On a sunny Saturday in June, we found .. peace and quiet, amiable owner, great value breakfasts (served till 1 pm: £6 full vegarian, £7 full English) and sat by the window with pretty views of the smaller lake. Afterwards took a short stroll to view the larger lake, then made our way through lanes to Cowling to see the amazing views from Wainmain's pinnacle -- we'll be back!

We visisted here for drinks and also breakfast during our stay at the hideaway cabin they run. Great bar, lovely decor, spotlessly clean. Friendly hosts and the nicest breakfast sandwiches! On a nice night grab a drink and sit out over the lakes, amazing views and a tranquil area. Cant wait to return.

If you are looking for local hand pulled beer, a cheeky Prosecco or a great cuppa this is the perfect place. Highly recommend the delicious gourmet venison burgers with Stilton! Also a great place for events which are fun and well attended by both local village residents and visitors.

Popped in for a spot of lunch with some friends and children. It was a cold, wet and miserable day but we got a very warm welcome. We ordered hot chocolates, milkshakes, coffees, toasties, sausage sandwiches and a burger with homemade cakes and biscuits for pudding. All of which were delicious. I hear they have since opened a bar and started serving food in the evening. we will definitely be back.

After visiting Raygill lakes take a detour to the lakeside cafe where there is a brilliant range of burgers and other things on offer ! When I say burgers , there are at least 5 different types to try including a wonderful venison burger I tried topped with cheese a spices all washed down with wonderful Italian lager ! The well stocked bar has something for everyone and is well looked after by the lovely Amanda , mine hostess , I repeat this is not to be missed , a real hidden gem ! ! !

This is an excellent place to visit with the little ones, even if your not into fishing there's still plenty to do and see. The cafe was very clean and was full of history of the quarry and the minerals that were quarried there. The food is excellent too. We came to do the nature trail which the kids loved especially the big cave lion!

What a pleasant surprise this was, a real gem of a find in the middle of nowhere! We were going to sit outside but it turned a bit nippy so reluctantly we went inside but Wow, it was lovely with a good seating area and a fab view of the lake from our table. Great homemade burgers (hubby said it was the best ever!) and the kids loved the homemade chocolate cake. The coffee was good too. It looks a little untidy outside but I urge you to venture in and meet the owners, very friendly and informative on the history of Raygill. Great old photos in the cafe. Will definitely be back to try the toasted sandwiches soon, the next table had them and they looked yummy. Seek this place out, you'll be as surprised as we were. :)

Having a ride out in the area with our Grandson we decided to call in for some lunch. We parked the car in a large car park and then walked up the road past the lake - very pleasant indeed. Please note that if you are unable to walk the short distance, you can drive up to the café and park your car just behind it. The café has just been decorated and has old photos of the quarry on the walls, it also looks out over the lake and the distant hills. The menu has a good choice of cold sandwiches, toasties and also hot sandwiches. Sometimes, especially on a weekend, the owner, Amanda has some of her own made burgers either pork or venison and they are very tasty! Also there is normally a couple of homemade cakes and some cookies, scones as well as ice creams, chocolate bars and crisps Afterwards we bought a bag of duck food and went and fed the ducks and geese.

3rd visit in recent weeks. A lovely, friendly little cafe with views over one of the lakes. Called today with some friends and our dog (well behaved dogs welcome). Menu is limited, mainly sandwiches - hot, cold, burgers etc., nice cakes and a good cuppa (no chips or fries) but what you get is good and freshly made. Started off as a cafe for the fishermen and it appears the 4 lakes are well stocked from the catches we saw. Nice walk around the old quary after lunch. Would recommend a visit for light snack.

What a lovely quirky cafe. The owners were super friendly and welcoming. We had hot chocolate and scones with jam and cream and both the drink and scones were delicious. Best hot chocolate drink we have tasted and in a nice large cup too. There was lots of cakes to choose from and they all looked delicious. We will definitely return for lunch as the menu was very appetising.

Any time this place is open, do take the chance to pop in for a drink, snack or meal....a very friendly place with a good choice (including vegetarian) on the menu; the family team are happy to speedily prepare and serve just what you order in a quirky, well presented small cafe. Excellent value, quality food!

This place is in a beautiful location. After a hard day cycling, we we had run out of water and food. Although the tea-room was closed we asked if our water bottles could be topped up. The lady who owns the place was busy but she could not have been more kind and helpful. She brought us delicious home-made chocolate cake and filter coffee and stayed for a chat. Absolutely amazing customer service and saved us that day! Thank you!
