Over hyped- could be better with better management. Food is well proportioned, not much on the menu sadly.

An excellent visit this morning meeting friends for a catch up breakfast before they whizz of to another Country! The staff were very friendly and the location was quite stunning in the morning sunshine. Thanks to all the staff there!

We were there last Saturday for lunch. Lovely way to escape London rapidly! 27 minutes on Elizabeth Line from Ealing Broadway. Make sure you get the right train (twice an hour) that stops at Taplow: download the PDF timetable from TFL. South exit from station over footbridge, 15 minute walk: use Google maps to follow footpath round north of lake. Had ham/egg/chips and draft Paulaner (a favourite). There is a menu page full of Belgian beer like Kwak (served in the correct glass) and Delirium Tremens if you're braver. M had Picpoul. Watched geese, ducks, red kites, cormorants from our outside but covered table which we hadn't booked. Brilliant!

Taplow lake is a little oasis. I swim there but always stay for breakfast afterwards. The staff are very helpful and friendly. The food is great, the view is beautiful, what is there not to like?

I swim occasionally at the lake and when I do I always stay for breakfast. The food is excellent and I love that this is a local family owned business. The whole family are involved across three generations and the place is an absolute credit to them. Friendly welcoming and always go above and beyond to make sure we have everything we need. Thoroughly recommend.

This is the greatest find in my time in Buckinghamshire, it's a totally fantastic experience, and the owners are so welcoming. if you are a swimmer it is a utopia, in fact I am loathe to share because it is such an incredible swimming experience and I have met so many wonderful friendly people. I swim at Taplow lake regularly and often have breakfast afterwards. It’s a fabulous location, beautiful views across the lake which is very safely managed. Breakfast is really lovely. I usually select the bacon bap with coffee. The ingredients are definitely quality and I’ve never experienced anything other than politeness and friendliness from the staff. Great place would highly recommend.

I've been coming to the cafe for nearly two years. Breakfast after a swim in the lake is a must. It is very well run, the staff are friendly and efficient and you overlook the lake. What's not to like. Top spot.

A very busy place. We were going for breakfast, full of open water swimmers and a few cyclists. But we were sat down with only a short wait. Service was fairly good as they were rushed off their feet. Food isn't cheap but good quality ingredients. Service 8 /10 Food 10 /10 Value for money 8/10 Cleanliness 10 / 10 Atmosphere 8 / 10 It's definitely worth a visit

On the two occasions I’ve been here, I can definitely say that this place has good food and good coffee. I enjoyed a good full English breakfast here on my first visit and the coffee has been good on both occasions. The staff are generally polite and friendly, though when asking to move inside to use a plug for my laptop, the reactions of staff did seem slightly odd, as if it was an inconvenience, and it also seemed like it was an inconvenience when asking to pay. I found those interactions slightly strange and not the most welcoming or accommodating. As I say, good food and good coffee and I would come again. Hopefully these were just isolated incidents.

Superb Breakfast right next to Taplow Lake. Great service and atmosphere to boot. Definitely be coming back hopefully when it's a little quieter though.

I recently visited the Lake House Cafe on a sunny Sunday morning, and I have mixed feelings about my experience. The location is absolutely stunning, perfect for a sunny day with beautiful lake views and a serene atmosphere. It's an ideal spot to relax and enjoy the natural surroundings. However, the breakfast was mediocre and nothing special. The food was average and didn't particularly stand out in terms of flavor or presentation. The waiting time for food and drinks was longer than usual, which I understand since it was a busy Sunday. However, what disappointed me was the service. Several waitresses attended to us, and two of them asked us multiple times what we had ordered. This lack of coordination felt unprofessional and added to the overall wait time. In summary, while the Lake House Cafe offers a fantastic setting and is perfect for a leisurely day by the lake, the breakfast and service left much to be desired. With some improvements in these areas, it could truly be a standout spot.

My neice discovered this hidden gem. Great choice of food, freshly prepared. Knowledgeable and friendly staff. Dogs welcome.

Went to celebrate a life and it was a great turn out and lovely people.

Attended for a memorial but was as friendly with attentive staff who treat you more as friends than customers. A beautiful setting.

Had a lovely lunch at the hill house cafe today with my husband. The food was amazing and the service was great. My only criticism is that the indoor tables were not available as.i prefer to sit inside as I don't like the heat. By the manager was very considerant and moved our table into the shade which I really appreciated. We will definitely be back. Hopefully the tables inside will be open next time.

Stopped for coffee, ended up with a tuna melt and 3 pints for a customer that turned up out of the blue. Will be going back with my wife and 2 dogs at the weekend. Also GF breakfast avaliable

Had a fantastic burger here the other day. Food is amazing and great quality. They do a great breakfast too.

Really lovely cafe, situated at the side of the lake. Carrot cake was gorgeous 😍 Enjoyed it with latte in a snug seating inside. Ample parking spaces and dog hut and plenty of outdoor seating.

Stopped off for lunch yesterday, sat outside and could warm up with a tasty oat milk hot choc, toasted panini's and the chicken casserole looked super tasty and smelt great.

I don’t usually leave reviews but this place was so awful it warrants it. Left for ages for someone to come and give us a table, service slow and orders mixed up, have to get your own cutlery and sauces if you want them as asking the staff gets you nowhere and the sandwiches were very dry. The only positives were the chips and the view. Won’t be visiting here again. It’s a shame because it has so much potential but it needs a good overhall and properly trained staff. Update Jan 2024. I wasn't notified of the response from the owner hence I did not get in touch a second time. I'm rather surprised to find that, following an "internal investigation" I've been accused of bringing my own alcohol and being asked to leave when in fact I attended for lunch with my husband, 2 year old child and was pregnant at the time. I notice that anyone who has left a bad review on google gets accused of writing reviews with malicious intentions, and in my case, a character assasination. Perhaps you should take on board the feedback in a constructive way rather than being rude and dismissive of anyone who is disappointed with the experience.

Great cafe with a lake view. The only downside i can say is the kid serving our bill, he did not showed us the full list of our bill. He straight away asked to tap to the machine showing the total bill. I didnt have time to argue coz i dont want to spoil our time there. Overall, great experience still.

A bit tricky to get there, they could improve the entry, great view, brilliat terrace, food was almost perfect, coffee is great I do recomand it!

Really nice location, facing on to Taplow lake, with friendly and helpful staff. Food was pretty good (though slightly expensive, £13 for a full English breakfast). This cafe was very busy when we visited, so we had to sit outside in the rain, but there were patio heaters provided. I would recommend this location if you want to visit a local café.

I recently dined at the Lake House Cafe in Taplow, and it was an exceptional experience. The service was top-notch, thanks Christian and the young fella for the great chats. The highlight for me was the serene view of the lake at the end of our meal, which added a sense of tranquility to the day date my partner and I had. As for the food, it was delicious, with a menu offering comfort foot for the misty weather ahead of us. I highly recommend the Lake House Cafe for a perfect blend of great service and a calming lakeside atmosphere.

Brambles are growing into the play area! Also they have one pot and an old little tractor to play with, with bark!? Service was shocking, we were ignored on the way in so went into the building to order. Found out we weren't suppose to to that.

Delicious lunch of ham egg & chips, so good I returned the next day for more. Perfect chips. Lovely setting, I came all way from NZ. Great for walkers or drivers.

Very nice location and has a well sized car park with a very nice veiw of the lake but the panini was a little bland.

Lovely place to eat by the lake. Thoroughly recommend the Buddha bowl and panino as well as the full English. Hope to be back soon.

A hidden gem ! We did an evening walk finishing off here for a refreshment. Lovely covered drinks area overlooking the lake. In the day I expect it is busy with sports. Apparently it is worth a visit for breakfast so if your in the area and want food and or a drink pop in. Parking available.

This is a hidden gem, staff very friendly. Just had coffee and cake, which were amazing, a lot of cake choices. A beautiful setting on the lake. Just a tip when driving it is a bumpy road ,under the railway arch and keep to the right don’t turn left into the cottages.

We went for a breakfast about 2 weeks ago. 2 kids, 2 adults AND 2 dogs! The brekkies were great and the cakes my husband and daughter got was massive and SO GOOD. Love their tea selection. Servers are super friendly and ofc the view is lovely. Weill be back in the evening for some of the beer, the list is EXTENSIVE!

What a view to kick back and relax to! Wonderful selection of teas and food items. I sipped on the white tea that was beautifully presented and very delicate. I had the pea soup - was a little disappointing as it wasn’t enhanced by other seasoning - felt very much like a bowl of blended peas! But nonetheless I would come back for the exceptional location and the delightful teas (and to try some other food!)

Such a lovely spot, a real hidden gem with great food and service, and lovely view of the lake.

Love this place! First went after a run in the snow, and they had a roaring fire, which was great for warming up. Soup of the day was excellent. Since then I've gone after swimming in the lake. Staff are really friendly, always a warm welcome, and they don't even seem to mind that I drip lake water in with me when I come.

Very well hidden away but a nice location, good food and excellent beer selection!

Staff was polite but not very experienced and very distracted. Food was great. Tables were dirty. Cups and glasses were dirty. Dogs are allowed to just walk around unsupervised. View is the biggest benefit. Playground needs a refurbishment. Overall not such a bad experience but won't be visiting again.

Nice food (3 vegan options) and lovely views of the lake. I had their Chickpea tiki mayo ciabatta and there was also a Mexican bean soup and Roasted veg panini. Dogs are also allowed inside and out.

Food is nice but took ages to arrive, the service is ok wish you could arrange the table better near the lake because there was a space to move the table but they just didn't despite asking.

Cafe in a nice setting. Free car park. Enough parking for the cafe and lake users. Good choice of beers. Breakfast is always good.

It's a place we visit whenever we are down from God's own Country. Yorkshire to the uninitiated. Service as usual good as the views. We are on our third visit on our latest trip ..food n drink n service n a view to enjoy as well .

One of best places to have a coffee or beer. The view of the lake is awesome. The staff is friendly. Options for food are also good although I didn't have anything at the time. Highly recommended for anyone in around Maidenhead
