Had a 3 day trip to Edinburgh and this was the highlight of our day! Lovely people working here and great food. We ate here every breakfast this trip. Really reccomend it. 😊 Thankyou!

My second breakfast visit to la viola cafe and it was super. We received a great welcome with efficient service and always willing to make adjustments. I had a tasty omelette and my friend had the breakfast, more than enough and a side of toast also. Just realized that a very talented young lady works here making fabulous home made baked goods. So worth a visit when in Edinburgh and good value for money.

The best hallumi burger l've ever tried and also I loved the beef and blue cheese croques. The staff is really nice and the place is charming :)

The service is truly exceptional! Everyone is very nice, the lunches are prepared with care and the food is fresh and quality! I had a mocha and it was really, really good. The meals are cheap, very affordable!

Have just spent a weekend in Edinburgh staying in the Fountainbridge area and had a lovely breakfast in La Viola on Saturday and Sunday.Good atmosphere ,service and food,a great way for us to start the day.

Supernice stay to eat breakfast/brunch💞 We had a full skottish breakfast and Frenchs toasts and it was both amazing. Good prices, quick and nice staff and a lovely bakery as well if you want to grab something om the go!

Took a while to find a nice cafe on a long walk around city but this place was amazing. The interior was fine and eclectic but the food was absolutely amazing, and reasonably priced. Coming from Glasgow we seen some crazy prices for average cafés in Edinburgh compared to our home, but this was brilliant value for the quality of food, a huge choice too. The French toast was the best we've had, and the croque monsieur with pastrami was so nice. I am glad we found this place and will return anytime we were in Edinburgh. Nice staff, great food and not wild in terms of cost like the cafe we visit the day before!

A really nice place to enjoy good coffee and breakfast/brunch! We enjoyed our steak sandwich fries and the coffees! We tried their cannolis, which were ok as I was not really impressed with the filling - it was nothing extraordinary! There were other cakes and cookies on display that looked quite tempting! A lot of variety to choose from ! Staff is nice and friendly! It has an opening en kitchen vibe, you can see while the chefs are preparing g your delicious dishes! Overall nice ambience and food!

Great little place. We parked in the under ground car park which pedestrian exit is just over the road. We all had different breakfast which were all perfect. Coffee was great as was the service. Well behaved dogs welcome too.

Absolute gem of a cafe/bistro. Superb service. Delicious and tasty food. The breakfasts were excellent and the staff friendly and welcoming. Returned for a second visit it was that good. I drove past as soon as I arrived in Edinburgh and decided to come back for breakfast, IT WAS A GREAT CHOICE!!! Very clean place, desserts excellent presentation and lots of variety. I had a cappuccino and the classic chocolate biscuit. I advise you to make a stop at this Caffè Bistrot. I don't rule out going back tomorrow too. Well done.

We treated ourselves with the pistachio cheesecake and cookie. Absolutely amazing! I was back in Sicily for a moment. If I’d lived here I would come regularly.

100% recommended place, with a wide variety of breakfasts, from sweets, in our case we tried the cookies, the best I have ever tasted, to English breakfasts. They make the coffees great, the waiter who prepares the coffees is very friendly, we went back two days in a row and he remembered what we ordered the day before. Totally professional and apart from the very pretty cafeteria with striking decoration. We have completely succeeded in being able to have breakfast in this cafeteria, if we return we will repeat!

I recently visited Edinburgh for a couple of nights with my wife and baby and decided to have breakfast at La Viola. The experience was incredibly welcoming, and the food was absolutely delicious. I highly recommend it, especially for their freshly baked pastries, which were superb! We enjoyed it so much that we returned the next morning as well. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a very friendly young man named Adam, who provided exceptional service. He was extremely helpful, and it seemed as though nothing was too much trouble for him. In fact, his passion for his job led us to assume he was the owner of the cafe, as individuals with such dedication often are.

Me and my boyfriend found this place while we were on our holiday and wandering around in Edinburgh to find somewhere to have decent breakfast. This place was so lovely and we enjoyed our breakfast and the homemade cakes were gorgeous.😍 We even had a smoothie and shake. Chai feast smoothie was nice and not too heavy, even with the cream on top which is good. The staff there were very friendly as well. Thank you for your excellent service, much appreciated!😄❤️

They are scam artists who Thame big amounts of money and don’t give you your food, I spent £53 via Uber and received someone else’s order when I called to just confirm my order was picked up I was told that I’m crazy and a lot more

Lovely little Bistro / Cafe...stumbled across this place after the Rugby on Sunday morning...what a absolutely fantastic find.. Smoked salmon and cream cheese bagel was to die for and so was 3 egg omelette with onion ,cheese and spicy sausage...friendly staff who make you feel welcome....Will definitely be back next time we are in Ediburgh

We were in Edinburgh for about 3 days On our first morning in we wandered in to this cafe which was about a 5 min walk from our hostel.The staff was so friendly and kind and the food and drinks were absolutely delicious! The place was clean and had a delightful charm .We came back every morning and whenever I'm back in Edinburgh I'll be sure to visit this wonderful place!

The quality of the ingredients and flavor of everything was excellent. All foods are available at all times of day too! Not only that, but the staff is incredibly kind and generous. Absolutely delicious food and the best coffee! The staff are all so friendly, the restaurant is clean and the menu has a ton of options without being overwhelming. The only downside: I was way too full from my incredible breakfast to sample any of the gorgeous pastries. Next time!

What a wonderful small slice of hospitality. Good choice of food and milks for coffee, arrived quickly and a large serving.. the little girl doing her share of being the matre d was amazing.. well worth a pop in.... did I mention the cakes, great selection.

This small but perfect place is worth visiting 100 %. Food is perfect, and the atmosphere is like home. Adam, the waiter took care of us like we were hos family, he smiled and served the fiod with such a pleasure that we felt valued. The photos will tell you the rest. Go there you will be satisfied, no, you will be happy 😊

I was enticed by all the delicious cakes in the window, particularly the amount of pistachio that was on offer. I love pistachio in baking, but I am so often disappointed. I got the pistachio cookie with pistachio icing and it was phenomenal. Strong pistachio flavour, brought out by a perfect balance of sweet and a little salt. Outstanding. The person who served me was also very helpful, answering all my questions about what they had on offer. The service was quick too.

We stayed in Edinburgh for three days and this was our breakfast stop every morning . A fabulous breakfast menu which was always served with a smile. On our last morning we went for the warm cheese scones and pastries option, which did not disappoint. Lovely family run business hope to return one day.

Food is brilliant when they get it right. Had food here a few times and always something missing from order. But the food you do receive is very tasty and well cooked

Came to Edinburgh for a 3 day holiday and thankfully found this wonderful cafe/bistro. Polite accommodating staff, delicious food, a varied menu catering for all dietary requirement. Along with the generous portion sizes for a great price La Viola excels in all aspects from service, to atmosphere, to food. It's absolutely outstanding and I couldn't recommend it more highly.

Nous y sommes allés pour un breakfast mais ils servent tous type de plat au long de la journée et ils proposent un choix varié de boissons chaudes ou froides (mention spéciale pour le smoothie Mango Twist) Les serveurs sont souriants et très attentifs (une fourchette tombée remplacée en moins de 10 secondes) on s’est assis près de la cuisine et c’est de même pour eux, en plus on a pu constater une propreté sans faille ! Un grand merci c’était délicieux :)

Quick to seat you but the waiting staff are on the slow side to come and take your order. The young guy working at the front of shop doing the coffees etc. does a brilliant job but do feel his colleagues could be better. This has been from visiting on more than one occasion.

My cousin and I visited Edinburgh for a handful of days and this was the first place we went to for breakfast. We loved it so much we returned twice more. The chai latte is one of the best I’ve ever had, and my cousin loved the two smoothies she tried. The food was fantastic, especially the grilled halloumi sashulka. We also had the French toast (delicious!) and the avocado and fried egg on sour dough (so yummy!). The Viola iced coffee was also super good. The menu has a lot of variety so definitely something for everyone. The staff was so incredibly friendly, which is one of reasons we returned twice more after our first visit. Unfortunately I didn’t get anyone’s name, but every single person we interacted with was lovely and truly couldn’t have been nicer. I cannot recommend this cafe enough. It’s the perfect spot for breakfast or brunch. Amazing food and wonderful staff!

Been waiting to go here for weeks and finally had time for it. We both had the french toast which was the perfect mixture of sweet and savoury. Staff were lovely and friendly. Can’t wait to come back!

Cute cozy place and great coffee

Pastries here are not fresh, they live cakes and sweets uncovered overnights and they resell them next day... you can go at anytime after closing and check this by yourself from the front window. I do not recommend buying here 👎

The food was amazing… a lovely twist to the avocado and egg dish. Omelette was amazing and the strawberry and banana smoothie was the best I’ve ever tasted… highly recommend this place… we will be back

Have ordered 3 times. Once was a good temp and then its been stone cold twice since. I shouldnt have the use the microwave. When it arrived this time it was over cooked. Tried to get in touch. Not picking up the phone. Too risky to order from again when I can go elsewhere. Viola will obviously blame the driver but its not even in packaging to keep the food warm. Finished with them.

We love this cosy and friendly place and are so regretful that we had having lived nearby for years without wandering in! Now we are tempted to go back every weekend. Food and coffee are lovely and we love the pistachio cheesecake in particular!

I’ve come to this place 2-3 times and I love it! Really large portions and the food tastes good, love how many menu options there are too. My boyfriend didn’t like the Scottish breakfast (shown in photo) but I love both the French Toast and Croque Monsieur! Such a cute spot, definitely recommend.

Breakfast of avocado, sun-dried tomatoes and roasted honey vegetables on sourdough. Looked stunning, tasted delicious. Better still my coffee was HOT, something which a surprising number of cafes do not manage to get right! The cakes looked amazing but I was too full due to the generous portion size.

A five star restaurant in central Edinburgh. Wide range of meals and tastes available. Efficient service. Clean and tidy. The liver is great!
