Lanes has an interesting and vegetarian friendly menu and a relaxed atmosphere in an unusual setting. The service was efficient and very friendly and the price was reasonable. We strongly recommend this restaurant and will return when next in Lymington

Visited the Lanes Lymington for a birthday celebration. The food was outstanding with attention to detail as was the service. The owner was extremely passionate about the restaurant and food. Would highly recommend as one of the best restaurants in Lymington.

Had a lovely dinner. scallops, prawns, monkfish and lamb - all superb. A confident chef, who does enough to the raw produce to make you feel special, but without it being about him. Best meal we had in Lymington all week, both in terms of food and service.

Excited by a return visit to this restaurant with friends, as our previous visit was outstanding in every respect, but this time we were disappointingly let down. The lamb dish ordered comprised one small cutlet, a third of which was fat served with a spoonful of mash potato and small chopped vegetables, so disappointing at an inflated price of £26.95. However, the Seabass dish was fine. The desserts were disappointingly small for the price paid which had shrunk considerably since our last visit, and coffee served in small cups was expensive too. Dining with friends, we chose not to make a fuss but the meal compared unfavourably with fairly local 5* restaurants that we regularly frequent offering larger portions at far less cost. Overall, our dining experience turned out to be poor value for money but on a positive note the owner did give us a friendly welcome with good service.

This restaurant is simply outstanding. Every year we go here whilst in Lymington, very good easy menu with solid flavorsome detail to steak, fish or Lamb. It just doesn't get any better. Its tucked away down an alley and is run by husband and wife. There is something for everyone and all the wines you could think of! Its a must! Devine, devine, devine!

A fantastic meal again at the Lanes, the quality of the Food and the Service is exceptional. Within our party we had a couple of people with specific dietary requirements, these were accommodated by the team and they delivered equally great food even though these were specific last minute requests. Great find, exceptional service, wonderful fresh food, good choice of wines, beers and alcohol free options. Starters were scallops and prawns also a crab starter, both delicious. Mains were a hake dish and a Sea bass dish, both were excellent. It was a little cold in the restaurant (January) but the owner kindly moved our table near to the fire so we were lovely and snug. I would definitely recommend The Lanes.

A fantastic evening was had by all. The service was impeccable. The food was superb and the evening DJ kept the party going till midnight. Particularly liked the personal touches and attention to detail with the service. Highly recommend and will return soon.

We attended the charity night on 24th October and had a lovely meal with warm and efficient service. The real surprise was a bottle lottery where a selection of bottles were hidden in white paper bags. It was explained that some were old bottles containing water (so that they all weighed the same), some were new bottles of wine and some were premium spirits. You only found out what you had after making a charity donation and then choosing a bag and opening it. Some did well, others just got a bottle of water but the real winner was Oakhaven Hospice who received the proceeds - a generous £960. Well done and thank you Lanes of Lymington.

This was a special evening for charity the food was awful supposed to be tia meal they had no idea how to cook this food We were a large table and the service was not coordinated A charity contribution was made for bottles of various liquids on opening what was labelled as wine it had already been opened and was filled with water, a con. Wont ever go there again

We ate at Lanes of Lymington for the first time last Saturday lunchtime. The food was tasty and the three course menu at £30pp was a bargain; however what sold the venue to us other than the quirky building was the exemplary service by the smiley waitress who looked after us. She was just wonderful 😃 Recommended.

Do give this restaurant a visit. Staff are welcoming and efficient, food is excellent - what more can you ask for!

Upon arrival we received a very warm welcome. All staff we met were very friendly, knowledgeable about the menu and professional. Each course was very tasty and well presentation. It was difficult to choose from the menu because there were several dishes we would have happily eaten. We would certainly recommended Lanes, in my view an exceptionally good experience.

Booked this lovely hidden away restaurant after looking at reviews for places to eat in Lymington. The staff were incredibly welcoming and the building is really interesting. The lunch menu was amazing value at £30 for 3 courses. My wife had a lovely pasta dish for starter and I had haggis bon bons with a lovely creamy mash. Main course followed and the fish I had was the best I've ever tasted. The food overall was superb, the staff friendly and it was an excellent experience throughout. Well worth a visit. You won't be disappointed.

We were so excited about going here having read the reviews. Sadly, we ended up very disappointed. The welcome was lovely but the food was poor. It was both bland and lukewarm. Sadly we will be going elsewhere for our last few nights in Lymington.

We picked Lanes on the basis of some good reviews and a very friendly lady who I met when I popped in a few weeks back (when it was closed) with a friend who remembers Lanes from when he was young and wanted to see if it was still around. The welcome, food and service were excellent. Some quite intriguing dishes on the menu (avocado cheesecake for example which was actually really good) but a very good standard overall. We had an early 6.30pm table & it was a bit quiet then but filled up from 7pm and was quite buzzing when we left. I'd also say it is very good value for money too. Would definitely return.

We’re staying in Lymington for a week and have eaten out in a different restaurant every evening. We’ve had a good meal every night but tonight was definitely the best. Lanes is run by the husband and wife team of Peter (chef) and Nicola (front of house). A really interesting menu, beautifully prepared and presented, and served with efficiency and friendliness. Very highly recommended indeed.

Just a lovely restaurant. The food is cooked and presented beautifully and the service and ambiance is excellent. Seafood gratin was superb, as was the coronation crab meat. Chump of lamb/beef medallions to follow. All exceptional. Would highly recommend.

Last night I enjoyed my usual excellent birthday dinner at Lanes. The menu is varied, with plenty of fish for my husband. Friendly service, and beautifully presented food. If it's your birthday (notify before) you will get a pretty birthday platter after your dessert - such a nice touch even if you are feeling pretty full! It's a husband and wife team, and they work very hard to make your evening a good one.

Hidden gem well worth the walk up the hill. Fabulous food and excellent service, a real gem of a place. We had fish based meals, all tasty, delicately balanced and beautifully presented finished off with a Caribbean medley of mini desserts, just lovely!

We were recommended Lanes for a special couples dinner, and were absolutely delighted with the experience. The building is quirky and manages to be both grand and intimate.
