Lai Ho in Purbeck

After being "closed for the holidays" since December, they opened in June and when after the farse the first time, we tried again to horrid customer service and a must have of "Customer must spend £15" to sit in the restaurant. I expect we would paid more than that each,on drink alone I may add 😂 . No smile, just regimental orders, so we left! Consequently its been shut the week after. Madness!

I try not to post negative reviews but this place needs to improve dramatically or close - and soon. This restaurant used to be very nice with friendly staff, traditional decor and tasty food at reasonable prices. Went in as everywhere else down town in Swanage packed. Bad decision, should have followed gut feeling and stayed away. Atmosphere dismal. The place looks neglected and needs redecorating urgently. Customer service dire, food was all pretty dreadful and over priced. Eg £5 for a bowl of steamed rice that was dry and tasteless. So disappointed. Won’t be going back. Will stick with the lovely takeaway up the High Street

Absolutely shocking customer service - would not recommend! We placed our order over the app, 30 minutes later we went down to collect it. When we arrived we were told our order could not be fulfilled due to not having any of the ingredients. When I asked for the refund to be put back on my card, I was spoken to by a very rude female member of staff, who later started to shout at me and ignore me. She told me to call the app and ask for my money back - so I asked her to call them on my behalf as it was their error for accepting the order and taking payment. She made a phone call which sounded like it was to the owner of the company and not the app. I asked her for the receipt of my order and she ignored me, I asked again and was ignored again.. asked a third time and she ‘huffed’ about it and threw my receipt on the desk and walked off. I asked if she could sign the receipt to say I hadn’t had my food (as at this point they had taken my money and I hadn’t been refunded) she told me she wouldn’t sign the receipt and walked off into the back room. Not very professional at all!

Rubbish. Food took over 50 mins to collect. Staff were confused. People were walking out of the restaurant due to late food, incorrect orders, no beers or wine. When the food did turn up it was definitely below par

Really long wait time. 2 people waiting 10 minutes for food that was missed from their order, another 2 trying to explain to the lady what they wanted and there were several points of confusion with their order. Eventually got to the queue to order and the deal we wanted had be discontinued despite it still being on the menu displayed on the shop windows and as handouts. The lady serving us was very rude in her explanation as to why they were not serving it. We decided not to order the food and ordered from elsewhere in town. Would not recommend.

I would leave zero stars if I could. Wait for food was 70 mins. Food was dry and not cooked well and my friend found hair in her food.

I was really excited to try this new Chinese, firstly after ordering I was told 30 minutes when I got there still not ready I ended up sitting in the car for a another 45 minutes. The price was cheap with large portions but the food was not good at all we will not be returning sorry.

Never before been into a Chinese takeaway where you are ruffle told to sit and wait until they can take an order and then the wait for food was 50 mins. They got the order wrong. The food itself was disgusting and tasted off and went straight in the bin. May have put me off Chinese food for life. Sadly couldn’t give worse than terrible!!

On holiday in Swanage, decided on a Chinese. Ordered at 7pm, told we could collect food at 7.40. When returned at 7.40 was told there would be at least another 30 minute wait, no apology, very rude lady! Can’t comment on the food as never received! Give this place a miss!

The sweet and sour chicken was delicious and the chicken was plentiful. Chow Mein and Rice dishes were tasty and the portion sizes generous. Maybe a little more expensive than others but well worth it. The free pancake rolls were a nice touch too, and also very tasty.

After a long-term closure, this Chinese restaurant has reopened, although only a takeaway at present due to the pandemic. We were a bit apprehensive to go there again after previous experiences, and the interior is not that inviting, but we are delighted we gave it a go. We chose some of the spicier dishes, all delicious and very generous quantity-wise.
