The best Italian restaurant in London 🇮🇹

We came to this restaurant after being in the local area and reading the reviews however were incredibly disappointed. The service was terrible. The chef ‘forgot’ our order and when we asked where it was (multiple times) they said ‘it’s coming’. Nearly one hour later it hadn’t arrived however the table next to us who came 20 minutes after we did, received their food. In fact that same table FINISHED their meal before ours even arrived, baring in mind they came 20 minutes after we sat down. To make matters worse, when the food arrived the pasta wasn’t cooked. There’s al dente and then there’s RAW. After waiting over an hour and receiving raw pasta the only thing the restaurant could offer as an apology or good will was to remove the raw pasta from the bill. No apologies or good will offered the wait time. Free drinks for example would have gone a long way. We felt very disregarded and being honest you can get better pasta for much cheaper in the local area. Disappointing. I rarely write reviews and usually if I do they are positive ones, but I really felt the need to say something after the way we were treated. This place doesn’t value good service and when you’re paying a premium that’s the least you expect.

pizza is average for london’s standarts, so its delicious and napolitean style but its not among my top london pizzerrias. There is a open stone oven. Probably the biggest pizza i’ve ever seen.

Visited the restaurant today and I was really shocked by how the owners of the restaurant were treating their staff especially the waiters. They were beyond rude and disrespectful to the staff especially the waiters, the waiters were doing their best and were so hospital. The crude behaviour of the owner drastically reduced the vibe of the restaurant and I was very disappointed

Today I wanted to have a nice pizza dinner by my own, so I went to L’Antica Pizzeria da Michele on Baker Street. Unfortunately, the experience was underwhelming and definitely not worth the price. To start, the prices are extremely high for the quality offered. I ordered the “Truffle Mushroom” pizza, which cost a staggering £26.95. Honestly, it wasn’t worth a single penny. It arrived lukewarm — a big letdown, considering a true Italian pizza should be served hot with a perfectly balanced dough. Sadly, that wasn’t the case here. The service was average. For an Italian restaurant, I expected a bit more authenticity — maybe Italian-speaking staff or that warm Italian hospitality. Aside from the owner, who was attentive and clearly involved, the rest of the staff didn’t add anything memorable to the experience. The atmosphere was just okay. There was Italian music playing in the background and the walls were decorated, but the overall vibe didn’t make me feel like I was in a traditional Italian trattoria. In short, if you’re looking for an authentic Italian pizza experience, this isn’t it, especially not at these prices.

I was there yesterday for a nice evening dinner with some friends and i got the best meatball ever also the ragu sauce was spotless we will be back for sure

I don’t normally leave reviews, but this was so offensively bad that I feel obliged to warn others. We made the grave mistake of ordering from this so-called “pizza restaurant” via Deliveroo. Within three minutes of placing the order, we tried to cancel – but were told the pizzas had already been cooked. Either they have a magical oven that bends time, or they’re lying through their teeth. When the food eventually arrived, it was clear we’d been completely scammed. The pizzas were stone cold, limp, and barely recognisable as food. They were so absurdly thin they were breaking apart in the box – and insultingly, they hadn’t even bothered to cut them. For £17 a pizza, you’d expect something remotely edible. This was an overpriced, flavourless disgrace masquerading as a meal. And as for the tiramisu – calling it “bad” would be generous. Bland, watery, and completely devoid of any texture or taste. An absolute joke. The entire experience reeked of laziness, arrogance, and a total lack of respect for customers. If you’re thinking of ordering from here – don’t. Burn your money instead. At least that way you’ll be warm and disappointed rather than cold and furious.

Ordered a two pizzas and it was so pricey yet extremely thin with even a thinner base you could see the bread and pinch of cheese. Extremely Disappointed

Stealing money! They took a cover charge of 2.5 gbp per person but did not bring bring the bread which was included in the cover charge. Staff was oblivious to this, even though the conditions were clearly displayed on the menu. It's a deception. The food was great.

As an Italian who has lived in London for more than 8 years, I can give you my opinion on this pizzeria after having visited many. It was the first time I went to one of the “Antiche Pizzerie da Michele” and unfortunately I was not satisfied. The pizza was very thin and really thin, so much so that the ingredients struggled to stay on top. The cost is definitely excessive. The only positive note is the quality of the ingredients. I appreciated the flavor of the buffalo mozzarella, the cherry tomatoes and the raw meat. I don't know about the other pizzerias at Michele's but unfortunately I don't feel like recommending it to anyone. A “Franco Manca” and at a better price with the same if not better quality.

I’ve been to San Michele twice recently - once with my partner, once solo Great experience both times. Excellent food, good atmosphere and A1 service. Special shout out for Sofia.

Pizze strepitose, ingredienti di alto livello, ospitalità italiana. Chi si lamenta dei prezzi non sa cosa vuol dire gestire un ristorante di quelle proporzioni in zona Marylebone a Londra, con tutti i costi che ne conseguono e le difficoltà nel reperire staff con la giusta preparazione. I loved the pizza of this restaurant. Service was very nice and the food was quickly served. We enjoyed the taste of the pizza and the huge size of it. Price was fair and the location of the restaurant is very charming, close to the home of one famous detective. Super recommended.

Food was relatively mid. Had to ask 3 times for tap water, food even got there before the water did.

This place USED to be good. No longer. They expect you to pay 2.50 per person for bread and olives. Why? So they can fleece tourists I expect. Such a shame. I I've been twice before, and the pizza was good, but I won't be forced to pay for something I don't want. I told the waiter, and he said it's a new menu. NO- It's a new policy...that's not a menu item. We hadn't even finished ordering, it hadn't been brought out so why force it upon us. I know if it's brought out and you start eating it... you pay. I've lived in London for 20 years and I've NEVER seen this. The pink neon lights are awful, too. It's a restaurant, not a club. Maybe that's the vibe they're going for. London has a decent pizza scene now, I recommend finding somewhere that doesn't add a bread tax just for entering the premise.

DO NOT EAT AT THIS PLACE! Me and my partner attended here for a meal, I had the carbonara and he had the margarita pizza. The carbonara wasn’t even edible, had no taste to it at all so I left it. The pizza had a can of tomota soup on it and was barely edible. The long haired waitress could see I left my whole meal and didn’t speak a word to me, didn’t ask me if my meal was okay and made me pay for it. Very disappointing, would not recommend to anyone.

The biggest scam in London. It is mandatory to pay for a stale bread and dip of oil +vinegar. Ridiculous! The pizza was soggy and nothing special. The waiter was wearing gloves like he was going to do a surgery. The worst pizza place in London.

One pizza is large, so if you're a Japanese woman, one pizza is a good size for two people to share. We also had pasta, but this time we only ordered pizza. It's delicious. It's 15 pounds including the sparkling, so I think it's cheap considering the cost of the place. The atmosphere of the store is good and the staff are friendly. It is not a high-end store, but a casual store.

Nice restaurant, good service but pricey and average pizza. I had never tried this restaurant before despite walking past it many times. Located opposite Baker Street underground station. Nice restaurant. Lovely atmosphere. Clean. Staff were super friendly and very nice, especially the lady that served me. Good service. They have pasta as well if you don't want a pizza. Big variety. I went with the MARINARA (tomato sauce, oregano, garlic and seed soy oil). I added mushrooms and fresh chilli (for an extra charge). It was nice to see a bigger range of soft drinks rather than the standard offering you normally get. The Ginger Beer was good. The pizza was huge! Came out quickly. It was an OK pizza but soggy. Maybe because it was a marinara, but I found it very soggy and the tomato became a bit too much. It just needed something, maybe more of a punch. It was also cold which was strange as I saw the gentleman making it! I suggest if you go with others, maybe order a combination of pizza and pasta to have more variety. As I said the pizza was huge. I usually go to Franco Manca. I prefer their pizzas. Having said this, the service and variety was much better here. More upmarket. I would go back to maybe try another pizza. Lot more pricier.

Pizza was Ok… but for me and my girlfriend we had 1 margarita pizza… and we were charged £20!! When we asked for some water they said their taps weren’t working so we had no water. Of course, we could’ve bought some bottled water, but we were so disappointed in their awful overall service, we didn’t want to give them any more than they got from us. All I all, we’re very positive people. And never make reviews like this, but this was awful!! Stay Away!

We ate at Michele's for the first time in Naples, and we've been eating there ever since, until yesterday we came across the same restaurant in London. We sat down, tried it, and as if we were in Naples, we loved it! 😊

The BIGGEST and most delicious pizza I have had in a very long time. The staff were very attentive, and the place was packed. The beautiful ceiling decor put all of us very much at ease, and I'm very much looking forward to coming back soon!

Very poor experience. We choose here as looked like a family run restaurant but it became clear we were just a number. We ordered some fries with pizza and we waited for them to arrive. We then had to ask and was told they were coming, but became clear they had never been ordered. We asked for the pizza to be kept warm till they arrived and just told to ‘eat’. We had both completely finished our cold pizza when fries arrived. I mentioned at this point the delay but they didn’t care. When plates were collected we were asked how was the meal, again we explained pizza was cold and fries arrived late. Again they didn’t care. Feel like we were being rushed to get out to flip our table. I had also received the wrong drink. Was still charged a service charge on the bill! Very poor customer service! But being in London they are not trying to attract regulars just quick turn over.

I eat Michele's pizza all over the world and it is always excellent. Yesterday I ordered 2 pizzas, they arrived cold, 105 minutes of waiting, 60,43£ For 2 terrible cold pizzas....horrible, shameful, not recommended! They should remove that sign, Michele is an institution in pizza!! Highly not recommended, by an Italian pizza lover

I just found this place while passing by. I ordered gnocchi and pizza, not expecting it to be this much. The wood-fired pizza was delicious, as expected, and the gnocchi was chewy and delicious. Well.. do they usually eat this much in England..?

Not great, came in to order some food to go. Ordered a glass of wine while I waited, she brought the wrong one, charged me £5 more than the one I ordered and refused to change it. Caesar salad was uninspiring, brown lettuce, and brushetta was soggy and gross. No napkins, no cutlery provided. Nearly £40, ridiculous. Overpriced, grumpy lady at door, wouldn't recommend and won't be going back.

Welcoming staff, really good pizzas, being celiac I got the gluten-free pizza, one of the best I've ever eaten.

Gluten free pizza base was exceptional. We had lunch and it was Perfect. Highly recommend the food here as it is all authentic Italian, with cooking styles clearly passed down through Italian family heritage. Even the gluten free pasta we ordered was very well made. The restaurant was right next to the tube stop and super easy to access. We did not have to book as it was a really rainy day, but I am sure it gets busy as all the other tables around us were speaking Italian, so it’s definitely a locals spot. The price was very reasonable for the quality of food. Wood fired pizza just tastes really good.

La comida era genial. A pesar de que nada era halal había suficientes opciones vegetarianas y de mariscos. Delirios muy auténticos comida. Lo más destacado de toda la noche fue cómo un camarero llamado Devish. Él fue más allá para hacer nuestra noche especial y no podía hacer lo suficiente para hacernos bienvenidos y cómodos. También recomendó la mejor pizza para mis padres. Él estaba encantado de ayudarnos con cualquier cosa. La única desventaja era el cargo de propina de £ 2. ¡50 por persona! Entiendo que estábamos en una ubicación de alta gama sin embargo £ 35. 00 añadido automáticamente a nuestra factura es extorsivo. Debido al excelente servicio al cliente de Devish no cuestioné al gerente cuando pagué.

I am extremely disappointed with my experience at L’Antica Pizzeria Da Michele. Not only was our dining experience frustrating, but the follow-up to our complaint showed a complete lack of empathy or customer care. During our visit, we were served a bread basket without being asked if we wanted it, only to later find out we were charged £2.50 per person. I am celiac and had informed the staff of my gluten intolerance upon arrival, yet I was still charged for something I couldn’t eat. When we kindly asked for my portion of the charge to be removed, the staff refused. The situation was made worse by their response to my email complaint, where they begrudgingly offered to refund £2.50 but provided no apology or acknowledgment of the poor handling of dietary restrictions. The surcharge for gluten-free pizza is insulting, especially as it’s a medical necessity, not a choice. For a restaurant that isn’t the cheapest, I expected far better service and care. This restaurant clearly prioritizes profit over customer satisfaction and shows little care for individuals with allergies or dietary needs. I expected so much more given their reputation, but I left feeling insulted, undervalued, and deeply disappointed. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone who values good service and respect. Update: I emailed them back to express my disappointment however they replied with a very short reply and still not empathy and a lack of understanding standing

Dreadful pizza, dreadful service and sat us near the door, feeling cold. I couldn't wait to leave. We asked the waiter for a pizza cutter. He was confused what we were talking about. We didn't get a pizza cutter in the end. I would never go back.

The food is okay. The pizzas are quite large. The last time I drank Aperol from plastic glasses was on Malle, but definitely not in a place where I pay £10 a glass. The place has gone seriously downhill. I’d never been to this particular location, but others in my party have historically been regulars and were appalled. We ordered the arancini starter and they came stone cold in the centre—we sent them back. I then ordered the fusilli pesto and the others in my party the margherita pizza. The fusilli was a bit short of al Dente and the pizzas were at best average. We won’t be going out of the way to return, that’s for sure.

Muy infeliz de hecho. Este restaurante solía estar dirigido por italianos y era una institución. Fuimos hoy y pedimos dos Arancini para arrancar que llegaron fríos por dentro. El sabor no era agradable. Los enviamos de vuelta y luego llegó nuestro plato principal, dos pizzas y un plato de pasta. Con los arancini siendo cocinados de nuevo para nosotros estábamos hambrientos, así que aceptamos esto y nos arropamos. Ambas pizzas no estaban bien cocidas en el fondo, y cortarlas era muy difícil ya que casi estaban cocidas elásticas en el plato. Los arancini llegaron de nuevo, esta vez cocinados más oscuros y solo frescos para calentar en el centro. ¿Por qué cocinar arancini tamaño pelota de tenis cuando es imposible calentarlos sin quemarlos? La pizza tiene un sabor encantador, pero no bien cocinado, lo que significa que perdimos el sabor de la base de pizza. El arancini era horrible, y el sabor no era brillante.

The ancient Pizzeria da Michele, however, appeared to us at the end of a long tour of London and the refreshing and tasty stay also further enhanced the subsequent visit to the well-known neighboring places... All good but really disappointed with a white pasta for a child charged €20.... You just missed out. If it had been €10 both for the quantity and the absence of the condiment it would have been right but so very bad. Large pizzas that come out are not the most hygienic, dangling on the table, and fake flowers on the ceiling, not to my liking.

Depuis la rue on voit les pizzaiolos travailler et ça donne envie de déguster une de leurs pizzas… Pâtes très fines et copieusement garnies, vraiment un délice, tres bon Tiramisu mais afogato avec une boule de glace vanille jamais vue ça ???? Service rapide mais pas très soigné, deco à revoir au premier etage et un peu bruyant sinon rapport qualité prix excellent pour Londres
