Lalbagh Tandoori in Watford

Is this venue still operating? I placed an order online for takeaway meal on 11th July. My money was taken but there was no confirmation and the food didn’t arrive. I have tried phoning but no one answers. I have sent msg requesting refund but so far have had no response.

Really amazing food. Staff are amazing and you just want to keep coming back!

Had a great time in here with my boyfriend on Saturday night. The waiter was so chatty and we just didn't want to leave not even when they had to turn the sign light off and nudge us out gently. Really good curry, best I've had in a long time. Nice and hot with lots of flavour. Superb

We had a private function here, and it was honestly excellent. Staff were wonderful, friendly and attentive, the food excellent and the prices reasonable. Highly recommended.

We've been eating here for 15+ years and its consistently good food. But on eating there earlier this month, the food was not very warm when it arrived and then we were charged £11.90 for two soda & lime cordials. When we queried this, we were told that this was the correct price. REALLY!! So we will not be coming back to this restaurant again. New owners with no experience of drinks prices and keeping loyal customers happy.

Just eaten here tonight for a friend's birthday & felt compelled to leave a review. The restaurant is small but not tiny. Tables are well spaced apart. Lovely young lady called Jo greeted us & asked who's birthday it was. Throughout the evening she remembered our names too. We were chatting so much took us ages to decide on our order & Jo did not rush us at all. Drinks were ordered from a very extensive list. We ordered starters, mains & sides. All food was beautiful cooked & fresh to order. Everything tasted great. Gentleman that brought our food out was very chatty also. At the end of the meal a lovely cake was presented to the birthday girl. We ordered liqueurs to finish. Everything we had was of the highest quality, tasted great & was extremely reasonably priced. The people who work here are so polite, chatty & you get the vibe that they enjoy being there. Can't wait to go back there. This restaurant really is very worth a visit.

We didn't get our food, we ordered but the takeaway thought that 1 hour and 30 minutes and counting was an acceptable time to wait for food on a standard Thursday evening. Really can't comment on the food quality because after 90 minutes of waiting we called again and told them not to bother.

The restaurant is now called Taaza. Food was lovely. As it was quite quiet we were chatting with the staff which added to a very nice evening overall. The sardine and onion starter was a real standout. Give this restaurant your support.

Fantastic service, despite us arriving late around 10pm. Welcomed with open arms and served refreshingly chilled beers and Prosecco. Food was delicious, hot and fresh (whatever the spice). One of Watford’s finest.

Just had the worst Indian takeout delivered by lal bagh in bushey!!! Fuming. Cold and so greasy. Rice was dry and no flavour. Onion bhajis were dry and in edable. Couldn’t even do poppadoms ( brown in colour and awful) 🤯 They need to up there game in a big way. Avoid if you are after a decent takeaway. Waste of £50

Staff are quite unprofessional on the phone. Food quality and quantity has really gone in the wrong direction over the last few months. With so much competition in the area, this restaurant needs to up its game.

This is a wonderful local restaurant. We have been visiting here since 1997 and have never had a bad meal. Martin and his staff are delightful and do everything they can to make your visit special. We have celebrated birthdays, anniversaries, first communions and many New Years Eves here. The food is delightful, tasty and filling. I particularly like the spicy curries such as Chicken Green Masala. And the Channa Puri is to die for! No restaurant nowadays lasts this many years without having a loyal customer base. This restaurant is a gem and needs to be very well supported!

Poor quality food and on one occasion I went for a takeaway and not the regular guy was working and he tried to charge me more than usual on my regular order and tried to say that's the prices, I argued saying no as I've come here few times before and eventually he agreed, so not only is the food poor but they try to scam you out of more money. Also one occasion I had got a curry with fresh naan breads and they were awful like covered In sugar I mean who does that, it was so bad I had to chuck it all away. Never again!

We have been eating in Lal Bagh for almost 20 years and I can honestly say that we have never been disappointed. The food was always delicious, whether was takeaway or it in, no difference. The staff are always friendly and keen to help.

The food is not spicy not delivered on time frequently they deliver to the wrong address they don’t ring you back and they frequently don’t the order right so imho this place sucks not happy with the service at all

Reasonable food on the whole let down by the use of frozen mixed veg in the vegetable biryani. Service fine but they weren't busy and missing hot towels.

Yesterday evening at 7:30pm we ordered a takeaway from this curry house, local to my Mum. She had used them previously and the curry was good and they delivered on time. (This is the only reason I have given a review of Poor rather than Terrible.) On this occasion however, having ordered over £100 of curries and sides, our order took almost 2 hours to be delivered - they had said an hour. When we phoned (4 times) to find out where the driver was, we were told he'd left and would be with us soon. (They had the full address and postcode and had been there before. They also had my mobile number.) When he eventually arrived he had 3 bottles of beer to give us as an apology for his lateness - so he obviously was still on the premises when we'd called. So the lateness was an issue as was his tone; as was the fact that when we called the curry house with the driver still with us, they insisted that the manager would not be available until after 22:30 and so they couldn't do anything about the problem. I don't buy that. The curry itself was also an issue. We would have had a far more flavourful curry by cooking one ourselves using Pataks curry paste, if only we'd known earlier! I think they'd run out of spices, and they clearly didn't know Makhani Dahl from Korma sauce, because that's what we'd got. My Karahi (Korai) Lamb was bland, more like a stew and the naan bread's were definitely not garlic. I dislike writing bad reviews - I just tend to not go back. But this time I felt it necessary as even though we didn't pay the full amount - we gave the driver £100 instead of the £112.20 they'd asked for, it really wasn't worth the money - we were all just so hungry that there was no other option. I can only imagine that they had new/different staff in from when my Mum last ordered, and they fell apart because it was a Saturday night and had over-committed on their deliveries. It's no excuse though, don't waste your money.

Phoned up to order a takeaway at 5.40pm 25th Aug it was delivered at 6.00pm, obviously reheated food, we only live 5 mins away and it arrived only like warm and some pieces of chicken were very chewy , rice very lumpy.

I took my husband here for his birthday. We have been here several times over the years. You cannot fault this restaurant. The food is fresh and tasty the spicy flavours do not drown the dish. Service is excellent with every angle covered such an enjoyable experience. No I didn't get paid to write this yes we will be going again. I had wanted to try The Pavilion but was told kitchens close at 7pm ?

Just ordered a chicken tikka dansak and lamb tikka jalfrezi and the sauces were so bland they would fit perfectly into the Hertfordshire primary school menu. I lost half the lamb to the bin it was so gristley and some pieces tased of pork. Barely any spice in the dansak either. Hospital food - never again!

Just had another great meal from this restaurant never had a bad one from here, friendly staff, great food always hot when delivered and even spoilt tonight delivered by the owner what a nice touch. Thank you La Bagh a touch of class.

Lal Bagh (meaning "Flower Garden") serves up some wonderful Indian cuisine. The atmosphere is warm and friendly, Martin has owned the restaurant for over 20 years and with very capable help from waiter/barman/chief bottle washer Taz along with his award winning chefs, runs a very efficient and comfortable eatery. There is also a very fast and efficient delivery service as well, I highly recommend Lal Bagh for an excellent night out or a wonderful meal in front of the telly.

Another wonderful trip to Lal Bagh - where the food is always the best. A wonderful Sag Lamb, and great Tarka Daal. If you want a fantastic Indian meal in the Bushey area - go to visit Lal Bagh. A

Lalbagh is a very friendly Indian and Bangladeshi restaurant with the best of reputations. Nothing is pre cooked everything is made fresh to order using the highest quality ingredients, and the staff and owner are extremely friendly and helpful. Do yourself a favour and either book a table or just turn up with your friends and/or family and they will be eternally grateful and impressed with your choice of restaurant.

Ordered takeaway. Delivery was really quick and food hot when arrived. Portions were smaller than expected. Like others have said it’s meat mixed with sauce, no real effort to cook. Probably look for another takeaway place next time, shame as recommended to me.

We came here as a group of 22 late night after a show, and they were very accommodating and managed to deal well with serving such a large group at the same time (orders placed in advance, which helped). I had a chicken balti, sharing a rice and a keema naan between two which was more than enough food for one. The curry was very nice and I’m sure would be a solid place to return if I was ever in the area again.

So, I've had 10 years of proper Indian cuisine in Dubai, and this was the first UK Indian we'd had. But blimey. It was terrible. So lazy. Just meat chucked in a sauce. There's nothing here that's actual Indian food. Maybe that's all the local want - but a Tesco's finest ready meal is 100 times better - so I'm not so sure. Plan ahead - buy from Tesco's! - this place is just a huge disappointment.

We came here as an after show meal, as a large group of about 16, they took their time to send us the menu in advance so we could order ahead and the food be ready as we arrived. For myself, I ordered the Tandoori Lamb Chops for starter, what arrived was a super tender and super flavourful pair of lamb chops, which I wish wouldn't have ended as they were just so tasty! Main I ordered the Tandoori Mixed Grill, again... another delicious mix of Chicken and Lamb, full of flavour and just delicious! The sides and accompaniments were tasty. I hadn't been for an "Indian" meal in ages, and I'm glad it was this one!

I always return to this restaurant for both eat in meals and take aways. The food is great! They are very reasonable with portions. I always have the chicken korma or chicken tikka masala. Both highly recommended. The staff are lovely too.

We travelled all the way from Cornwall to have a superb Indian meal.service was efficient,food was excellent quality and the host could not do enough for us.restaurant is quite dark but the food was freshly cooked,naan breads,bhajiis are lovely and shashlick and tikka masala were very good.

Having been regulars for over 20 years and probably the first to take our children to the restaurant, Martin cooked several vegetarian dishes for our daughter as a special evening before she went back to Australia. Our two "Pescatarians" thought the meal was fantastic, so much so that we suggested a specials board be implemented! Martin is a lovely gentleman in all respects and the staff are all very helpful. Thank you for the treat before a difficult goodbye!

Ordered food at 7:45pm was told it would be 45mins. After 50 mins rang and was told food was on its way, as I only live 5mins away thought it would arrive at 9:00pm. Food finally arrived at 9:15pm COLD. Had to put in microwave. Very disappointed and very expensive. Will not use again

A Tuesday night meal! Sharing a Chicken Darjeeling, Lamb Saag, Tarka Daal a Brinjal Bhaji and some rice. A good variation in textures and taste-the chicken had some crispy elements whilst the lamb had plenty of fresh spinach. I had a slight problem with the tandoori lamb chop starter, partially because the restaurant was so dark that I couldn't see where the bones were. Good attentive service and another pleasant evening.

Food was nice, service a touch slow. Think only one waiter on due to bad weather. Good selection , onion bhaji was nice and light, not greasy.Dimly lit . Waiter turned light up for us then turned it down again a few mins later.

I love going here every time I come. The food is consistent and lovely all the time. Finally, I think that the staff here are lovely and welcoming to every one who eats here.

Chicken tikka masala type of place, but they are friendly, the food is nicely cooked, decent portions, nothing to go WOW about but nothing to complain about either. My wife loves the paneer.

Fantastic staff who go out of their way to meet your each and every need (the manager, Martin, in particular). The food is also lovely, I particularly enjoy the aubergine side order with either a lamb or chicken dish. Definitely a favourite for an Indian meal, eat in and take away! Highly recommended.

We have been regulars of this restaurant for 23 years and although we usually get takeaways to enjoy at home, we do like to actually go there as well. Last night we had a fabulous meal including such delights as king prawn puri, chicken chat, chicken tikka sagwala, bhuna and massala, mushroom pilau, tarka dhal and aloo gobi. My goodness me the spice blends are amazing. To top it all off we are always treated royally with complimentary after dinner drinks and choccies. Indian food doesn't get much better than this award winning restaurant which we are so lucky to have close by.

Hmm - we had been there before and quite liked it, the food is good and there is an excellent vegetarian choice, but the service can be quite 'Basil Fawlty'. The night we went there was clear demarkation between the staff - one person took the orders, one person delivered the drinks, one person sorted the food and woe betide you if you asked the wrong person for the wrong thing. We waited yonks for a glass of tap water because the waiter we asked (who was standing around doing nothing) had to tell the drinks waiter (who was rushed off his feet) what we wanted so clearly teamwork was not part of the customer service training. It was quite funny to watch the floor show between the staff as they staked their territory if a little unprofessional. Parking is really difficult as it's kind of on a fairly grim roundabout near the arches - there is a small car park to the rear but mostly park in the station I recommend and a short stroll after that.

We ate here a couple of weeks ago when our favourite, the Spice Lounge, was full. It's OK, the staff aren't that friendly and the tables are very small and close together, but then again is only a small premises. What did bug me a little was the way the whole floor shook whenever someone walked past. Food was perfectly OK so we certainly didn't regret going.

Ordered a take away and was told it would be about forty minutes. Rang back after an hour. "It'll be about five minutes." Rang back again after an hour and twenty minutes, explained I wasn't happy, only for the phone at the other end to be put on the table so the guy could take another order. When another person finally picked the phone up again, I was told, "It'll be about five minutes."Food that finally came was not particularly good, and certainly was not worth a ninety minute wait.Take your hard earned cash elsewhere, is my advice.

Usually order home delivery but today I went in to collect my food. Not only were the staff friendly but I was also treated to a beautifully served warm brandy to help my cold whilst I waited. Food was tasty and hot as always.

Last Friday I had a dinner party with my friends in this restaurant. I got amazed to had those delicious food, it was excellent food I had ever and the service was tremendously excellent. They got nice and cordial staff who preparing and serving the foods.

Ate at the Lal Bagh this evening, myself Husband and two daughters (Kims table). We were very impressed with the service. Our waiter was extremely polite and knew how to be a true waiter. He did not impose or rush, but was observant and through observation he knew exactly when he was needed. Well done that man he was the icing on the cake as every dish we ordered was superb. We all had Tandoori Lamb Chops to start, they were the best loin chops thick, meaty and cooked to perfection.I had Chicken Dansak, the balance of sweet and sour was perfect with exactly the right amount of heat, the best I have had in a very long time. Chicken Tikka was lovely, Garlic Chilli Chicken not as hot as I would have liked but as it wasn't my dish who am I to comment! Sag sides super as was the vegetable samba, personally I prefer more fresh chilli but then I am a bit of a hot head. Pilau rice fluffy and separate grains, perfect and then there was the garlic nan bread. Oh my goodness puffy light and red hot- best ever. We did book an early table 6.30pm and perhaps this enabled the perfection. We will be back, defo.

I ordered a take-away from here, and I was told that it would take half an hour - I did not recieve my food until and hour and ten minutes later. I called the restaurant after 50 minutes and no apologies were made and they simply said it would be another 2-3 minutes, yet I waited another 20 minutes. To make matters worse, the food was cold when it arrived. There are plenty of other nice Indian restaurants in the area, I will be taking my business elsewhere.

I can't think of anything to recommend this place. Uninspiring food, shabby decor, indifferent service and totally devoid of atmosphere. The meat in my lamb madras was tough and chewy. I won't be going back.

Order took very long to prepare, even though it was a collection it took 40 minutes from time ordered. Don't recommend the online ordering system. Ordered a lamb madras, which was very runny. It could've been passed as a soup! Oily and lacking in flavour and substance. Poppadoms a bit stale. Everything else ordered was decent enough. Had two take aways from here now, won't have another.

I don't think this chef has got any idea about indian food and spices. We were served all stater and main course with large cut onions and same taste although being indian I know which curry contains what! The service was slow and ambiance was ok. Veg Pakora and garlic mushroom starter was shocker as they were the worst so far I have tasted and I can guaranty when I started cooking, I could have done better. I would not recommend the place and we were deceived by earlier excellent ratings which I suspect were fudged in

Have used this restaraunt previously but this is the first time for a delivered takeaway.Not impressed. Waited 50 mins for it to be delivered, it was luke warm so had to reheat.The special Biriani had very little meat in it, 3 pieces of lamb, 2 pieces of miniscule chicken and rubbery prawns. The rest of the meal in the containers were half empty.Will not be getting takeaway again from them.

This week we decided to order from a different curry takeaway. What a big difference in quality from our usual curry takeaway elsewhere. Lalbagh's quality was not what I had read from other reviews. So disappointed. Chicken and lamb were tough, portions were small, and curries were not tasty nor geniune. The boxes looked microwaveable curries. :-(

We have been ordering take aways from Lal Bagh for years now. Food always arrives hot and tasty and prices are average. We ate there with friends once and t wasn't the best experience as staff weren't very friendly and personal hygeine was lacking. They could do with having more offers on takeaways to save money. Overall I would say it is the best Indian take away in Bushey.

The well located restaurant was relatively easy to book online and by doing so my friends and I benefited from an unexpected 15% discounted off the food bill.The food choice was very extensive, the waiter was helpful and the drink choice was good - albeit a little expensive. Overall the food tasted great and the restaurant is well worth a visit.My only slight criticism is that parking locally is restricted, as some of my friends on the night discovered, thus best to utilise public transport.

Best restaurant in watford/bushey and we have been looking for a decent one for a while! We found this restaurant through trip advisor and thought we would try it. Fantastic service, even better food - they are willing to tailor dishes and they pay great attention to detail. We will be returning or ordering take aways!

I came all the way from Surrey with my family as i heard good reviews about this restaurant.... I must say they are are absolutely fantastic! Not only the food but the service was on point! I never come across such excellent customer service... Everyone must try this place, i definitely recommend it! :)
