Dropped in to Lanes on the way to the St Barbe museum on a Saturday lunchtime. It is located in Ashley Lane just off the busy High Street and is around a ten minute walk from Lymington Town railway station.

The Monkey House

11/05/2018: Hot dry sunny weather is always a good reason to give my MX5 a run in its favourite location, the New Forest, so I looked on the Internet for place for lunch before we left. The Monkey house seemed to have favourable reviews so that's what I picked.
31/01/2018: Popped in here for the first time while on way to New Milton. Judging from the outside we assumed that it was a pub. Quite surprised to find it to be more of a restaurant. Certainly no pub interior in the monkey house. Quite cozy though, with nice 70`s and 80`s music. Very friendly and attentive staff. We ordered starters only as we were in a hurry. Wifey had scallops and I had cajun chicken sandwich. All very tasty. Recommended.

Rose and Thistle

03/03/2018: Normally this is a very busy pub which reflects its popularity. However i and four friends called in just before the recent snow started oin a very cold day.we were the only customers except for one local gentlemanwho had braved the weather. Bouth the lounge bar and restaurant had roaring log fires and the staff were delightfully helpful. we all ate from the menu of the day that was surprisingly comprehensive. All our dishes were excellent especially the homemade steak and kidney steamed suet pudding which is a special house favourite. Really recommended on all fronts. In Summer there is a beautiful front garden. Parking is available at the back through a relatively narrow side entrance.
07/04/2018: We haven't been for a while and the pub was very busy. May be the pressure got to them. We were a party of 4 and arrived on time for our 12.30 table. People arriving after us were served well before us. The starters were...
