Amazing food we all had Tapas and relaxed comfortable service, I can’t fault this place just wish I’d found it sooner I will definitely be back

Won’t be rushing back here in a hurry, a shame as generally the food is quite nice but after finding a very sharp piece of plastic in my food and it being handled appallingly I have been put off returning. I showed them the plastic that I pulled out of my mouth, just to be asked where did I find it and left with the same plate of food to continue eating! I picked at would I could but actually gave up and left the veg, saying to the server I couldn’t eat it out of fear of more plastic and could something be done about the bill. Eventually gets told the chef was sorry it had broken off the butter tub and would like to buy me a drink… I politely declined as did not want another drink to which she tried to convince the whole table to have shots instead and actually got annoyed when we all declined! They ended up taking of 1 of my 2 drinks (although it seems we ended up paying for an extra beer anyway) but honestly I should have first of all got a proper apology, secondly been given a fresh plate of food and thirdly my main should have been free. Put someone who ordered the same as me off her meal as well, she did take the leftovers but ended up binning them just in case.

Spent a very pleasant evening at La Villa on 31st July. My sister-in-law and I were celebrating my birthday. We were very impressed with the quality and the quantity of the food supplied. I had a very nice fish dish, we had a bottle of white wine which didn't break the bank. I would recommend this restaurant and we will certainly return when I'm staying with my sister-in-law again.

Refreshing change to go somewhere and food was rather nice , seemed freshly prepared, standard tapas menu, could have recited what was on it without looking at it , however, great service , cheesy music, which after a few drinks seems ok , but leading on to the drinks sadly very limited choice in single glasses of wine, the house wine( white ) is vile , so la villa , I had water, so maybe a nicer house white and I would have liked the cheesy music, but great as i feel great today ! Also lighting rather bright I will definitely come back though

We had tapas dishes, which were pleasantly presented. but rather bland. Perhaps we are spoiled because our eldest daughter lives in Seville and the tapas there are superb. Beautifully presented and full of flavour. There Patatas Bravas are crisp with a piquant tomato sauce, here they are not. They are not bad, simply OK, but no more.

Great food , had a great birthday celebration. Really good service as normal, really enjoyed the food.

Visited 24th June 8 people Ans everyone one said there food was excellent 2 guest had fillet steak and they said it was the best steak they have had I had the skewers and the was excellent geat meat and cooked perfect This is a excellent restaurant and we'll worth a visit Great food great ambience Ans staff excellent. After years and years dining as regulars in owner Marie's Ewell restaurant, La Familia, we retired to Devon but still made a point of returning to La Fam whenever we came back to the 'hood! We returned this week to celebrate my wife's birthday and, for a change, we asked Marie for a table for six at La Villa... It almost feels disloyal to say, but this place is even better than our previous fave. When we lived here, La Villa used to be mainly a seafood and fish-based speciality restaurant (and we're largely carnivores) but they've now massively expanded their menu to offer superb grill options (including our occasional guilty treat, the massive sirloin skewers!) and their trademark fantastic tapas! What an evening we had - the place was busy and buzzing (on a Wednesday night!) when we got there, and Marie and her team made us feel like royalty. Our table immediately went for a tapas free-for-all and (here's where so many other restaurants get it wrong) instead of dumping all the food on the table at once to go cold and congeal, Marie and the kitchen expertly chose which complementary dishes to bring to the table in a relaxed sequence, so over the course of well over an hour, we enjoyed dish after dish of beautifully prepared HOT food with a winning mix of carbs and proteins at every stage - so nicely done. The wine list is reliably comprehensive and well-stocked, with great Albarinos and Ribera del Dueros to die for... plus we were delighted to see that La Familia's signature house cocktail, Besame Mucho, is back on the menu at La Villa - a great way to round off one of the best birthday meal experiences we've ever enjoyed! We're back up in a couple of months and we'll be back at La Villa like a shot.

Great restaurant with lively friendly atmosphere. Been twice in past two months - highly recommend.

When we arrived we were shown to our table and everything seemed alright, service was a-little slow, but it was a Saturday night. On trying to catch up with friends and hear what they had been up too over the last couple of months this was extremely difficult 1. Due to the noise of the other guests 2. The restaurant has terrible acoustics 3. The grease soundtrack was being played so loud! Another table twice had to ask for the restaurant to turn the music down as they seemed to turn it up as the conversations in the restaurant got louder. I think you’d have a better conversation in a nightclub! The food was good, however having bits of a smashed plate in one tapas dish you would have thought 1. They would replace the dish 2. Offer some form of compensation as said smashed plate did enter my mouth - but no! Nothing was offered and we had to ask. On the bill being taken back all that was offered was the removal of the discretionary service charge. As you can probably guess we won’t be returning and will be telling all our friends and family in the local area of our experience. Also I will be reporting the restaurant to food hygiene as if a child had swallowed said chipped plate it could have been very different outcome. AVOID!!!

As usual another fantastic time at La Villa. We were part of a Christmas party at La Villa on 22nd December at lunch time. The food was excellent the service was amazing and we all had a great time. Will be back and would definitely recommend the restaurant.

we sat down in the centre of the restaurant. which was full. a variety of couples & groups. as expected, the groups were chatting, which made it difficult to hear our group as a chat. Then there was an added ‘background’ music to the restaurant- so was more difficult to hear the ‘chat’ from our table. the food was delicious, but delay between courses.

Food delicious. We started eating food from here during lock down, as take away and it was great. We promised we would eat in the restaurant when it reopened and we have just got round to it. Not disappointed by the food, but the noise. We could barely hear ourselves. And then they started to play music, quite loud, maybe to drown out the really loud table, we were unfortuntely sat next to?! The whole place seems to echo. No music needed! Really put us off returning : (

Such a lovely meal here, unexpected rang up off the cuff on a Friday evening and we’re managed to be squeezed in for a table in prime time. The food was lovely and the staff were brilliant and friendly. I assume a family run restaurant the young lady serving us was friendly and helpful Would definitely visit again

Went Thursday evening, both had a starter and main, other half had 2 house wines and I had one glass of cava - just short of £100 !

Pleasant surroundings, reasonable quality of food - not really for vegetarians, as many of those options were deep fried. Sea food was tasty, as were the ham and cheese options. Service was a little immature and the ambient temperature was cold. It works out at more than £55 per head with wine.

My wife & I have visited La Villa a few times & cutting straight to the chase the food is always fantastic. Last night we both had a fillet steak with pepper sauce and the meal was faultless. Any serious steak lover will know that there is an art to cooking a proper steak and the chef at La Villa absolutely smashes it. We cannot recommend this hidden gem highly enough and we can't wait to return. I think it's important to give context to ones background in order for any review to have any meaning. My wife and I are both members of The Arts Club in Mayfair where the food is incredible, we dine in Zuma, Langans and other top London restaurants too, so we know & understand good food.

First time at this restaurant. Food was excellent, service was great and the setting is clean, crisp and very relaxing. I can’t recommend it highly enough. You will not be disappointed.

Christmas ruined. Probably the worst meal we have ever had. £85 per head for absolute terrible food. The Mediterranean veg consisted of sprouts and carrots! and the potatoes which were meant to be sauté were like bricks which also came with chips !! The steak which was meant to be fillet was inedible and came with an extra of human "hair" We left before anything else was served. Never again

Met with friends we haven’t seen for a long time. The restaurant was as good as remembered, the staff were friendly and helpful and the food was excellent but needed a “doggiebag” as such large portions.

Awful food we were served completely raw chicken I realised once I had eaten some ! which we got an apology for from the chef and had to fill in forms ! Not offered a complimentary drink or anything payed full bill minus the chicken...

Been a few times , not really your traditional tapas. The fish is always good as is the paella but always seems quite pricey for what you actually get

This restaurants is from the same stable as La Familia in Ewell and Hampton both great restaurants, small but still great. Great welcome and friendly service. No complaints with the food, the starter of prawns, mussels and clams in a chilli broth was fantastic, followed by a delicious veal chop nice potatoes and vegetable selection. Great value will visit again.

Visited a few weeks back and really enjoyed our visit. As always, the food tastes so fresh and I literally couldn't fault any of our courses. The staff were friendly and helpful when ordering and I'd highly recommend the steak on the skewer! Would recommend this lovely place to anyone visiting the village.

Visited on a Tuesday night at the request of teen who fancied trying the wild boar skewers. Not been for a while and noticed one or 2 iffy reviews but Birthday boy gets to choose. Have to say everything was spot on. Skewers good, monkfish perfectly cooked and delicious and service also good so a bit baffled by some comments. I can’t say if it’s authentic tapas or not, but it tastes good and it ain’t Italian or Indian. Also pleased to see they had a fair number of people eating there early in the week. Reminded me we should go again one weekend. I hope the place continues to thrive, it brings some much needed variety to Cheam.

Nice enough and the food was reasonable, however one tapas had far too much salt. For me the restaurant lacked atmosphere and ambiance and the waiter was cold and impatient as per the previous review!

This was my second visit having had a delicious meal in December with great atmosphere and the only small complaint was a rather rude waiter.

What an amazing afternoon. Fun, games and most importantly Maria raised a huge £810 in 2 hours for an amazing cause.

We spent a very enjoyable evening there , the food was good and the service was excellent , the food was very hot and generous portions and the starters and tapas tasted great, we had the mixed paella which was nice but lacked depth of flavour compared to the starters and tapas but again very generous portions, was a hot evening and it was very nice and cool, overall its a good restaurant that offers value for money but it is more of a high end restaurant

The restaurant has a small menu but one offering a wide choice of dishes. The food was well cooked and nicely presented. The drink selection is good and very fairly priced. Service was friendly and efficient even though there was a large group in.

Had a very pleasant evening with friends and family my sister had the meat paella which can be a hit or miss depending what region the chef is from . It was very enjoyable I do prefer mine a little bit drier but was tasty , would have again others had veal lamb chops a fantastic looking bream all very well presented and all empty plates so all good ! The sangria was lovely and dessert was even better creamy lemon tart beautiful ! The service was very friendly especially mike some friendly banter will be back

Very disappointed, went here yesterday 5/4/19 and NO veggie option. Brought me back to went I first went to Spain 25 years ago when they just didn’t get that ‘some’ people are vegetarian. When I asked about a veggie option I over heard the waitress/manger at the bar behind me say to her colleague “she can have a plate of vegetables’ the man who served us suggested I have a couple of ‘veggie’ starters which I did. The food I had was nice but disappointed that they could not have put at least 2 main options on the menu. The deco is lovely, purple and grey but the chairs are horribly uncomfortable, the back rest slants back, which means you have to sit forward in your chair to eat and talk. Had to take painkillers when I got home as lower back in so much pain. Obviously won’t be returning unless The menu changes to cater for a large population of the country who are non meat eaters!

We went there as a family to celebrate my daughter's birthday. First impressions were positive, we had a good table and the background music was muted. We ordered a cocktail each, and a number of tapas for starters. The cocktails were ok, my mohito was a passing resemblance to a mohito, but ok.

Went here with a friend. On arrival, we were greeted with a nice cold glass of Prosecco with strawberry. We ordered the paella. Service was quick food was hot and served on a hot paella pan. This was just enough for the two of us. We were also served nice bread and olives.

A group of 20 of us enjoyed brilliant service well presented and delicious food on Saturday night. The staff worked really hard dealing with our large noisy group . My crab and advocado starter was huge ! And my calves liver cooked to perfection . Most of the party had the tapas selection which looked lovely . I have had the scallops on previous visit and was superb . Thankyou for a lovely evening .

Hubby and I went last night. He had camembert starter and I had the cured ham. He had veal chop and I had sea bass filets. We both loved the food and the taste experience truly amazing. Service excellent, wine was good. Everything was reasonably priced.

Organised a 50th dinner for my husband on his birthday the 22nd Feb 2019.

We arrived at 7:45...so expected to dinner by 9pm....we did not get notified of any delay until we complained...so it arrived at 10pm, by which time we were not hungry...much to late to eat a large meal.....just tried to sell more drinks.

I wanted to book at table at 7pm on a Sat night to celebrate our friend’s anniversary and was told they were busy. The staff asked us to come from 6pm but must vacate the table by 8.30pm. I said we will come at 6.30pm.

Went there in December for a business lunch and was slightly concerned to see a large table of people having an office party, so expected things to be slow. Instead, the food was served quickly, was delicious and the experience was great. Will be back soon!

Four of us went for a family lunch during the week. For most of the time we were the only people in the restaurant. Service very friendly and overall an enjoyable time. However would only rate the food as average.

A good Spanish tapas restaurant. Food was of a good standard and enough choice to suit everyone in the group.

My friends and I regularly visit this restaurant as the food is consistently good and the staff are always attentive and friendly. The range of tapas is great and the quality fantastic. This is by far one of the best tapas places I've eaten in over the last 20 years (outside of Spain!) in the local area.

We really love this place anyway and we are so pleased we made the excellent decision to join them for New Years Eve dinner. What a great meal! A set menu but no need to pre order which was good. All four of us loved our food. We were welcomed with a Bellini and canapés, then delicious scallops, steaks so tender a steak knife not necessary and wonderful desserts. All rounded off with coffee and chocolates. Great service from this lovely team as always. Everything was presented beautifully and perfectly timed for us to finish in time for midnight when they put on a brilliant display of fireworks - in fact people from nearby restaurants also came out to watch. Huge well done to all at La Villa and we look forward to our next visit soon!

La Villa you never disappoint! I’ve had 2 fabulous nights out there with my group of mates and both times food, drinks, service and atmosphere have all been seriously on point!

The food and service were excellent. We had tapas and it was delicious. Will definitely be coming back! We found it hard to leave and end our evening.

What an amazing evening. We received a warm welcome from Umberto and had fantastic service from Mark and Isabella all evening.

Went for a bite to eat with my other half. Ordered tapas, which tasted nothing like tapas. Very bland food, not too unpleasant but the gambas con ajillo had no taste . The mussels were nice enough, the padron peppers were the only thing that tasted authentic ( those would be very had to mess up!) and the patatas bravas were not quite patatas bravas.

We had a selection of Tapas that were mouth watering. Recommendations from the waitress and great wine (house). A lovely family run resturant and friendly. Well worth a visit.

Booked for a Tuesday lunch as a treat with two friends. The restaurant was very quiet which was nice. The wine was delicious and went down a treat. We ordered chicken in white wine sauce, luckily I was with vegetarians, so I didn't have to share it :-) , skate wing and several tapas. We all agreed the food was divine. For dessert, one chocolate cheesecake, churros and lemon pie. The owner was very friendly. I would recommend this restaurant - It's pricey but well worth it. Enjoy

Went on Friday evening gone, food was excellent, the place was buzzing Definitely go back Thumbs up !

This meal was arranged at the last minute by Richards wife Julie for Richards 60th birthday. There were approx 18 people and the meal was, as usual, excellent. I would recommend this restaurant for a cosy dinner up to a party.

We had a table for 5 on a Saturday night. As expected the restaurant was quite busy on arrival but we were seated straight away at the table that we booked, table was fine. We were given menus and ordered wine. After 15 minutes we were finally able to give our orders for the main courses as we didn't have starters to the waitress. We then waited over 45 minutes to get our food. Food was ok, portions certainly not very big. After we finished and plates were cleared away we waited for the desert menus to be provided after quite some time we finally tracked a waitress down so we could then order our desserts. Again these were very small for the price. The entire session took almost 2 1/2 hours. All in all it seems they could not cope with a full house with the kitchen or out on the floor. Perhaps it would be ok during the week. The other slightly dissapointing feature is it does not have a Spanish feel at all with regards to the decor or the music etc. It was very noisy partly due to the music being kept at such a high volume. This is the second time we have eaten here on a saturday night but I expect it will be our last unless things change.

Our first visit here on Saturday evening and we will certainly be back. Lovely food at good prices and the red house wine was enjoyable too. Booking is a must as the place was full. A couple of big parties were in so pretty noisy but added to the atmosphere. If any complaint at all would say the lighting was rather bright, although we did have a bulb directly over our table.

We had to book and it was busy so had to sit outside. Which was not too bad at all. The food was excellent, great value and service was attentive and timely. Well worth a visit and highly recommend the place. Great options on the menu as well, so give it a go you are unlikely to be disappointed. Thanks for an enjoyable time. Andy & Joanie

Our friends took us to La Villa and we had such an enjoyable time, that we returned with another couple. The service and choice was just right, we sat in the window seats and the breeze was lovely.

Certainly worth a visit ! Good menu, either for tapas or for a larger meal. Nice wine list too. Friendly staff. Good atmosphere.

Just had a lovely Tuesday night meal here. It’s only our first visit but one of the best fish focussed restaurants I’ve been to in a while.

Wonderful, much needed Spanish restaurant in Cheam. My partner had the veal special, I had scallops and prawns. Tasted superb, good service,nice friendly atmosphere. Highly recommended, we will certainly be visiting again soon.

I visited this Tapas and Spanish restaurant after being recommended by a friend. A group of us decided to try this restaurant. We shared tapas and ordered a main each. The food was lovely, great selection and very fresh. The scallops melted in my mouth. The service was nice and the staff very friendly. We felt we were able to take our time and enjoy our evening. It was very busy however we didn’t wait long for our order once we had decided what to have!

I'd been wanting to visit this restaurant for a while, but they do tend to get fully booked on the weekends. I went on a weekday evening in the end and had a lovely time. The service isn't the fastest, but personally I don't mind that - tapas can sometimes be over all a bit too fast.

Happt days = another local tapas restaurant within Uber distance. The ham croquettes are especially good as was the house Tempranillo. Will return. Recommended.

I have been here three times now as the food is superb. However all three times there has just been one waiter and I have had to actually leave my seat to ask for service. Once you have ordered your drinks you seem to be left alone for a long time, this is fine but if you want three courses it makes for a long evening. Then they have sold out of some of the deserts so you end up just having coffee which is cheaper for you but surely not good for business. Also the menu is the same for lunch as the evening and I feel that a lighter? cheaper menu may get more people in to eat at this time.

I was unaware this restaurant was in.Cheam and discovered it by chance. We had therefore not reserved a table but were lucky to get one immediately. Despite it being a Tuesday evening all tables were full, the whole time we were in the restaurant so I would recommend booking.

First visit to La Villa with friends who had been before. First impressions. Very clean, modern interior, good service and attentive, recommendations made without asking, food excellent. Some portions were very large, others just right depending what was selected. Would definitely recommend and will be going back.

As long-standing fans of the outstanding La Familia tapas restaurants in Ewell and Hampton, Susie and I had no doubt that Mari and Unberto's new venture would be a success, and what a success it is! More fish-focused than its two sister restaurants, La Villa manages to offer a different menu whilst still serving up the exceptional personal service (thanks to the lovely regular team members like Flavio and Nicole) and terrific wine list that characterise the 'La Familia' touch! We've eaten there several times now and continue to be blown away, each time introducing new friends to the joys of La Villa!

Lovely friendly family run restaurant with good food a good selection of drinks tapas menu could do with having more on it but that was the only downside

In common with another recent review we had a dreadful experience on arriving - after being seated having given our names -we were then interrogated as to whether we had a booking and were told, by the female manager, that we would have to leave... we then insisted on looking at the reservation book - where we could see that our phone number was correct but our name had been mis-heard.....no apology...and ruined our evening.....

I have been here with my family a few times now since Christmas. Every time the food and the service has been great. Highly recommended.

Having looked forward to travelling to cheam to visit my parents and have a lovely meal, to being kindly greeted by the owner. My pleasant experience of La Villa ended there, having asked for our booking.

My first visit here on Friday & I was very impressed! The surroundings are lovely & the staff very pleasant and not overbearing.

I don't really know Cheam and this restaurant was a bit hidden at the end of a small number of other restaurants.

Regulars at the sister restaurant we were keen to try the new one and we were not disappointed!

This restaurant is not really bad, just mediocre, but I think somebody must dot the i's. Firstly, the restaurant does not really offer Spanish food.They offer Spanish food passed through a South American filter and customised for the British taste. That would be acceptable if the final result is good, but it is mediocre. Service was overinclusive and inefficiently managed by a manager who stood up during the whole evening looking at the 2 waiters who were struggling to meet the customers' demands. Finally, the magic touch was that we were charged 5 desserts for a party of 3 (?). Mathematics is a wonderful thing, and this restaurant doesn't add up.

First trip and won’t rush back, some dishes were over cooked and not very tasty and although we returned them they weren’t any better when they came back. I will try again as I love tapas and want that experience to be a one off. Quite expensive for what we had too.

New Spanish restaurant in Cheam where Chomps used to be. Went there this week with friends and I have to say the place has made an auspicious start. Two of us had tapas dishes and two of us had dishes from the main menu, and there was a selection of additional fresh fish on display as specials. All told then 2 starters, 2 mains, half a dozen tapas dishes and a couple of desserts, and there wasn’t a duff dish amongst them. All fresh and with everything ranging from good to excellent, and same goes for the service. Impressive stuff. Will definitely be going again

Sister restaurant to my favourite restaurant in Ewell (La Familia), La Villa maintains the high standard set by the owners. With an emphasis on fish and seafood, but still with some lovely tapas and other options, the food is excellent. Add the friendly and attentive staff into the mix and you can't find a nicer place to eat in Cheam.

Only opened recently, this restaurant is destined to become a local favourite.
