a very special occasion.

Came today with my boyfriend, this is the 2nd time we've eaten here and it's great, food is delicious and and service perfect. Staff couldn't do enough for us. Love that it has been consistently good Had the chicken shish and it was the best I've eaten anywhere. Will definitely eat here again

Had the pleasure of dining at La’De kitchen for my wife and I’s anniversary, the atmosphere was amazing with friendly staff and fantastic service from a young lad called Henry, food was very nice and fairly priced considering the quality of food, perfect for birthdays and other similar celebrations. 10/10 would recommend and will be returning in the near future

Fantastic place to spend a late summer afternoon. Intriguing tapas style menu and delicious cocktails. Fun setting, big screen to watch the summers best sporting events on too
