Langleys Fish and Chips in Wiltshire

Went as shop opened for the day had cod and chips and a battered sausage. Cod was 100% from lunch. Dry fish, chewy batter. Cold chips. Would not recommend.

Food was stone cold was packed about half hour before a piece of pensioners cod was cooked and left on the side. The fish was overcooked and the chips soggy as. But unless your are lucky enough to have Tara serving you. None of them seem to care about the state of the food they are serving you. You do not pack an order half hour before the fish is ready. Was disgusting will not visit with my family again

Fish over cooked chips soggy worse fish and chip shop I ever have had. We will not be back. I’d advise to simply stay away. Yuk

GOPPING literrally the worse fish and chips in the world. Curry sauce is good. But no good if the fish and chips are rank. I would advise to anyone considering this place to stay well clear

Absolutely delicious fish and chips. Beautifully cooked and very generous. Friendly staff and my order fulfilled quickly.

Absolutely disgusting food £35 wasted will bot be going again avoid don't waster your money cold dry chios that we're clearly from lunch time just put bk in the iol to heat up nasty....

This place used to be so good for Fish & chips, but boy has it gone down hill!! The last three times I have bought Fish & Chips the fish has been way over cooked. The batter is dark brown and the fish inside is dry. If the owners are reading this, YOU ARE OVER COOKING YOUR FISH!!!!! They have now lost me as a customer. Fish & Chips is not a cheap meal anymore and I’m not paying for poor quality over cooked food. The batter should be golden brown and the fish juicy, NOT dark brown and dry.

Usually I'm reasonably happy with this chippy however today the service was awful and I gave up waiting to be severed. The staff were literally doing one order at a time.

Reasonable chip shop. Food is usually good, but not consitantly so. Have occasionally had poor quality items For some reason the curry sauce is always terrible

Just purchased large cod and chips. Without doubt the worst fish and chips I have ever had. Burnt batter and overcooked chips. Avoid this place at all cost.

In the area, so popped in for fish and chips. I must say they were the best I've ever had. I live near the coast so that's saying something.Very friendy service.

Langleys are one of the best chippy in Chippenham. Lovely fish and chips in my opinion. I've been going here for years and they never disappoint. They do get very busy yes but it's never a problem. What do people expect when you have a good chippy and portions are good too and the price is good for the amount you get. So they get a fiver star rating.

Lovely fish and chips. Cooked quickly with grest service and they were delicious 😋 will be coming back often to this place.

I read some bad reviews but went anyway.... The fish and chips were delicious, the service quick and staff friendly. I'm looking forward to my next treat from there.

Due to a mixup by staff I only had half my order when I arrived home. As I live 15 minutes away it was not worth my while to drive all the way back. Check your order before you leave...

Been going there for years and the food has always been to really good standard. But the last 5 times I went there the store has been closed when online says they are open. And there has not even been a note in the window explaining 'electrical problems' or anything.

Chips where awful, fish was awful, sausages 🤮 this was always a great place to get fish and chips. It's now the worst.

Returned after a long time. Unfortunately very disappointed. Overwhelmingly greasy, had to use kitchen paper to remove fat. Curry sauce powdery. Quantity fine but will not return. Used to be best fish and chips in town but sadly no more

We had various food from here and 4 out of 6 of us have been poorly, one person is even in hospital, the two who weren’t ill had no batter, but the 4 sick people did, it was dark and dirty oil, definitely won’t be back here!

months of rubbish food and service especially recently when my cod which cost me £8 was smaller than a baby's foot I decided enough was enough. I said let's try station Hill chippy and thank god I did. The cod was nearly a foot long and was amazing. NEVER WILL I RETURN TO THIS PLACE.

The fish and chips were cooked fresh.They are probably the best chip shop in Chippenham. The fish just melted in your mouth, just enough batter and the chips were cooked perfectly

Enjoyed a tasty Hake and Cone of Chips totalling less than £6. Slightly different mushy peas taste, but this didn't take away from the enjoyment of the meal as a whole. Ordered, cooked to order and served within less than 10 minutes.

All I ordered was a portion of chips and I certainly won’t be doing that again. How can a chip shop not manage decent chips 🤢

It's a couple of months or so since we last had fish and chips from Langleys. It used to be our 'go to' fish and chip shop with chunky, white fish in a crisp golden batter. Sadly not any more. The fish is thin and scrappy, the batter is overcooked and oozes with grease. I don't know if it changed hands/supplier/chef or any combination of those but either way, the quality is absolutely abysmal and we will not be going there ever again. To be fair, the chips were OK - not wonderful but certainly not of the low standard that the fish is. So if you just want a portion of chips, you could do worse. If you want fish and chips, well, I not only don't recommend it at all, but for a standard portion of Cod and Chips and a standard portion of haddock and chips, we paid just over £20! Premium prices for poor quality product.

Couldn’t be bothered to cook for myself, thought I’d give a try 😕 wished I hadn’t. In years past it was good not anymore 🤷‍♂️

Do not go here, ordered something, got home and it was completely different to what I got. Not the first time either, if you want a nice take away go somewhere else

Went here due to it being recommended by a local. Possibly the worst fish and chips I’ve ever had. The batter was so over cooked it was brown and very crunchy, underneath it was the thinnest piece of fish I’ve ever seen ….. it too was brown and crispy, it looked like it had been fried not covered in batter first. It was inedible. The chips were somewhat mediocre. I should have taken it back and complained about it but they had closed.

Just had to nip in and get a portion of chips as some one I was with wanted chips as I've just had a gyros down the road, the lady was polite at the counter and being it was 8:30pm and nearly closing the chips didn't take long to turn up, good portion and the chips were above the usual standard of a chippy!

I had the pleasure of tasting fish and chips from here today and they were truly delicious. They had just been freshly cooked and lovely and hot. The chips were nice and firm with no blemishes whatsoever. The fish was beautifully cooked, very moist with a golden crispy batter. This was my first visit to Langley Fish and Chips as I don't live in the area which isn't a bad thing as I would be a regular customer for sure. Given the portion size I'm not sure it would be good to be living close to the premises, I'd be there too often . I didn't have to wait as I arrived shortly after opening however, I would definitely consider the fish and chips well worth waiting for, some of the best I've tasted compared to some Swindon fish and chips. Oh, and the owners and staff were extremely friendly too so all perfect.

Cod at 7.99 was dry and chewy like a drum stick lolly I've always raved about the good food this was the worse fish I've ever tried the batter was overcooked and must of been left keeping warm so long it was completely dried out I've gone there since the day they opened but this was so disappointing and the chips was not that good either

Just passing through and needed a quick meal. That is what we got. Very pleased that they had gluton free batter option for cod. Batter and cod was lovely and tasty chips cooked just how I like them. Reason for 4 star was thought fish was quite expensive and charged 10p for a cheap plastic bag that I did not ask for. Bring back paper bags.

For the first time ever this week we threw away a portion of fish and chips as unedible. As others are saying the quality has drooped badly recently. This was always the place to go but we won't be back. Curry sauce has become Curry soup, cheap potatoes making greasy mushy chips. Fish is pot luck some days cod and reasonable quality others grey and most likely pollack. It's really sad as it's been our chippy for years and years.

Definitely gone downhill. Last trip there was Thursday when I took an elderly friend for a treat, yes we didn’t know they were closing at 9pm but there was no need for the girl waiting with the keys (clock watching) to run to the door as we pulled up right outside, get the old guy out and have the two girls and lad inside to ignore us both. We went to Station Road who were open, friendly, and great with the OAP. The youngsters in there need some Customer Service training, we’ll not be back.

I am very disappointed with Langleys recently 😞 gone massively downhill at first it was really nice food but the last couple of times I've been there (like tonight ) the chips were horrible couldn't eat them and the mushy peas were really runny...the steak and kidney pie wasn't too bad... but I'm sorry to say i won't be going there again...

Not sure whether it's changed hands recently, but gone massively downhill. Prices hiked up, portions smaller and chips soggy and disappointing. Look elsewhere people.

This is an unacceptable way of giving customer a meal, the oil was old which meant bad tasting food not happy

We have been going to this chip shop for years, but recently it’s gone downhill. Every week we order and something is missing and also wrong, they don’t answer the phone and then the place is closed. Portions have decreased and the younger staff are useless. It’s just too much hassle and you never come away with what you have paid for - especially with the price increase you would hope they would give you what you paid for

Awful! Burnt burger is an understatement, then ordered cod and they never put it in the bag! Watery curry sauce. Won't be going back again would give a lower rating if possible. So let down by them.

First visit. Very well organized for high volume service. Good Hake with a nice crispy batter. Not the cheapest, but you get what you pay for.

Got a 1/2 burger and cheesy chips here, good quality food, friendly staff and well priced.

Want give this a -5 star never going back again after messing my order up walked found out they didn't put my pie walked told them and didn't even say sorry that's ok they got a better chip shop at station Hill so will be going there for now on

After waiting about 20 min for food with no explanation of why I was waiting, I finally got my food (only 2 meals with sides) and realised that parts of the meals had been sat wrapped for 20 min under a heat lamp. I'm confused about how a charge of £1.20 can be made for a portion of beans. Even more confused when I watched it being spooned from a can of supermarket beans worth about 30p. Confused again about how those beans could have been heated from an open metal can, into a polystyrene tub (turns out they weren't heated but, in fact, cold). Definitely confused when I got home to find my portion amounted to a tablespoon of cold beans for £1.20. I feel ripped off and won't be returning.

Consistently good food. The queues at peak times say it all really! 5 stars would be for thicker batter, and slightly crispier chips, but seriously, that's not a complaint!

One of the best in the Chippenham area. Fresh, good and worthwhile if you've not visited before. Staff really accommodating and friendly. Good choice of items. Loved the cod and chicken and burger options.

I used to visit this chip shop regularly but the last couple of months I have not bothered so much as the price has gone up with smaller portions the food is much more greasier and the fish quite often is just bits put together and battered and on top of this you are now charged for the bag that you need to put the portions in and take away🤔

One of the worst kebabs I have ever had. Meat was greasy and well overcooked..dont even want to mention the "salad". The portion size was shocking. Ordered a large donner kebab but when it was presented it was so smal I had to order an extra portion of kebab meat to make the size up. So in total £9.10 for a disgusting kebab... Will not be back !!!!

Called a few chip shop to assist an elderly gentleman, who has no family and is very vulnerable. The lovely man I spoke to Tim at Langleys kindly helped him get some food. Honestly it makes me feel happy that the world is still full of kindness. Thank you very much Tim. God bless you😊

Sausage and chips on the way home from wavin. I'm normally a 'happy go lucky' kinda chap and greeted the attendant with the usual 'Good afternoon'(it was 2pm) I was taken a little aback when 'smiler' replied with 'not really, is it!' . Me, Errrrrrr. Smiler, glares at me...... Me, raises eyebrow. Smiler, and wot u want.... Me, in a meek voice. Sausage and chips please? Smiler, serves me with a fixed steely glare. Me, and how much is this wonderful experience? Smiler, grunts inegibly Me, hands over a tenner and leaves. Good Sausage and chips mind you. I may go back......

Ordered 2 balti pie's 1 was hot 1 was still cold as if it had just come out of the fridge, on a camp site, so did not take it back, but won't use again.

Used to be great, but now the chips are mostly undercooked. They've forgotten parts of my order on multiple occasions. The staff are becoming more rude and do not seem to care.

The food is great and service even faster, If you don't want KFC chicken just have the Langley Special trust me

Generally excellent fish snd chips, on this occasion fish was very dry and not flaking away as usual, batter very wet and oily not crisp, hope this was just an off day.

Great food and excellent portion sizes. If I had to criticise it'd be because we had to queue for a while and wait for our order.

The service was extremely fast, and the staff are very very friendly- and put just the right amount of salt and vinegar on my chips! The food was scrumptious and the portion sizes just right- i thought i was Goldilocks!!

I came in order chicken and mushroom pie and chip's the pasty on the pie was warm but the chicken filling was stone cold tried phoning no reply over priced

Popped in for fish and chips. They had no haddock only cod. I was given a piece of cod from.the warmer that had already been cooked. The staff were more interested in the TV than their only customer - me.When I got home the fish was flavourless and dry, it didn't appear fresh. The chips were just a soggy mass of potatoes. I don't consider it was value for money and was expensive.The dog however thought it was great as he got to.eat it when I gave up after a couple of mouthfuls.Much to my dog's disappoint I will definitely not be going back.

Great fish and chips every time! We travel over 20 mins to get these and we are never disappointed. It is clean, staff are friendly and the food is always well packed so it remains hot until we return home to enjoy. We will keep returning
