Good drinks but terribly chaotic and slow service. Second time here this year and the service is disorganised. Too many people with little co-ordination.

Mamt thanks to Rene, who served us a perfect White Lady and Old Fashioned with smoke. Wonderful service from him. Front of house staff were disinterested and turning away business (34 people turned away in the hour we were there)

Possibly the worst burger in Edinburgh. For £17! Def frozen. Recommended this place to my friends. Wished I had not! Average service.

Visited for a pre-meal drink. Placed an order for two Spanish red wines. Ten minutes passed, no drinks. A poor waitress is dispatched to tell us that these wines are not available. Place an order for another two red wines, this time Italian. Ten minutes pass, same result. We leave as we were going to be late for our dinner reservation. Not exactly a stunning experience.

Fantastic service and food. A special venue for a lunchtime treat. Portions are not large but the quality is wonderful. Add a side dish for a larger meal and you can finally have the full experience by going for a starter and sweet without overdoing it.

Wonderful surroundings but let down by food. Had dinner here with friends which was a bit of a mixed bag - the haggis scotch egg was very nice but the main courses were disappointing, particularly the sirloin with ancon dessert choice. Wine was excellent with good selection of red wines. The restaurant has a great look and the experience could be so much better if they can improve the quality of main courses. An ‘ok’ experience.

Visited whilst staying nearby very relaxing atmosphere and good selection of drinks and food available. Staff went above and beyond to help celebrate my birthday ( went to shop to get cake just before midnight) when they found out. Will be back !

Visited eralier this month , very good customer service but for the £39 for the steak plus sauce aside I would have expected something better. I asked for a medium to well and received a burnt steak !

We ate here on our final night of our holiday and it was a lovely way to close it off. We had incredible cocktails, food and service. Our waiter Giovanni was so friendly and attentive with impeccable service.

What a fabulous evening this was! We were lucky enough to get a late booking at this restaurant. Got in a bit early so had time for a cocktail before dining. The bar area was immaculate. Comfy seating looking over to a very well stocked bar. Staff all dressed super smartly and really efficient. So to the dining room. Good choice on the menu, but could have done with maybe one or two more veggie options (yes I realise it's all about the salmon and beef!). Our meals were works of art to look at, and the taste was sublime. Both of us ate until we could barely move, and even then, my main course was only half eaten. Our waiter offered to box up the leftovers, then comped that meal anyway. Absolutely amazing service, over and above what we could have expected. Highlight of our trip, no doubt.

The food did not live up to the elaborate descriptions on the menu and was distinctly average. The starter (haggis and oatmeal scotch egg) was nice enough (not amazing) but the main meal (pork belly) was really disappointing; it looked pretty but the veg was stone cold, the portion of meat was tiny and seemed more like pulled pork shoulder than pork belly, and the sauce scraped across the bottom of the plate was almost non-existent. Overall not worth the money, very much a case of style over substance.

We were seated at the very end of the venue, a nice elevated area within an already lovely space. Although very busy at the time, the large space meant it wasn't too loud and for once I was able to hear my wife over dinner without raising our voices, something that seems more and more difficult nowadays in overpacked venues. We had the soup of the day (asparagus cream), the lamb rump, the pork belly, and the sticky toffee pudding. Everything was beautifully presented and delicious. But above all we enjoyed the exceptional service provided by Olivier and a young lady (sorry we missed your name). Their legitimately caring but unobtrusive service, made a great evening extra special, thank you.

Mrs and I popped in for a drink during the fringe festival period. The place is beautiful with a nice atmosphere. Only thing we were both very disappointed in was the front man was very rude. Seemed very judgemental of customers. Not just with us as we overheard him speak to other potential customers. Would have gave the place a 5 out of 5 but it has almost ruined our experience and almost changed our minds to go drink somewhere else. The place wasn't so busy with people where he could have taken the time to greet his customers properly.

The restaurant offers a great space and it is an interesting experience being there The menu was hovering around the "Comfy & Familiar" range. A good choice for vegetarians 2 of our party needed to go to a Fringe event and had asked to be served first, service was bit slow and they had to laeve without doing the meal justice The rest of us had time to to enjoy a drink whilst we waited The food when served did not reach the potential promised by the menu and the surroundings, at best it was avearge A shame as there is great potential to make this a very good restaurant

Lovely atmosphere although loud at times. The menu was lovely but the delivery lacking. Martini was like fruit punch…not sure the vodka was in it. Caesar Salad was soggy with dressing. Starters were wonderful. And service was so so. Had high hopes but definitely disappointed.

Crap customer service - looked at the restaurant 1 hour before supposed to visit to discover they were no longer serving food. Apparently they had “reached out” to guests but hadn’t bothered to contact us even though we’d been booked in for a month. What terrible service - bank holiday weekend and now nowhere to go!

Went here midweek for a business dinner. Settled for the fish and chips which were excellent. Nice surroundings, good service and well worth another visit.

Included with our suite was breakfast in Printing Press. Good selection of cereals, juices and pastries. Freshly cooked breakfast with good quality produce too. Staff served cafe latte promptly at no additional charge. Good selection of newspapers to read at breakfast.

I've been here a good few times before and it's normally a nice place to start an evening with a decent cocktail, more recently however it's just been disappointing.We arrived on a Saturday evening early in January and the place was very quiet. We sat down and it took the waitress a good 10 minutes to come over and take our order (a beer and a cocktail). It then took a further 15 minutes for the drinks to arrive. They were good when they did arrive but this could have been partially down to my desperation and thirst! We wanted to order another but there was no server in sight, so I went to the bar. Honestly stood there for 10 minutes with 3 people on the bar and about 3 customers waiting. It was RIDICULOUSLY slow, and the staff had really no urgency about them at all.This is the second time I've been in and been disappointed with the service, and for £13 a cocktail I think I'll now be taking my custom elsewhere. We ended up leaving and going to Cadiz down the road and it was quick, friendly and the cocktails were great. Would recommend others doing the same.

You should definitely taste the food in the intercontinental hotel. Book a table and enjoy the moments there. Go for it.

We popped by here for dinner on a busy evening where everything else seemed closed (during the holidays). We are glad we did, as the food was delicious and the staff very friendly and helpful. Our dishes were great and the atmosphere is nice. We'll be back. (PS: And it's right next to BURR!)

My Husband and I visited on Christmas Day for a couple of cocktails, the place was very inviting and the staff were lovely. Great range of drinks available and the service was very good. Will definitely return again when we are next in Edinburgh.

Had the hot brunch buffet. The salmon melted in your mouth. The cod exceptional. The smoothie just the right mixture of berries to bananas. The baked goods . . Breads, muffins and scones were terrific. Haggis was the best. At 24 pds the brunch was a splurge but well worth it. Go hungry and eat well. Best meal of the trip!

Met by grumpy staff who didn’t want to be working on Christmas Eve. But the rest of the staff were very pleasant. The food is so-so, sadly ☹️ kitchen service is slow - long waits between courses. Perhaps it was Christmas Eve. The signature no.25 gin is nothing to write home about too.

We arrived for a 1830 reservation it appeared not to be necassery as the place was just about empty. the menu we were presented with was at the very best sparse. we oppted for three Burger meals and one fish dish. The Burgers came in a brioch bun, piece of lettuce on the bottom then a slice of tomato with the Burger on top with tomato sauce already added, this was accompanied by a tub of fries, for the price we paid we could of ate at Burger King for a week. On deciding to share desserts we chose one christmas pudding with vanilla ice cream and one apple tarte dish with vanilla ice cream, both came withCaramel seasalt ice cream. On questioning this we were told they had ran out of Vanilla. T he only saving grace for the place was the friendly & helpful young lady that attended to us. We will not be back.

We booked a table at the beginning of December for 6 for birthday drinks at 1600 Mon 16th December. On arrival at 1555. no table was redy- and people were asked to move from another table. We were given menus after 10 mins, table was not cleaned and no effort made for a celebration. The bar was NOT busy. The drink orde was taken after 20 minutes waiting. The drinks arrived after 50 minutes- no apology or service, no snacks or effort made. We had to leave at 5pm. The drinks were OK- the 'cocktail with dry ice' was flat and blue and tasted of paint stripper. Our friends first visit to edinburgh: they asked 'were all bars in Edinburgh like this' Very disappointing and wouldn't recommend. Have asked twice for an apology or compensation- no reply. An extra mark is given for a decent espresso martini., the cost of 6 drinks at £43.

Four of us had dinner at the Printing Press. The restaurant was very busy however drinks and food arrived without any delay or rush, the food itself was excellent - a nice combination of flavours and great presentation, and the service was friendly and attentive. What's not to like. Thoroughly recommended.

Visited Friday night and loved it. Fabulous cocktails, a nice atmosphere and attentive staff. Went back on Sat too. Bar staff were lovely, particularly one gentleman who made the best Pornstar Martini I’ve ever had. Apologies from us for starting a cocktail craze. Will definitely be back for more in a few weeks!

Myself and my boyfriend went for dinner here as a spur of the moment occasion as we had been Christmas shopping. Our waitress was called Angelika and she just provided the most outstanding service. So professional, her knowledge on the menu was brilliant. She never let our drinks glasses get empty. If you get her as your waitress, rest assured you will be looked after. Great job and fantastic food and service. A credit to the restaurant and an impeccable member of staff.

I visited The Printing Press Bar and Kitchen, at the InterContinental Hotel, for a drink before heading out for a meal elsewhere. Whilst the bar was busy, there was plenty of staff and my drink order was quickly taken and delivered. No complaints and I would gladly visit here again.

When Printing Press first opened we went frequently but stopped after a menu change and a single bad experience. Tonight we decided to give it a second chance - mistake.

We’d booked for lunch and arrived s little early. We were surprised the staff didn’t want our booking info; in fact the first 2 members of staff just ran off up steps never to be seen again. One guy tried to sort us a table. A scruffy corner in the bar. He wiped the table like we were in a greasy spoon and gave us crumpled menus. He disappeared to find the wine we wanted. They were out of stock. Nice of him to offer an alternative that wasn’t to our taste. Second choice was out too. He struggled for clean glasses. It didn’t feel good. We decided to leave as this didn’t bode well for a pretty pricey lunch. Very disappointing. Seems they had a private party in the nice area, so bookings like ours were ignored. I won’t try food here again.

Great service and extremely busy. Could do with putting more tables and chairs in as sitting there we saw a lot of people in and out as nowhere to sit.

Went in on Sunday for a quick drink, there were seven of us in the party and we managed to get a seat.

Our waiter Lorant is superb. He went above and beyond to provide us with a home comfort meal that was not on the menu. We were tired conferences organisers and now we feel happy and content that Lorant has furfilled our needs. He was so friendly and warming, he even remembered what drinks we ordered and kept topping us up.

Called in here yesterday (Monday) for lunch there was 4 adults and 3 kids, got a table at the bar area. But no service, we had to go to the bar for drinks and then we asked for menus twice before we got them. Then I asked at the bar for a kids menu to be told they didn't do a kids menu. I then went and asked someone else and they gave us a kids menu that you could colour in but no crayons or similar to colour it in. We eventually ordered and then waited a good 40 minutes for our lunch, well 83% of it, my nieces kids pasta didn't come till we were almost finished our meals - after chasing it at the bar. When it did come the pasta was very under cooked! We did complain about the pasta and it was taken off the bill, but all and all we didn't have a great experience nor made to feel welcome.

We called in on a Friday night and was surprised how quiet it was but not a problem as we could get drinks without any delay. It is a nice bar , comfortable seating and staff are nice so no negatives.

Met relatives in Edinburgh and booked a table in this lovely setting. We were in no hurry and it was fortunate for the service was slow, however the venue was extremely busy. It appeared that they had run out of a number of beers on offer which I thought was unforgivable at 4pm on a Saturday. However getting over that our Polish girl server was lovely as was the food. We had a comfortable 3 hour lunch which was only spoiled by the slow service. We had been offered the dinner menu on booking but had to settle for the bar menu which saved me some money!

...that I have to score this low. Great location for a central edinburgh lunch. But the service was dire. Took an age to be seated whilst restaurant not full, even longer for anyone to take an order for drink or food and longer still for the dishes to arrive. There comes a point where the delay “just isn’t funny anymore” and service here is beyond that. Chicken in a Caesar salad undercooked. We didn’t complain else we would be there now. We skipped coffee for the same reason and unusually for me, didn’t tip either.

We were staying in the hotel and thought the restaurant looked most inviting. It was very quiet, only one other table occupied.

We went for a few drinks and a bite to eat at lunchtime on a Saturday. The initial experience was positive. We were welcomed by a friendly waiter who promptly showed us to the table. We ordered a ginger beer and spicy Bloody Mary. So far so good. Nearly as soon as the waiter left the table things went downhill. A waitress now seemed to be looking after our table and came over and just started flicking through the menu on our table. It turned out that she did not know what a ginger beer was?! I'm not sure why she had to come and flick through our menu and not ask a colleague. It was bizarrely intrusive. When the drinks did arrive the Bloody Mary had no spice whatsoever. Not a big problem but annoying nonetheless.

Un bar escoces con una carta estupenda de destilados, tanto ginebras como whiskies. Muy acogedor y con camareros atwntos y que aconsejan muy bien. Altamente recomendable para tomar una copa calmada en ambiente tranquilo.

Lovely popular restaurant with really excellent service. I recommend you book as it gets very busy. The service is truly excellent. When we visited for a second time two days later, the waitress even remembered my wife's allergy issues from the previous visit.

The service is excellent Fish and chips are pretty good I ordered Pheasant and it was raw so I couldn’t eat it. Although the flavors of the cooked area I could tell were good. We had some amazing port. The ambience is nice.

Really good food can recommend it the rabbit terrain and pork belly was exceptional. Wife had the scallops, the best she has had. Service good have been better but not really a big issue

Went here for dinner tonight. I was with 7 other people. We all ordered off the menu and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their food. The service was good, but kind of sketchy. Our waiter disappeared periodically only to reappear later. Our food however, took longer to appear than our waiter. He was nice, and professional. But he just needed to be in attendance more often.

Visited Edinburgh in August, 2019. Wonderful city. A couple of places that we had decided on for dinner were booked so we saw the sign for The Printing Press and went in. Great atmosphere and HUGE bar. We sat at the bar and were looked after by a very nice Canadian gentleman by the name of Cory. He was new to Edinburgh, new to the Printing Press but he was very attentive, very funny, a great conversationalist and even better, he was an exceptional bar tender and mixologist. We had a such a great time hanging out with Cory that we came back again a couple of nights later. Thanks very much for such great service Cory! All the best to you and The Printing Press!!

There were many choices if you like a Scottish breakfast, however being an American, I would have enjoyed some pancakes or waffles. Plenty of cold choices too including yogurt, granola, fruit, cheeses and cold meats. The croissants were a highlight, but the pastries were hard most mornings.

We stayed at the hotel (The George) and had our last drink for the night here. On Friday night, we wanted to have a gin from the menu with a Tonic water from the menu. They had the tonic water but not the gin we wanted, so we switched. Today (Saturday night!!) they had the gin we wanted (so new delivery) but no longer the tonic water they served yesterday. Strange for a bar on George Street in a quite luxurious hotel!

We went for my parents 50th wedding anniversary. They moved us tables as they had us sitting at the wrong one. We ended up right by the door. They forgot to offer bread rolls. The clams with the lemon sole were like rubber. My Dad's sirloin steak was lukewarm. They got the drink order wrong and then overcharged the bill. All in all it was a really disappointing experience. We won't be back.

The Printing Press is a cool bar and restaurant. We were a bit confused when we walked in. Turns out the main restaurant is in the back and the bar off the street is just that, a bar. However, they so a full service dinner if you ask! We had fabulous drinks though we would have loved a bartender's recommendation. My husband had the negroni and it was excellent. The house gin is great! For dinner we had the fried goat cheese which I highly recommend and the duck is cooked to perfection. The dessert options are limited but again, you can't go wrong. Overall a great option if you are staying in the area, but if you want the full dining experience, I'd recommend walking to the back to the full restaurant!

The roast chicken just melted in your mouth and the scallops beautifully served and very tasty. Creme Brûlée the best I have had. The waiter Minty totally professional and very pleasant with it.

Is the bar area serviced or a standard buy at the bar and take to your table approach - it's not clear. Impression seems to be both... Wonderful interior with great location and upmarket feel in the bar areas, however the service is not very efficient in these areas. The restaurant looks super and worth a try.

My fiancé and I wanted to try here a few times but never got round to it. We eventually came back and couldn’t wait to go in and try some food before we jumped on the train home.

Staying in the hotel so booked an a early meal before a show at the fringe.

The bar was not that packed but the waiting time at the bar was about ten minutes. They started of by putting lime in the Hendricks GT and on top of that, we had to wipe of our table ourselves whilst three of the bartenders just stood and looked at us, probably grateful that we did the work for them. All in all the worst bar experience ever and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone!

Had a booking for 7.15 (arrived 7.05) drinks all ok, starters especially the smoked haggis delicious however 2 scallops for £12 is mean.

When the table next to you walks out after waiting to long for cocktails we should of avoided this place, however we had travelled all day and finding a table for four was challenging in it's own right!

Whilst the food here was good and the prices reasonable the service was disorganised and very slow. The staff were very friendly but you had to try hard to get their attention. It took 15 minutes for our orders to be taken. Starter didn't arrive for over 20 minutes and there was a similar delay on the main courses. Assume they must have staffing problems in the kitchen. It's a shame as this would otherwise be a very nice place to eat.

Nice enough looking place. My friend and I booked the day before for Sunday, May 5. We duly turned up and were seated. From here it rushed down hill. Firstly, there were only two other tables occupied. We sat down and after 10 minutes of not being approached, we started to stare pointedly at the waiter. He came over and said "there was a possible gas leak on the premises and they did not know when they would be able to serve food, but he should have information soon". Off he went. "Excuse me" I called after him, can we see a drinks menu please while we are waiting? Off he goes and comes back in five minutes with a wine list only. Sorry, I said, we are not interested in wine we were thinking of gin or whisky. Off he goes, comes back 10 minutes later with a drinks menu. I think the Printer had run of ink as it was that faint I could not read it. No update on the gas leak. After (bearing in mind there was only two other tables in for dinner) waiting a further 10 minutes, no drinks, no "here; nibble on some bread whilst you wait", we left. Maybe the food here is okay if you get it. Bad service and management. Instead, we found a great little French Restaurant around the corner called Cote Brasserie. Seriously management, under these circumstances you should be directing your staff to give a complimentary drink and nibbles, not just ignore customers. If we had at least got to order a drink even at our expense, we may have waited longer. Also, when people ask for a drinks menu, it may be prudent to give them both the wine list, the usual drink list, and a cocktail list if you have one. We laughing about it later, but at the time, we were astounded by the incompetence. We probably will not be returning to Scotland again (Fabulous place, well worth a visit), but if we did, not to this Restaurant.

Nice place. First place we went for a drink in Edinburgh. Can’t really say much but the vibe is good

Visited the printing press on Sunday afternoon, and unfortunately the only thing which let the bar down was a particular member of staff. The two female bar tenders were exceptional, very friendly, chatty and accommodating. We were in a large group where a round of drinks was coming to approximately £60-£80 so a considerable sum of money was being spent in the bar.

We stayed at the Principal Edinburgh for a few nights and went for desserts and drinks at the Printing Press. Great atmosphere, excellent service! We had The Laird of Glenroy, Lady of the Lake and Prince Charming; bar tenders do hell of a job making drinks, fabulous offerings and great preparation. Tried Savarin cake on waiter's recommendation and didn't regret at all.

We called in on our way home to break the train journey and the staff were amazing. We had 2 cocktails and a delicious beer. cocktails were a work of art in themselves. Will definitely visit again!

Got in late last night and the waitstaff could not have been more helpful, supportive, friendly without going over the top. Food was delicious and worth a stop. Nice range of items on the menu.

We were only in for a couple of drink but it was very pleasant and peaceful. Very good wine list and very good staff. Next time we're in Edinburgh I think we'll eat there.

We've now been here for the last 3 years for our office christmas meal. Every year it's excellent and the staff really take care of the details.

We had an excellent dinner & the service was prompt & friendly. We had fresh shellfish appetizers & delicious venison& cod for the main course.

I visited this restaurant with a group from my university, and the food and the drinks were all incredible! Tried haggis for the first time, had some delicious gnocchi and a tart for dessert. Cannot reccommend this restaurant enough!

We had a very enjoyable meal in this beautiful building. Our waiter gave professional service (as well as keeping us appraised of slight delay due to large party having arrived before us, he was highly responsive to our raising a slight issue over a fish dish). Strongly recommended for a sophisticated ambience and well cooked food.

Set lunch. You can have a main course and a small glass of wine for £12 each. (£24 for two.)

Came here for dinner with my boyfriend earlier tonight. We loved everything we had, all superbly cooked delicious food. The service really made it an amazing evening though. We were served by a (fellow Eastern European I think) waiter who was there the right amount and friendly and helpful and really made our evening. We will come back for sure the next time we're in Edinburgh.

On y retournera.

I had read about this restaurant on Trip Advisor before my trip to Scotland and it happens to be on the same street as my hotel, the Tigerlily. The reviews were correct and the meal was great. I had the fish and chips and my daughter had their beef daube and both were delicious. We finished it off with crème brulee, which was awesome. It was very quiet and not many people there, but the food was delicious. I highly recommend it. Service was great as well.

This is a fine dining restaurant and I expected a bit more consistency to the food. We had a burrata appetizer which was mediocre at best along with some of the best haggis I have ever had. The venison was excellent and perfectly cooked while the gnocchi, which was recommended but made with ricotta rather than potato, completely missed the mark and largely remained on the plate. So I would highly recommend the Scottish dishes but give a miss to their attempts at more international cuisine.

Excellent dinner and great service. Traditional Scottish faire with some twists. Long wait for food but worth it when it arrived. Tables at the front windows have a nice street view

Our meal here did not disappoint. Only a few dishes but this made the choice easier. Wine by the bottle was quite expensive. Puddings were lovely!!

We enjoyed our visit to the Printing Press, had some good drinks and food. The steaks were decent, but nothing outstanding. Nice and friendly staff.

Very disappointing meal, ordered a rib eye steak and was very chewy and came cold , service was very poor and slow asked for olive oil with bread and was told they don’t have olive oil so they brought out reap seeds with vinager would not recommend this restaurant .

Staying at The George/Principal (am told it’s soon to be and Intercontinental). Convenient walk down the hall. Endless bars - 3 of them all well stocked. Shown to a nice quiet table in a Sunday evening shortly after opening at 5:00. They serve a special Sunday lunch which we missed.

We bought vouchers for this fantastic experience as a Christmas gift for our friends and decided we wanted to join them !

First time we had been, recommended by a Edinburgh based friend. Nice relaxed atmosphere, knowledgeable & friendly bar staff and excellent cocktails. Will be back to try the food.

We were given a great table and looked after to the highest of standards. The menu isn’t extensive or special. We had the burger which was fine. Not bad but not great either..... just fine. Would have expected something a little more special in presentation, garnish and more than just the easy obvious frozen chips.

I had originally bought a cocktail masterclass for myself and my partner (part of her Christmas) - we had booked over the phone and the staff couldn't have been more accommodating, I had called and changed the reservation a few times.

Had lunch here last weekend with a group of friends. We had pre- chosen a 2 course lunch. The service was excellent - staff were very friendly and professional. Food was hot and most enjoyable. Will definitely return.

A very smart bar, smart and friendly staff, wonderful imaginative cocktails and the best fish and chips I've eaten in a long time.

The decor is art decor and tastefully done in keeping with the building age. Service was friendly. Cocktail menu fabulous.

First visit here for lunch with parents and hubby. Had booked a table and on arrival we were shown to a great spacious table at the front window, good start!

We were in Edinburgh for a few days and after doing the shops on George Street, we popped in here for a quick drink. Some other bars were really crowded so this lovely little place was just the ticket, not too many customers and able to hear yourself think. A lovely young guy served us, he was so polite and friendly and made time to ask us where we were from and how we were enjoying Edinburgh. My daughter had recommended here but to be honest we didn't even see the name of the place until we were leaving. A lovely bar and very enjoyable visit

We visited the bar at different times over the weekend, it was always busy but not horrendously so.
