L' Antica Pizzeria Da Michele in City of London, Westminster

Very poor experience. We choose here as looked like a family run restaurant but it became clear we were just a number. We ordered some fries with pizza and we waited for them to arrive. We then had to ask and was told they were coming, but became clear they had never been ordered. We asked for the pizza to be kept warm till they arrived and just told to ‘eat’. We had both completely finished our cold pizza when fries arrived. I mentioned at this point the delay but they didn’t care. When plates were collected we were asked how was the meal, again we explained pizza was cold and fries arrived late. Again they didn’t care. Feel like we were being rushed to get out to flip our table. I had also received the wrong drink. Was still charged a service charge on the bill! Very poor customer service! But being in London they are not trying to attract regulars just quick turn over.

Gluten free pizza base was exceptional. We had lunch and it was Perfect. Highly recommend the food here as it is all authentic Italian, with cooking styles clearly passed down through Italian family heritage. Even the gluten free pasta we ordered was very well made. The restaurant was right next to the tube stop and super easy to access. We did not have to book as it was a really rainy day, but I am sure it gets busy as all the other tables around us were speaking Italian, so it’s definitely a locals spot. The price was very reasonable for the quality of food. Wood fired pizza just tastes really good.

I am extremely disappointed with my experience at L’Antica Pizzeria Da Michele. Not only was our dining experience frustrating, but the follow-up to our complaint showed a complete lack of empathy or customer care. During our visit, we were served a bread basket without being asked if we wanted it, only to later find out we were charged £2.50 per person. I am celiac and had informed the staff of my gluten intolerance upon arrival, yet I was still charged for something I couldn’t eat. When we kindly asked for my portion of the charge to be removed, the staff refused. The situation was made worse by their response to my email complaint, where they begrudgingly offered to refund £2.50 but provided no apology or acknowledgment of the poor handling of dietary restrictions. The surcharge for gluten-free pizza is insulting, especially as it’s a medical necessity, not a choice. For a restaurant that isn’t the cheapest, I expected far better service and care. This restaurant clearly prioritizes profit over customer satisfaction and shows little care for individuals with allergies or dietary needs. I expected so much more given their reputation, but I left feeling insulted, undervalued, and deeply disappointed. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone who values good service and respect. Update: I emailed them back to express my disappointment however they replied with a very short reply and still not empathy and a lack of understanding standing

Dreadful pizza, dreadful service and sat us near the door, feeling cold. I couldn't wait to leave. We asked the waiter for a pizza cutter. He was confused what we were talking about. We didn't get a pizza cutter in the end. I would never go back.

The food is okay. The pizzas are quite large. The last time I drank Aperol from plastic glasses was on Malle, but definitely not in a place where I pay £10 a glass. The highlight is the "service charge" of £2.50 per nose for fried slices of bread that don't taste good. The pizza was larger than the plate and was partly on the table, making it impossible to cut

Muy infeliz de hecho. Este restaurante solía estar dirigido por italianos y era una institución. Fuimos hoy y pedimos dos Arancini para arrancar que llegaron fríos por dentro. El sabor no era agradable. Los enviamos de vuelta y luego llegó nuestro plato principal, dos pizzas y un plato de pasta. Con los arancini siendo cocinados de nuevo para nosotros estábamos hambrientos, así que aceptamos esto y nos arropamos. Ambas pizzas no estaban bien cocidas en el fondo, y cortarlas era muy difícil ya que casi estaban cocidas elásticas en el plato. Los arancini llegaron de nuevo, esta vez cocinados más oscuros y solo frescos para calentar en el centro. ¿Por qué cocinar arancini tamaño pelota de tenis cuando es imposible calentarlos sin quemarlos? La pizza tiene un sabor encantador, pero no bien cocinado, lo que significa que perdimos el sabor de la base de pizza. El arancini era horrible, y el sabor no era brillante.

The place has gone seriously downhill. I’d never been to this particular location, but others in my party have historically been regulars and were appalled. We ordered the arancini starter and they came stone cold in the centre—we sent them back. I then ordered the fusilli pesto and the others in my party the margherita pizza. The fusilli was a bit short of al Dente and the pizzas were at best average. We won’t be going out of the way to return, that’s for sure.

Eating Italian in other countries, with different gastronomic cultures to discover, is not my favorite way of travel. The ancient Pizzeria da Michele, however, appeared to us at the end of a long tour of London and the refreshing and tasty stay also further enhanced the subsequent visit to the well-known neighboring places... Watson Elementary!!

All good but really disappointed with a white pasta for a child charged €20.... You just missed out. If it had been €10 both for the quantity and the absence of the condiment it would have been right but so very bad. Large pizzas that come out are not the most hygienic, dangling on the table, and fake flowers on the ceiling, not to my liking.

Very friendly staff, nice playlist (music in the background) and amazing food. I had the gnocchi and my friends had fried pizza and everyone loved it! Tiramisu was also very nice, I could taste the coffee in it which is great.

Pizza was good, but the cover charge was 2.50 per person and to justify that cost they gave us the worst bread ever with no oil or anything to dip. They had no ice for drinks. the speaker was broken so the music had awful crackling noises coming out. Two pizza’s and two cokes £46!!!!!!!!

We found the taste of real pizza, what more could you ask for, the pizza was very generous, it was a real pleasure to eat it in this restaurant, and the staff were welcoming and smiling.

Best pizza in London ever. No other place to go

Sadly not as good as it used to be. Whilst the pizzas are very good they are absolutely enormous, with no option for a smaller one, so you have to pay the rather expensive price for a pizza you're not likely to finish. Also, when they are this thin and large, they are invariably cold by the time you're finishing it. Service was not great with drinks forgotten and other drinks arriving too late. Music was also dreadful and too loud. A shame, as this place used to be much better.

Visited here 21:45pm 6th December 2024, after a brilliant play at the Marylebone Theatre with friends who were travelling back up north at 23:00pm from KCStP. We had 45mins to spare so decided on getting just a coffee. Whilst as a 'Restaurant ' they could have said no to 'just coffees' we were welcomed. However, 2 of our party asked for an Irish coffee, priced at £12 each, BUT asked for No Alcohol (commonly known as 'a floater coffee') This they did, though one was ruined, with cream mixing in....with an excuse that...oh its because there is no Alcohol. Lesson to pass on, NO...its because there's no sugar. Anyway, when the bill came, (my friend paid) I was completely "HORRIFIED ' to see that we had been charged FULL price for these 2 coffees. There was no alcohol? I would have expected at least a reduction in price. Can you imagine, a real Italian person , sitting in a restaurant and having charges like this. Sickening 'West End Greed' The owners should be completely and Utterly ashamed. I WILL be spreading as much negativity about this 'eatery' as possible. A real tourist trap. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE. Let's see how (if) they respond. Doubtful. I will NOT be victimised in my own city. TOURISTS, AVOID.

Had such a poor experience at this restaurant. The pizza is awful to say the least. The marinara pizza had a bitter tasting tomato sauce with too much oregano. The Margherita had too much cheese. On top of that they forced us into buying a bottle of water for £4.50 — apparently when you refuse drinks and ask for water you have to tell them you want tap water, or they’ll force an expensive bottle of water on you. I don’t think I need to say more about their service, which is obviously awful too.

Disappointing Experience, Unacceptable Hygiene Practices As a pure vegetarian, I always make sure to choose restaurants that follow strict hygiene practices to avoid any cross-contamination, especially with non-vegetarian food. Unfortunately, my recent visit to this restaurant was highly disappointing. I was uncomfortable watching the staff prepare both vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes without wearing gloves, using the same hand for both. Even more concerning was the fact that the same spatula was used to handle both vegetarian and non-vegetarian pizzas and place them in the oven. To top it off, the spatula was also used to handle food in the wood-fired chimney. This lack of attention to food safety is unacceptable, particularly for customers with dietary restrictions. Having visited this restaurant three times before, I trusted their service, but after witnessing this, I can no longer overlook these hygiene issues. I sincerely hope the restaurant takes immediate action to improve their food handling practices and ensure better hygiene in the future. Until then, I will not be returning.

The blonde Lady was so inpolite and she didn‘t understand any english. We tried to pay with our cards and they were declined. Wie wanted to pay with euros and she told us that our money is fake! She wanted to call the police like we didn‘t offer to pay multiple times!! After that we went to a different Place and our cards worked!! I decided to try the classics and went for the half Margherita and half Marinara. The pizza was generously sized with high-quality toppings in a traditional Neapolitan style. Be aware that the base can be quite soft, with this in mind, I asked for it to be re-sliced. Although the waiting staff mentioned it had already been done, a lady who appeared to be the owner, with a warm and lovely demeanour, kindly asked them to slice it again. Improved lighting would make the space feel more inviting, but if you’re after a quality pizza, it’s worth a visit.

Really average service, the starters were generic and the pizza was huge but sloppy. The decor is jarring and the speaker was blown playing crap euro pop mixed with Italian. Felt a lonnnnnnng way from Naples.

I was there with my wife for lunch, we ate two delicious croquettes and two delicious fried pizzas. The staff is very friendly and Lina is a fabulous person. Highly recommended!!!!!

This is our first time in London and we found this restaurant by chance after visiting the Sherlock Museum. It is a very elegant restaurant with very delicious pizzas, but be careful, the pizzas are well worth the extremely large price 🥰

After cinema meal was a big suprise. Arancini were big and tasty. Calamari portion was very big and it was the beautiful small ones with lots of the tentacles as well. Pizzas were not big , they were enormous very thin bases and crispy edges , just like in Naples. Not over topped like some, just really good ingredients with lots of flavour. When we looked around we saw people were sharing them between two. Wines and beers are Italian too. We finished off the meal with Melonchello, that I can recommend too. We will be back soon.

I cannot recommend this place enough. We were looked after by Tommy and Samil. They are so very friendly, looked after us all evening and made us feel very special. The food is such good quality as the pizzas are humongous and tasty. Will definitely be returning 😊

The most disgusting pizza in London. We ordered delivery. Mine calzone was burned a bit that gave charcoal taste. Ans generally was not good. Tiramisu without taste and roommate says she didn’t like her as well. So makings conclusion that never order from them again

Ordered a Diavola pizza. Was asked "do you want Nduja or Burrata?" as if it was an option that I'd missed on the menu for that pizza. I said Nduja, a little confused. The pizza itself was nice if slightly undercooked in the middle. I would happily eat it again though. When the bill came, it was £17.99 for the pizza plus £5 for the Nduja extra - I was annoyed but most of all too exhausted to argue. Couple next to me, one of them ordered a calzone. Waiter asked the guy "Burrata or Mozarella on top of the calzone?" and the customer was equally confused before choosing one of the two options so clearly they're doing this to everyone. The sly up-selling is clearly a tried and trusted tactic for this establishment given other reviews which is a shame because their product is good enough to bring back custom. For the pizza itself I'd happily go back - but because of the confusing up-selling I cannot recommend going to this place.

I ordered the margarita pizza (14.5£) and the ravioli (19.9£), when I made the order they tried to upsell me the addition of more cheese which I declined so when I arrived home I discovered that they didn’t put a single piece of cheese and just handed me over a piece of flat bread with tomato sauce that they call margarita pizza. I find that behavior unacceptable. And the staff weren’t friendly at all. Defiantly will never go again and don’t recommend this place at all.
