Dog and human friendly pub, decent (quiet) background music and no TV 😁. Typical beer prices and reasonably priced honest food. I can recommend the chicken gyros

Lovely owner and staff. We had a dog friendly room. Really good idea to have a wooden floor with then rugs. The room was clean and smelt nice and fresh. Ensuite was clean and had a lovely big shower. Tea, coffee, and hot chocolate were supplied in the room. The food was delicious. We had both breakfast and a Sunday roast. The location is suited as a base to be able to explore the area. The only downside was the amount of traffic throughout the night, including lorries. I would definitely stay again but ask for a room further away from the road. This is an absolutely lovely place run by a lovely lady.

Opened again fairly recently. Staff still getting to grips with place and were struggling to cope on a busy Sunday afternoon. Food looked good and sensibly priced but they were honest with us and told us there would be a long wait so had a drink and moved on. Real ale was in great condition.

Food review: The food at this place was sensational in 2017 / 2018 and again in 2022 / 2023. I believe the place has changed a few times in-between and since but I’m hoping the food has stayed consistent for my next visit as I’ve always enjoyed eating here!

We went as a family of 10 people on Sunday 30-6-24. Four of us had roast dinners , when the meals came out the vegetables came out seperate in a large like pasta bowl and that the said was for all four of us we asked for another bowl as know way that would do four people . We all ordered seperate portions of cauliflower cheese which is £4.99 extra each this once again came out in one bowl we asked it to be put in seperate bowls . The cauliflower tasted as though it was frozen and the cheese sauce was made from a packet it also wasn’t browned off . This meal cost nearly £300 with some drinks. I would honestly be not going there again I have had better meals else where . I would have given it no stars as that is how I feel . We did mention to the manger about the cauliflower cheese and her response was I will tell the chef

Visited on the 7th May with 8 other family members .Some were visiting from Canada and some from Hednesford. We were booked in at 7.pm . We didn't wait long for the food to be served and the the food was really good no complaints at all. What we were unhappy about was that Music started being played fairly loud in the room where we were sat . We had to ask for it to be turned off . At approximately 9.15 we were asked if we wanted anymore to drink as he was calling last orders . We had only just refilled our glasses so wasn't ready for another . We were told there was no one in the pub so they were closing although there were 10 of us. Then the lights started being turned off in the bar area. We won't be visiting again which is a shame because the food was really good. Need to employ older staff who are not wanting to go out with a friend who was waiting for him .

First time visit that won’t be the last. Only called in on first day here from Australia and enjoyed some proper Ale… tried some of the loaded fries off the menu and they are amazing, especially the lamb kofta … but to be honest they are all great. Definitely be trying the rest of the menu while staying in the area. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff… great pub.

We stopped off here on the way back to Blackpool following a trip to Earby. Contemporary decor on entry but still feels like a local’s pub. Interesting menu, not your usual pub grub but we were drawn to the steak and ale pie. It arrived and our jaws dropped at the size of the portions. Our quarter slice each was more than enough, packed with steak, the top of the melt in your mouth pastry was domed, the pie was so full. Crisp chips, individual jug of gravy provided, the pie was perfection. One of us had the lemon cheesecake and reported that this was no sickly packet mix. Good biscuity base, tart lemon filling of firm consistency, beautifully decorated plate - not what we were expecting. Great choice of real ale too. Conversations with the clientele confirmed that they were regulars and their meals were great too - everyone was eying up the others dishes! Definitely worth another trip!

We booked a four day stay in the Hare and Hounds Foulridge, after a 23hr flight we enjoyed an excellent evening meal and had a great nights sleep. The room over looked the car park at the front of the pub but this was not a problem the bed was comfortable and everything was clean tidy and functional. All the staff were polite and helpful, had a good cooked breakfast. The pub was fully booked all four days that we were there. We know the area and have family nearby so it was great for us. Lots to do in the area if your a cyclist it’s got everything from road to mountain biking. Some great short walks around the village or down the canal.

we called a couple of weeks ago for lunch. A good choice with a varied menu and a nice welcome. The food arrived pretty promptly while we had a drink ,the fish and chips and the gammon. both were excellent, hot fresh and tasty. The pub also does bed and breakfast at very reasonable rates and is well situated for the Yorkshire dales if you were looking to stop in the area. well worth a visit.

We were a party of 29 people including 4 children for our family christmas meal, an annual celebration. We pre-ordered using mainly the christmas menu but for some the normal menu. The staff and chef provided a brilliant service given the number of people eating all at once, no-one having to wait too long for their food. The food was all cooked well and with generous portions and we didn't have one complaint at all from any of the diners. I would definitely recommend them for both large parties or couples dining together, it's got a family friendly pub atmosphere. Thank you to all staff for a lovely family day.

With the girlfriend working nearby for a couple of days we booked this charming pub as it was convenient and also dog friendly. I spent most of the day here with Freddie our pug. All the staff were lovely, very welcoming and nothing too much trouble. The pub food was excellent quality breakfast lunch and Dinner and plentiful to say the least (HOMEMADE CHIPS) say no more. The rooms were lovely and clean and we would definitely recommend this pub in every way. I have 2 pubs and a wine bar myself and understand the hard work put in to make everything run smoothly, efficiently and to the highest standards. Well Done all at The Hare and Hounds. Hopefully returning soon. Many thanks again.

Arrived here after a decent walk and in need of both liquid and more substantial refreshment. The pub had a very welcoming, relaxed atmosphere with staff who were friendly, helpful and efficient. While sampling the excellent ales on offer and after some deliberation over a very interesting and tempting menu, we eventually decided on the homemade pie of the day. The pie was lamb, delicious. Excellent pastry, housing succulent pieces of lamb in a rich lamb gravy. Complemented by really good chips, mushy peas and more gravy. Substantial portions with substantial taste. Couldn't fault the pub, the food or the beer. Well done.

This place was such a good find, we’d been for a walk and passed by a number of cafes all closed on a Monday, this place saved us. Humble Pie had a lovely selection of hot food and cakes and we were able to take them away to eat on the way home. Really surprised it wasn’t busier when I went in as it’s a gem! Cheese and onion quiche was the star for me.
