A bustling restaurant with a selection of freshly made, flavourful noodle dishes all priced around £10 for a large portion. The service is also fast. It is also worth noting that this place is cash only.

The food is great. By far one of the best restaurants around. The only things I don't like: they never give you napkins and if you ask for them, they will give you 1 only. They don't clean the tables very well from client to client. But if we talk only about the food. I will give them a 10 out of 10

I have been craving Lanzhou noodles since leaving China in 2020 (after living there as an expat) and this hit the mark perfectly. The broth took me back to our favourite little noodle bar in Hangzhou and was warming and delicious. I went for the Lanzhou soup noodles with sliced beef. The hand pulled noodles are fresh and perfectly cooked. I will be back to try the rest of the menu!

Greatest Chinese food in Southampton with you any doubt

It’s a no frills place and sometimes they only yell the order numbers in Chinese, but the miso beef dry noodles are out of this world! Massive portion too for the price.

Most authentic and delicious hand pulled noodles in the region. Fresh noodles are made to order right in front of our eyes. The sauces are delicious too. Must visit if you love authentic Chinese food. The oil spilled noodles can be made vegetarian. Just ask for it at the counter if you are vegetarian.

Their speciality is that they make their own noodles (hand-pulled)! It gets crowded pretty much everyday but it is not too bad. The waiting time for food is very little and the food is delicious. They do not have a huge variety but the few dishes they have, they make them to a nice standard. They have pork, beef, chicken and vegetarian options! For around £10 you can have a healthy and very filling meal.

Tried beef brisket in broth noodle. The quantity was huge! There were so many pieces of beef for just £10. Coming to taste, It was nice, but not outstanding in my opinion. It is self service. Cash Only. HALAL!!!

Had the brisket broth for lunch. Very tasty indeed and the noodles were excellent. However the meat was poor and a few vegetables in the broth would have been better. Very busy but that all adds to the atmosphere.

Love the food. Disappointed they've taking the tax avoidance stance to only take cash, but understand why. Also disappointed the prices have gone up to £10 a dish now. My brisket was very fatter for that price too. But flavour is flavour.

The restaurant is very basic, an open kitchen with a few tables and chairs. It is clean and bright. Sorry but I have tasted what they serve and honestly comparing the same dish what i had where this originated. This experience had been a big let down. We went in there put our order in from the laminated A4 menu at the counter and been told they do not take card. The nearest atm is 2 blocks down. Could have told us before ordering or state so on their website. We travelled an hour to come here. Spend time looking for carpark and look for atm to pay for a £20ish meal for me and my mrs . Wanted something the posted on the wall but being told that merely advertising which is different to what they are actually serving. They offer canned soft drinks. The whole experience takes you back to islamic state of rural china back in the 60s i guess. Food took awhile to prep which is fine because that is done fresh. Thin slices of beef and vegetables with vineger or chilly oil to add...seriously...?? You could added a bit more sides The dishes were ample but i find blend edging on tasteless. Why so tight on the spices for some reason. Given the experience as a whole. I like the distinct offering but i find it is more of a gimmick. This are very traditional dishes and quite common where it is originate. It is hard to fail given their offering yet i do not see myself coming back anytime soon

Good Lammian noddle in Southampton

Well, this was a punt after a random advert on my FB page - taking my GF for a birthday supper and feasting on the Brisket Beef Noodle Broth - boy was it sumptuous. Beautiful flavours, rich, soft hand-pulled noodles and enough to feed my GF for three days. The bowl was a beast. And all for a £10. I defy anyone to go there and not be satiated. You know the food is good when it's standing room only waiting for table. And a room full of Chinese guys and girls all enjoying a proper taste of home. Absolutely splendid. Top marks. Go enjoy !

Quick place to grab the best noodles & beef brisket soup..No#3 😊

We had a 45 minute wait for a disappointing beef brisket ramen. I also ordered a cucumber salad, which was not left out for collection from the kitchen with the ramen, but on enquiry was found sitting out by the till, right where people and children were queuing and ordering. I did not eat it as that's pretty gross and not entirely safe. The brisket meat was ok but there were about three pieces per person, plus a LOT of big chunks of fat. Obviously you need fat for flavour but this was about 60% of the 'meat' quota and it was unpleasant. The broth was average in my experience, fairly bland, but the noodles themselves were excellent. We tried this place after a rave review on 'our hampshire' Instagram page. Unfortunately the menu we saw online was much bigger than the single copy of a menu that was available from the till on our visit, and we had no drinks menu at all, which he did. I hate leaving poor reviews but this place gets built up so much, and we were really disappointed.

Nice to see chef using hand pulling noodle, fresh. I ordered beef brisket noodle for £10, it's a good size however I wish there's some vegetables such as pak choi or something. Drink wise, there's only water bottles and can of fizzy (unfridge) ... Notes : they only accept CASH, no card machine. I don't have any complaint at all, happy with it.

Probably the best spot to eat in Southampton. Very traditional restaurant where it feels like you are transported to Xinjiang to enjoy a delicious meal. They prepare hand-made fresh noodles pulled right in front of you, tender beef that melts in your mouth and giant portions, what else could one possibly ask for?

The only delicious and authentic Chinese food in Nan'an! I have ordered beef brisket and beef noodle soup, both are good. The chili oil is particularly fragrant and the portions are quite large. I have eaten there five or six times with friends. The price has increased in the past year, but it is very cost-effective among Chinese food in Nan'an!

It’s a bit run down, but food was good and prices cheap. Perfect for students and to meet their expectations. Nothing fancy or elegant - a very casual dining experience.

Seekers of halal food will not regret visiting this place. Try their classic soup beef noodle or their dry noodles with beef brisket. Vegetarians also have some delicious options. I spend a third of my lunches here whenever I'm in town. Nothing short of comfort food par excellence!

Best restaurant for Chinese food for me. I enjoy noodles and it took me time to find this place. Good for eating in or take away. Each dish average cost 10 pounds. Very relaxed atmosphere. The service lost just star because the orders are called out in Chinese. So I tend to take time to hear my order number.

Nice place, lots of seating. Tried the beef noodles, and couldn't finish as it was too much. Perhaps I should have finished the noodles and meat first before trying the soup. Tea egg (cha dan) was also good. Would go back on a cold day with an empty belly!

Best authentic Chinese beef noodle in the country, period. Ah I miss home. Perhaps too authentic for some, looking at some 1-star reviews 😅 those people should probably visit their usual Royal China for that kind of ‘Chinese’ food.

The noodles were freshly made and delicious! The portions were huge for the price point. Only problem was the options were limited when we were ordering as some items were sold out. Otherwise, would 100% recommend!

Arrived super early and had a good table for four. Food is delicious, the tea eggs yummy, it's very no frills but worth it, and make sure to listen carefully for your order number when it's yelled for you to collect.

The attitude of the waitress is really rude, I’d suggest that to fire this waitress, and why only accept cash/WeChat pay/Alipay? There is UK Why can't accept pay by card? I suspect you are avoiding taxes!

Beautifully done noodles made in house. We ordered to-go due to lack of seating at the time, but ended up eating in when a table became free. Hands down the best Boba I've had since being in the UK. It's made fresh in-house, which makes all the difference.

Tried their noodle soup a month ago and loved it. The last two times I wanted to try them again, they were full of customers. A store worth trying.

This Chinese restaurant offers very tasty and abundant dishes. Furthermore, the kitchen is open to view and it is fascinating to see the entire procedure for making the noodles live. The place is definitely very simple, you order and you are given a note with which you are called when your dish is ready. Please note that the first call is in Chinese, but if you don't answer they will also call in English. They don't accept cards for payment, only cash, but it's very cheap. They don't sell alcohol. They also do take-away. Keep in mind that the place is very popular and often very crowded, especially with students from the nearby university. It can often happen that we share space on the same table.

Small, student packed place with gorgeous authentic food! I'm not a student, but loved the atmosphere. Place fills up quickly, but as cooks are working relentlessly, people are served pretty fast. I loved the freshly pulled noodles, broth was warming and the cold salads... OMG, YYMMM! Definitely will be going back to try more of their gorgeous menu! Portions are enormous with at reasonable prices.

Beef brisket noodle soup is the best I've had in the UK! Fresh hand pulled noodles, soft and tender beef and sensational soup! Can not fault it! No need to order a drink! Portion size is massive! So be sure you're hungry (or a big eater). This is just a diner / cafeteria type restaurant, go to counter to place order, you get a ticket with your order number, so listen out for it when the chef shouts it out. He says it in mandarin and English. You go pick it up at the kitchen counter, along with your cutlery, add chilli oil if require. When finished, just leave :)

it is a reassuring sign when a Chinese restaurant has a chef who seems to slam the food down and shout. That's how you know it's authentic, when the service is authentic, not obsequious - that and the fact that everyone eating here is Chinese. For £9 you get a HUGE bowl of noodles with lots of beef. There are a few different varieties depending if you want brisket, sliced or minced beef, dry or wet noodles. There is also unlimited chilli oil on the counter. The noodle broth contains coriander and lemongrass as well as beef stock. I placed my order & paid with the friendly young man on the till and just wait for the food to be ready. After that eat and go. The noodles are handmade to order! Better eat here! So good!

Never try this place! One of my friends recommended this place as he knows I like Chinese food. I ordered noodles beef brisket with broth. Packaging was good but taste was awful!! I tried many different ramen types and never had that bad experience. Meat was full of fat and red. Beef taste was very bad and noodles wasn’t cooked enough. The bowl was full with noodles and little bit beef. Usually they put many different vegetables inside soup. Price for that portion was good but quality was zero. I think someone should check the hygiene for this place.

Highly recommend the scallion-flavored beef brisket dry noodles. The beef brisket was very tender. Although it was a little greasy at the end, it was still able to be eaten with green onions and freshly-baked noodles. The portions are generous! It just takes a little longer to cook sometimes, but it doesn't affect the delicious beef brisket noodles.

A very bad experience! The chef's attitude is very bad!

Today, I had a rather unpleasant dining experience here. As a regular customer for over two years, I walked into the restaurant with my friend, just like any other day. After placing our orders, the staff informed us that we had to wait for the chef to finish their meal before they could prepare our dishes. Despite our growing hunger, we found a seat and waited. After a fifteen-minute wait, I faintly heard someone say hello next to me. I put down my phone and looked over, only to find two people at the neighboring table asking if we had placed an order. They seemed to be part of the restaurant staff, and I confirmed that we had. One of the chefs used exaggerated body language to describe how my friend had ignored his greeting, which she hadn't noticed at the time. He then asked if we were hungry, which left me feeling perplexed and somewhat disgruntled. Did they only plan to start working if we answered yes? The whole unpleasant conversation lasted for 2 minutes. My friend and I were both taken aback by this ‘outgoing’ interaction. When our food finally arrived, I went to the counter to ask for napkins. The same chef handed me blue cleaning paper and apologized for their earlier behavior, claiming it was just a joke. Frankly, we couldn't quite appreciate this kind of joke, which is why, from the moment we left the restaurant to now as I'm typing this, we still can't calm our inner feelings. This dining experience has left my friend and me with a very unpleasant memory, and we are uncertain if we will return to dine there as we used to in the past.

The most delicious halal beef noodles in the UK 🇬🇧, and they are truly halal (the picture was taken first). But, hey,,, The last two times I went to eat, the ramen was made by foreigners. The noodles were unstable in width and not as chewy as before. The soup also lacked the aroma of beef bone soup, and my mouth was still dry after drinking it. The noodles were made in advance. Pour the large pot of vegetables on top, and the soup will be boiling. The only good change is that the portion is much bigger and I can’t finish the beef slices, but so what, I won’t drive another hour to come here to eat it, it’s totally not worth it

If you want no frills but the best beef brisket in town this is your place. Secret family recipes are the best !!! Proper soul food and for £9 a portion (enough to feed an army) yiu really can’t complain.

Delicious and authentic Lanzhou Noodles. They are made and cut literally in front of your eyes so you are getting the freshest noodles possible. The broth and toppings are traditional, authentic and taste very good. You are expected to wait for your order via a number on your reciept. This is shouted out in both Mandarin and English. The staff may seem intimidating due to all the shouting but they are very warm and welcoming when you speak to them. Highly recommend.

You will not want to miss this restaurant if you are a big fan of Lanzhou beef lamian noodle soup. Noodle is hand-pulled in the open kitchen so there is no question about its freshness and ingredients. Either beef slices or beef briskets will go perfectly well with the noodles. If you arrive early enough, there is a wide range of bubble tea options to suit all tastes. Be prepared to have some cash as the credit card machine occasionally does not work although you can also via your phone if you have the relevant apps.

Four stars for the food, but one star for the waiting time. If you come here at their busy hours, you’ll need to wait for at least half an hour to get your food.

The food at this restaurant is delicious, but there are a few drawbacks. The staff primarily speaks Chinese, making it difficult for non-Chinese speakers to understand. Ordering can be challenging, as they call out orders in Chinese. It would greatly improve the experience if the staff had basic English skills and were friendlier towards customers.

The quantity of meat is not that great according to my personal preference (too much fat). Beef brisket noodles was otherwise good. Did not like the cucumber salad at all, too salty not spicy. Food is fresh though. Not too impressed with the taste. And this is a CASH ONLY place.
