Decided to book here after seeing the menu advertised on Google. I would suggest not advertising a restaurant if you do not want external guests dining in your establishment! From the second we stepped foot in the building we were looked up and down and made to feel very unwelcome. We wanted to leave but with it already being 7.30pm we’d left it quite late for dinner so decided to see it through. We had filthy looks from the staff throughout the less than 60 minutes we endured. The food was average, lamb still had string on it and was very over cooked. We were given the option for dessert to which we responded ‘no’ for the waiter to signal a thumbs up to the front of house who proceeded to smile knowing we were soon to leave. We asked for the bill, paid and left straight away. Absolutely gutted we spent our last night here and will never EVER return. Disgusting treatment in what looked like a train station waiting room.

We are currently staying at the hotel & decided to eat in tonight after a long drive today. It was terrible, we booked dinner for 6.30 , there were 4 of us in the restaurant . I ordered Rib eye steak ( not cheap either) and it was cold & chewy, my husband had the chicken which he said was ok. Our sides came after the main meal , we sent them back.. We have another 2 nights here but will find somewhere else to eat

Visited the restaurant while staying at the hotel. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was imaginative, well cooked and very well presented. Excellent evening.

We had a really great evening here when staying at the hotel - the absolute highlight of the hotel. Food is reasonable priced and the menu had so many great options, we struggled to pick. Could have easily eaten there a few nights in a row without eating the same thing twice.

Not good food at all better off going to macdonalds up the road. Very quiet dirty floors, car park is filthy with rubbish everywhere, staff pleasant enough though.

Very limited menu very expensive,no decent priced children’s meals,no variety on menu apart from change of pie ,very little vegetarian options, not a particularly well executed menu, unfortunately it’s impossible to get any food delivered to hotel as it’s in the middle of nowhere,I would never book this restaurant

We arrived in lovely sunshine but were disappointed to find that contrary to the impression given in the advertisement by Lakeland Retreats of sitting on your decking enjoying the sun there is no sun as the Lawns is surrounded by high trees making the interior constantly dark. You have to put the lights on for your breakfast and if you eat in later in the day then also. My partner decided to have a bath the first night but unfortunately contrary to the management company's assertion that there's a constant supply of hot water the hot water ran out and the water turned cold. This happened twice as it did to our neighbours in the adjoining Lakeland Retreats property. We normally have a cooked breakfast on a Sunday but we were appalled to find that the two frying pans supplied were pitted with rust and unusable. Finally as the season turned from summer to autumn the evenings got a little nippy. We tried to turn up the storage radiators but found that the controls are blocked by wooden brackets screwed over the radiators so you can't use them. A beautiful area but we won't be using Lakeland Retreats again if this is the standard they aspire to!

Great service compliments the menu which always has a Sunday roast dinner on Sundays. You need to book in advance to ensure of a table at your chosen time as there is nothing worse than being turned away and having to wait for a table.
