Staff Great Main course Rissoto was just a mussy mess lacked taste and Asparagus burnt Chicken was like rubber and broccoli so badly burnt was not edible . Dessert choclate fondant and ice cream good. We were told that a trainee was in the kitchen while the head chef was somewhere else . This was a gift from a special person so very disappointed. We were offered coffee but declined

Really poor experience. Just me and my 18 yo daughter for lunch Food took 45 minutes to arrive. During most of that time no waiting staff were present in the eating area; when I wanted another drink I had to go and wait outside the kitchen door until someone emerged My daughter's pizza was £16: the base was one of those pre-made bread disks (out of a packet I would think) the green pepper pieces were grey, and the pizza had a really weird flavour. She said 'it's not the best', I thought it was unpleasant to eat. My toasted sandwich was OK but had too much vinegar in the sauce. The slaw that came with it was weary to say the least - the apple slices had browned. It certainly wasn't fresh. The rocket in the side salad was wilted and not fresh either. I again had to find a staff member to order our coffees, as I did again when asking for the bill. And was it just me or did the staff seem fed up...? I wouldn't recommend and won't go again!

We dropped by for a sandwich lunch on a sunny day because my wife had seen the lakeside setting on the hotel's website, and it's handily located for the Chevein. The terrace overlooking the small lake surrounded by trees was pleasant, and no doubt even prettier when some of the plants in the water are in flower. Unfortunately the rest felt pretty mediocre. The waiting staff seemed thin on the ground and a bit frazzled, as there were quite a few groups there (not many, though). The website said there are vegetarian and vegan options but apart from an option involving cheese, not a lot. When we asked, I was invited to suggest what I wanted! That way I ended up with a wrap with some hummus and a layer of unidentified greenery. The hummus was bland and I'm not sure what the green leaves were, while the wrap was unpleasantly soft. J's smoked salmon sandwich was undistinguished. Both were modestly sized and there was no accompanying salad or anything, which at £4.95 a throw meant they were probably 100% overpriced. Obviously it's possible that everything else they do is much better, but I'm afraid after this poor showing we wouldn't give them another chance.

Where to start? Should I begin with the horrendous price tag of £247 for 2 nights stay (breakfast not included) for a basic double (Room 17 avoid if possible); should I comment on the avocado green bathroom suite with a shower placed adjacent to an angled roof, fit only for a person 4 foot 6 inches or smaller? Or the lack of water pressure so it might have been easier to wash in a puddle or in the sink? Would you like to hear about the 30 minute check in process, the inability to book a spa session as all were full or the abundant wild life living under your cabins and the hotel building?....thank god we were on the 2nd floor. My husband is a smoker so stood outside the reception area for a cigarette watching the rats playing around the buildings on our first night and I photographed several rat holes the next morning (and yes reception WERE informed about this). Food at the restaurant, expensive but of good quality we did think it an absolute cheek to charge a FURTHER £8 on the already inflated prices if you wanted a steak. We had selected this hotel under recommendation in order to attend a friends wedding....(incidentally they were asked to switch rooms on the day of their wedding due to problems with the bathroom in their room).... I would avoid this place at all costs unless you want to film a third rate amateur horror movie involving natural wildlife after dark....Room 17 should be avoided at all costs....

3 courses for £31 is really expensive given the portion sizes. The food was mediocre compared to the price tag. Staff were ok, my server got my dinner wrong and I had to send it back, an £8 suppliment for a sirloin steak is bonkers money. Nothing special, wouldn't bother eating here and won't be returning. There were flies on the windows while we were eating, it just needs doing up.

We had 2 breakfasts and 2 dinners in the Lakeside Restaurant as part of the spa package. The breakfast is very good, you have included as usual the coffee, toasts, pastries, jam, fruit, cereals..., and then a hot meal which is good quality. The first dinner was somewhat disappointing, as the tomato soap seemed quite artificial, and the risotto was too thick. Second dinner, excellent; and the service very good always. To mention that it is quite expensive for what you eat.

This place has an amazing view and I love the whole wooden lodge decor. It is quite romantic. We ordered from the a la carte menu for dinner - I had crispy pork belly to start but when I saw it was a bit disappointed - it was very dry but the accompanying pickle type sauce was so delicious. My main was a fillet of steak served with bernaise with seasonal veg, chips and vine tomatoes. Not going to lie - it wasn't the best fillet steak I have had had - I expect a juicy, melt in the mouth type of steak when I order fillet and this wasn't it. It was a bit tough and they had overdone as I asked for it rare. I had to send the bernaise sauce back as it didn't taste right and got a delicious peppercorn sauce instead. All in all it was just average. Staff were really friendly and polite so it kind of cancelled out the disappointing food. It's nice place but I wouldn't go back for food.

The lamb I ordered was rump cooked medium with mash pots, blue cheese sauce and veggies, so it then arrived v. v. rare with tomatoes and "Aunt Bessies Oven chips". The mash eventually arrived cold and the blue cheese sauce was like aired milk. The restaurant supervisor was great, but if the food is pants so is everything else.

I contacted the aforementioned hotel directly on Tuesday 19 August to book 4 people for the Taster Menu at 1900hrs on the evening of Saturday 23 August 2014. Additionally I contacted the hotel on the morning of Saturday 23 August to confirm the taster menu and indeed the booking. When we arrived at the hotel at 18.45 the receptionist informed us that she was unaware of our booking, stating that the restaurant did not open until 18.30……she duly motioned that we should sit in the bar…..We ordered a beverage and sat there waiting until 19.15hrs. The receptionist beckoned us out of the bar and instructed us to go to the restaurant…at no time where we escorted to the restaurant, we had to guess its location!! When we arrived in the restaurant area we stood there glasses in hand whilst the lone waiter took the order of the lone 2 diners in the restaurant area. Eventually the waiter showed us to our table. We were offered both menus despite having pre-ordered the taster menu.I must admit that the service during the initial 3 courses was exemplary, moreover I will add that the first three courses were well prepared and tasty albeit cold!! Sadly the meal severely went down- hill from there! The main course of beef cheek was cold and dry in consistency and Salmon & Lentil with ribbon vegetables was also clap cold and to say that the salmon was over cooked would be an absolute understatement, it had a crumbly consistency! We politely sent the main course back stating that it was cold, dry and over cooked. The 4 main courses returned 10 minutes later…alas the food was tepid, the salmon was now inedible, the beef cheek rendered to a mush. I suspect that the chef had merely warmed up the existing food and rearranged it on the plate. It was truly inedible and as previously stated tepid. Dismayed and indeed embarrassed for my guests (my Mother and her friend) I requested to speak to the duty manager, I was greeted by a Matt Gildar who I believe is the restaurant & functions manager. He duly took a written note of my complaint stating that he would get back to me. He proffered a coffee in the bar. At this point the dessert had arrived…alas this too was dry, tasteless and dare I say inedible. The cheese offered was also below standard…..dry!Please understand that my husband and I had chosen the Chevin Country Park Hotel due to its location to our home address (we live in Pool-in-Wharfedale). My Mother and her friend are visiting us for the week. Our intention was to take them for a lovely meal in a beautiful setting…hence our booking at your hotel. Unfortunately, the entire experience rendered us hugely disappointed. I must admit that I am left feeling mightily embarrassed by the entire experience. The way in which the duty functions manager dealt with my complaint was dismissive at best and not fitting a hotel chain such as yours and the food was absolutely appalling….sorry but it really was! After being left at our table despite the offer of ‘coffee at the bar’…..we vacated our dining table. I walked to the reception to summon the manager once again. I offered to pay our bill stating that I would be contacting head office and the General Manager given the dreadful level of service and appalling standard of food. Matt Gilder informed me that he had reduced the bill by 50%....I duly but reluctantly paid £77.27p and we left the premises with haste…vowing never to return.I must admit that my Mother and her friend are wholly disappointed by their experience and as stated my husband and I are mightily embarrassed and indeed annoyed that we were subjected to what can only be described as dismissive, banal customer service and appalling, dreadful food quality!!

We had the a la carte menu at night which was also superb with quite eloquent food however some courses were a little bit cold maybe due to the fact that our party was quite large. The service was quite good - however the waiter dropped a few items of crockery and our party wasn't all sat at the same table for breakfast. Our package was DBB+wine, table-d'hote dinner being six courses (some quite small, we were worried we'd be hungry to start with, but the starter and sweet were almost full size, and overall th quantity seemed aboutright) plus coffee. Bottle of wine was very drinkable. Choice fairly limited, though there was always a vegetarian option. Quality and presentation was very good. Staff were lovely - sufficiently attentive and very friendly.Possible to "upgrade" to the main menu, but we thought the supplements were a bit steep - indeed, the listed price for the set dinner (over £30) seemed a lot on its own. But as part of a Hotel package with wine we were very pleased. Breakfast was in the same restaurant was outstanding: plenty of choice, and although a buffet the hot food was cooked to perfection.

Choice was limited, two each for starter, main and dessert, but the quality and presentation was so good that we saw it as an opportunity to try something different rather than a restriction. For example, normally we might not have chosen venison, but it was absoutely superb. The Lakeside's AA rosette seems well-merited. Breakfast was very good also: excellent fresh-fruit salad, eggs beautifully cooked, whether poached or scrambled, perfect croissants. Overall, an excellent experience, though had we been paying the listed £30+ for the set dinner we'd probably have appreciated more choice.

So friendly and helpful. Everyone we met smiled and could not do enough to make our stay especially memorable. A special mention to Rob who had time for us and all the guests and was so very kind and helpful. We stayed over Xmas and certainly could not fault the food or the atmosphere. It was wonderful to have vegetables 'al dente' and not soggy or overcooked. The menu was varied and you'd be hard put not to find something that suited your taste buds. The meals were always hot and well presented and the steak was to die for!!The snow just added to the magic of the place and made you just want to snuggle up in front of the roaring log fires which were kept well stoked at all times. The only fault was mine -I had booked the 4 day break but wish we could have stayed for the week. Well next year that's just what we'll do!!

I think the title says it all!The food was great and very good value at £30 per person for 3 courses. It was all cooked to a very high standard. The view outside onto the lake is fantastic - you don't get this in the town centre restaurants! The restaurant is also beautifully decorated.

This restaurant is the best feature of the Chevin Country Park Hotel. My seared scallops with a bacon ravioli in garlic sauce, followed by fillet steak in pepper sauce were absolutely top quality and cooked to perfection. My wife's crab tian with green tea sorbet, followed by roast monkfish with crushed new potatoes and spring vegetables were also excellent. The wine list is limited, but adequate, and very reasonably priced. The restaurant has a large picture window wall looking out over the pretty lake, and the decor is muted but pleasant. Highly recommended.

Not what it once was -- the menu used to be modern and inspired, but it seems to have slid into the standard 'traditional British' vein so common in touristy places. The food is prepared reasonably well and service is flawless, but now seems overpriced for what it is.

Wonderful! Very beautiful, we booked my daughter and her boyfriend in for a meal for his birthday (they were both 16 a few days apart!) and they made it beautiful for them. They said the food was amazing and the service was second to none - i'd especially like to thank Sam and Tom. Would recommend to anybody. Thank you so much!

Feeling peckish my friend decided he wanted fish & chips, we were on the Headrow so l thought of Nash's even though l've never eaten there. The reason for that is the business & alley approach looks so unwelcoming. And it did again...7 large green general waste dustbins right outside, rubbish everywhere. Now l know this is not the fault of Nash's but it's plain off-putting, they could screen it off for a small outlay. Secondly l said to my pal "lt's shut", everything about it led me to thinking that, even with an "open" flyer on the door, l was amazed the door opened when l pushed it. Oh oh, totally empty, no food in the fryers, really strange. The woman behind the counter was great, she explained that it was cooked fresh & wouldn't take long. 2 fish & chips were ordered and tbh l was not expecting much. I was wrong, the fish was really good and the chips fine & plentiful, mushy peas ok if a bit watery. The only negative was the tomato sauce, it was terrible, orange & cheap. Whilst we were eating 2 other customers arrived, so 4 in probably 40 minutes there. There is something wrong here, the food was good, the woman friendly & efficient but it is devoid of any atmosphere or decent furnishings, to me it looks like totally wasted potential. I'd probably give it another try, maybe l caught it on an unusually quiet day, but still, please make an effort on the approach & frontage to make it more welcoming, l'm sure it'd make huge difference.

£8.70 for a small portion of haddock and chips with a drink. The batter was completely soggy. Definitely not a proper fish and chip shop. Such a shame, as the staff seemed very nice. Hygiene around the premises seemed an issue.

Called in for a quick beer with my partner, I noticed there was a staff member from the Wakefield spoons, now one of the team managers at Morley, I spoke to her and she basically just ignored me, don't think this is professional from a management member. All other staff were friendly and polite, won't go back to that venue again.

We thought to come for dinner as the food is usually okay but today was outrageous! We ordered and didn’t receive our drinks for 30 minutes. Then we had to wait a further 1hr30minutes for our starters to arrive. We ordered Garlic bread that came freezing and chicken taco, chicken tacos on discription from your menus! Include “mayo and palle de galo” I got a taco with 2 tiny chicken strips and what looked like just leaves. Then we had to wait a further 45 minutes for our mains. We voiced our concerns to the bar staff and they explained we could have a “one free drink or pudding” for the long delay and explained they were really busy in the kitchen despite only having approximately 10 people in the pub.
