We have a nice place on the edge of the window but it is very narrow. When we arrived the waitress seemed to be overwhelmed and therefore was very cold. But it's a very beautiful restaurant and the hot chocolates are original! I recommend :)

This place was really busy, so had to wait about 20 mins for a table . We were then given a table and menus, we ordered an orange juice, hot chocolate and irn bru. And we had a shakshuka with poached eggs, and beef brisket sandwich in sour dough bread. The sandwich was cold and the beef brisket really tough and chewy . It was an absolute jaw locker. But after waiting 20 mins for a table and the sandwich being nearly £15 I just couldn’t ask for something else, as it took 20 further minutes for the food to come. The shakshuka wasn’t any better. The other half said she had better and said it was as if the cooked it and someone forgot to serve it to us until someone realised 10 mins later. Would not recommend, and a waste of money. Better places to eat than here. Though it is clean you must have jaws of steel to eat here

Laila’s is a must if you’re in Edinburgh! My friend and I came in for a 1.5 day visit and found ourselves here twice. The first was for a glass of wine which was perfect and the second was for breakfast the next day which was phenomenal! It was so good that we forgot to take pictures of the food but believe me when I say they were beautifully plated and wonderfully delicious. And Aurelien, omg the best person we met in Edinburgh! He made us feel so welcomed and taken care of while we were here - GREAT SERVICE!

The decoration of the place is very cute and the cuisine is perfect for discovering the local specialties of Scotland. The welcome and service are warm, top notch! We ate very well and we recommend it!

Just been for brunch this morning - decor inside was lovely & cosy. Served by Aurelien who was a pleasure from start to finish. Very friendly & attentive who advised about the smoothie containing oats and said if it wasn’t to my taste he could change it. However it was delicious. Food was excellent - I had the pink avocado toast and the beetroot hummus was delicious. My boyfriend got a breakfast sandwich and tater tots. Would definitely recommend 😊 thank you!

We asked for shakshoka well done and we got med rare eggs. After explaining that to the waiter, she still insisted that this was well done!!. -French toast was a sad story. Very dry burned ends toast. -Fresh ornate juice was the best.

Very great and cozy restaurant with delicious options for breakfast. We tried the shakshouka, pink avocado toast, Turkish eggs and bennys eggs. All were very tasty! The staff was very friendly and welcoming. Highly recommended if you are in Edinburgh. Also don’t miss their delicious pancakes.

Excellent experience, all delicious, worth trying again

We arrived at the restaurant at 8:30 and waited half an hour. After waiting, the waitress said to us in a rude manner that there was no table for two people inside. We told her we had an infant. She kept saying no, no, in a rude manner. Frankly, I have never seen anything ruder than this, as if she wanted to annoy the customers.

We had a couple of coffees on the terrace. The waitresses were very rude, I hadn't finished the coffee and they already wanted to take the cup away. In a big hurry so we can drink the drinks and get paid, but the service is bad.

I mean, it's okay, I don't know, maybe I didn't know how to order, but its location in the center in front of Harry's in Edinburgh is an excellent option

I write in Arabic because most of the people who come there are Arabs, especially Gulf Arabs, and I am sure that anyone who comes will see the difference between the level of cleanliness in the Gulf and here because what I and my family saw is something beyond logic. I am talking about the level of cleanliness of the employees who reflect the cleanliness of the restaurant. It is not reasonable that the employee is not tidy as if he is standing. From the bed to the workplace in such a way that he does not even assume he sees himself like this in front of the mirror, hair full of clothes other than a runny nose and cleaning it by hand while serving the dishes. Other than ear cleaning, am I coming to eat or am I coming to a store that specializes in nausea and disgust!!!!! I will not talk about food because people have different tastes, but cleanliness and the cleanliness of the employees are important, and they do not understand much and distract each one. We divided the single bill between us, and every time one of us paid, they brought up a second bill!!! This is stupidity. I feel that they opened the store on the basis of luck and gained fame against them. For the first time in my life, I leave a restaurant feeling disgusted and disgusted.

Shakshuka was good-feta, a hint of fresh coriander and the aniseed note of fennel seeds, I think. And a wee bit chorizo on the side. Good coffee, friendly service.

We’ve been to laila this morning and the food and the drink was terrible they didn’t ask for any allergies or they couldn’t understand what it’s in the food they serve the staff are barely understand English so disappointed with it

Me and my wife travelled upto edinburgh for the day as really we're looking forward to going back to leilas but as we ordered drinks and they didn't not advise what was included in drinks on menu the smoothies was made with oats and milk and was not drinkable. We ordered French toast as having this previously was delightful however this time it was the most bland and u tasteful thing I've tried to eat it also came with yoghurt on top which was not advertised or mentioned to us. The service was not quick and not very simple as there seemed to be huge communication issues as when we got the bill we explained that the smoothie was not good and the meals were not satisfying they did not seem bothered about this so we did pay but would not recommend or go back HUGE DISAPOINTMENT!!

Walked in asked for table for 6, they said couldn't do table for 6, but had plenty of tables which could of been joined together, not good for tourists from London, don't recommend. Staff looked like they already done a 12 hour shift, but it was 9am

Cute pinkish fairytale like cafe sitting at a corner of this steep slope. 😻 Service staff were fantastic and smileys! Warm greetings for a gloomy cold morning. Salmon with eggs on toast was tasty. Nicely cooked with well balanced of savoriness and toasty-ness. Oat latte here was a new experience for me - coffee dominates instead of the oat milk. And was served in tall glass.

Lovely cafe, the interior is very elegant and cozy. The menu has a lot of variety and choices, specially the drinks section. The food tasted really good, although not the best shakshouka I had in the UK. The service team is fast and attentive.

I recently visited Laila Restaurant.The staff were friendly and attentive, However, I was disappointed with the dish I ordered, especially compared to what I saw on their Instagram page. I ordered Pink Avocado Toast. On Instagram, the dish looked well-presented, with a generous layer of beetroot hummus, followed by smashed avocado, feta cheese, and two poached eggs. However, what I received was quite different. The sourdough toast barely had any beetroot hummus, which was unevenly spread on one side, while the smashed avocado was lightly spread on the other side. To make it worse, there was only one poached egg, which looked odd on the long slice of sourdough what makes me ask for another extra poached egg to be added to the dish and to my bill! The dish felt incomplete and didn’t live up to the expectations set by their Instagram post. While I understand there can be slight variations in presentation, serving something so different from what is advertised felt misleading. I hope the restaurant takes note of this, as consistency between what’s shown on social media and what’s served to customers is important.

The food is normal, but cumin adds to the food. In general, the place is beautiful and the atmosphere is nice, but it is not repeated.

It is a staple breakfast destination in Edinburgh for several reasons: 1)- Location: It is located in the Old City, close to Victoria Street, and the view is fantastic 2)- Its food is halal 3)-The menu includes our most popular breakfast meals, such as shakshuka The place is very small and it is recommended that you make a reservation to avoid waiting and queuing The service is a bit slow, God willing, due to the crowds There are indoor and outdoor sessions, but they are very limited In general, the restaurant is nice Prices are medium to high

I was here on my last night in Scotland before heading back to the U.S. and it was the (pink) cherry on top of the end of the trip! I am obsessed with pink so I saw this restaurant and of course I had to stop in for dinner! The decor on the inside is just as gorgeous as the outside! Oh and the food and service were both great! I highly recommend the fried chicken bao bun and the brisket bao bun!

The staff would not let us get a table either via booking online or walk in as they did not want any extra work - as a walk in, I asked to book online and was told there is no tables online Either - checked on my phone and there was, I couldn’t tell it the the woman with pink hair is racist or just extremely rude. You will get a lot of disappointment customers if you allow your staff to behave this way. Do not confuse people with your responses.

This café is incredibly warm and cosy, with such a welcoming vibe 🥹 Everything is beyond amazing, from the food to the atmosphere to the staff! It's worth every penny. Plus, if you're Arab, they even have some options tailored for you.

The „vegan option“ of the avocado toast is just leaving out the feta and egg, and not adding anything at all, but still charging you the full price (over 14£). When I asked about it, the server went to talk to the manager, but they refused to reduce the price. The knives were so dull, I was barely able to cut the bread. The server went to grab me another knive, which was only slightly better. I gave up on using cutlery after a few bites.

This would have been 5*, but we removed one star as one member of our group requested removal of items to make her meal suitable for her to eat, and no consideration of this was reflected in the bill. The staff were lovely, and the food yummy. It should NOT have been that hard to cut a pancake with a knife, though 😕 🤣

We came here for breakfast. The food was delicious. The dried fruits used in the pancakes were delicious.

We asked for runny eggs and we received well done and we told them they got us one only runny egg for 4 orders wich is bad and the table only for 4 if you’re with big family members they will give another separate table never coming back again.

Small & creative menu is the ultimate. The food was the most exciting flavors and very much enjoyed. Best so far in Edinburgh 🇨🇦

We arrived at this restaurant and there's a sign outside stating to wait there to be seated. In that time staff walked past us but didn't even acknowledge us. I then went in to ask and was told they'd be with us. I understand places are busy but it doesn't take much to say we will be with you shortly and acknowledge. Once seated it took ages for someone to come take the order, staff seemed very nonchalant, almost robotic in their motions. The food arrived, a cheeseburger and buttermilk chicken. Nothing special. Overpriced. Also took a while to get the bill. Aesthetically very pleasing and Instagram worthy but the food and service disappointing.

The food is delicious and the prices are perfect. A huge waffle for £13.50 and it was beautiful. The atmosphere is stunning and the staff is lovely.

What I witnessed here was shocking. The girl serving, with brown hair, had a horrible attitude towards 2 brown men who were tourists. She looked irritated and annoyed the entire time and spoke to them with zero respect, like she didn’t want them there. It was uncomfortable for everyone near by to watch. If you can’t treat all customers with basic decency, maybe it’s time to reconsider your job. It’s hard to believe someone could be so openly rude. Re-read the job description and remember what you're getting paid for.

Don’t get fooled by the name sounds arabic. But foods are neither arabic nor turkish.. its a real tourist trap, lousy service, tasteless food. I ordered beef burger, i m not sure who made that 14 pound burger.. its tasteless, cheap beef and cheap cheese. Too much over priced and very small portion. Burger is so small that made for kids.. but charged 14 pound!! Don’t go.

Such a fabulous restaurant, food was amazing and the atmosphere was everything we were expecting and more. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for something special in the heart of old town. Staff was so very accommodating as well it was greatly appreciated. Will definitely be back!

Loved the place, loved the food, loved the service!! The inside of this café is pink. Omg...the waffles are ruby red, they put pink candyfloss on their pancakes and nutella and bananas on some. A must!!

Food come very late And it’s not tahr much nice

We went to Laila today for my wife’s birthday with our baby. The place is great for taking pictures and upload them to Instagram, but that’s pretty much it. The food is really overpriced for what it is. I was particularly surprised when my full Laila’s breakfast arrived, which looked worse than what you can get in even the cheapest places in Edinburgh… not even enough bread for such a small portion of mostly tasteless things. Also, we ordered a couple of drinks, strawberry mojito and pisco sour, both had a very alcoholic flavor… the mojito had so much ice that the drink was spilling since the moment it was left on the table. After we finished our food we ordered coffee, we thought that couldn’t really be bad… we were wrong, the flat white with soya milk was watery and you could only feel burnt coffee taste. Also, the waiter brought it with the little plate full of my coffee that was spilled all over and we had to help him to put the tray on the table. The worst part was when receiving the bill with a 12.5% service charge… we just paid and left. It’s a shame that the experience is so bad because the place looks amazing.

Came here with my family today and had the best, pinkest experience! The staff were fabulous and the vibes immaculate. I had the iconic Ruby Waffles with chicken - heavenly. The place is small, cosy but the decor is a must see. The eatery was continously jammed packed during our vist. This didn't stop the staff from being friendly, and tentative with all that visited. Even when you had insanely rude customers (not us! But a table next to ours) there was no need for it, but you guys held yourself with dignity and grace. Can't wait to come back when I'm next in Edinburgh. Much love 🩷

Portion sizes are ridiculous for the price. Customer service is subpar. But it’s a cute “instagrammable” cafe. If you’re looking for quality food go elsewhere.

Their food is delicious, especially breakfast. The staff is helpful. Their location is vital in half of the old city because of the location. The tables and chairs are outside in the form of a slope.

A great menu whether for breakfast lunch or brunch. Waffles with maple bacon and sausages was awesome with real maple syrup.

The food was fair. The service was excellent but very slow.

1. **Food Taste:** The food was average overall. 2. **Shakshuka:** It had too many spices, which affected its taste negatively. 3. **Sovreign Croissant Breakfast:** The dish was served with a waffle instead of a croissant. When you inquired, the staff explained that the croissant was made in a waffle machine, which seemed implausible and misleading. 4. **Service:** The manager did not apologize for the mistake and insisted you eat the dish as it was served. The croissant (or waffle) was difficult to cut and unusually hard, indicating it might not have been prepared correctly.

Very popular small restaurant and had a good chances to be much better by providing intensive training to junior waiters on how to deal with customers specially during rush hours and working under pressure. Smile is almost absent. Furthermore, if you’re concerning about cleanliness then you might avoid this restaurant as I have noticed dirty spoons and cups, waiters are holding items incorrectly.
