Not much I cam say really, unfortunately brought Panda Jr with me and under 18s aren't admitted. It was daytime midweek but from a drinkers point of view, no kids is a great rule. The barman said we could sit outside and going outside revealed no fur iture on the street whatsoever. Tables or chairs. Legend has it Dickens liked to drink here so from that point of view, it's a must for any visitor to London. A nice gloomy interior is tailor made for a solid day's drinking. Have at it.

The Lamb and Flag Sunday roast didn’t quite meet expectations. The meat (beef and chicken) was chewy and dry, with the beef pieces containing about 25% unpleasant fat, which made it unappetizing. The side vegetables were the traditional ones, but the preparation was basic and lacked any flair—nothing interesting or outstanding about the whole meal. On a positive note, the staff was friendly, and the atmosphere was lovely. The space had a unique charm, being historically significant, which added to the overall experience.

When you simply research it, it is one of the recommended pubs in London. Apart from its historical texture and story, it is also ahead in terms of taste. It becomes even more beautiful with the joyful young people filling the streets and their joyful laughter. The oldest pub in the Covent Garden area.

This was a great pub experience and highly recommended. Our reservation was on time and the service/conversation was great. Fish and chips, the scotch egg and marinated pearl onions were great and so were the cask ales. After sitting down we went down to the bar at downstairs and the vibe was awesome.

If you approch the pub from Floral Street it's down a narrow alley that you practically have to duck your head to avoid the beams, but if you approach from Rose Street the pub has a somewhat normal frontage on the cobblestoned pavement outside. Fabulous traditional four hundred year old pub with a history dating back to Elizabethan times. Once called "The Bucket of Blood" due to its association with bare knuckle boxing. Good beers andfood to be had right in the heart of Covent Garden. Beware of the vagrants and street drinkers who will pester you in the evenings. There are homeless hostels nearby, even in this most afflent of locations. Just tell them NO and they'll usually leave you alone. They're mostly harmless, at least we've never had any trouble with them.

A great British pub of the traditional kind, that you think of when you imagine socialising back in the 70s and 80s, before the Internet killed conversation and contact. Dickens would be right at home in his old local, except perhaps for the eye watering London prices. Anyway, for what it's worth this is definitely a pub worth making a detour to, when in and around Covent Garden. Loved it 😉

The staff are lovely and the pub is old and beautiful…but the food is atrocious. We went for a Sunday roast- the beef was ok-ish but my plate was barely warm, came with the gravy already on it, and just left a lot to be desired. The cauliflower cheese was utterly bland, the scotch egg was fine, and the stuffing with the chicken (which was at least hot) was hard and inedible. A good enough pub for (expensive) pints, but skip it for a meal.

The venue is gorgeous, it is a real old pub. The service was great too, very friendly staff. The food (Sunday roast), not so good. The potatoes tasted old, the sirloin steak which they say comes pink was great and dry. The gravy tasted like that supermarket powder thing. I am putting 2 stars, not 1, because the Yorkshire pudding was good and the dessert was alright.

I wanted to take my partner to a true British Pub. This place had all the features and feel of one for sure. Upstairs is where you sit to eat, pretty cool bar and seating area, we got a seat by the window overlooking the alley, pretty cool views. We waited for someone to come ask us for drinks for over 10 minutes. I literally was about to get up and walk to bar to give me our orders when someone came. Since we had so much time we already knew our orders, unfortunately all 3 dishes we picked were out of stock, lamb? Lamb in London? You're out? The shepherds pie was gone as well, really? It's early on a Friday night and they are out of stock on food? So we were left to pick 3 other dishes and all of them were horrible, now I know why those were still in stock. I would go back for a pint, but eat somewhere else.

While I consider paying £11 for a small plate part and parcel of eating in the west end (at the end of the day we all have to cntribute to the extortionate rents), I think this place should reconsider if they should call "Crispy slow cooked brisket & Cheddar nuggets served with mustard mayonnaise & a pickled gherkin salad" to what appears (still untouchd) on the picture attached and then charge £11 i.e. £2.20 per nugget .The line between "expensive" and "pisstake" is not as thin or blurred as many business owners would like customers to believe.

We arrived around 40 minutes before closing. The service was excellent and we never felt rushed. I had lasagna, my husband had the ravioli and our son had the chicken parmigiana, all were hot and delicious. Our waiter was right there to offer us fresh ground pepper and Parmesan cheese. We also had some delicious red wine. The restaurant was clean and all tables were covered in fresh white tablecloths and had cloth napkins. Beautiful atmosphere considering the prices were so reasonable. We would definitely return.
