Never, ever visit here, disgusting food and overpriced. Owner is horrible and speaks to her staff like something she stepped on.

Absolutely the pits !! Shameful place .AVOID Out of date teabags on the counter from years ago !!! . Dirty . Very rude old lady speaking to her staff like dirt. The place needs reporting and shutting down

We visited today after being told they had new staff and it had improved and I couldn't believe it. The blonde lady working in the kitchen was absolutely lovely, nothing was too much trouble even though it was busy. Young girl behind the counter was friendly, coffee was great and the food was hugely improved. I am happy to pay for great service and it certainly was that. Well done! We will certainly be back.

Me and a friend visited for a coffee and what an experience. An older lady who I assume was the manager was simply awful to her 2 young staff. Barking orders across the cafe, speaking to them both like crap, patronising the young girl about her break infront of customers, being rude to the young lad working for her and he simply looked terrified of her. The toilet facility was also disgusting, dirty toilet bowl, dirty floor, dingy light so had to use the torch on my phone to see. My advice is to her 2 staff members: Get out and find somewhere else to work, a manager should never speak to you in that way.

Ordered 3 meals. All were awful. Potatoe pie , peas & gravy was without doubt worst thing I've tasted in a cafe. Daughter in laws toastie came without salad, when enquired was told ' Ran out ( was only 12.30)', I said ' it's fine, please reimburse '. ' No, definitely not' got told !!. Grandsons double cheeseburger with extra bacon was disgusting. Staff were rude.Except young lad working there. Horrible, dirty place. I've been trying to ring for no of owner. No answer. It's not cheap. It actually needs closing down it's that bad. Avoid.

Do not let recent reviews fool you!!! Most likely written as a ploy to drag people into this awful place. Visited with my 2 year old son and definitely will not be back. The place is dull and drab at first glance. My food was cold and overpriced. Also found a hair in it which is utterly appalling. Everything is cooked in a microwave!! I know this because the kitchen is all open, in which you can see how dirty it also is. An older lady who I presume is the manager, was bossing young girls around, not giving any praise nor encouragement to actually want work for her. The way she spoke was terrible, ranting and raving at a girl who looked no older than 17. It made for an awkward atmosphere. Will definitely be going elsewhere next time.

I usually check reviews before visiting places and noticed this cafe had quite a lot of bad reviews... but I wanted to see things for myself, I came in and instantly was amazed by how clean the cafe looked, staff were fantastic and hard working, I ordered fish chips and peas and a cappuccino, yes a bit pricy but the quality surely made up for it! It is clear that this small cafe must of gone down hill in the past due to the bad reviews but now it has seemed like it has turned itself around drastically! lovely atmosphere, lovely customer service, Will be returning and anyone who thinks this cafe should be a hit and miss should really come back and see the change for themselves!!!!

Called in for a cuppa of tea after work with my partner before going to see gp, we ordered what we wanted and has the girl was make my toasted t-take a older lady who I presume was the boss shouted down to the girl who was in the cooking area don’t stand there doing nothing get some pots washed, the girl said to her I’m making a toasted t-cake and the boss said well do something while your waiting n when you have done you can sort some potatoes out for tomorrow because I will have to make 2 pies has you not made any today, all this was not spoken quitley but rather loudly, there was only me and my partner in at the time and I though any wounded no one is in if that’s the way they speak to staff and I’m sure if that if she spoke to me like that I’d of told her to stick her job where the sun don’t shine

OMG I’ve never been to such a dump in all my life! Table dirty when I walked in and had to ask for it to be cleaned, I should have just walked out and boy I wish I had because it didn’t get any better. Young waitress was rushing around looking absolutely petrified of the owner who spoke to the young girl like dirt on more than one occasion. I wanted to get up from my seat and put her in her place but refrained. The food was cold and definitely not freshly cooked, this is probably one of the reasons why you have your shocking food hygiene rating. I definitely won’t return to this hovel and with a bit of luck shoppers will stay away and the place will close. What goes around comes around and from what I’ve heard and witnessed the owner is a bully who has obviously been bullied herself because to treat her staff the way she does is not normal management ways. Shoppers if you have any sense there are lots more places in town that serve decent food with a friendly service that don’t exploit staff making them work in horrendous conditions illegally

Me and my partner visited the tea rooms as we wanted a quick bite to eat inbetween Christmas shopping. Well, I wish I hadn’t!!! Waited nearly an hour for a pie that was cold in the middle, and peas that looked like they’d been sat there for days. I felt ill after so they probably were... By then the coffee had gone cold and had no offer of another. Everywhere looked dirty, environmental health should really take another look at this ‘establishment’. I rarely write reviews, but this was particularly bad and wouldn’t like anybody else to suffer at the hands of this horrible cafe.

This place needs closing down!! The manager is the main problem with this place, she is a horrible woman. I have had friends work here and all of them have spoken about her in bad terms. Everything is frozen and not ‘fresh’ as advertised. She tries to refuse pay when you leave, never known a manager speak to staff/customers as awful as she does. Witnessed her shout at staff in front of customers before, which is completely humiliating. Does not give proper breaks, and doesn’t offer holiday pay, both which are illegal. You only have to glance to see how dirty the kitchen area is. If you have any respect for food service workers, do not give this place any business!

I spoke to the manager today who was absolutely diabolical, the way she speaks to her staff is absolutely atrocious and after a few of my friends who have worked for her, spoke about her in unglowing terms, I decided to give it a go, please avoid this cafe at all costs, not worth the money you pay for the food and just to let anyone know, if staff get annoyed with the way that the manager speaks to said staff and decides they do not want to be spoken to like trash, the manager then decides she is going to withhold pay, doesn’t sound very decent of her does it??

seen recent reviews some of which are not too complimentary, you speak as you find. been in here several times, and whilst not the cheapest on some meals it has always been clean, with my experience of swift service all of who have made you feel welcome. Very good cup of tea, variety of meals and has always been a pleasant pit stop..

Have been before and been ok, but today, we ordered sausage egg and chips, and the better halve had the homemade potatoe and meat pie, and peas, after 30 minutes we asked what was going on? Still no food, After being in the café for over 35mins, they came and said they where sorry, and offered us a drink each. It took over 40 mins to deliver our food, which is ridiculous Every one who left, got a thank and please come back comment. We left and nothing, so we will never come back again!!!!!

Had something to eat this morning, cannot recommend ordering the eggs, the cook had never heard of an egg sunny side up, it came to me over cooked with the rest of the food. Although the two young ladies were tidy in appearance and the cafe was clean. I am not fussy but surely the people who surve there should know how to do certain things.

If i knew about the rating of 2.5 i never would have gone. I ordered a steak pie peas and gravy, the gravy was luke warm, steak pie pastry was doughy was only just cooked i also ordered a tea which was awful like piss water, got severe heartburn having the meal staff wasn't helpful, bad customer service wouldn't recommend will not visit again

We were out shopping and decided to have a 'shoppers breakfast'. We were pleasantly surprised at the very reasonable cost. The food was good too.

We took my parents here for lunch last week as they struggle with mobility and it was easy to reach from the disabled spaces in the Arndale car park. My sister and mother had recently been for lunch and commented how nice it was. As I recall it said all the food was home made. My husband is intolerant of dairy and egg. On ordering our meals he asked for the Lancashire hotpot for himself and informed of his allergies. He was told by the lady behind the counter she didn't know if this dish complied so she asked the lady in the kitchen and she didn't know either, so they went and asked the owner who said it was bought in and had cheese on top. A no go, then. Whilst my mother was happy with her chosen dish the other 3 of us weren't that impressed, especially with the staff's lack of knowledge on allergens which is quite a hot topic at present. They also gave the impression of not being that concerned which was a very poor attitude to have. The four meals also weren't presented together with a good few minutes between the first and last two meals. We won't be returning.

The staff really pulled out all the stops for our party. The food was good and nicely presented. The coffee was decent, in fact I would say it was better than some well known establishments.

My husband and I were looking for somewhere to meet up for a coffee before I started work. we decided to try the Arndale Centre as we were convinced there would be a nice little café. the only café we could see was the Lancashire Tea rooms which actually looked ok. we ordered coffee and decided to try the Victoria Sandwich which looked on the surface really nice. I hold my hand up though as I should have asked if it was real cream. when I started to eat the cake it tasted of washing up liquid my hubby gave me his fork in case it was that. Nope it was definitely the cake as my husband said his was the same. I went to the counter to tell the girl who was lovely and apologised and asked me if I would like something else I declined because I had a horrible taste in my mouth. when we finished our coffee my husband took the cake back to pay the bill when the boss or owner shouted what is wrong with it. I went over and explained and asked her to try it which she did and said this is how it always tastes (very loudly) after a few words we left after paying the whole bill and being embarrassed in front of other customers which to be fair was only a couple. we will find somewhere else to meet up in future.

After a shopping trip we decided to have lunch in the tea rooms. I had a tuna melt panini. The tuna however must have been pre mixed with mayo!! Wouldn’t have thought it was a good idea warming mayo? The side salad was lovely and fresh. My husband had potato pie and peas. It looked bland and it was. Won’t be back.

I didn’t believe my friend when he said not to go cause it looks so nice from the outside.

Came here with my little boy. The high chairs where disgusting and filthy. The staff where there for a wage and that was clear. I know from owning my own cafe how important customer interaction is. When the food came I was served rotten chips. They where literally black inside. I went to the toilet which is right at the side of the kitchen and it was obvious to see just how dirty the place was. The freezer was in full view with all the pre cook food waiting to be heated up. I laughed when I read a sign in the bathroom saying how they would like to know if the bathroom wasn't clean enough. It was disgusting. No wonder Accrington is dying if this is what's on offer

Disgusting amount of food for outrageous prices I ordered a jacket potatoe it came the size of a ping pong ball with a tiny bit of tuna with a few specks of sweetcorn on top husbands chips were the chip ends of a frozen bag ordered two slices of bread which they have no idea what to charge tried to charge toast prices if we wanted it toasted we would have asked the tea is NOT Lancashire tea bags these are round not square they were cheap tacky tasteless ones the amount of food sent back or left was unbelievable

I came here with my friend hoping for a nice afternoon sandwich with a cup of coffee.

Once again had a very nice lunch in the Lancashire Tea Rooms & More, we were served by a lovely young waitress whom was lovely and friendly. The food is homemade and a very good choice on their large menu, the tables have always been very clean when we have been there. At the front of the cafe there is a nice tea, coffee area with comfy seating. Enjoy

We visit Accrington about once a month. This café is located around the corner on the way to/from the car park. We called in just for a drink which was fine. Service was efficient and friendly: for other customers too. I note other people's negative comments but our experience was positive. As a bonus the café has a Thornton's franchise

Fuimos a Accrington no es un lugar que suele ir, pero tenía un lugar específico para ir. Llevé a mi hija aquí para comer panqueques salados ordenados, para mi hija y para mí algo diferente pensé. Dios mío, tuvimos que esperar unos 40 minutos. Mis hijas se suponía que iba a ser el queso y el jamón, pero sólo teníamos queso y estaba muy preparado, pidió dos veces menores a 2 miembros del personal sin respuesta. Yo todavía estaba esperando la mía. 10 minutos más tarde llegó mi panqueque, que era muy bueno, pero tuve que rápido mi papas fritas. Cuando pregunté por tercera vez sobre el jamón para hijas la chica no sabía pancake qué hacer. Hablaré con mi jefe. La mujer en cargos no podía ser molestado a hablarme muy grosera falta de servicio al cliente. Cocina de la abuela en vez de ir a que es donde iré la próxima vez que visite.

Estado aquí unas cuantas veces tenía gambas y pidió la tártara salsa tártara no tienen salsa. Yo tenía un montón de cebolla y queso tarta de queso patatas pero no mucho. Entonces pedí con plátano y toffee panqueque en el menú como banana y toffees y nos dieron chocolate y banana y me dijeron que eso es lo con plátano y toffee fue el pancake era difícil que literalmente no podía cortar con un cuchillo! Me preguntaron si quería otro dije que no. No disculpa de la directora, quien estaba en los salones de té en el tiempo y se apresuró a la parte de la cocina para ver lo que había enviado de vuelta. Y la comida totalmente ignorantes no aptos para el consumo. A la izquierda sin excusa y no reembolso he sido chef por 30 años y nunca le sirven como basura! Atención al cliente 0 / 10 La ignorancia 10 / 10!

Después de haber visitado en varias otras ocasiones y estar a bien hoy los bocadillos eran deliciosos, un personal atento y un buen ambiente y un montón de clientes sin duda volveré más a menudo ahora

I live in Accrington and have recently noticed Lancashire tea with a thorntons and decided to have a nip in it was very clean and the girls seemed to keep cleaning. One young girl was cleaning in the kitchen in a school uniform which I thought was very generous of the owners to train the next generation how to really run a cafe the main manger (I think ) was quite young herself and was very kind with me and my husband was offering us condiments and extra milk and water the food was quite expensive but a great service non the less

I stopped by this cafe on my travels with my husband, and I must say it is a very pleasant place. The staff are very polite and the cafe was clean and tidy.There was a small blonde girl cooking and cleaning. And another girl serving cakes and making cups of tea and coffees, she was a well spoken young women when serving me at the counter.The little blonde girl brought our food over and it looked fantastic, ham salad and a tuna jacket potato, very fresh, thumbs up to the girl.Me and my husband will definitely be visiting again, recommend Lancashire Tea Rooms to people who want a friendly environment :)

Este café ha ido cuesta abajo. La planta es siempre sucia y las mesas son pegajosas y desordenados. Los bocadillos que tuvimos eran horribles, seco y sin sabor. Mi marido tenía una cantidad de mayo en enfermizo y tuvimos que dejar parte de ella. El personal no es muy complaciente: nadie nos trajeron cubiertos o azúcar. El Té es bueno y te lancs conseguir un buen tamaño - pot pero no había limón disponible, que no debería suceder en un así llamado tearoom. No todo el mundo puede beber leche. Que realmente necesitan sacar sus calcetines. Podría ser mucho mejor.

We regularly visit Accrington wily as my elderly mother likes it as it isn't over crowded. We visit the tea rooms every time we are ther, we don't generally have a problem with the food, but the service from the young staff is disgraceful, I...

Visiting Accrington March 2016, we saw the Lancashire Tea Room and thought we would have lunch there looked a nice...

Sorry, but this place is rapidly going downwards, it used to be ok, nothing special but a nice little cafe. We were the only ones in but the service is a bit slow and the food was nothing special. The place smelt and felt greasy and dirty, needs a really good clean I think but think its just run by kids, who have to serve the Thorntons Chocolates as well as serve at the counter. The prices weren't cheap either, in fact they were more expensive that the Costa Coffee just round the corner but nowhere near their standard. What spoilt it though for us was the way the owner of the cafe, (a very large women who was checking all the stock of her Thorntons chocolates!) began speaking/shouting to a young girl at the back who was cleaning up, she was raising her voice and speaking really badly to her about her cleaning, oblivious that we could hear, she sounded a real tyrant and right bad tempered witch!, no wonder the place is going downhill, because no one wants to work in those conditions, I'd have walked out if she'd spoken to me like that, just hope that young girl finds another job very soon, because the big woman will knock her confidence right out of her if she's not careful. This ruined it for us, the atmosphere was terrible, going to Costas next time, nice friendly service and the standards are better and cheaper.

This tearoom has gradually gone downhill. Poor service, very slow, no customer interaction. It's almost as though you are troubling them actually wishing to be served. Chipped cups and chipped teapot spout arghhhh, food hygiene !!!!!! Cold toast with the most disgusting margarine that is slapped in the middle of the bread. Come on you can do better.

I'm a great lover of Lancashire Tea and I would love to be able to say this is the best place to find it but sadly cant...Been in several times but my goodness they are very slow on service. One pot of tea ordered 15 minutes later it arrived. Now I work for a living so time is limited so tea breaks...The idea of a Lancashire Tea room actually in Lancashire is excellent but this business is hardly a great reflection of our county.Please shake the staff up a bit as I would love to see this business grow serving Lancs tea.Anyhow the actual pot of tea was up to Lancashire specification when it finally arrived.

Could not fault the food although perhaps portions could be larger. However, the overall experience was spoilt by staff. One higher member of staff shouting at another waitress in the middle of service was very unprofessional. This appeared to distress the young waitress who's service I could not fault. The attitude of this member of staff made the ambiance of the place incredibly awkward and at this point I felt it appropriate to leave. This is a shame as all other staff were polite and helpful.

I found this place to be very expensive for what it is. Basically, it is a small cafe in the Arndale charging top dollar for mediocre food.

Going to make this short. The food was overpriced for how below average it tasted. The service was slow, inefficient and totally impolite. Never again.

Lancashire Tea Rooms positioned in the Arndale Centre are as convenient as it gets. Nice wholesome food a good prices. Great home made soups and a good breakfast. Always worth a call.

I used to use this in it's old location but thought I would give it a try this week as I was visiting Accrington.I opted for the pea and ham soup usually a favourite of mine. What a let down it was a tiny bowl and the soup had carrots and veg in a first for me. I think they must have been left over from the broth it was very salty and must be so as I like my food quite salty. It came with a small roll and no smile.Was it worth £3 plus no I don't think so.The cafe is open plan and resembles a down at heel canteen with staff that are lacking an all important customer care course.There are other places to eat, although Accrington is not buzzing with them.

home-made food, good quality, excellent value,have visited many times for lunch, all the home made specials are very good,apart from the large yorkshire with roast beef, the beef I had was "cooked meat"warmed up with gravy -rather rubbery as was the yorkshire. GIven the quality of the other meals on offer I expected braised beef.

Not the same ambience as it used to have more open. Food still as good, both had a breakfast. Not cheap but the food is good, the service excellent and it is clean! To be noted they don't use a PDQ machine so you will have to pay in cash.

..when my wife and I visited Lancashire Tea Rooms in Accrington Arndale. First the good point - it was clean. But the food was expensive for what it was - my jacket potato was tiny with no butter and a small portion of chilli. Not many pieces of scampi for the missus and her chips/peas were tasteless. And don't get me started on my pot of tea - obviously brewed with the poorest quality teabags available. Where I live, over 14 quid for two small cafe meals and two drinks is expensive.
