Best Indian there is!! My partner has been coming here with his family since he was a little boy. When we fancy an Indian we always travel here because nothing compares. The staff look after you so well, always welcoming. Attentive. xxxx

The starters were very good but the main meals were very bland (Chicken Balti & Chicken Jalfrezi). It was like eating a Indian meal with all the 'magic' taken out.

When we 1st arrived and saw the menu, we were worried they had scaled down and it would not be as good as we remembered. We needn’t have worried. We had poppadoms , then starters - I had lamb chops, beautiful , big and tender. Julie had butter chicken starter- delicious and fresh. Main course - Julie had lamb Karai - beautifully tender again. My chicken naga, did exactly what the menu stated - very hot curry. All the food was hot and fresh, served on superb plates- individually dressed by the kitchen. What a great meal, staff were perfect, even catering for a 15 minute break between courses and the cobra beer was pretty good as well. All in all fantastic

there are a group of us who visit regularly. Staff are lovely and helpful, food is great. Also use it for takeaways. Never had cause for complaint.

my wife and i took my 89 year old mum for a curry on Saturday . we were first in at around 5.30 . staff were attentive and polite .the staff stayed a safe social distance throughout and there was plenty of hand sanitiser available . we choose 3 different curries for mains and shared 2 starters . think we over ordered with 2 side dishes of rice and one of chips but the waiter made up a takeaway bag of the leftovers for us. overall a safe and pleasant meal with good food .

I came here for the first time since it was local and I was astonished on how great the service was and how delicious the food was. It's an amazing restaurant to sit and eat with family and friends.

We visited early on a Thursday evening, where it was initially very quiet. The staff were friendly and attentive, food came out quickly and was very nice, the portions seemed fairly generous compared to other restaurants we’ve been to; I’ve never seen my boyfriend take away a doggy bag before! We both had mixed starters, one meaty and one veggie, both very nice. Followed by paneer tikka massala and lamb saag paneer, again both good. Would happily visit again.

I ordered a paneer madras and was served a chicken madras. On bringing this to the attention of the staff they laughed and informed me that I wouldn’t be charged for it. What should have been an enjoyable meal with friends turned out to be quite a quite an upsetting experience. Having been vegetarian for 26 years I was disappointed that I had just eaten a piece of chicken, and to top things off I had to go hungry whilst I sat and watched my friends finish their meal. Whilst I appreciate that mistakes can happen the customer service and way the whole situation was dealt with by the staff was appalling. I will not return.

The food was it and miss . But deffinatly not top noch . Wont be going again .Had to return my main course, friend just complained to the table about his . Chutney Massala is actually better food and one can take ones own drinks !

This has become our go to regular local. The menu is extensive whilst retaining variety and quality,with some welcome different dishes.I am a meat water but when I don't feel carnivorous, I love the vegetarian Thai which is like a taster menu in its own right,like tapas dishes.love it and love the speciality dishes,try something different every visit!

Came with friends and had a wonderful meal. Food was great and staff were helpful. Nice atmosphere. Good choices for meat eaters and vegetarians. Reasonably priced. Would recommend.

Booked a table for a visit 3rd February. 8 friends out for what should have been a fantastic night. Arrived on time to be left out in a freezing cold waiting area. 55 minutes later they took our order still in the cold waiting area. We were finally taken to our table 1 hour from walking in. Starters came straight away, nothing to write home about not much flavour I had lamb Bhaji puri and the bread was really doughy. Mains came and one of our friends had to send hers back as the chicken wasn’t cooked it was raw, which them dampened everyone night. Spent a silly about on drinks due to the fact we waited so long for anything to happen. Definitely won’t be going back.

We have been coming here for years as have my extended family. Spent quite a few NY Eve’s here too. So after today’s experience Lal Quilla have lost a decent customer base!

Came here with a big group, which I know the restaurant is designed to cater for. Despite this, our order was messed up and we had to wait an hour and a half for our very average food. They did give us free naan but this didn't make up for how incredibly rude the staff were. Won't be coming back

My family and I are regular visitors to this restaurant both as small and large parties. We gave had nothing but good food over the years and that includes the last four years when we have dined on Christmas day. The staff are always helpful cheery and polite and very patient when dealing with the large numbers of children that often accompany us. We are back again this Christmas very good value.

We visit this restaurant regularly because we love it! The FOH staff are lovely and treat customers with a lot of respect. The chef uses quality products and prepares his dishes with care. In our opinion, a faultless experience.

What a sensational meal. There with a group of friends, each course was sensational with a large range to choose from on the menu. Very tasty and superbly cooked. Very friendly staff. YUM!

We came here as a group of six with a six year old on a Monday. We had a wheelchair with us and staff were quick to help and knew what they were doing . What was also really good is that the children's menu isn't just the normal cop out chicken nuggets/fish fingers they also offered four Indian dishes and they made sure the spice in a starter was the right level for our six year old who loved the food here. The food was delicious and well presented....for me the chef's special menu is always fantastic and a must. The portion sizes are good we always end up with a doggy bag. Service is good and not intrusive. We've never had a bad meal here this is the first time I've reviewed it though

Had a takeaway from here only last night and just wow, curry was lovely, good temperature and really tasty. Service was quick, picked it up on my way home from work roughly 25 minutes drive away so really speedy too. Thoroughly enjoyed the meal and we are looking at going to eat in next time to sample some more amazing cuisine. Definitely going again soon.

Had dinner here midweek. Good choice of menu. Only thing missing is a good salmon curry. Nice staff. Never disappointed here.

Visited with a large group of friends last night, 22 of us in total. The food was some of the best Indian food we have ever had. The staff couldn't do enough to help they were so friendly and polite and the prices were good too. I had the Thali (tapas style 4 different small curries) I was really recommend this especially if you can't make your mind up. The lamb was amazing. Will definitely be back.

Very good food .We had been bowling at ashton and after reading the reviews on trip advisor for this restaurant and seeing the map showing it was so close we booked a table for us six, but as we found out the restaurant is around 6 miles away. SO TRIP ADVISOR SORT YOUR MAP OUT !!!!!

Staff always helpful and pleasant,food always good in the 8 years attended never had cause for complaint, earlier reviewer took exception to locals at the bar drinking who were probably ordering takeaways as this is something i do regularly and enjoy the friendly atmosphere hence why you have that extra pint before food is ready

Had a lovely evening here with the family, great food and service. The atmosphere needs work though as it's very brightly lit, feels a little like your gran's front room. I also can't understand why they allow some of their regulars (NOT diners!) to come in and stand around the bar boozing all night, right next to our dining table. Is it a pub or a restaurant?

We just passed this place and was hungry, really enjoyed this little hidden gem! The curries were delicious, I wanted something with more coriander taste, and the staff said I could have anything I wanted and they would add extra coriander in for me! The peshwari naan was amazing! I wanted more! Definitely would come back if we pass this way again!

I cannot rate this restaurant high enough. The food is out of this world and the staff bend over backwards to assist in giving advise about items on the menu. The surroundings are first class and are always sure of the warmest of welcomes. This place is very hard to beat

Went for a Saturday night mealWas very busy but the service was spot on. The food wasn't up to its normal tasty levels however. The lamb in my bhuna was tasteless and the sauce disappointingly bland - I'd asked for it to be made 'hot & spicy'. The pathia my missus had was also disappointing- not hot enough and far too sour. Benefit of the doubt means I will go again (especially given previous good experiences)

We were staying at the campsite just a five minute walk from this restaurant so it called to us. The "siren call" worked and what a delight that was. The menu was extensive offering everything that you expect on an Indian menu plus a number of chef's specials which were varied in content and style. The service was friendly and well paced. The interior was not ultra modern and warm and welcoming. The food was delicious. We eat a lot of Indian food and this ranks among the best we have ever tasted. The wine was what we expected and at a very good price. In fact the whole meal was an excellent price. We will be returning. If we lived in that area we would be there every week without a doubt.

i recently visited this brilliant restaurant for a meal on a sunday night with family for a meal , i decided to have a mixed starter for £3.90 which consisted of chicken tikka , onion bhaji and sheek kebab , which was served quickly and very nice and tasty a great way to start a meal , for my main course i decided to order a chicken samber which again was served quickly very tasty dish cooked very well with great flavours and spices , i can highly recommend this restaurant as a great place to eat for any occasion , also this restaurant is child friendly as we had my 1 year old nephew with us and the staff already put a high chair and made a place for him at the table great food , brilliant value especially the sunday special which i opted for 5 courses for £10.95 great value the normal menu is also very reasonable

Family meal with our one year old. Baby was well catered for. Very good Sunday evening menu deal which was excellent value for money. The Pathia was very nice indeed and a substantial portion. Great service from friendly staff who were only too keen to help. My only gripe would have been the rice on the floor by our table from a previous meal.

We had been going to go to a place in Stalybridge but it was closed so on the way home stopped of here.Service was good except for one lad who took our starters away without a word and then dropped cutlery everywhere - I didn't mind that so much but a simple was 'everything ok?' would have been nice.They do a Sunday offer menu which has a good amount of choice and includes poppadum's - starter-main -side and even a coffee or an ice cream for a shade over £10Food was good in the main. I had a chicken chat which was disappointing the chicken wasn't great and it lacked flavour. Sheek kebab was nice. The mrs had a chicken and mushroom dish which didn't look like we expected but tasted nice and I had a passanda that was very good and the lamb was good quality.Rice was OK naan a bit small but tasted good.We paid just under £32 so average price wise - I would go again

Visited at tea-time on Thursday 13 August, there was six of us and we had pre-booked our table. We were seated in the front lounge initially while we waited for the last two of our party. They do a tea-time special deal Monday to Thursday 5:00 to 7:00 pm which is good value for money, we had all arrived by 6:40 pm and were only offered the a la carte menu, I had to ask for the tea-time menu. I shouldn't have to ask, I felt it was a case of if you're not aware of it they'd not offer it, I docked a mark due to this, if you're offering early diner deals, don't hide them from early diners! Food was plentiful so no complaints from any of us, it wasn't a case of 'Pay Less, Get Less' as is sometimes the case with special deals. Strangely my Madras wasn't as hot and spicy as it usually is, also staff we usually see weren't evident, it could have been their night off, just wondering if there has been some management changes recently. Having said all that we will return, including tip it was £90 for a pint of Cobra each, a dozen poppadoms, two naan, chutney tray, starter, main course with pilau rice, that's £15 a head, great value.

We've been eating here for many years, and make a 20 mile round trip to do so. The service is fantastic, and the staff could not be any more attentive. As well as all the regular curries, there is a large selection of specials too. There's something for everyone, and they're always willing to sprinkle on a few extra chillies for those who like an extra kick to their food. We've never had a bad meal, and simply can not recommend it highly enough!

Arrived at around 7pm on a Saturday with a group of 6. We were waiting for someone to arrive so we asked if we could sit in the waiting area / lobby / bar area and we were given drinks straight away. The entrance area where the seating area was located was very nice, great ambience and decor. After our whole party had arrived we were seated - we were swiftly ready to order and our chutney tray / popodoms arrived very quickly and yet were very fresh. A lot of onions / pickle / mint sauce / chutneys, good portions for a table of 6 and nice flavours and fresh.Our mains came shortly after our starters (We were asked if ready to eat mains) and all the curries were served in the hot copper balti dishes. We had ordered - chicken and mixed jalfrezy. 2 chicken tikka masalas, 1 garlic chicken special and 1 chicken tikka balti. Everybody was over the moon with their meals - they said it was very fresh, hot, lovely flavours. Very very impressed. We also ordered some naan bread and paratha and pilau rice which all came with the mains at the same time. We were attended to frequently by the staff members, all of which were very helpful and friendly and attentative. 100% reccomend this place - and when back in the area, will come again, without a doubt!

Our long distance relatives were in town and my nephew loves to go for an Indian meal whilst here, so we decided to book in here on many, many recommendations of how good it is.The place itself is quite big, but a bit packed. There were quite a lot of people there and there was a nice atmosphere. The menu was varied and included some very interesting sounding dishes. The staff were (in my experience) typical Indian restaurant quality; Warm, smiling, friendly, willing to do everything they could to keep you happy.We ordered our food and had to wait quite a while. I've noticed this in the larger establishments, where every dish is cooked to order it can take a long time for food to arrive. When it arrived it looked glorious, the Pilau rice was colourful, the dishes were full of meat and vegetables and looked very appetising.But I was to be left very, very disappointed. I'm not into the stupidly hot curries, I prefer something a bit more flavoursome and I've found some places who can do a Dopiaza or a Rogan Josh that are simply exquisite. But here, nothing of the sort. My Dopiaza tasted purely of onions. I know it's an onion based dish, but I'd expect to have some sort of spice in there to liven it up and I've been to places that really make it shine, but this was a bitter disappointment. It was the same with all the other dishes ordered. In fact, one of the orders was for my young Great Nephew, who isn't a lover of spicy food. The kitchen messed up the order and forgot to make his dish with fewer spices, but even he commented on how unspicy it all was. Or maybe the kitchen just made all the dishes without spices.The prices are on a par with other places I've been to and the staff were very good, as expected. But the food, although looking good, needs to be more flavoursome. It was very disappointing and I'd hope they will rectify this as soon as possible. I'm giving the Lal Quilla 3 blobs, but I was seriously considering only two, it's that close a call.In the meantime, I'm going to keep slogging over to Dukinfield to the Curry Cottage.

Been coming here for approx.15 years now! Food is delicious.Staff fantastic.Have always been looked after.Nothing is too much trouble for them.Would recommend this great restaurant to anyone.

This restaurant is excellent and is a must visit for any lovers of indian cuisine! a wide and varied menu but if this is your first visit the set meal is a good place to start! The staff are so friendly and the standard of service first class. Always busy with a nice atmosphere. Excellent value for money and for me the best indian food for miles around.

We were told to book as it is a very popular restaurant. I ordered a Lamb Tikka Marsala which I was unable to cut let alone chew and my friend had a Lamb Jalfrezi which was nothing like any Jalfrezi she had ever had before. We are foodies so imagine our disappointment. We are sorry but we are unable to recommend this restaurant to anyone who knows what a good curry tastes like.

Called in on a busy Saturday night after 7 and it was really busy. We had not booked, though me and my wife was immediately given attention by amazing and attentive waiters. Went yesterday for a meal with 3 other friends. The meal was fantastic! Service was great and food was amazing. Highly recommend this place for a sociable and affordable meal.

We called for tea after collecting our daughter from nursery and were pleasantly surprised by both the service and standard of food! The waiting staff are very attentive and the food has a real depth of flavour to it, not just loads of spice to numb your mouth! Will return and recommend!!

Came for the first time last night, under recommendation. Won't be our last visit, very impressed. Was busy for a Sunday night too, a few bigger tables in but service wasn't affected. Lovely food, delicious flavours, good choice and staff more than happy to recommend and change the dish slightly. We are going to use now on for our take always too. Yet another great meal. The staff a very friendly and go out of their way to look after you. The food is always good and the updated menu has some great new dishes. Went for a biriani this time - which I wouldn't normally choose as I like quite spicy curries. The sauce they made for me was fantastic. Much more spicy than normal and with great flavours. I would highly recommend this restaurant and, if you're not sure if you will like the dish, just to adapt it to your particular taste. They really do work hard to make sure you enjoy your food.

i went here for a meal with my sister and brother in law on the 19/7/2014 , we hadn't bookedand although it was busy a sat night we got a table straight away and shown to our table and given menu's the selection on the menu was fantastic i decided to have a mixed starter and a chefs special consisting of lamb chops in a sauce , the food was fantastic one of the best meal's i have had the staff we're superb polite and very efficient and pleasant i will be returning to this fantastic establishment for some more fantastic food

I visited here with my hubby and a small group of friends. We had booked a table and were actually very late. We had rang ahead and this wasn't a problem at all. Upon our arrival we received a warm welcome and were shown to our table and menus were brought and drinks sorted out.The food was fabulous and there was a very good choice. My curry had a large chilli on top and I love chillis so I ate this no problem. It was a hot one. My friend got the same too and his was very hot as well. Our other friend asked if they could bring some of those chillis out so that he could try them and the waiter brought a plate out with quite a few on. We all ate some more and had a bit of a chilli challenge going. All good fun. The waiter was happy to take our photos too and we all had a really good evening with great food.I will definitely visit here again. I don't normally eat out at Indian Restaurants and just order takeaways but I think that will have to change.

We decided to give Lal Quila a try, based solely on its Trip Advisor rating, and we were not disappointed. We went in a group of 19 to celebrate my wife's birthday. First thing we noticed was that we were allowed to order from the main menu, and not be tied to a paltry 'party menu' with no choice, like we have had before at other restaurants. Considering the numbers involved I thought the service was really good, and we were not kept waiting hours for food. Another plus point was that they were willing to do separate orders/bills for the mix of couples and families which saved hours of trying to work out who owed what when the bill arrived. The price of most main meals is probably only £1-50 more than you would pay for a takeaway, and my garlic chicken starter followed by Lamb Bhuna only came to around £10. Will definitely be going more often, as they have a Monday to Thursday early bird offer from 5pm to 7pm which is even better value.

Probably around my fourth visit to this restaurant and food was excellent as always. We ordered meat samosas, onion bhajis, garlic chilli chicken and lamb tikka madras. Everything was excellent, including the madras which a lot of curry houses seem to struggle with. Highly recommended!

Been going here since they opened some 3 or 4 times a year. Never been let down and they really do remember you. Not expensive and a good range of slightly different dishes. Well recommended.

first experience of lal quila and collect a take out. The currys we ordered were delicious ( chicken tikka jalfrezi, lamb rogan josh & saag aloo). all of which are supposed to be spicy dishes but many places are mediocre and feeble. not at lal quilla, fragrant spices and fresh slices of chillis. would recommend and will be returning for more.

We done an early bird with family. Quiet to begin with but gradually filled up as the evening progressed.Good menu choice, attentive staff and service. Food was well presented, and good quality. Prices were very reasonable.If there is any criticism then I will say lacked a bit of atmosphere, that may be due to us being there before it got busy. Would definitely use again.

We had been recommended Lal Quilla by friends and so visited one evening this week. Overall we found the food to be very average - poorer than we expected. The restaurant itself is quite dated and the music is terrible - Michael Jackson - beat it! I have nothing against Michael Jackson but not when I am eating a curry in a restaurant! On a positive note the staff were very friendly

Had another great meal this weekend at Lal Quilla, Service is second to none with just the right balance of attention and and time and space to enjoy the meal.Food is an absolute joy here. If you've reached the big 5.0., like what I 'ave, you might enjoy the Sarga (not quite SAGA) chicken or lamb starter. Be prepared for a good green chilli hit though.For mains I can recommend the Kabuli, lots of chick peas, and the chicken Chilli shashlick stir fry. Probably got the tittle wrong but ask for it like that and they'll know what you mean, it's very popular.

I have visited too many times to count now and each time the food and service have been excellent. The staff will do everything they can to make your experience a positive one and they will be happy to make you something even if not on the menu (if possible)I have been with friends and also with my young daughter who loves the korma!

If carlsberg made curry houses this would be the one they made. The food , staff and surroundings are brilliant. Excellent value for money and food to die for!

Since my last review of Lal Quilla we have visited 3 times. At each visit the food has been consistently good, the staff very friendly. There is always a buzz about the place. This restaurant caters for all tastes. The waiters are friendly and helpful and will advise on dishes you are uncertain about. All ages visit and all are welcomed?We enjoy the report with the owner who meets aNd greets host customers and spe ds time with us and all his customers. the portion sizes are very good and true value for money. We cannot fault it.

This Indian restaurant has been established for over 10 years . I have eaten here many times with family and friends . Always great service and food. Wish I could visit more often .Bollywood nights are great fun . If you are in the Mossley, Ashton under Lyne area and fancy an excellent curry , don't hesitate , go to Lal Quilla .
