L'artisan in Cheltenham

We have been regular diners with Yves & Elisabeth for many years now; we have seen it transformed from a dinner venue to a Pandemic Takeaway (poor Yves) and ultimately to a Cafe du Midi. Each reincarnation has had the needs of their clientele at the very heart of their decision. The standard of food, in an informal setting, is second to none, great value et bien sur, typiquement francais. the constantly changing Tour de France menus enable Yves to show case his artisanal skills with the engaging and lovely Elisabeth as the welcoming committee. Go! you will not be disappointed.

8 of us enjoyed a delicious lunch at L'Artisan. Elizabeth provided us with a warm and delightful welcome and together with her colleague ensured that we had everything we needed. The food cooked by Yves was delicious french cusine..we had the set menu with 2 options ...starters of french onion soup and camembert melts..Mains of chicken and sea bass accompanied with rice and vetables and desserts of creme caramel and apple pastry...the atmosphere was informal and all the dinners were enjoying a long and laid back lunch...a wonderful way to spend a saturday lunctime...thank you

We just come back from lunch at l’artisan and we were in French heaven. The welcoming from the host was fantastic and the food matched the welcoming. The decor of the restaurant is in keeping with the bistro theme. I had a mussels starter which was really tasty and my wife had the traditional onion soup which was superb. My wife had a special venison main and I had the duck which weresoooooo tasty. We were just missing bread to mop up all the sauces. The service was very attentive but not over the top. The prices were very reasonable too for the quality of the food. We will definitely be back.

Nous avons été très bien accueillis chez l'Artisan en français et en anglais. En entrée ravioles de saumon et épinard pour l'un et gâteau au comté pour l'autre. Le Chardonnay conseillé allait parfaitement avec le plat venant du menu "tour de France", qui nous a amené dans les Alpes avec une copieuse tartiflette accompagnée de charcuterie. Enfin nous avons fini sur une note sucrée avec le Horsechoux choisi à la pistache et un crémeux chocolat myrtille. Tout était délicieux. Nous recommandons vivemement l'adresse !

Run by a French husband and wife team who present perfectly cooked food, beautifully presented on the plate. Highly recommended. This visit highlighted by a blueberry kir with the blueberry liqueur made by the chef - stunning taste and very unusual. We have visited many times and they in the last couple of years have produced menus specifically aimed at different French regions and it works a treat. Keep up the standard .

It was our first ever visit to L'Artisan and what a lovely experience it was. Elisabeth was very welcoming at the front of house while her husband Yves the chef was very busy in the kitchen. We decided on the set lunchtime menu (see the photos). Everything on the plates was cooked to perfection and tasted superb. We shall return to enjoy the evening menu very soon.

The food and service both exceeded expectations. From first greeting to farewell we were made to feel special as well as welcome. The serving is were extremely well-informed, especially important to me as a coeliac having to follow a gluten free diet. Each dish that came out was a delightful flavourful experience. Delicious is a word often overused in politesse, but here it was the only rightful description. The ambiance is elegant but relaxed, you’re being well looked after, the food is wonderful, you can just feel that you are in good hands to sit back and enjoy. Congratulations and Happy Christmas

This Bistro is a favourite of ours for years. We went for lunch, decided on 3 mains of local venison and one daube of beef. The meat melted on our tongues. Absolutely delicious. Our entrees were beautiful created and presented. We finished with a gorgeous Mousse au Grand Marnier et Mandarine. Could just start to repeat today. But we wouldn't want to forget the lovely young lady who served us with a lot of humour. Thank you L'Artisan for a wonderful lunch.

Fun to speak French. Not quite the French bistro it purports to be…bread was an extra £1.95! Busy for a Wednesday lunchtime. Staff were sweet

This authentic bistro is so reminiscent of a typical French restaurant: friendly attentive staff, an attractive monthly menu which explores regional cuisine. Each dish prepared by Yves is beautifully presented and unfailingly délicieux! The current mulled wine (complete with cognac😳) is a taste sensation. Bravo!

Booked for lunch with family, having not been for a while. Excellent food and service, which is how we remembered it from before. We enjoyed it so much that we have booked to return in November, we all can't wait, see you soon.

L’Artisan brings back happy memories of so many lunches in small provincial restaurants all over France. Elisabeth and Yves are incredibly welcoming and Yves’s cooking employs wonderfully varied ingredients beautifully prepared and presented.

What a great little place! Had a fantastic 3 course lunch here… if you like well cooked, nicely presented, tasty French cuisine then this is the place for you! Lovely friendly staff, and decent wines by the glass.

Due to not being able to visit the restaurant we ordered an authentic French meal from L’Artisan to eat at home some 30 minutes away. It was so easy to order via e.mail and was all ready to collect at the precise time. We had chosen 3 meals from the set menu and 1 from the a la carte. All travelled well and were hot when served. We had put the oven on a low heat to keep the main courses hot whilst we ate our starters. All courses were perfect in size and exceptional in quality. The amuse bouche and pre deserts were an additional and welcome bonus.You may have no fears in ordering a meal from L’Artisan. Go for it. You won’t regret it.We look forward to eating IN the restaurant as soon as it is permitted.Thank you Yves and Elisabeth.

Yet another brilliant takeaway. Always a pleasure to see the staff working so hard to make a takeaway meal so special. Lots of extras included in the very reasonable price of £15.95pp for a set menu. The food was absolutely delicious and we shared our starters and mains, so got to taste everything. Support this restaurant through this difficult time and order yourself a lovely meal, served with a French smile.

Have previously dined at L'Artisan before lock down, with wonderful food and service. Yesterday, we tried the take home set menu, savoury crepe to start, braised lamb with accompaniments and added Crepes Suzette to follow. We can not praise the food highly enough including the well organised collection service with the warm french bread and the little extras. The food was piping hot when we collected, good size portions and well packaged in stay hot containers. Thank you Yves and Elisabeth for a great meal.

After a year of shielding and lockdown we were at last able to take advantage of L'Artisan's takeaway service. We ordered a lunch for Easter day. It was fabulous. Carefully prepared and packed it was a delight to once again enjoy Yves's superb cooking in an al fresco meal in our garden. Ordering and collection was very easy and Elisabeth was as warm and welcoming as always. We can't wait for the time when we can once again 'dine-I'm at our favourite and best French restaurant - anywhere!

Following recommendations, we booked the set two-course dinner for two, plus the delectable chocolate mousse - all delicious, well presented and ready to eat the minute we returned home. We also appreciated the tasty 'amuses bouches' - a nice touch. The website is clear, easy to navigate and we received a very speedy reply from Elisabeth, confirming our booking. Staff at the restaurant were charming and the whole experience a delight, which we are looking forward to repeating very soon!

We collected our Sunday lunch. It was beautifully presented and in perfect condition. The starters were absolutely delicious and beautiful to look at. We appreciated the great attention to detail. The high point was the main course . The lamb was divine and the vegetables quite perfect. The dessert was delicious too. Altogether a very memorable treat after the straitlaced lifestyle of Lockdown.

Without being able to make a proper restaurant visit, L'Artisan Takeaway is an excellent way to celebrate a birthday. Classic Boeuf Bourguignon exactly as it should be with vegetables and potato pave plus one of the best Crème Brulée anywhere. Add to that the delicious little gifted savoury and sweet tasters and you have a wonderful and memorable birthday.

We had a delicious takeaway lunch for our anniversary last week. Superb cooking and friendly, helpful service as always.We cannot recommend L'Artisan highly enough - we take all our friends and family there (out of lockdown of course!) and everyone loves it. We can't wait for the restaurant to open again but meanwhile we can still enjoy some of the best food around at home!

Thank you so much to Elisabeth and the team for creating an amazing experience for Mum's 80th! The logistics of a zoom dinner over 3 countries did not faze L'Artisan who shared their menu, answered all enquiries promptly and provided a fantastic meal on the day! Timing was essential and the order was delivered to the right place at the right time, the food was excellent, and the courtesy and care taken were exceptional. We cannot wait to come in person and enjoy the imaginative and authentic French cuisine again (and again and again!).

We have had several different meals recently. All superb with extra free add-ons. Most recent was sea bass which was excellent.

Covid restrictions have brought challenges but Yves and Elizabeth have stepped up to that challenge with their takeaway service. However, ‘takeaway’ does not mean an inferior quality. For our anniversary meal (48years) we enjoyed the mushroom tart, sea bass, lamb navarin and rum baba. In addition a delightful amuse bouche. The service is superb and the food is excellent, as always. Having lived in France, we are so happy to have this oasis of French cuisine on our doorstep.

First choice restaurant for all our special occasions. Proper French food served with careful attention to detail. Brilliant service, Yves and Elisabeth go the extra mile to make every visit special. Takeaway delivered to our door while shielding, loads of food, popped some into the freezer for another day. Merveilleux!

A Valentine's Day meal to remember, undoubtedly the best take away you could ever get, a better description than take away would be fine dining at home.The set menu was delicious, we had 2 different starters and mains, rum baba and a horsechoux, cannot fault anything, Ample portions and it came with extras which we were not expecting.So lucky that after much research we decided to try L'Artisan, it will certainly not be our last meal from them.Elizabeth and Yves so helpful, in fact when there was a technical issue with our bank when trying to pay Elizabeth said we could always pay after - who else would say that, but luckily the bank's site was resolved and we paid beforehand.Thank you so much for making 2021 Valentine Day so special -we will be back.

Ordered the Valentine takeaway for collection, which was waiting for me upon arrival. Everything covid safe. Absolutely delicious, cannot praise you enough. Lovely little extras included which were delightful, including bread. Everything was perfect, thank you so much.

Had a pre-Valentine take-away, which I pre-ordered and was ready when I arrived from Tewkesbury. Generous helpings and added little extras to make it a special meal. As always Elisabeth and Yves on good form - doing remarkable food under very difficult circumstances. Thankyou all.

Thanks to Elisabeth we were able to share a delicous meal with friends, even though we had to collect our orders separately and meet over Zoom rather than over the dining room table!We chose from the Gastronomic Tour of Brittany menu this time. I had sardine beignets followed by a fabulous cotriade - a Breton fish stew made with cod, mackeral, red snapper and potatoes in a creamy sauce. As you can see I love my fish, so I was in heaven!Thank you again to Elisabeth and everyone else at L'Artisan for all your hard work during these difficult times. Just enjoyed the stuffed mushrooms and trout fillet from the set menu takeaway this evening. A beautiful meal that makes yet another evening at home into something very special. Being able to order up to lunchtime on the day is amazing.If you fancy a special meal cooked to perfection this is the place to go.

We thought that we would treat ourselves and try a take-away from L'Artisan as we enjoyed eating there pre-lockdown. We were very impressed, not just with the wonderful food and 'free extras', but also the warmth and friendliness of the staff. The menu changes regularly and we get updates by email, so we will be going back soon.

My husband and I have eaten at this restaurant many times in the past as well as celebrating a family member's 100th birthday. It has always been an exceptional experience. authentically French. So we thought we would cheer ourselves in the winter of 2021, as Co-vid continued to stretch interminably by ordering a take away. Yet again L'Artisan did not disappoint. Admittedly we had to collect the food but nonetheless to our delight all the little extras [regulars of this delightful restaurant will know what I mean], bread, amuse bouche and even an unexpected extra of a sweetener were included with the 3 courses that we had ordered.

Superb takeaway. Not quite the same as being in a restaurant, but a very good second best. Hope they get through the current situation, and open before too long when we will visit the restaurant.

We have had several great meals from l'Artisan over the last few months. As well as the superb ordered dishes the meal turns into a feast with the addition of little extra items to eat between courses. This last time we received, as extras, a tiny basil soufflé with gazpacho-like sauce to start the meal, and a tiny mango mousse with raspberry sauce and red currents for later in the meal. The menu changes weekly and provides a special occasion dining experience for the home. Pick up times are carefully arranged so that there has been no need to queue and service is charming.

We visited midweek for dinner. As usual the food was delightful. I went for the Lamb meets the wolf starter - lamb c 10 ways absolutely fabulous and followed it with the rabbit and mustard source again lovely. My wife went with the Xmas foxes price menu and loved it. Service is prompt but not overbearing. Always a pleasure to come back!

L’Artisan was just simply sublime. Amazing French food, the horsechoux in particular is worth a mention - an example of perfect patisserie - with a special Christmas mulled wine flavour! The staff were attentive and we had a nice conversation with Yves at the end of the meal who wanted to make sure we were happy - which was a nice touch and of course we were! There was an excellent wine selection, a gorgeous amuse bouche, and sublime starters and mains. All were perfectly presented and good sized portions. Highly recommend for fine dining in Cheltenham.

Have wanted to come here for a while and yesterday had dinner at L'Artisan. The service is excellent, it is an authentic French experience with lots of nice touches such as the delicious bread and amuse bouche.The fillet steak was absolutely outstanding (amazing garlic sauce too) and the raspberry horse-choux to finish was a great dessert.We look forward to coming back and ordering the same again.

Went for lunch here today. Had the fixed price menu (£23pp for 3-courses), it was superb. Had the terrine followed by turkey with chestnuts, then chocolate log for dessert. Food is excellent, really tasty and beautifully presented. Service is warm and friendly without being fussy. It’s not cheap, but as a treat it really is first class.Fully compliant with COVID regulations, staff in face masks with hand sanitiser and wipes available upon entry and at the table. Tables well spaced out without it feeling bare.

Have been eating here both in the restaurant and as a take-away: L'Artisan excels at both!The restaurant has the most friendly ambience of any restaurant in or around Cheltenham. The staff clearly take great pride in their work. The menu has always shown great creativity and is executed with real style, especially the regional menus which have been a regular feature this year.Even though the food as a take-away was every bit as good as that served in the restaurant, I would still choose to eat in when possible. Cannot reccomend L'Artisan enough.

We dined at L'Artisan on Saturday evening , after being in this "lockdown "we were eager to get out & enjoy some really good cooking. We were not disappointed. On arrival we were warmly greeted we had some drinks then ordered our `starters being myself having the Snails in Garlic Butter and Parsley these were superb perfectly cooked tasted fantastic a perfect starter . My Wife chose the starter Pan Fried Scallops and King Prawn on a Pastilla of Brocciu Corsica Ewe Cheese and Vegetables, Rocket Salad and Kalamansi Coulis. Again perfection on a plate everything was cooked perfectly & the presentation was outstanding. My Daughter chose the Goat Cheese, Courgettes, Basil and Mint Gateau, Red Pepper Coulis with some smoked duck. Again perfection It was a shame to eat it as the presentation was every bit as good as the taste.Mains we had the Seared Beef Fillet in Cracked Pepper this came with vegetables lovely Truffle d cauliflower blitzed to a fine sauce with Dauphinoise which were so good .The main course was so good i could have eaten it twice. The beef was cooked to perfection & tasted sublime. My daughter chose the Steamed Cod and Pan-Fried Spices dressed Red Mullet Filet, Vierge Sauce:Tomatoes, Cucumber, fresh Coriander & Citrus zests ,again perfection on a plate fish cooked perfectly so good.for sweet we had the French Coffee & one Pistachio choux pastry with chocolate topping cant remember the name but again wonderful. The whole evening was 10/10 the staff were tremendous the food outstanding We will be coming back very soon . (If they have availability )!!!!

Close your eyes and believe you are in Lyon with its legendary cuisine. Excellent throughout. The little extras made it special. Our best takeaway ever!

Wanting to support local restaurants we had a takeaway from L'Artisan last night. The whole experience was great, from ordering to collecting (in a very Covid safe way}And the food was fantastic. We did a mix and match from the set menu and a la carte as I have some dietary restrictions. Nothing was too much trouble- down to the lovely drawings on the containers to distinguish what was what.So do support L'Artisan in these difficult times. It will bring a smile to your face and a warm glow in your tummy!

We had a takeaway from the restaurant on a Saturday evening and both chose from the 2 course set menu and it was SUPERB! The A La Carte menu looks amazing too! The food was fresh, hot and super tasty. ,We were treated to an amazing complimentary amuse bouche also and fresh bread, I've been to this restaurant before and loved it; the fact the standards are equally as good in takeaway food is testament to the quality of the chef and owner Yves's culinary skills. I would also like to praise the front of house personnel.. owner Elizabeth was wonderful and made me feel like I was in France! You can see the pride and joy that exudes from this couple and their staff.And don't forget to order a Horsechoux dessert.. oh la la!!! perfect Don't hesitate to order.. you won't regret it.

Our takeaway today ( 12 November) was superb. My salmon terrine was exquisite and beautifully presented. Roger raved about his Perigord salad. As ever we enjoyed the cassoulet, one of our favourite meals which always brings back happy memories of holidays in the south-west! The cup of carrot soup was a tasty treat, as was the mini-dessert. All in all, another triumph for Yves & L’Artisan. Their takeaways were wonderful in the first lockdown, but now they've really excelled themselves. Can't wait for next week's offering. But it's so difficult to choose, I want to try one of everything, it all looks exquisite.

L’Artisan is truly a find - a warm welcome, cosy atmosphere and sensational food.We are regular visitors and really love the ‘Tour de France’ regularly changing set menu. In addition, the a la carte offers a selection of imaginative dishes all prepared with enormous attention to detail.And in lockdown, we can still enjoy a delicious meal courtesy of a great takeaway.Elisabeth and Yves are generous hosts and we always love dining with them - L’Artisan is one of our all time favourites.

As a birthday treat we decided to try the take away menu from L'Artisan - having only had exceptional quality food in the restaurant, we felt pretty confident that their takeaway menu would be good. But it wasn't just good - it was fab-u-lous darling! With the extra little touches that Yves is famous for, this was a really special birthday meal and almost as special as being in the restaurant. If you've been a customer of L'Artisan in the past, help them over this terrible time and book yourselves the best takeaway in town. Delicieux!

As a Friday night surprise, my partner decided to present me with a delicious “takeaway” from l’Artisan. It was absolutely lovely and the free extra touches of a soup starter with fresh French bread and a little desert each were really appreciated. The Whitebait starter was one of the best we’d had. Such good value too - less expensive than the Indian takeaway we got a few days prior. Bravo, l’Artisan! We’ll be visiting again!

The best takeaway ever. Almost as delicious and creative as the meals in the restaurant, with all the little touches that make a L'Artisan meal special. During lockdown, this is the way to go.

An unassuming gem of a restaurant in the heart of Cheltenham which was the perfect venue for our gastronome son to celebrate his 21st birthday. The restaurant was intimate but covid-safe, with a wonderful atmosphere. An extensive wine list and authentic French menu (so much so that we felt we could have been in France). The service was genuine, attentive and warm - this independent, family-run restaurant clearly cares about both its food and service. We enjoyed meeting Yves, Head Chef at the end of service, so that we could thank him personally for our meal. We will definitely return to this fantastic establishment.

Just back from an amazing lunch, last chance before lockdown.Greeted warmly by Elizabeth. Our table was for two by the window, beautifully set with starched white table linen. Waiting staff friendly and knowledgeable.We had the set lunch , choice of two items for each course. We chose everything so we could taste and swop. Great decision, beautifully cooked presented and served. Tap water kir royal and a good bottle of wine. Will use the takeaway service during lockdown. Thankyou to the chef and all the staff for such a lovely experiece.

If you like the French you will like L'Artisan. If you like Food you will also like L'Artisan. However, if you like amazing French Food, you will absolutely adore L'Artisan.My partner and I tried L'Artisan at the start of October for a Birthday Celebration, and we were so happy with the experience, the ambience, the friendly service, we returned again last night. Everything was as fantastic as the first visit. This will definitely become a regular dinner date for us.

Ate here last night while staying in Cheltenham for a couple of nights. The atmosphere was great and very welcoming, the staff all Covid aware. I tried snails for the first time & was very impressed! Main meal of rabbit and finished on a cheese board all washed down with a lovely bottle of red. All of which was cooked and presented beautifully. The staff took time to explain what the dishes consisted of, and I would definitely recommend.

I took my dad here last week as a treat, we were certainly not disappointed. From the moment we stepped in we were made to feel welcome. Dad had snails and I had the veal dumplings for starter. Both were incredible. The steak tartare according to dad was the best he has ever had! The duck was also amazing. Lovely touch that both Elizabeth and Yves came to chat to us during dinner. Will definitely be back next time I'm in Cheltenham

Took my other half for his birthday on Sat 10th October (along with 2 other friends) the food was our of this world and the service was amazing.Elisabeth and Yves (head chef) came over to our table and took time to tell us their story which made the experience even better. We went for dinner on Saturday night. The welcome was warm. Elizabeth has a winning smile and effortless charm. The additional waiting staff were attentive, relaxed and friendly - a combination which means they are working extra hard but with a professionalism that means we only see their graceful elegance. Five stars for the FOH! Then there was the food. Absolutely delicious. Every course and we had them all from delightful and unexpected amuse bouche to the cheese board via a starter, main and dessert. It looked as pretty as a picture and tasted even better!At the end of the evening the chef came out and greeted everyone in the restaurant- it made us feel very special. A little piece of France in Cheltenham. Such a welcoming place, everyone welcomes you with a smile. The decor is a reminder of those Provençal restaurants, and the food is absolutely delicious, authentic. Definitely a place to visit, and to go back again and again.

What can I say - perfect in every way. Amazing friendly staff, lovely aesthetics and beautiful food. For a top class restaurant also reasonably priced. This is a diamond in the rough and will definitely be visiting more often. Thanks for a wonderful afternoon.

We enjoyed an absolutely wonderful meal here last night. Everything was perfect from start to finish. The service, the food, the atmosphere, the visit from the chef at the end of the evening. We can not recommend this place highly enough. Thank you for a fabulous evening

I made a booking for their seasonal moulds et frites and I wasn’t disappointed. The mussels were plump and tasty, the French fries were crisp and delicious and the homemade bread was divine. I wish the were always on the menu then I would come to Cheltenham more often. PS the service was impeccable.

Our first return visit since pre covid so long overdue but everything was as good if not better than how we remembered it. Perfect service, beautifully clean, nicely busy with great ambience.Scallops, prawns and moules all perfect, washed down with a very acceptable house Chardonnay.Our first experience of the signature horsechoux desserts, mon dieu! Not to be missed.This just underlined how enjoyable a visit to L'Artisan is.

We had a wonderful evening at L'Artisan for my Mum's birthday. The food was superb and service was excellent. Can't wait to go again.

We had a very nice takeaway from here during lockdown, but this was my first visit “in person” for lunch. It was moules specials fortnight. Well lucky us! Great ambience, great food, generous portions. All brilliant. So nice eating at a family restaurant, the proprietors connecting with you and taking such a pride in what they do. Officially my new favourite Cheltenham restaurant. I’ll be back.....

This restaurant is far and8 away the best restaurant in Cheltenham We have eaten here twice this week and everything about the place is excellent. I would quite happily drive all the way from London just to eat here.The service and food are way above anything else I've experienced and I've eaten at a lot of restaurants all around the world. Yves and Elisabeth and their staff go over and above what's normal to make sure you have a great evening. Can't wait to come back to Cheltenham just to visit this restaurant. What a treat. This is where you go for excellent cuisine and service. A family business that take great pride in their food and standards. Tables ell separated without compromising atmosphere and waiting staff wore see through face masks which made you feel safe.We would strongly recommend L`Artisan if you want a special occasion celebrating by eating exquisite food. I would say the actual venue itself is understated but its all about the food.The Joyeux Anniversaire decorated in chocolate on our dessert plates was very much appreciated.

During a recent holiday to Cheltenham I visited several brilliant restaurants, but L'Artisan was exceptional in every respect and I cannot wait to visit again. We opted for the Tour de France set menu, and were not disappointed. My bouillabaisse transported me back to Provence! What truly sets this restaurant apart, besides the excellent food quality, is the outstanding, warm service from the staff and the extra touches such as the amuse bouche and homemade bread. It was an immersive French dining experience, rather than just a meal. I wish I could eat here every week!

L'Artisan is very central in Chletenham and definitely what it says on the package. It claims to be a French restaurant and it serves very French dishes with waiting staff who clearly are indeed French. We enjoyed Kir Royale, mussel amuse bouche, good French-style (you're getting the idea) bread, and a nice Chablis. One of us had a starter of goat's cheese mousse, the other a scallop and prawn starter. These were very nice, but perhaps were the first inkling of what is the restaurant's strength or weakness depending how you look at it: portions are large! For main course we both had sea bream, which was nice and came with a lot of vegetables. It was a mistake to also order a portion of frites, and while all the vegetables were nice, the whole plateful seemed a bit confused, or at least full! This all meant that by the time we ordered what we thought would be the lightest pud (creme brulee) it was a bit offputting to see a huge one that neither of us could finish. I don't want to put you off because we had a nice evening, the staff were friendly and the food was good. If you love truly French food, and lots of it then you will really enjoy this.The obligatory COVID comments: they seemed to be serious about it as everywhere we went in Cheltenham; waiting staff had visors, tables at reasonable distance, hand gel available,...

Fabulous food (as I understand it the rabbit and goose I ate were sourced from Le Patron's mates in France), all elements prepared and executed with precision with the flavour dial turned up to 11. It's an intimate but relaxed place, very welcoming and good fun. Strongly recommended!

We regularly eat on a Saturday lunchtime; it’s our weekly treat and what a treat this was! The service was incredible, the food heavenly and the atmosphere calm yet vibrant. I cannot wait to go again.

Fantastic meal in a lovely setting. Chef and his beautiful wife are really lovely people and know exactly what they are doing. All the food was excellent but would highly recommend the duo of duck. Will be returning x

Wow, what a fabulous place!!! Food absolutely fantastic. The restaurant fairly small and intimate is just perfect. Front of house staff are brilliant, attentive, but not overly so, friendly with a sense of humour and very helpful Chef coming out at the end of service to meet people was great. Not cheap but you get what you pay for. I really can't praise it highly enough. Can't wait for a return visit.

We went here for an anniversary dinner last year and had a fantastic meal. Itching to go back. The experience was faultless and we always check out the menu when walking past. If you are missing top quality French cuisine, look no further!

Well what can I say about this restaurant other than the food was outstanding and the staff were wonderful!I booked the restaurant online a few days in advance but had an email apologising that they were fully booked for that night. A couple of hours later the owner, Elizabeth, rang me to say they’d had a cancellation and they could fit us in albeit half an hour later than my original request which suited us fine. We were warmly greeted by Elizabeth who showed us to our table. Presentation of the food was wonderful as was the taste. We both had three courses and couldn’t fault anything at all. It was wonderful to find an authentic French restaurant owned and staffed by French people. It took us back to our visits to France and allowed me to try out my limited holiday French! All in all a superb evening and I can’t recommend l’Artisan highly enough. We will be back!!

We had two tables of four with friends at the restaurant. It was a lovely evening, the food was superb and the entertainment and service by the staff was excellent. It was great fun with an impromptu french lesson as part of the service. The Covid side was dealt with very well and all of us think this is the best restaurant in Cheltenham. We hope to be back.
