The venue is gorgeous, it is a real old pub. The service was great too, very friendly staff. The food (Sunday roast), not so good. The potatoes tasted old, the sirloin steak which they say comes pink was great and dry. The gravy tasted like that supermarket powder thing. I am putting 2 stars, not 1, because the Yorkshire pudding was good and the dessert was alright.

A real British pub with loads of history, great pub fare, great atmosphere and terrific beer! A real Jem! When you are in Covent Garden you have to try The Lamb and Flag! The Sunday roast was delicious, and a pint or two of Fullers London Pride ale was so smooth, I can’t wait to have another. The staff was super friendly, and it’s great to go to a pub frequented by Charles Dickens!

I wanted to take my partner to a true British Pub. This place had all the features and feel of one for sure. Upstairs is where you sit to eat, pretty cool bar and seating area, we got a seat by the window overlooking the alley, pretty cool views. We waited for someone to come ask us for drinks for over 10 minutes. I literally was about to get up and walk to bar to give me our orders when someone came. Since we had so much time we already knew our orders, unfortunately all 3 dishes we picked were out of stock, lamb? Lamb in London? You're out? The shepherds pie was gone as well, really? It's early on a Friday night and they are out of stock on food? So we were left to pick 3 other dishes and all of them were horrible, now I know why those were still in stock. I would go back for a pint, but eat somewhere else.

While I consider paying £11 for a small plate part and parcel of eating in the west end (at the end of the day we all have to cntribute to the extortionate rents), I think this place should reconsider if they should call "Crispy slow cooked brisket & Cheddar nuggets served with mustard mayonnaise & a pickled gherkin salad" to what appears (still untouchd) on the picture attached and then charge £11 i.e. £2.20 per nugget .The line between "expensive" and "pisstake" is not as thin or blurred as many business owners would like customers to believe.

Only small downfall is that we had a small table and it felt a bit claustrophobic as there's not much space between tables, so you are very close to other customers. Chairs could be a bit more comfortable too. However, It was a very enjoyable experience and we will return on our next visit to London

Not mad, just disappointed and confused. We had a reservation, got seated, only to wait 15 minutes at the table looking over the menu before a staff member approached us. She asked what we wanted to drink and informed us of all the items they were out of—including the one appetizer and main course (beef pie) we had planned to order. Having spent that time deciding, we now had to rethink our choices from a limited menu. She apologized, adding that numbers were much larger than expected this year and how she knows this because “she’s in charge.” We started with the tomato soup, which was the highlight of the meal and the reason this review isn’t a single star. However, things went downhill from there. While eating our soup, we noticed a couple who arrived after us being served two beef pies—the very dish we were told was unavailable. At first, we thought they must’ve pre-ordered these online. Nope. This continued throughout the evening as we watched at least eight other pies being served. It was baffling and frustrating, to say the least. Why did she tell us they were out? Side note: One beef pie even came up the conveyor lift from the kitchen looking, as the server laughingly told the customer as she served him it, “like it was thrown around the loo a couple times.” What the customer didn’t see, but I did, was the server attempting to clean up the pie’s appearance by using a blue paper towel from the bar counter before delivering it. Not on the plate—on the pie itself. This lack of professionalism and cleanliness was astonishing. The main dishes were underwhelming. The fish & chips were good, but the salmon dish was dry, lacked flavor, and came with poorly cooked potatoes and a lackluster balsamic “reduction.” Adding to the disappointment was the service. While eating, we watched staff turn away numerous customers from a half-empty room due to “upcoming reservations,” leaving those patrons visibly confused. Spoiler alert: no reservations filled those tables. If you don’t have the capacity to serve due to staffing, tell people that. One server struggled to communicate this unavailability to a non-English-speaking guest, eventually turning away without resolving her confusion. I stepped in to translate what he tried to communicate for her, and though it was greatly appreciated by the customer, my assistance was neither acknowledged nor appreciated by the staff. To top it all off, when asked how our food was, we honestly replied, “Alright.” We then questioned the availability of the beef pies, pointing to a nearby table enjoying them. The server laughed and admitted the kitchen had managed to make more but didn’t care to inform us. She tried to blame it on poor timing, but that’s just not true considering the table arriving after us receiving their pies before we received our food. This lack of communication and blatant lying felt dismissive, especially since we had clearly expressed our disappointment earlier. We left the service charge on the bill, though it wasn’t deserved. The entire experience was unorganized, uncommunicative, and underwhelming, despite the other promising reviews. Unfortunately, we won’t be returning or recommending—regardless of whatever showful reply we get about wanting to “make it up to you if you’ll let us.”

Been coming here just before Christmas for around 20 years with my rugby club for Christmas carols. A traditional, joyous event which many of the pub’s other customers used to love singing along with, filling everyone with seasonal festive cheer. Tonight however, just as we were launching into a full rendition of Good King Wenceslas, some officious killjoy goon strutted up in a high-viz jacket and rudely interrupted us, informing us that singing carols is now not permitted. The luminous grinch employed by the (presumably) new landlord was under strict orders to put a stop to Christmas. Such a shame. This used to be the go-to pub in Covent Garden. Now a miserable, soulless and joyless place. Probably one best left to the tourists that are superficially impressed by the history. For Londoners, there are 1001 better nights out.

If you only have time to visit one pub during your stay in London, make it the Lamb and Flag. This historic gem in the heart of Covent Garden offers not only an authentic atmosphere but also a taste experience that lingers long after the last bite. Environment and atmosphere Lamb and Flag breathes history and tradition, with its wood panelling, cozy nooks and crannies and a charm that feels both timeless and genuinely British. It's the kind of pub where you can imagine literary giants like Charles Dickens sitting and writing. The friendly staff and lively yet relaxed atmosphere make it a perfect stop for locals and tourists alike. The food We tried the classic Beer Battered Haddock & Chips, and it was undoubtedly one of the best we've tasted. The crispy, golden fry wrapped the fish perfectly, and the thick, crispy fries were a dream in themselves. For dessert we couldn't resist two of the pub favourites: Sticky Toffee Pudding and Warm Chocolate Brownie. Sticky Toffee Pudding was pure delight – just the right amount of sweet, gooey and served with a silky smooth sauce. The brownie was warm, rich and chocolatey, the perfect end to a perfect meal. Summary The Lamb and Flag is more than just a pub – it's an experience. Here, London's history, charm and genuine food culture meet in a wonderful symphony. If you're looking for a pub that truly represents the best of London, this is the place to go. We can't think of a better place to spend an evening!

Visiting the restaurant left the warmest memories. The atmosphere here is simply magical: cozy interior, soft light, live music create a sense of celebration. Service at the highest level - attentive and friendly staff instantly responds to any requests. The chef of the restaurant is definitely a master of his craft. One can feel his love for cooking and desire to surprise guests. I will come here again

Very good place for dinner, centrally located, good service. We ate pizza and salmon, all very delicious.

We had such a lovely time at Wildwood Covent Garden’s yesterday. We had just seen Matilda and were turned down for a table for 5 at a number of nearby restaurants. Stumbled across this restaurant who could accommodate us plus a coeliac child! Bonus that the kids from Matilda were sat right next to us! They were also fab with the children and couldn’t do enough! Really good value for money and tasty Italian food! Thank you!

Hello from Texas, came through this place late one night with my wife and friends and the owner was there to make sure they took great care of us, beautiful art on the walls and the pizza was phenomenal. Don’t miss this place
