Lam's in Sefton

Tonight's search for the perfect chippie took me to Lams, Carr Meadow Hey. I've got to ask why chippies seem to find it so difficult to make edible chips and Lams didn't disappoint. I ordered my usual meal of steak and kidney pie and chips, oh yeah I asked for a sausage for my dog. When I got them home and put them on the plate I can only say that the chips were awful, on a par, or even worse than Peep's. After picking out the crisps, bits and even chips still with the peel on I was barely left with enough chips to go on a small plate. On the plus side, the pie was nice. Oh yeah.... the sausage, the dog wouldn't touch it. The search goes on.

Lovely staff with lovely food to match. Great portion sizes and the chips are soft and fluffy. Also great value for money. Great little chippy!

A great Chippy with good food and efficient staff, very friendly, good telephone ordering service, not always great to walk in and wait at busy times tho, but that shows the popularity of the place if you have to wait half an hour

Go here quite regularly but tonight food not that good fried rice no flavour very bland (no soy sauce) salt and pepper fish disgusting coating was soft fish was like jelly and no flavour not nice at all shame really also the chips tasted burnt (like warm ups) unfortunately not good waste of money really because most of it went in the bin

Absolutely gorgeous 😍 Nicest chippy I've had I ages. Got the salt & pepper box B. Came with salt and pepper chips, chicken, chicken wings, sui mai, ribs ,spring rolls and fried rice with sauce. It was all lovely and it was massive too. Generous portion and good value for money. Owners are very friendly. Think I'll skip fat club this week though 😂

Had a beef curry from Lams 1st time I've been there and will definitely be going back the meal was gorgeous, staff serving really friendly and pleasant.

Bit of a drive for us but we'll worth the effort, food is excellent and always great service

One of the best chip shops around. I used to go a lot to this chippy when I lived around by it. Now go now and again when I see my daughter and grandchildren. The meals are lovely we have had loads of different meals all were fab.

Food is hot & lovely. Best chippy around in my opinion. Staff are lovely & you can have a chat with them. She also remembered what your past order was & asks you if you want it again.

Ordered a chicken and ham omelet, received a ham omelet but it was propa nice though.

It's always a good day knowing you are getting lam's. The staff are amazing and is fine pretty fast.

This chip shop is one of the best in the world. The chips are different from a traditional chip shop. So dont be expecting crispy sea side chips, expect delicious soft chips. The rest of the menu is insanely good. All fresh and cooked with years of experience. I highly recommend the sausages. Rather than usual frozen awful sausages you find in every chip shop in liverpool and the UK. These are proper butcher sausages, they are incredible and always cooked fresh when you order. The staff have been here for a very long time. I remember visiting Lams, over 30 years ago and they still remember me when i don't visit for years at a time (due to moving away). A must try place!!

The staff where lovely an friendly but I didn't enjoy the food but that's my personal taste nothing against these.

Just got a chicken omelette from her, it was the worst meal I've had it was sloppy and under cooked. I put it in the bin

Love their chicken fried rice never Been disappointed, always busy which is a good sign.

Never had a bad meal here, good selection always good. Chips and fish always fresh and white. Best to ring ahead as gets very busy.

Although there are many different beers available that one has me fixed

Not really familiar with the area so I'm a bit of a stranger however I randomly came across this chippy this evening and I'm so bloody glad I did. Only wanted something snacky so ordered a portion of salt and pepper chicken wings and they where simply delicious! plenty of flavour in them and the chicken was so fresh I just wanted to go back for more. Quite cheap at 3.50 for a portion to so I'm gutted I didn't get 2 portions. Be definitely returning next time I'm in the area

I went here tonight and the chef catered to my vegetarian needs!! Amazing lovely food and the staff were just the kindest I will definitely be coming back it is the best chippy I've been to in a long time !! 🌼

Used to go here years ago and completely forgot about it until someone recently mentioned it. Now we’ve been here every weekend for the past 3 weeks and got something different every time (apart from the salt n pepper chips cos they’re boss). The Singapore fried rice is the best I’ve ever had! Proper spicy like, so you might have to pick a few chillis out (or just ask for less if hot food isn’t for you). If you’re looking for a decent chippy, then you’re gonna have no issues here and I guarantee you’ll be back for more!

Just spent 17 pound in this place ,the lot went in bin , sweet sour chicken was slop ,salt pepper chips worst I've ever tasted ,same with salt pepper chicken ..every piece same size so not fresh frozen,, got to say worst chippy food I've ever had

Had to cancel an order due to a family emergency. It was a large order so I understand how that is inconvenient and frustrating, however I do not expect to be called and screamed and sworn at down the phone. Absolutely disgusting.

Food here is lovely, dosent matter wot u try its just lovely. I love the chicken dinners in there. The staff in there are very friendly & have a chat with you.

Used to have the "occasional" friday treat from there when worked on a golf course near there. The chicken nuggets where like big fluffy clouds - you needed a snooze after a portion of them.!!😊

Really nice chippy. The parking is alright just park at the front or on the curb. Variable options and quite nice food. The atmosphere is quite calm, but sometimes it can be quite busy.

Absolute stinker this gaffe. Worst chippy Iv ever been to. I got a beef satay and got a fatty beef in gravy. She got salt and pepper chicken balls and what she got was soggy burned chicken and peppers. The ribs were just fat on a bone with a terrible sauce. I seen these reviews and thought yea sound I'll go for that. Instead the dog even turned his nose up at it and I ended up eating 4 spoons chocolate pillows feeling ill and going to bed without my leg over. Fuming aswel because that's my dead cert night. So if you wanna ruin your sex life eat here.

Me and my boyfriend go to Lams at least once a week and wouldn't go anywhere else for an English/Chinese take away! 100% recommend the chicken curry, it's to die for!

I'm a regular at this Chippy I know the staff by name and they know mine. very friendly staff and the food is boss . I always get what I call the treble. A fish supper/ large sausage / and meat pie/ and a Diet Coke I usually visit 3-4 times per week the prices are competitive and only a short drive from my house I would recommend this Chippy unless I'm dining on a kebab but that's a whole different review A happy happy customer Steve from netherton

Food is excellent from here. The fish and chips is lovely, the chinese meals are noce and you can get small meals which is good.

Boss's chippy ususaly no complaints, ,but , The few peas we got with our pie dinners was AWFUL. Hope this was unusual. Still a good chippy tho
