We ate breakfast here as we were staying the Doubletree. Covid restrictions meant that there was more queuing which worsened as the coffee machine broke down. Overall the food was not bad but this was not normal times so choice was reduced.

While resident at the Hilton Doubletree, we enjoyed two very nice dinners here. A relaxed experience, but still a certain atmosphere in this airy, open and comfortable dining room - what a contrast to the busy breakfast sitting! The set menus have variety, are prepared and presented well, and are really very good value! The staff are efficient and polite. Would recommend the Lakeside Restaurant!

Lakeside is the restaurant at the Doubletree by Hilton in Cheltenham located at Charlton Kings. I had several breakfasts here plus one evening meal. Although the breakfast service was a little restricted due to pandemic measures, the food was nevertheless decent, with a reasonable selection of hot items, plus a good range of juices, fruit, yoghurt, pastries and hot beverages. I had an early dinner one night in order to view the England v Denmark football match in my room. To start, I had melon and ham, roast of the day (gammon) for main and Eton Mess for dessert. I had a large gin & tonic, a large glass of Chardonnay and an Irish coffee to accompany the food. Everything, including the service, was very good and the gammon with the accompanying vegetables was particularly satisfying. Cost was around £45.

This is the restaurant of the Double Tree hotel. Friendly waiting staff, a good range of dishes on offer and reasonably priced. Nice outlook over the gardens and pond (lake is a bit of an exaggeration!).

The food was lovely! Everything tasted really nice. The chicken breast was a little on the dry side for most tastes, but I like it that way. The service wasn’t the best, just haphazard. I think this is because of the (lack of) organisation and the Maitre 'D. We had three waitresses rather than one. Each was friendly when at our table, but they were incredibly adept at avoiding our gaze. The result was that we had to ask for wine twice, water twice and chase up our dessert twice too! While waiting ages for our dessert we sat and watched ALL the waitresses clearing tables. Our relaxing evening turned into a day at the office. A bad day!!!

The staff are so friendly and helpful, happy to provide advice on choices and attentive without being in your face. The menu has some great choices. It's not Michellin Star quality, but it's not pretending to be and is certainly not expensive, so overall I think the offering is excellent and would happily eat here again on my next stay for work

We had four breakfasts and four evening meals at the restaurant. The breakfasts were all fine - good choices, hot food, self service. We arrived on Sunday evening expecting the full menu. NOT A CHANCE. 3 starters, 3 mains, 3 puds. The soup was served in a warm jug and after you had poured it yourself into a tepid/cold bowl the soup was tepid - style over substance. The three mains - curry, salmon, veggie were disappointing. The other three evenings we really enjoyed our full menu options. Not fine dining but very palatable. No information on the website that a much reduced menu was offered on Sunday...BEWARE. Service was leisurely but friendly. Ilze and Daniele were very professional.

We stayed at Hilton Cheltenham for my husbands birthday this weekend just gone, and enjoyed a lovely meal at The Lakeside Restaurant. The food was excellent, king prawn starter was absolutely delicious, broccoli and stilton soup very good, husbands steak tender, the chicken dish I ate was excellent, very tasty and desert delicious. The red house wine was also good (Spanish Shiraz and the Merlot). Staff very friendly and even a small bottle of Prosecco with 2 glasses bought over by the head waiter to wish my husband happy birthday.. a nice touch. We enjoyed a window seat watching the Yellow Wagtails performing over the lake as we ate and the waiter opened the doors for us to go have a look at the lake and birds after our. meal.. nothing too much trouble, a lovely dining experience :) Many Thanks to waiting staff and Chef & kitchen staff :)

After staying in the double tree hotel we decided to eat here for convenience but it turned out to be a good choice. The positives. Every bit of food we ordered tasted really nice. The service wasn’t the best and just seemed really disjointed. I think this might of been down more to the individuals as we were served by 5 different people and 2 of those were good 1 was particularly good but the other 3 seemed a bit inexperienced maybe. Our order seemed to get messed up we ordered 2 starters and only received one then the other came out later. We ordered a side with our mains that we received after we had both finished our mains. The breakfast the next day was very nice with lots of choice and to a high standard.

Excellent food! I had oriental chilli prawns to start, first night, which were fabulous, I wished I'd had them again on night 2 but we had to pre-order. Had the Chef's curry first night, which was very ordinary and seemed to be thigh meat. I didn't eat most of it but no reflection on the food, anything would have been disappointing after the prawns. Night two I had the smoked salmon and mousse which was lovely too, followed by chicken breast with bacon and sundries tomatoes. Huge portion, again, i couldn't finish but just too much for me. I didn't eat dessert. Good wine list and good service.

We ate here as staying the night at hotel. Friends joined us and as it was early (7pm) it was all but empty. We had lots to talk about and so had to keep asking the young waitress to give us more time, which didn't seem to be a problem. The menu is quite small, which for me is always a good thing as I am not good at making decisions. We did choose our drinks quite quickly, but the waitress brought the wrong wine and took some persuading that she had made a mistake! She did bring the correct one in the end, which was a rose pino spumante, and then proceeded to pour it into the red wine glasses on the table. We did not argue as we had already had to correct her wine choice, so just continued with what we had which just didn't feel right. Most of the food was well cooked and very tasty, my stuffed chicken breasts were lovely - good job there were 2 as the potato stack was cooked around the edges but hard in the centre. My friend ordered the curry but only when they assured him it would be a very mild one, however when it came it was far too hot but they did take it away and cool it down with lots of yoghurt! Towards the end of the mains we were asked if everything was alright, and I did mention my potatoes just as feedback really and the waiter offered to replace it and said he would inform chef. I would say that on the whole service was good and that the initial problems with the wine were due to lack of experience. The place certainly does lack atmosphere, but this may have been due to the lack of customers on this particular Saturday night. I would not visit here especially to eat again unless I has cause to stay the night at the hotel.

This restaurant is part of the DoubleTree by Hilton, Cheltenham Hotel. We had two lots of both dinner and breakfast here while staying at the hotel. Although all of the food was good to very good, the service was a problem. Service at breakfast was acceptable but in the evening, it was hit and miss and all a bit haphazard.

Went for mothers day lunch. Probably the worst meal I have ever had made with the cheapest, nastiest ingredients. I live round the corner but will never, ever return.

On Saturday evening we were booked in to the restaurant for an evening meal as part of our deal .We were entitled to a bottle of wine with our meal per couple this was the house wine but we were told we could pay the difference to upgrade we chose to do that. There was a minimal charge on certain items to upgrade also but not extreme. We had a three course meal of Michelin star quality. The service was of great quality which we all enjoyed.

The meat grill platter is nothing like the picture you see it is basically 6 chicken wings and the rest is veg and a bit of rice.. Totally not what you expect at all!! Such a shame cause it's a nice place, but I cannot think of a worse misadvertisement ever!!!! It should be advertised as a veg platter !! When I complained the waiter said the wrong picture was on Groupon but that picture had been on there for a least a couple of months if not more. Did give us some ribs and a handful of chips but did not make up for the disappointment..
