Food was awful!! Bland food even though asked to make the food spicy!! The chicken curry dishes are really bad! Chicken tasted rubbery. Never tasted chicken curry like this before. Ordered garlic chicken curry, and another chicken curry both seemed to have a tomato base sauce. Will never be visiting this restaurant again!! Would not recommend! And they call this fine dining, defo got that wrong!!!

This was the best Indian food I’ve tasted for a long time. Lamb Rogan josh was so tender. The mixed vegetable curry was cooked just right (not to soft and mushy) and garlic chicken was delicious. They even had Indian pud gulab jamun.

We went and ate at Lals on the 10/08/18. We were greated by a lady who immediately seated us, lovely well presented table and souroundings. Myself and my husband both ordered main courses. The drinks were prompt at being served. All I can say is the food was absolutely beautiful and just the right amount. It was the best Dansac I have ever eaten. Not over priced at all, will be going back and it’s a bonus they have a loyalty card. All I can say to the owner is the lady that served us is a credit to your establishment. Well done all and thank you for a lovely and relaxing evening.

I went here for a family meal. I've ordered takeaway from here in the past and have been happy with it, so decided to eat here. The food we order was vegetarian and was of a good standard. We requested The food to be mild and it was made as we requested. The food tasted good and did not disappoint. The service was good from the staff.. The restaurant is tidy and we'll kept. I would definitely eat here again and recommend this to others.

This is my friend and her extended families local, they love it. So I took a couple of friends and their 8mth old a few weeks ago. 1st thing that hit me was the smell, don't want to speculate but it was horrible, we were shown to a table and the 2nd thing I noticed was how dirty the soft seating was, the place basically needs a face lift and a clean. The previous place never looked this tired. The staff on the other hand were super attentive, too much so in that different waiters kept coming over to see if we liked our food, needed anything else, including one guy who I think was the owner. They need to sort this out but they were all very nice and couldn't do enough for us and the baby. The food was nice, but too hot for me, I'd asked for medium but it was so hot it ruined the taste for. Still not to worry my friends thoughly enjoyed their food and finished off most of mine, so nothing went to waste. Paid £67 for 1 coke, 2 starters, 3 mains. It's ok but wouldn't return until some improvements are made.

Lals was recommended by the hotel we stayed at and what a recommendation. Catering for vegetarians and meat eater alike but our vegetarian daughter was really pleased at the choice which can usually be limiting. From entering the restaurant to leaving the lady who greeted us and the gentleman who served our drinks were friendly and helpful. The food was so tasty and good size portions, loved the wine choice too. Highly recommended, I wished we lived closer as would use it as our local.

So I called up on a Thursday evening to place an order for delivery. I ordered 2 chapattis, 2 currys & a biryani. I gave all the details over the phone to the staff member & when the food arrived, the chapattis were missing! However they kindly added a bottle of coke that we did not order but paid for! So I called back regarding the missing chapattis, the mans response on the phone was “Oh the chef probably forgot to put it in”. That’s not the kind of response a customer wants to hear because it makes the staff sound incompetent! They sent out another delivery & we were expected to pay for the chapattis because apparently they hadn’t written it in the order in the first place! So I don’t know if its the chefs fault or the staff taking calls. Food was average & not to mention extortionate. Won’t be ordering again.

We had a glass of wine which i saw was poured out of 2 bottles one looked like a new bottle and one an older bottle which made the wine un drinkable, even if the food was nice that would be enough to make me not want to go back.

I was full of excitment at going for a curry on my cousins birthday. An what a let down it was . Over priced for the food we were given . Everyone asked for a dish of there choice, and everyone ended up with food looking and tasting exactly the same. WRONG just wrong, and when I mentioned this to a server, he just smiled n shook his head ... I go to mention it to another one he does the same, only this time he thinks I need a drink . You see my problem here dont you . The toilets were disgusting with feces smears on the tiles... I am not sure that I was pleased I noticed the filth before or after my one pot stew, Because If I had of seen it before hand, I certanly wouldnt have eaten anything in this establishment. Being brought up in a family where eating fine Indian food together on a Saturday night, was always something we looked forward to when my father was around. He regularly took us to and ordered takeaways from the best indian restaurants in town which included the Maharaja, JJ's and Itihaas. These restaurants didn't do takeaways really but because he was a loyal customer over so many years they really looked after us.Due to us eating in these fine establishments, when we left home many years ago we really struggled to find a local Indian restaurant that delivered the flavours and quality that we were used to. We had become mostly disappointed with the local Indian restaurants until we noticed that Lal's restaurant had opened on the Wolverhampton road.We now feel that we have found the best Indian restaurant outside of the city centre and the owner and his staff really look after us. Their menu is the right size and has a good selection of dishes. The food is of an impeccable standard even when delivered to your door. You can really taste the individual spices, the lamb melts in your mouth and the dishes are really clean. They also serve my favourite pudding of all which is Rasmalai, which allot of Indian restaurants don't have.I can't rate this restaurant and their staff highly enough and we will travel to collect future takeaways from Lal's when we move home in the coming weeks.

It's quite a pleasant little Indian restaurant and well worth a visit. All was very good apart from the chicken which was slightly over cooked. I noticed a few anomalies in the menu's prices e.g, some starters that are more expensive than the mains. That said some of the mains are very competitively priced. The service was very pleasant and attentive, with just the right time between courses. Excellent lager and Tamarind Garden red wine. I would be more than happy to return.

Had to write this review immediately following a great meal here. The Chefs here are clearly very accomplished, the dishes were the best i have sampled for some time, great flavours, quality ingredients. The prices dont seem high enough for the quality of the food. Service was exceptional, courteous and timely. The external and internal decor could probably benefit from an update, but this is inconsequential when you consider the quality, service, and ambience created by the staff....well done Lals, we will return!

Experience...stumbled across this restaurant, by accident didn't book a table, however have visited the previous restaurant, before the names changed.Starters....very good we 2 of us had a mixed grill, and several other starters...no complaints we believed we had found a great place. We then ordered man, 5 of us went for Lamb, one of us Salmon.Once the food came out, which was sporadically, one of the ladies was kept waiting (salmon) whilst we had to wait for her meal ours was getting cold.Once arrived, we started eating, the lamb was very poor, we had various dishes of lamb, a lamb Rogan josh..a lamb/mixed dish, and another lamb of the menu.I would have to give these 1/10. We spoke about the meal between us, and felt it to be very inadequate, however did not complain, we didn't even want to take the majority left over home, as it was that bad.We settled the bill £161.And left the restaurant.Biggest regret on reflection, was not letting the owner of the restaurant know how bad it was, as I felt this feedback would have been valuable to there business.Lals Restaurant, Please feel free to contact me, if you would like to discuss in greater detailFinal thoughts, you get one chance to make a the right impression...Sadly we will not be back.

I dont know where the people eat who give this restaurant a good rating as it is the worst Indian food i have ever had the misfortune to eat. We used to go to this restaurant when it was Saffron and were always amazed by the quality and service so we thought we would give the new Lals a try for my daughter's 25th. What a mistake that was. The tandori fish starter i had was greasy and fatty as they had used salmon which was too rich and not stated on the menu that this was the fish on offer. The chicken sag balti came as a green gung with burnt chicken and the mushroom rice was greasy. My husband's goat curry was really the only edible thing that we ordered. If it had not been a birthday celebration with two children with us we would have made more of a complaint though i doubt it would have made any difference as when my husband mentioned the burnt chicken a mumbled apology was all we got. The bill was also extortionate for the quality of food and i can catergorically say i will never be returning. If you want a top class curry at a reasonable price i suggest you try The Hailstone in Springfield Close, Rowley as it knocks spots of this poor quality overpriced rubbish. A real pity that the new owners haven't kept up the quality of Saffron.

This restaurant used to be called Saffron and was excellent, the staff and food were outstanding. Sadly the same cannot be said of the new owners. We arrived on Saturday evening not aware that the ownership had changed. From the moment we entered it was clearly not the same atmosphere and despite being seated promptly, we were left for unattended for a period of time. Once handed the menu, it was evident that the selection was dramatically reduced and offered nowhere near the selection that we were used to. To add insult to injury, two other groups who arrived after us had their orders taken ahead of us.To be frank, we almost felt unwelcome and decided to leave.Such a shame as this restaurant has been a firm favourite of mine for several years and I feel that we have come to the end of a great relationship.

Went as a foursome and when we arrived we were shown to our table. The table was close to another table so when i pulled the chair out to sit down I accidently leabed into the man sitting on the next table. He reacted like a miserable git would but the problem outlined the general lack of ambiance. I couldn't see me taking my wife for a romantic meal there if I'm honest i.e. too bright, too many large tables with not enough dividing space. Saying that the service was very polite and good plus food portions were adequate.

We visited here on Friday 6th January for the first time, as we heard it was under new management. We are always skeptical to begin with coming from a mixed punjabi background our standards are quite high.On arriving we were greeted with friendly smiles and were impressed with the ambience. Franko took our food orders and sorted our drinks/cocktails, which were very moorish, and a couple of the waiters Kuldeep and a pleasant tall gentlemen served our food. May i say the food was absolutely delicious, from start to finish, very authentic taste, especially the papri chaat WOW!! takes me back home. We were regulars at Saffron - eating in and getting takeaways and always getting great food. Spotted it had changed hands and decided to get a takeaway from Lal's tonight. Not impressed. Starters were not great - I had the Papri ChaatCrispy pastry with chickpeas, potatoes with tamarind sauce topped with yoghurt & spices - smothered in yoghurt in fact, so stone cold and tasteless. My partner had the Tawa Aloo ChaatMarinated potatoes with spicy, salty, sweet & sour flavours of mint, chillies, coriander & chaat masala - ok, but a bit dry. My main of Paneer Bhurjee was also very dry and no sign of tomato in the description. My partner had the dahl - very hot indeed. I may be unfairly comparing it to Saffron, but it wasn't great at all - won't be repeating the experience.

We've visited Saffron for many years, it was standout for quality and menu uniqueness. When we heard it had changed hands we decided to give it ago.First impressions were slightly skewed by the miss-spelt Dinning on the new livery outside the building. Decor inside is the same as is the fixtures and fixings. Menu is a little strange as it's mostly traditional Indian interspersed with the occasional Thai curry and Chow Mein. We shared the mixed Non Veg starter which was awesome and delighted us with the large chunks of chicken, lamb chops and kebab. It was really really tasty, well presented and set a very high bar. For our mains Claire had the Chicken Taliwala and I had Garlic Chicken. These were not so impressive, served in a breakfast bowl for us to transfer to our plates. Both dishes were over seasoned and disappointed. Would we return?Hmmm not so sure, potentially yes as we enjoyed the starter and it's hard to contemplate the Saffron really has disappeared. They really need to embrace quality and strive to offer better quality even if it means higher prices. Service was really good, drinks really well priced. I had two pints, Claire a large glass of wine and total cost was £38.Much less than the Saffron, I'd have gladly paid more for the rounded experience.
