Seen the owner bulk buying for the cafe in Farmfoods! She was buying the cheapest barn eggs and bread rolls. Please be aware, you will not be eating local ingredients here!

Went to Lakeside Cafe today with my husband. We had afternoon tea and what a great experience it was. Sandwiches, coleslaw, salad, cakes, scones (with jam and clotted cream) and some little chocolates. It was all beautifully presented by staff who could not have been more kind, considerate or pleasant. All this while sat outside in the sunshine overlooking the lake. Thank you so much we will be back.

I’m really sorry but I can’t recommend this cafe. We only wanted two cups of tea and perhaps a cake. There were very few people there and plenty of staff. We were kept standing at the counter for no reason that I couldn’t see. The tea was fine. The lock on the toilet door was broken - wouldn’t have taken much to fix. We returned the cups after use and said ‘thank you’ - not one member of staff looked up or responded. This may be an unusual occurrence but it didn’t encourage us to return.

My wife and visited this lovely cafe in a great location. The setting is beautiful and very welcoming when entering. We ordered the "FULL English breakfast" (it sure lives upto its name). Although a bit of confusion/waiting for the breakfasts the food was well worth waiting for. A good atmosphere, friendly staff and a very good price. Well done to you all and we will be back again soon.

We went for a stroll around the park and decided to stop for a brew and a slice of cake. What a very good decision! Both were lovely with the staff being very friendly and helpful. The cafe also caters for those with food intolerances which suited my partner as she had a lovely cake as well rather than just having to sit there and watch me devour mine as she has to on occasions when eating places don't really cater for those with such issues.

This is one of our local cafés and one we use quite frequently. There's usually somewhere outside to sit as there are tables , walls overlooking the lake , benches and rocks .On a sunny day the setting is stunning. There is a small lake in front of the cafe, a play area close by , river walks and The Cafe . The staff are always chatty with us and the food is very good. Yesterday we had BLT's and caramel cake and coffee. Excellent bacon on fresh t -cake with fresh salad , superb. They also do corn beef hash which is another favourite food of mine . Always a large selection of very good homemade cakes and most times gluten free bread available. . Carrot cake very good. As usual with my reviews we must support the cafés if we want them to survive. They have all had to alter the way they function which hasn't been easy with sometimes months of little income. Lovely café 😁 Easy five stars

We were shocked with the selection of home made cakes and being a coffee snob was stuck on what to order. So I had a coffee and cake and it was outstanding. The service and surroundings and food was so good that we went back the following day to try a full English breakfast St which was outstanding! It’s a easy full marks for me keep up the great work and see you again soon ..#HIGHLY RECOMENDED

Called in for coffee n cake on our lockdown exercise walk, never been before they’re working very well with their takeaway service under the present conditions. We hadn’t planned on visiting the cafe but if we go anywhere we try to support small cafes wherever possible, more important at this present time, so if your down Ball Grove having a stroll call in and support them, it’s needed in these strange times we’re living in.

Came in on a Sunday afternoon and was instantly shocked to see no staff members wearing masks or even visors when it is now mandatory, especially as Lancashire is in tier 3. Having read many positive reviews I had no hesitation in taking the family. Having looked at the many cakes on display we asked for carrot cake to go with our coffees and was told we couldn't have it as it was still frozen?? I am no baker but the idea of homemade cakes is that they are not frozen surely. The cakes we did choose were on our opinion a little tasteless and slightly dry which would indicate they too were from frozen factory stock!!

Once inside we were tempted by a great selection of cakes so we decide to cut our losses and have coffee & cakes - first good move. We went for our walk and on the way back the prospect of a meal began to look very attractive Second good move - good food, excellent value and very friendly atmosphere. The food is fairly good but in my opinion over priced for the portion sizes and taste compared to some other local places. It is all served very nicely/looks great so if you want to go somewhere to get a bit dressed up and have a fancy meal/some cocktails then it might work for you. For me I still can't say it is worth the price you pay. The service is good with friendly staff but not excellent, It can take a while to get someone's attention. The venue is lovely and has a nice atmosphere. Just because it is not for me doesn't mean it won't be for you. Give it a try :) Its always a good thing to try and suppport local businesses.
