Lal Bagh used to be great - now with new owners I was able to have the worst experience! A simple family evening out with my wife and two young kids. We have been coming to this restaurant for at least 8 years, since we moved to Bushey. I has changed hands, I think post pandemic. There used to be really friendly staff their who cared about their customers and quality of the food. In my opinion this is no longer the case. On this occasion there there were two, maybe three young people running the restaurant. Two were on laptops at the front the the dining area. We ordered drinks and food. To cover the food - mediocre at best. Popadoms were not fresh. This is where it does wrong. My wife had ordered a diet coke. When it came it was flat. No waiting staff coming to our table so she asked the two, on the laptops, about the flat coke. She was rudely told that they had just opened the bottle to it could not be flat. Totally dismissed the matter. We finished our food and got the bill. I went to the front to pay. I explained to the the lady member of staff who had come away from her laptop to take payment that I thought if was awful the way they had treated my wife. The other chap got up from his laptop and stood next to me starring at me, quiet menacingly. I asked why he was doing this and the lady said he was looking after her safety. I asked if I was being rude or threatening. She said I was not. Yet he continued to stare at me as if preparing for a fight. I will of course never go back to a restaurant which I have probably spent many hundreds of pounds over the years. All over a small glass of coke that they could not be bothered to deal with. If the bottle cost £1 they would have had to deal with 30p worth. Amazing. Will not recommend and suggest anyone thinks twice about going here.

Simple ordering online. A couple of questions via phone as one of us is coeliac sorted out quickly. Could specify a time for collection. Ready at the exact time and 20% discount as we were collecting. Delicious and a real treat at this time of lockdown.

Our group booked here, and we're welcomed by the staff. The meal was an average Indian meal, but the prices for drinks came as a surprise. £5.50 may be charged in a more up-market place, but £5.95 for a bottle of fizzy water was not expected. Sadly, this rather took away any enjoyment of the occasion, hence my low rating. Nobody likes to be "ripped off"!

Pedí una para llevar en línea y llegamos allí y que no habían visto mi orden. Luego intentaron cobrarme más. Para rematar la comida era terrible!

Not the best indian but not the worse. Will we go back? No. Staff so so. They look like they do not want to be there. In this day and age with so many restaurants to choose from you really need to try very hard to impress your customers. Service was just not good enough. Food was very average.

We went to Lal Bagh for the first time this week based on the reviews we had read on Trip Advisor and were shocked by how far from the truth the positive reviews were. Our experience was awful from start to finish and we actually felt harassed by the staff. We couldn't have left any faster. Atmosphere: There was just one other couple and us in the restaurant (on a Friday night no less) at the time so presumably this is why the restaurant decided not to bother putting any music on. The effect of this was that every bite of poppadum we ate could be heard across the room. It was extremely uncomfortable. Food: We ordered a mixed grill of meats, a duck tikka masala and a saag aloo which was allegedly a special of the house. The grill was very dry - especially the lamb and chicken. It was also totally lacking in flavour. The duck was quite simply horrible. It was tough, flavourless and overcooked and swimming in a toxic looking orange sauce that tasted a bit like baby formula. It was flat, sweet and disgusting. The extra trimmings we ordered - poppadums and peshwari naan bread - were identical to the ones you buy in the supermarket. There was simply nothing authentic about them. It was a total con. Staff: This was what really made our experience awful. The staff initially seemed attentive and friendly. However, at the end of our meal a strange incident occurred. We had left some of our food behind because of how bad it had tasted. We didn't complain and when the staff came to clear our table, they hovered for a moment as if to question why we had left the food. We noticed this and not wishing to offend we told them we would take the rest as a doggy bag. When the man who I assume was the manager returned with our doggy bag he turned to me, and I must stress here that this was in no way directed to my partner, but solely to myself, and said verbatim: "Would you like to have a drink with me?" I was sure there had been a breakdown in communication or that there was a language barrier so I asked him to repeat himself. Three more times the manager asked me if I would have a drink with him, directly in front of my partner, and seemed to have absolutely no consideration for how inappropriate this was. Speechless, I just looked at my partner. The manager then turned and said to my partner: "If you don't have a drink with me this time, you must promise that when you come back you will have a drink next time". We graciously agreed to do so next time, assuming that the man was desperate not to lose custom, and basically ran the hell out of there. I have never experienced such inappropriate, awkward service and such poor food. I wouldn't go back if you paid me.

My favourite Indian restaurant. Friendly staff and wonderful food. It's my local so very convenient for our many visits. Great takeaway service too.

Food was healthy enough but plain and a bit of a mish mash. The place was out of noodles but absurdly decided to not have any rice made which took an hour. Only one member of staff (polite lad with a cast on his arm) thought to compensate us with a starter. Got drinks wrong and got no warning from our server. Generally awful experience.

Is this venue still operating? I placed an order online for takeaway meal on 11th July. My money was taken but there was no confirmation and the food didn’t arrive. I have tried phoning but no one answers. I have sent msg requesting refund but so far have had no response.
