My friend and I had been to Lord's for the Test Match and, as is our custom, we go for a curry in the evening as we stay overnight. Fancying a change of venue after last year's debacle, some judicious research came up with Lahori which did not look too far from our hotel. A quick beer (no real ale!) in the nearby Trader's Inn set us up for our first visit to Lahori. A glance at the menu suggested we were in for a treat and so we were! My Keema Muttar Methi was world-class and my friend found that his Achari Murgh similar. A chat with the friendly waiter revealed the connection with the Lahore Kebab House and we both complimented on the excellent cuisine which was truly authentic. Absolutely no doubt that we'll be back!

Enjoyed our dinner here. Quick attentive service, not a large men- tick and all food served in a short period of time. Most dishes quite spicy but this worked for me. Yes, a good job done. Would return next time I'm watching Yorkshire at Lord's.

The food was alright. The restaurant staff are a scam. They welcome you and the minute they found out that you’re not from there. They put that service fee and tell you it’s just taxes. I asked what the service fee and they just said they can’t remove because it is considered as taxes. I’m

Disgusting & awful staff. Booked online on their official website for an 11:15pm and came straight from the airport. We were 4 ladies & showed them the reservation. They claimed they shut at 11pm & they didn’t get any reservations. Very very disrespectful staff and asked us to ‘get out’ of the restaurant. The place was empty & they allowed 4 people to sit & dine after he asked us to leave. Horrible place - doesn’t know how to talk & if you’re shut close your bookings…

Having visited this place in it's previous incarnation ( I think it was simply called Lahore) at least a dozen times, I was keen to see if the food was the same standard. The decor is a bit more fancy and the prices seem to have increased. Not sure if these are new owners, but I presume so. I have to say it's the first time I've left the table from a Pakistani meal still feeling hungry...bearing in mind I'm not a big eater, and I've been dining in very decent Pakistani grill restaurants across East and North London for 35 years. The portion of the mixed grill was pretty stingy, I think 4 chops, a couple of kebabs and the smallest cubes of lamb and chicken tikka I've ever seen. These platters were £35 each I believe which is appalling value. It was simply not enough food. Taste wise it was alright, but not really that spicy. The paneer, a seperate dish, had a very sickly gloopy sauce, it was almost like shop bought Chinese sweet and sour sauce. That was really odd. Mains were served in really tiny bowls, and again I felt obliged to only take a teaspoon of each dish as otherwise nobody else would get to try them. Some dishes only had a couple of bits of meat in them. Even the bread seemed to have taken a trip to lilliput, cut into dinky little triangles. Not the large, glistening, pillow -esque naans I'm used to. Strangely they insisted on blasting the aircon over our table even though it was a cold day, leading several of us to don our coats to eat our main course. We asked for it to be turned off but it seemed they disregarded our request. Overall I felt it lacked the generosity one expects in this type of meal. We spent more than £40 a head and to feel the need to get a McDonalds fish burger a couple of hours later was not what I was hoping for. Usually I'd be satiated for the rest of the day and we'd have a sizeable doggy bag for the next. Service was pleasant enough, bar the aircon issue, and the taste of the food was fine. Not amazing, but the prices and sizes of dishes just made me feel a bit ripped off I'm sad to say. Also worth noting that this restaurant is no longer BYO. The wine isn't marked up that highly but there's not much if any selection other than red or white. It wasn't a bad meal, but I think I'll be sticking to my couple of favourites around Whitechapel from now on, unless I'm in this area again for another reason which is unlikely.

The food was good but the service was awful. One of the worst we have experienced. The staff ignored us when we first sat down although we were the only customers there. The server spilt our beer (a genuine accident, not a big deal) but the did not clean up his own mess.

Lamb cutlets extremely expensive for what they are… 5 cutlets which have been sliced in half to make them as thin as possible (3mm) for £13.50 !! A little stingy, I would say !!

Average given the price. Nothing particularly bad, but given the price the food quality was about average and nothing really stood out as wow, as you would hope for somewhere charging £50/head. On the face of it the decor looks ornate and impressive, but actually when you looked closer the wood panelling looked tired, and in places may have had black mould on the edges of the mouldings. The atmosphere was also somehow cold and lacking warmth and class — it is possible this was due to a poor choice of lighting, mostly overhead and cold in temperature, and not enough side lighting and of a warmer colour temperature. It was also actually cold! It is not clear why the air conditioning would be on and set to such a low temperature in October. It was too cold for my 74 year old mother, but eventually they did provide a small space heater, which greatly improved things. The staff were friendly and helpful — i.e. with the space heater —and the manager honoured the price I was quoted online, which disagreed with the price in the menu in the restaurant.

I had an incredible dining experience at Royal India in Covent Garden. From the moment I stepped in, I was greeted with warm hospitality and a beautifully authentic atmosphere that set the tone for a memorable meal. The staff was attentive and friendly, making excellent recommendations tailored to our tastes. The food was truly exceptional—each dish was rich, flavorful, and expertly spiced, capturing the true essence of Indian cuisine. The butter chicken was silky and packed with flavor, while the biryani was aromatic and perfectly balanced. Whether you’re a fan of Indian cuisine or just looking to try something new, Royal India is a must-visit. This is easily one of the best Indian restaurants I’ve been to in London, and I can’t wait to return!
