Unfortunately been today, the jacket potatoes where not the best . Had to return them. The second ones where just as bad, waxy, floury & skin very hard . Very disappointing for the price you pay . Manager was indifferent towards us .

Had a very lovely afternoon tea, nice selection of sandwiches, tasty sausage roll, nice scone, clotted cream, jam, nice selection of sweets. Was looked after, assistants were attentive, brought us extra tea, and hot water, which you want when having afternoon tea. Couldn't eat everything, nice assistant brought us boxes to put excess in to take away. Overall lovely experience.

I wrote a review about this place before, it clearly had gone downhill. The place looked sad, neglected the plants far too expensive. The previous owners dined out on their family heritage which gave the place some credibility but sadly it all seemed to fade into obscurity. The restaurant was bare and miserable, food not much better, staff on the most were surly. However my most recent visit(s), gave me much hope for this garden centre, I was dubious about it being taken over by British Garden Centres with their dull one size fits all approach to their garden centres, they have a lot of establishments now and very close by so I hope they cherish the individuality of this place and don't turn it into a yucky colour themed identikit version of the others with their nasty Christmas Bonanzas. But for now, the best bits were the farm shop, the excellent quality baking they produce and high standards. The plants were generally good quality, better prices for the average person. We didn't try the restaurant, I'm not really a fan of BGCentres food, it all tastes the same in my opinion. However the rest of the offering is much improved, the staff in the little side cafe were very happy, I thought they were going to break out into song, although on the second visit they looked a bit overwhelmed so please don't wear them out, give them another person to help out. I would recommend you visit, and give it a try, it's a much nicer environment and seemed much 'lighter' in atmosphere generally.

It’s the first time we have been since the take over. The cafe has always been amazing with excellent food, tasty, and great service, definitely not now. The ham and cheese ciabatta well where do I start, hit yes most definitely, tasty definitely not, it was a case of hunt the filling, dry, had to order from the smaller cafe side as well. Not good when your other meal comes from the main cafe. Steak pie, main crust with dry chips. Had to request more gravy as virtually none in it. Prawn sandwich more like shrimp, they had no taste whatsoever. The sandwich arrived in two half why carnt it be cut into 4. The sauce was very strong and overpowering. Chips dry. This place used to be fantastic, the food was always plentiful, tasty and very well presented not any more. Slung on the plate, small portions, dry and no taste. Staff lingering around with trolley waiting to gather your plates up. Will not be going back.

We stopped at the EV charger at Shiptonthorpe on our way back from a mini break. We noticed that Langlands garden centre was next to the Petrol station and thought it might be nicer than the Macdonald’s for a cup of tea. It proved to be a wonderful break on our journey home. The cafe staff were so lovely and friendly and could not have gone out of their way more to make us feel more welcomed and valued as customers. We had a proper pot of tea and a slice of cake as a ‘deal’. Dogs were welcome and the staff were so friendly and welcoming to us and our dog. We would definitely plan to use the EV charger at Shiptonthorpe on future journeys to the NE Yorkshire coast- in order to return to Langlands. We would also plan to have more than a cup to tea! Definitely recommend this if you need to break your journey or are staying in the local area.

They used to do a good selection of food, however on our latest trip, which happened to be a Sunday, the only meal one can purchase is Sunday lunch. Poor lack of choice and no real alternatives for vegetarians / vegans. Don’t waste your time going. Simple!

Langlands is such a great find. A lovely garden centre with great variety. A farm shop, dog friendly cafe, a proper restaurant, clothing department and gift/card centre. We had breakfast for the first time today. It was excellent. We ate in the cafe, which has some dog friendly tables. You have to order in the restaurant for a full breakfast and they bring it to your table. The produce was outstanding. The best cooked breakfast we've had in a long time The cafe also does sandwiches and delicious cakes. Well worth a visit if you are passing...... give yourself time there is so much to see.

It's not a restaurant. Morrisons cafe is far superior to this place. We ordered sausage and mash in large Yorkshire pudding with steamed vegetables. Got 3 small sausages, 2 of which were overcooked and rock hard on both meals. Steamed veg were a few bits of cauliflower and hard carrots which were frozen not fresh. Yorkshire pudding was also hard. Staff no problems in sorting out the issues. Meal returned 10 minutes later with an improvement on the sausages but had now got just a load of rock hard sprouts in place of the previous veg. The only decent item were the mash. Bear in mind this simple meal cost £12 each! Didn't have time to raise further issues and left. Think they get their customers like us that wanted something to eat while we were at the garden centre. Don't go as you will be disappointed and out of pocket.

Very disappointing. Pork was good. Roasts were burnt in places. Veggies were only parsnips and black carrot. I mean 1 blak carrot . Gravy was coloured water,no flavour and no texture. With a bit of thought some stuffing and perhaps apple sauce would have added a bit of sparkle to a very uninspiring meal. Husband had meat pie, hooray it had some pastry on. But was letdown by the watery gravy and the fact was told we don’t do mushy peas on a Sunday so why have them on the menu . Never again.awful

We came here to buy some plants for a professional client and were thoroughly disappointed with the attitude of the cashier called Victoria and the plant manager. The plants looked dry and in a bad condition and when we questioned this we were met with rudeness and terrible customer service. We understand that in the current circumstances it might be difficult with staffing and plant care but there is no excuse for treating customers with such low regard. On a more positive note, the guy in the outdoor plant area was very helpful and friendly so thank you to him!

I visited the new farm shop and was disappointed that they had not thought about social distances? We were waiting to be served at the main counter and people were waiting in the same area for the till. I am glad it wasn’t busy as it was difficult to social distance. I mentioned this on their Facebook page and they have removed my post and stopped me from being able to comment any more. I do hope that they rethink and maybe have an entrance and separate exit as this would improve the situation?

Saw a sign whilst waiting, and waiting, and waiting to be seated, even though there was only one party ahead of me, because the server prioritised taking money over getting me seated. It felt unfair, especially as there were dozens of empty tables nearby. Anyway, the sign proclaimed their wonderful new Columbia coffee. I consider myself to be a coffee connoisseur, and to me it was revolting and barely drinkable.£2.50 wasted and my stomach left feeling insulted. The Beef, Emmental and Caramelised Onion Mayo sandwich sounded good, but the reality was bland. Pre-sliced beef and Emmental slices in factory made sliced bread. Decent value at £5.45 but I wouldn’t choose again. In fact I won’t be coming here again. The overall experience was rubbish.

This is our local garden centre and over the years we have spent pounds in the cafe. Up until the last two visits in the last two weeks it has always been marvellous. All the Covid procedures were in place and followed to the letter. The staff worked very hard cleaning and clearing.Last week we called for lunch and I chose feta and olive salad, my husband scampi and chips, with coffees. The drinks arrived and were as expected, very nice. Then the food, scampi, chips, side salad, all very nice tho the side salad was very basic, in a dish, 3 small whole baby lettuce leaves, 2 chunks of tomato and big chunks of cucumber. The salad, a plate, covered in whole leaves of baby lettuces, a whole tomato quartered, some cheese chunks and olives then absolutely handful of red onions and then tonnes of croutons !This week, both had quiche, I asked for no chips just salad, my husband had it with chips and salad. Again, no better salad, what has happened? No cress, carrot, coleslaw , just plonked on a plate, lettuce, cucumber and tomato. £7.OO+Very disappointed , it always was a beautiful meal whatever you had.Has the catering management changed, if so it’s not for the better.

Our first visit to this gardencentre and won't be our last. We met up with some friends who wanted to show us the Christmas department and we were not disappointed!!!Lovely plants, safely laid out, friendly staff and Christmas was just incredible. We had planned to have a meal elsewhere but we were there so long we decided to eat in the restaurant. We didn't expect much as my wife and I are vegans but were pleasantly surprised to see there were options available for us. The place was very busy but after a short wait we were seated by a very pleasant young lady. The waitress who took our order explained that there may be a slight wait as the kitchen was very busy but the food was brought out in a reasonable time and it was delicious. So glad we have found this gem and we will definitely be back.

In these difficult times what a wonderful surprise. The restaurant is in a garden centre. Well worth a visit. The restaurant is efficiently run adhering to the current Covid regulations. The tables are well cleaned for guests and the waitresses are excellent. We had a lunch which consisted of sandwiches, a hot roll with roasted and a scone. Also wine and coffees. We all really enjoyed lunch in a pleasant atmosphere. We will be going again before Christmas as they are preparing for the festive season now. Probably before if we get the chance. Really appreciate the efficient way the restaurant is run. Thank you and our regards to all the hard working staff.

It sounds like we had a similar experience to 666kfm!Again, we have visited here on such a regular basis & have loved it-until the last couple of times. We did come a few weeks ago & found it extremely disappointing but we were up this way on business so thought we’d give it another go due to our good experiences. I can categorically say this will be the last time we EVER go to the cafe here!!We were waiting to go in to be seated, which absolutely no problem with the current situation, however it did appear we were pretty much invisible! Eventually we were seated & told someone would be over to take our order, we must’ve waited 20 mins before I had to ask a waitress to take our order as we were in a slight rush as we had a business appointment in York. Other people that had come in after us were served before us. Eventually our order was taken. We were then sat for a further half an hour waiting for our food, again because we had an appointment I asked the waitress how long it would be because we were on time scale. We’d both ordered the vegan burgers with cheese, chips etc & was told the burgers had to reach a certain temperature before they could be served... Huh?! It’s not meat! I’ve never heard this before! We were asked if we could wait another 15 minutes(making it 45 minute wait for them, in a near empty restaurant!). In the end we had to wave our white flag & leave. I saw the waitress & said we had to go as we’d waited long enough, had appointment etc & she herself said she’d never known anything like it! Even the beef burgers didn’t take that long! She did offer for us to take the meals with us & she did box them up & didn’t charge us.The lady who brought them over was very apologetic but also completely baffled as to what had happened.I can honestly say, if I’d have sat there for that long & be presented with what we had, plus had to pay for it!! It was horrendous!! The chips were stone cold, almost like chip shop chips, not their own chips & were vile, full of grease which left a very unpleasant taste in your mouth. The burger... wasn’t that great, zero vegan cheese & one soggy lettuce leaf. And we missed our business appointment. So all in all, total disaster & that is our final time there! A real shame.

We call in because of the lovely indoor set up that allows dogs, there is more than enough room in the main restaurant and the other very nice outdoor sitting area for other customers without dogs.So it's very frustrating when we can't have a table due to the doggy area being full with not a dog in sight and lots of tables in the main restaurant vacant? Please can staff not keep some tables free in the doggy area incase a dog owner turns up?after all it's our only place we can sit.Fair enough if the other areas are full but it's very frustrating having to leave because staff havn't thought the seating areas through when showing people to their tables.I would like to say though, the days we could have a table we were met with lovely staff doing the best they can in this awful time, but I have noticed when eating from the reduced menu which is not cheap, food portions are smaller than before "covid"and we have yet to have a correct order brought to our table, something always missing.Apart from being dog friendly I'm finding it increasingly harder to remain a loyal customer as we are finding cheaper places to eat at that are just as good.

We ordered two veggie breakfasts, you have to pay extra if you want toast, and had two coffees, it came to just over twenty quid, pricey? After twenty five minutes wait we asked where our food was, they’d given it to two meat eaters who had started it then realised it was veggie so sent it back. We had been watching other couples having issues but no one came and explained about any mix up even though they kept looking over at us seemingly trying to work out what had happened. The place was more or less empty and with around seven staff that we counted at least one should’ve said something! They did eventually offer us another coffee once we’d approached them and said food on way. After another almost ten mins we finally got food. It was awful, watery beans, inedible reheated hash browns, overdone eggs...we left most of it and left hungry, frustrated and way too much out of pocket.

Next to the toilets, the women's toilet had an awful smell in it, and there wasn't any toilet paper. The food here is very good, reasonably priced and there is usually a great deal of choice. The eating area is a bit daunting in that if one is sitting in the middle you feel as if you're in a goldfish bowl, but all in all its nice and the staff are friendly.

My wife and I stop here on passing from time to time. We usually have lunch. The menu is varied and there are plenty of specials to tempt the palate. The food is always good with substantial portions providing good value for money.

Dropped in on the way back from York. Nice little eating area at the back, clean and tidy with a nice selection of food.We had the soup of the day with a sandwich and coffee. Soup full of flavour and the sandwich filled to bursting in great fresh bread. A simple dish done very well.

Nice place for a wander around; I thought the Christmas section would have been bigger but there was some nice stuff. Staff were all over the place in the café and didn't seem to know what they were doing so the queue took a while to go down - food was ok but nothing special.

We like to do different things and travel to different places for bonfire night events and my partner spotted this and booked it. The bonfire and fireworks was great but I will have a polite moan about the food and drink options. I’m a vegetarian and unless I had chips or cheese skins that was me pretty much snookered. We’d enquired on the phone beforehand and given the impression that there would be various food stalls offering various options to cater for all. I ended up with a tray of chips and asking for bread roll to help bulk it out. It was tasty and filled me as I’m not a food snob despite how this reads-I just wish we’d known beforehand and I would have eaten properly elsewhere first. Also I think there should be a queue for drinks and one for food. Only leaving this review in the hope they use to to alter some practices to make next year go slightly smoother and quicker for some

Always call here before or after M62 motorway travel. Much cheaper and far better quality food. As far as garden centres go this is one of the best for quality food.

My husband ordered bacon and egg quiche, received cheese and onion, but my husband being him said it was OK. No crackling with the Pork dinner.Coffee cake was delicious but was Not the usual portion size, felt I was robbed.Perhaps new staff could do with a bit more training. We do come at least twice a week so I will be keeping my options open for a while and hope normal service will be resumed VERY SOON.

I went to the garden centre to meet my sister, nephew and his wife and new baby. We had rung to try and reserve a table but were advised this wasn’t possible, but as it turned out it didn’t matter because we secured a table for 7 with a little help from the staff in the cafe, who helped us put 2 tables together.

We visited the garden centre for a statue while we were there bumped into friends saw two nice tunic tops, saw a book for baby grandson, bought a little dog statue, good look at Xmas decorations and solar lights then felt hungry, plus the smell of food was amazing. We both had a full pork and crackling Sunday lunch, apple sauce, roast vegetables, roast potatoes and a huge Yorkshire pudding and plenty of gravy. We were stuffed but empty enough for lemon meringue pie and treacle tart! Came home and went to sleep, smashing Sunday, thank you. Toilets were very clean despite the amount of people in the place and the restaurant tables were always cleaned as soon as people left.

My daughter recommended this place to visit. Several times we have passed it on our way to my Daughter's house but, hadn't stopped off there. So this visit we did and I really liked it. It combines a farm shop, coffee shop, garden centre, restaurant and shop all in one experience.

Food was superb, really tasty and a good price. Was very, very busy though so leave enough time to queue. The quiche I wanted was all gone when I got to the front so arrive early or have a second choice ready! Quiche comes highly recommended. The cake looked amazing but I had no roo as the portions were good. You can buy a cake to take away from their garden centre shop though! Set in the grounds of a garden centre so leave enough time ne’er round the gift shop there too. Big car park.

My wife and I stopped here again after a number of visits , this time we tried the prawn sandwiches which were served with cheap tasting, poor quality prawns and no prawn sauce. At over £4 each we felt they were rubbish value for money. The chips are always nice.

Typical garden centre food - baked potatoes, salads, scones, cakes etc. Food is OK and reasonable priced. Dog friendly outside the restaurant in the greenhouse bit but it can get very warm in there. Overall OK if you in the area.

Usually a good stop but just paid £9.02 for a diet coke and panini. The panini was overcooked and tasted of nothing at all. I was so bored I opened it and found that any filling was on the edge that I first saw at the counter and then very little. I have mentioned it to the staff but nothing done. They hust sell more! So overpriced and barely edible. Very disappointed.

This was recommended by a (now ex) friend - stood in the slowest moving queue for 20 minutes, staff from the kitchen going past every minute or so with food or empty plates. Ordered three lunches at 12:15, then found a table. It is quieter in kings cross station! Food eventually arrived at about 1:00 - was ok but not brilliant and I could have cooked my own meal better and faster in the time it took to arrive.

Visited This Awful Cafe today with my Mother on our way to Beverley. We each bought a large Latte priced at £3.15 each. The hot drinks are dispensed from machines so its not Proper Coffee. The Latte had no Coffee taste it was just like warm milk! Awful! And it was too warm inside the cafe but i heard a customer had complained it was too cold so the air con was turned off. This cafe is too Expensive and tables left full of dirty crockery.I suspect it does have a loyal customer following however.I complained to a young man who was clearing tables but i did so in a friendly manner.Langlands Garden Centre itself is Great! But Management need to Review this cafe and Especially the Disgusting Latte!

Hi all. Called with a couple of friends today, 12th, march for a bit of lunch. It was about half full in the dining area. We found a nice quiet corner and made our choices. our order was taken at the till area & we paid for it. Our order was; 2, hot beef, white baguettes and chips, (no white so we had to have brown) They soon arrived but the beef was more or less cold, the chips even worse cool, soft & soggy, they had been cooked a long long time!! Our friends had a tuna sandwich with chips, & a salmon & broccoli quiche with chips. Their chips were no better than ours either! So all in all this time not good at all and its not cheap either. We wont be coming as regular now & maybe just have scones. (now they are always good if fresh).

Way overpriced for the environment, quality and service. Cold, noisy and like a school canteen. Slow service. For example a beef sandwich and chips was over £8. It was just a plain white bun with a slice of beef and some chips. No butter, no garnish. Collect your own cutlery sauces milk etc. Two portions of Three slices beef, parsnip fried with carrots....yuk and roast potatoes. All cold. Also a pie chips and peas. Three cold drinks £41. Just greed. Not going back

We waited an hour for eggs and toast. Owner only cared about Door Dash orders going out the door. Given that Courtenay has so many great casual dining places, give this one a pass. Give your business to restaurants that care about providing good service to their customers.

Went today for lunch , I decided i was having soup , they said it was the last portion so that was fine , I asked for no bread which , when it came it was the smallest half bowl of soup for £6.25 , I didn’t want anything knocking off for not having the bread but did expect a full dish, looking at the menu I could of had a small breakfast, or sandwich for about the same price , it’s soup where do they get over £6 for it!!
