Fathima is super nice . I wanted the know how the drink taste like , and she tried her best to even get some sample to let me try ! That is definitely going beyond the miles !!

The food is outstanding and the coffees are delicious. We ate here multiple times during our stay in Edinburgh. The staff is very friendly too.

He wins his final resting place in Edinburgh The first thing is the style, the second thing is the food. I ordered French toast and the strawberries were ruined 😕 and the drinks were brought late after eating and the right cup of tea was dirty.

The staff was rude and the service was slow. I don't recommend it, there are plenty of good choices around

This place is very cute and the service was excellent and very quick. The food was great , however, be prepared for the menu to be limited and not normal. If you are open to trying new foods and not a typical breakfast, this is your place to go. I would also note that this place is a bit pricey for brunch.

It's very expensive for what it is. The atmosphere is nice but the staff didn't understand us, we asked for extra bread for the chekchouka, we waited 30 minutes to get 3 pieces of bread which were charged extra. It's just an Instagrammable brunch restaurant

A very lovely outing with my 14yr old daughter. Kiddo picked this place. It was just a few mins walk from the train. The choice of food and drinks was fab. The atmosphere was lovely for an Easter Sunday lunch out. All staff were fabulous including the amazing chap who reminded us what excellent customer service is. Thank you for a great lunch. Would definitely recommend the team here!!

This restaurant is gorgeous and well-decorated, but be warned: the food takes a substantial amount of time to be served. We expected a bit of a wait, but for what we ordered and how many servers there were, we were shocked and disappointed when our breakfast took almost an hour to be delivered to our table. Our male server was apologetic and helpful as much as he could be which we appreciated. A female server snatched the salt shakers from our table without asking if we were finished to hand to another customer, which we found quite rude. Food was good but mostly cold by the time it arrived at our table. For pictures, it is perfect. Everything else…maybe skip unless you have a lot of time to spare.

Amazing breakfast, huge portion, super friendly staff, would highly recommend!

We had such a wonderful experience at their main location the day before and wanted to have breakfast again the next day. We came at 10:15am the restaurant was empty, only one other table beside us. There were 2 guys working there, one who was new and didn’t know anything. We told them we had a flight to catch and wanted to make sure the food would come out on time. Took 45 minutes for half of the food to come out, the other half they said they didn’t put in and it was their mistake. My son was extremely hungry and didn’t get his food, they wasted an hour of our time. Pancakes that came out for my daughter were burnt, and she had no time to eat because we had to leave. The guy working there said he will discount our bill, and still charged us for the food that we didn’t get or eat. He should have charged us for the drinks but not the food. I will be disputing the charge with my credit card company due to terrible service and no food. They don’t have enough staff or kitchen cooks for this location to be opened. Very disappointed!

We had brunch there today and it was absolutely amazing! The food was incredible (the waffles with buttermilk chicken are to die for), the staff was extremely welcoming and kind as well, thanks Tai & Aurelien (and the rest of the team), we’ll definitely be back!

We went in with 50mins to spare and ordered a coffee and two breakfast buns. Coffee came in 5mins. Breakfast bun took about 30mins and my partner (vegetarian) had meat in her bun. 10mins later she got her food. Everything was overcooked. We were not the only table they had got the orders mixed up with, delaying everything else.

Shakshuka consists of tomatoes and boiled eggs, very ordinary and not worth trying

Ate here today ( 14th April ) for my Niece’s 16th. Mixed review, as the staff was very nice & polite but a few negative issues also. We sat at 12.30 and didn’t receive food until 1.20pm. We were advised they were busy and may be a little wait. But we didn’t expect to be sat 50 minutes until food arrived. My daughter got the banoffee pancakes, she didn't want the bananas or the toffee or chocolate sauce she just wanted a little maple syrup instead, although she removed all they toppings they still charged £2 for a drip off maple syrup. My burger ( pictured ) was so burned throughout and black around all edges, but didn’t send it back due to needing to get a train and it already being such a long wait! The bill for 3 drinks and a french toast, pancakes & bacon & a chicken burger was £63. A bit pricey for below average food.

The cafe has a really good atmosphere and Sophie especially was really hospitable and lovely!!

I recently visited Laila, located on the steep and winding Cockburn Street in Edinburgh’s Old Town. The place is pink, pretty, and super aesthetic. I had a server who was incredibly helpful, friendly, and welcoming. I had gotten the french toast and it was delicious. I rarely go for this but everything assembled so well together. Overall, a lovely spot to visit right on Edinburgh’s iconic street.

Amazing breakfast experience! The staff were very welcoming and went out of their way to accommodate our special requests. The food was absolutely delicious—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully served. The place itself is spotless and has a cozy, inviting atmosphere. Highly recommend making a reservation, as it tends to get fully booked. Definitely worth a visit!

The restaurant look very nice from outside plus the food was amazing. What really annoyed us one of the staff there she ignored us when we ask to change the table because of the sun, there where many around us. We were going to leave the restaurant after this ignored but the other staff she helps us with changing the table I wish I know her name.

Everything looked beautiful but the food was very expensive and very mediocre. Dry French toast. Overcooked, unseasoned eggs. They give you about a teaspoon of maple syrup and then charge if you want “extra”. Take a pic from the outside and eat somewhere else 🤷🏻‍♀️

I ordered shakshooka but it turned out to be a tomato soup with some eggs on ! So a tomato soup for 14 quids !! Service was pretty bad, very slow, I asked to replace poached eggs with scrambled and that was refused because the portion would be bigger ? I don't understand .. scoop less scrambled eggs! I think the chef needs to search Google for how a shakshooka looks like !! Service was very slow !! Hire more staff ! The whole place is overrated ..unless you order waffles perhaps ? Not visiting this place again.

After waiting more than 30 minutes very rude staff said we dont have place for 6 ppl Despite the fact half of the place is empty and i have identified table for 6 and offered that we can split into two tables! Very clear that they did not want to service us for what seems to be a racism reaction of some sort as from the second we walked in the looks were absolutely disgusting!! What a shameful act from such a place!! Ps. “Seems to be a racism reaction” as my wife, two daughters and sister in-law are wearing hijab!

Had a delicious lunch in Laila's absolutely loved all the pink. Such a cute cafe. Staff were lovely.

This place is absolutely incredible and gorgeous ! It was my first time here on my birthday, and it had such a special vibe. The food and coffee were amazing, and the service was great. I loved sitting outside in the sun and soaking up the rays. I definitely plan to come back again! Thanks Eve :))

The food was very tasty and the portions were very good. We were served by Taï, she was super friendly and helpful. She gave us very good advice. In general the atmosphere was very nice.

Tai was our waitress and she was lovely. The food was amazing and I highly recommend if you are looking for a brunch menu with great options.

We came in this afternoon. What a beautiful shop, the food and drinks were also as equally good. The Ruby rose was delicious and aesthetically beautiful. Halloumi fries were so tasty, and a MASSIVE shout out to Eve who made the whole experience 10/10 - she was so helpful at giving recommendations from the menu and her service skills were incredible. We will absolutely be back.

We ordered two smoothies at Laila‘s. We really enjoyed the atmosphere. Our waitress was Eve and she took so good care of us.

Worst customer service. I tried to book a table for brunch. To do this you must enquire and wait for a response. They responded to me the next day almost 2 hours after the time slot I wanted saying they have a table, I told them it was too late as I had to stick to a schedule for my trip. I tried to book again the next day and this time they asked for a holding fee of £50 for 5 people so I assumed they would book instantly and confirm. Again they did not respond to me until the next day. We ended up going to another brunch spot, I didn’t think I would be charged because they didn’t get back to me. But after checking my emails they had sent a confirmation for the table. I had booked the table for 13:30 and they sent me the confirmation for the 13:30 table at 14:30 and had said that £50 payment was received. Again this was an hour later than the time slot I wanted as we had to stick to a schedule for the day. At this point I had already eaten at another brunch place and was shocked that they confirmed my table so late and still took my £50 deposit. I contacted them via email explaining the situation and the response was extremely unprofessional. They responded with “so why did you pay the deposit then?” Ridiculous question because in order to secure the table you must pay a deposit. I explained this and asked for a refund but they have ignored me since. I have emailed multiple times and all my emails have been ignored. The lady’s name who emailed me is called Lisa. She was extremely rude, unprofessional and didn’t care to sort out my issue. To save your money and time, do not visit. It is not worth it. Edinburgh has many other great brunch spots to visit. Worst experience I have ever had considering I gave this place another chance. The screenshot of the email below clearly states that they sent me the confirmation email for the 13:30 table at 14:27 and confirmed they had taken £50

My partner and I popped in for breakfast on Saturday. We ordered the Banoffee Pancakes, Americano, Haggis + Maple Bacon Roll and a Ruby Rose. All the food was lovely and nicely presented. The roll although flavoursome was smaller than expected but the toasted bun was a nice addition. Both our waitresses Eve + Fathima were very pleasant.

Massively overpriced - purely for the Instagram crowd. Go to Scran instead!!! The pancake ‘stack’ was two medium sized, very average pancakes. Tiny amount of banana - and the cream was the squirty kind out of a can that immediately disappeared. Absolute rip-off. There are so many better cafes in Edinburgh than this. I’ll not return.

Really loved this place. Gorgeous decor, and the vibe in here was immaculate! We were taken care of by Sophie and she was so lovely to us and very attentive. We only stopped for drinks but they were some of the most delicious coffees and teas I've ever had. Highly recommend the apple tea if you like herbal teas! Thanks so much for the wonderful experience!

One of the cutest and prettiest cafes I have ever been. The service and the ambiance were very good and food delicious too. Slightly pricey but worth the experience. It's small and visited so expect it to be crowded. So many options to choose from. I recommend avocado toast.

A good place for brunch at the old town. The atmosphere was eye-catching and warm. Ordered 2 protein bowls. Smoked salmon was great. Wished the greenery was more diverse and sour was present at the bowl, it was a little bit of sweet for me. The bowl wasn't fulfilling but enjoyed the taste.

The place is decorated nice , and the service is ok . The food is below average had to wait 35mins for Turkish eggs & a big breakfast. The breakfast is definitely not big they are really stingy on servings. They didn't serve my bacon with my food I had to go and ask by the time the bacon arrived we where finished our food . I would not recommend this place to have breakfast.

Aure was absolutely brilliant ! I was WELL taken care of during a VERY busy time during the red flag storm Eowyn when most other establishments were closed. Laila Cafe on Cockburn Street in Edinburgh had an enticing mix of traditional and other offerings- both breakfast and lunch. Many veggie and meat selections - DIFFICULT to decide (; Chose the Veggie Brekky and slowly made my way through each delicious and perfectly prepared item. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Quaint, nicely designed cafe with halal options. Does sell non halal items so be sure to request halal options. Slightly pricey but that's a given, considering its in the town centre. Friendly staff accommodating for a large group. In terms of food, we tried a range of items: the full veggie breakfast, shakshouka, French toast, brisket sandwich, chicken burger, teas and drinks. Everything was very nice, chicken was succulent, meat was tender. Only thing I'd have criticism of is the the shakshouka, it was very tangy. It could be creamier and the sauce could be thicker

I must first say that the service was great here it was definitely obvious that the manager was trying his best to coax people at the door reading the menu to come in but that's not a problem. After that all the staff were lovely explaining the menu and asking us how we were. Sometimes it seemed a bit much though we had about 3 different workers asking us how the food was. We didn't order anything special just cheese burgers with halloumi fries but the wait was very long. Once the food came out it all looked great but the burger was so dry that it was really hard to swallow most bites we just had to use ketchup to get some kind of moisture in there. However the sweet halloumi fries with the honey were actually delicious and the fries were very crispy and seasoned well. The restaurant is really beautiful though so I'd still recommend a visit just stay away from the burgers.

Went to Laila for brunch and ordered French toast with Creme Brulee and was told that it is really really good but it was completely burnt from the top and the staff did not agree with us and did not refund for the toast, just gave £1.50 off. Very disappointed and wont be recommending

Owner was overly grumpy and spoke to customers rudely as if he was doing us a favour by allowing us to have a seat. Foods very basic and not even authentic. Go to a real Mediterranean place or a haute dolce for a proper sweet brunch. Not this car crash.

We have a nice place on the edge of the window but it is very narrow. When we arrived the waitress seemed to be overwhelmed and therefore was very cold. But it's a very beautiful restaurant and the hot chocolates are original! I recommend :)
