Best Italian with a SARDIGNA TOUCH restaurant IN Richmond, fresh STARTERS, fresh PASTAS dishes and lovely desserts.. Service are good and the atmosphere is Italian style.. The place is small but beautiful...

We asked to sit by the window......the waitress didn't seem to want us to sit there even though only 1 other table was occupied......the waitress then went to the kitchen and ignored us even though the chef and kitchen help told her that we were still waiting to be served she still ignored us so we gave her another 5 mins or so and went up the road to Sebastians where the food was delicious and the service was impeccable.......if you want a good meal and good service this isn't the place to be

Dinner was so lovely! We had the buffalo mozzarella, the wild mushroom pasta, the lamb ragu and then shared a tiramisu. the food was incredible and all the staff were lovely. The prices are very reasonable too

Dishes were too salty and too cheesy. Below average. Did not enjoy it at all. Service was very good though.

Top Sardinia restaurant, simply a genuine gem :) If you are Sardinian, you’ll love this place! I’ve never had any great Sardinian dishes in London until I found this! Their home made pasta is simply delicious, especially the coffee one!! Yes, you’ve heard me! But the signature dish of this place is their Sardinian Mille Foglie made with pane carasau! It’s something in between Seadas, Aranzada, pardulas and cannolo siciliano!! This is a treat for your palate and soul! “Una vera coccola” that makes you travel back home if you close your eyes! Not kidding!! The tiramisu was so big I couldn’t believe it! The place is super cute and romantic and the staff simply looks after you as they do in Sardinia! You really feel at home! And any dish can be modified as they are freshly prepared. Grazie ragazzi to have made our 10th wedding anniversary lunch so cosy and simply special :) A presto :) I hope to remember the name of the guy who looked after us, Manolo? I hope I remember well! Grazie davvero :)

Absolutely fantastic Italian food in the heart of Richmond. I am always super pleased (and full) after a visit to L'assaggino. The staff are friendly and helpful with the menu, and the pastas are all outstanding. Highly recommend!

We decided to go for lunch here because of the previous reviews. We didn’t book, but arrived and found the options of sitting inside or outside. We decided as the day was warm and sunny to eat outside, a great idea as it offers a great local vibe, with lots of people to watch. We were seated and offered water along with our menu. Our food was delivered in a timely manner and was delicious, we even left enough room for dessert, the tiramisu is a must. Great food and great service.

Did not dine here but shame on a company that claims to be in the business of hospitality to sell shop bought biscuits for £9 in the name of Ted Lasso. Staff also unfriendly. Yes I’m embarrassed that I fell for the con but I was with my young nephew who wanted to buy his parents the biscuits.

Small restaurant in Paved Court, Richmond with delicious Sardinian food. Lots of emphasis on pasta dishes - the make their own pasta daily. The calves liver was incredibly tasty. Fantastic friendly service.

Incredibile food and atmosphere. The quality and taste of the ingredients used in our dishes brought me straight back to Italy. A special mention go to Fancesco, the executive chef. His passion for creating memories though his dishes is admirable as well as his ability to make you feel home. As an Italian I highly recommend this restaurant, if you want to experience the real authentic Sardinian/Italian cuisine. We will definitely come back soon!

Wonderful staff, great food, well worth a visit

Noticed this restaurant on our way to the Ted Lasso store as they had the pink boxes of biscuits inspired by Ted Lasso advertised in the window. We were initially looking to eat at The Prince’s Head, the pub featured in the show, but they turned us away as we didn’t have a reservation. So we wandered back to L’assaggino who had open seating at the time and seated us quickly. The waiter gave us some recommendations on refreshing spritz and appetizers to enjoy on the hot day. The limoncello spritz was a bit strong for me but loved the aperol spritz! We had the bruschetta for our starter which came with some complementary olives to snack on while we waited for our pasta dishes which were great. I had the mango sorbet for dessert which was perfect on the hot day. Before we left we got the pink box biscuits to go which we enjoyed later in the day and were so buttery delicious! Would def recommend stopping by here for a meal during your visit to Richmond.

Ted biscuits are not the real ones, not the same size, not the real shape. Very disappointed and expensive for the bake recipe

This looks like a stereotypical family-run Italian bistro, boasting less than ten tables. The food being eaten by others smells and looks authentic and tasty. However, this is not the reason for visiting. We are here today because this restaurant is next door to the location of Ted Lasso's house in the TV series and supplied the famous shortbread that Ted cooked in the TV series. Today you can buy it for yourself. £10 for five pieces of shortbread in a pink cardboard box, what a bargain!

Highly recommend L’assaggino! They catered to all our needs for a special event with a large group of us. The food was delicious and the staff were absolutely wonderful.

Went for some Ted lasso biscuits for my dad cost £9.90 and turns out it is just basic shortbread that you can get for 1 pound from b&m. Complete waste of money basically a scam.

Hot pasta dishes were warm at best, parts were cold. No seasoning so quite bland. I’ve cooked better fresh pasta at home. Not worth the money as missing very simple and key components to running a restaurant.

Four of us ate here this evening 20th July. Lovely simply laid out restaurant, creating a holiday feels with great atmosphere. The menu is pleasingly small but perfect, just the right amount of choices for starters and main courses which allows the chef to concentrate on creating beautiful and very tasty food. The service from the three ladies is exemplary and all very reasonably priced. We will definitely be coming back.

Tucked away in the historic Paved Court, a picturesque flagstone lined lane a stone’s throw from Richmond Green. Unaffected interior snuggled on a tight footprint goes large on charm, ambience and ease. Sardinian inspired fare - pasta based - is bound to delight with an insightful intimate familiarity and aplomb evident here. Delicious food. Limited vegan options. Service engaging, attentive and savvy. An historic Llliputian setting delivers a surplus of superlatives. So darn good.

A gorgeous little spot for drinks and a bite to eat. We ordered wine and starters. Natalia was super helpful and friendly. We asked to sit outside and she brought us the menus straight away and also suggested a blanket. The food was delicious and a good choice of wine. Excellent value for money and brilliant friendly service. Wish we'd had longer so we could have stayed for a main meal as the menu looked good. Natalia was brilliant.

Me and my partner on a recent trip to Richmond stumbled across this tiny Italian bistro and we were welcomed into the restaurant with open arms by the waiter. He found us a cute little table upstairs and left us to browse the menu. This place is small and dainty with a wonderful feel and ambience and that just makes you feel relaxed. The food itself was superb, I opted for the pulled lamb and green pasta it was exceptional, my partner had the carbonara, this was so tasty and creamy. All in all, brilliant experience, great food reasonably priced. We look forward to visiting again!

Good place to have a light dinner with a nice ambiance. I visited this restaurant without realizing it’s on the street where “Ted Lasso” was filmed. Many people stopped to take photos at the main entrance. The food was excellent, with good portions and great flavor.

Stopped in for the “eat like Ted” cookies (which were incredible btw). I saw how amazing the food looked! I had to come back for dinner! The food was amazing! Probably one of the best Italian dishes I’ve ever had. I wish I didn’t live in Maryland because I would be a regular! Highly recommend!!

A little diamond in Richmond! Zucchini salad to start which looked underwhelming but was absolutely delicious! We shared the lamb ragu pasta - excellent As well as the goats cheese and fig ravioli - also excellent… slight preference for the former. Canolli and terrimisu desert were scrumptious. A bottle of primitivo to share - decent. Would highly recommend. C

We arrived just before six and asked if their was a a table-which it was. Very charming waiter and great food loved the Swordfish! Nice wine-Grillo. Ordered a side salad with my main order-it never arrived and I was not charged for it. Had to ask for my wine after 15 minutes or so after ordering. I feel that this establishment is short staffed and the kitchen looks way too small. The staff must be exhausted after every shift as they never stop. There were folks queuing outside at one point which is always a good sign. We were not rushed, which was nice. Pleased we went ,however those two flights rickety stairs up to the toilet will surely be the undoing of someone. Would we go back? Probably not due to those stairs.

The cutest restaurant split on 2 floors with lovely service. I booked for 4 about 2 days before on a Sunday for lunch, but there was space for walk-ins too. We had the table by the window which was idyllic. Our food was all very yummy, however I'm giving the place 4 stars due to all our food being very salty. And I like salty food. We paid £112 for 4 people to have pasta, 2 small plates, water and 1 alcoholic drink. The toilets are up 2 flights of stairs, so I don't suggest if you have accessibility needs.

Don’t buy the ‘Eat like Ted’ box. I was charged £9.90 for cheap store bought shortbread. Really disappointed and feel like I have fallen for a con.

We had a wonderful family lunch at L'assaggino with small children. The adults tried 3 different pastas, all expertly made. The carbonara was sinfully delicious. My favorite was the fennel sausage with truffle. The staff were incredibly accomodating to the children as well, quickly bringing out a simple pasta for them which they loved. Then they had ice cream for dessert which kept them occupied while we had our mains. It was honestly one of the nicest restaurant experiences we've had with our very young children. I highly recommend it and intend to come back.

Myself and friend ate here last night for the 1st time and were very impressed. Excellant food and the staff couldnt have been more helpful. We asked the waitress about a bottle of wine we didnt know and when it came it was too sweet for us and they changed it without any discussion. Totally recommend it and i would go back

Hidden away in the cute narrow passages of Richmond , this tiny place is a hidden gem. Run by friendly Sicilians (I’m presuming) maybe family) the do a small menu to be able to focus on quality. The food was super fresh and delicious, but be warned a visit to the loo up ancient rickety stairs is not for the faint hearted. Booking is a must to avoid disappointment.

We arrived at the restaurant without too many expectations and were very pleasantly surprised. A small and beautifully designed restaurant, just like in a small town in Italy. The staff was kind and the food was simply delicious. I recommend everyone who comes to Richmond to eat at this restaurant! (I do recommend to make reservations) If I could I would give 10 stars

A Little Slice of Sardinia Right in Richmond! Just dropped into L'assaggino after seeing it featured in the Ted Lasso series – Ted supposedly lives right next door! The hand-made pasta here is the real deal, truly capturing the essence of authentic Italian cuisine. I had the Carbonara, and it was simply amazing – perfectly creamy and authentic. The restaurant itself has a great vibe, spread across two floors with small, cozy rooms that really make the atmosphere feel personal and inviting. Manolo, the owner, is from Sardinia and brings a slice of his homeland to the menu with some delightful Sardinian specialties. He was super attentive and professional. Also, shoutout to Roberto, our waiter, who was incredibly welcoming and great at explaining each dish. Definitely recommend L'assaggino if you're craving genuine Italian cuisine in a charming setting!

This is a small restaurant and initially felt cramped. It was also quite noisy. However the service was prompt and friendly and the food was excellent. Also value for money. We had a very jolly evening and I made a mental note afterwards to leave a good review. A local restaurant that deserves to do well.

My friend and I had a lovely lunch of Parmigiana di Melanzane with side salad, which was great. And the Mille Feuille with a Sardinian twist looked fun and was very tasty, too. Service was a little bit rushed but otherwise no complaints.

Like the other reviews, it was a really delicious restaurant :) It was nice to have a cute atmosphere and all the staff were very friendly and took good care of me. From the recommended starters to the mains (carbonara, raviola), Aperol with blueberries, and the homemade tiramisu, which is enough for two people, everything gets a perfect score♡ I don't think you'll be disappointed no matter what you eat.

Went for quick mid-week lunch. Food was exceptional and didn't take long to prepare. We didn't want any alcohol and don't like sparking drinks so went for water. Tap water was not offered to us, just the regular guests; one bottle cost £4.5 factoring service charge.

Had dinner last night , the location is perfect right in the centre of Richmond, the interior is cozy and the staff friendly and polite, but alas the food was disappointing, All 4 mains were served tepid on cold plates which is a basic mistake which could easily remedied. The whole attitude of the manager/owner was to get us fed and out so he could have another sitting. We all agreed that we wouldn’t be visiting again sadly .

I have had great Italian meals both in Italy and in the U.K. and this place food wise is very average. Clever wording of menu choices that for me flattered to deceive. Service professional, albeit not with ‘Italian warmth’ and maybe a bit rushed. Online menu very different from menu provided with only one choice of a daily ‘special’.

Amazing restaurant, well worth trying. Authentic Italian food, almost felt like I was back in Italy. Menu has amazing choice, I wanted to try them all. Lovely staff and atmosphere.

Cosy restaurant although our table was on a slant so everything felt lopsided. The service was attentive, and the wine we chose was nice. However, the food felt underwhelming and my partners prawns were cold. The burrata was basically just a ball of cheese on a plate with a thin layer of romesco, and it wasn’t that creamy inside. Both pasta dishes were really average and overall we felt the meal did not represent the price tag.

So nice to be able to book a table without having to make a reservation on a credit card - which seems to be the norm for many restaurants now. Had a wonderful dinner, all 5 dinner dishes were excellent - flavoursome and fresh. Such a hidden gem. You must go. The only downfall - there are steep stairs so it's not accessible for everyone.

Ma soprattutto andate a mangiare in questo piccolo ma splendido ristorante che è disposto su due piani di una vecchissima casetta in legno situata in un vicoletto molto caratteristico. Il locale è gestito da Manolo che, insieme a Francesco, sono anche gli chef sardi che propongono le pietanze del loro luogo d'origine anche rivisitate personalmente. devo dire che è stato il miglior pasto del nostro soggiorno a Londra. Se poi ci aggiungiamo la cortesia e la simpatia dei due chef, e di tutto il personale di sala, che hanno fatto di tutto per farci sentire a casa; allora il connubio è perfetto.

I can't even begin to describe how mouthwatering the pasta was! We got the Ravioli Di Zucca E Guanciale (ravioli with ricotta cheese, pumpkin, and guanciale), Gamberi Piccanti (king prawns in spicy tomato sauce on carasau bread), and another pasta dish with tomato sauce, cheese and basil from the specials. The staff were very friendly and the service was quick. The only issue was the noise - it's a very small place, so noise from customers amplifies. Will visit again, probably during a less busy time.

Excellent pasta dishes, which are reasonably priced, and attentive service in a small and very friendly restaurant. I would recommend the restaurant, which is close to Richmond Theatre, without hesitation.

Lovely location (just past the "Ted Lasso pub"), terrific food and service for an early evening family dinner before heading to see Harlequins rugby.

Went for a lunch here and had black pasta and ravioli. The place is essentially a narrow house converted into a restaurant. For the setup and portions, we feel that items are overpriced. Perhaps the cooking is authentic Italian but we found it to be just ok. Our bill had charge for water also which we think the waiter should have informed about beforehand. Because we just wanted tap water but a bottle was brought.

We stumbled across this little restaurant and we were so happy we did! Amazing fresh and tasty food and a great menu.it was hard to chose but the prawn ravioli on special was the best ive ever had

2023: Reasons to return to visit L'Assaggino? The warm and smiling customer service that welcomes you and takes care of you from when you enter to when you leave and even when you are out the door! The welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel at home. The food is all wonderfully good for the eyes and taste buds. But guys my absolute favorite thing is the Sardinian millefeuille!! After two years it was time to go back and try it again and it exceeded expectations and memory. Thank you 2021: Happy 4th birthday to L' Assaggino and its very friendly and discreet staff. Tortelloni with salmon, which would have deserved a photo, but were too good to get lost in chatter and Sardinian millefeuille which in addition to being beautiful was also very good and it's a shame that the photos don't show the wonderful orange smell. This place has genuine local charm which is a rare find in Richmond, the food is delicious and fresh and the waiters really friendly. The atmosphere and setting is no frills and classic which I guess also fits in with the classic Italian theme.

This is it not your average high street Italian. The building is grade 2 listed - so expect an interesting and unique interior. The staff are friendly and efficient and the food is amazing. It’s a cosy restaurant down a quiet lane off Richmond Green. Well worth a visit if you’re in the area.

Absolutely fantastic food, would recommend booking as the place was quite small so not sure how lucky we'd have been on a Saturday night if we hadn't! I had a great vegan pasta, which I've found to be a rare find in other Italian restaurants and my partner had a lovely Ragu. The menu was unique but appealing and we both found it easy to find something we liked.

Lovely, high quality, unpretentious local Italian / Sardinian restaurant and deli with excellent and unusual food, a spacious, bright dining room and lots of tempting things for sale in the deli. Excellent, friendly service.
